Two Contra Costa College football players commit

A pair of Contra Costa College sophomore linemen have made oral commitments to Division I schools.
Demetrius Cherry, a 6-foot-6, 260 pound defensive end, has committed to Arizona State. He had 3.5 sacks and 29 total tackles in seven games this past season.
“I felt really comfortable with the whole staff,” Cherry said. “I’ve got an opportunity to go there and start.”
Cherry said that Arizona State has him slated as a defensive end/linebacker. He also took official visits to Illinois and Iowa State.
Offensive tackle Damien Parris has committed to Houston. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound Parris played left tackle for the Comets and helped them average 362.5 yards per game, including 221.7 rushing yards per game this past season.
“It was a good fit for me, school-wise and playing-wise,” Parris said.
Parris took official visits to Houston, Kentucky, San Jose State and Kansas.
