Columbia men’s basketball senior Brian Barbour, a former Monte Vista High standout, was added to the watch list of candidates for the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award.
More than 80 candidates have been nominated for the 2013 award, named after the Boston Celtics legend.
Barbour is averaging a team-best 14.1 points per game and 4.4 assists. He is also shooting 92.5-percent from the free throw line and leads the Ivy League with a 2.7/1 assist/turnover ratio. Barbour became the 25th Lion to eclipse 1,000 career points on Dec. 9. He is on pace to be the first player in program history to hit the century mark in scoring and record 300 career assists.
This watch list of candidates will be narrowed down to a final five by about March 1.
