California High standout running back Karris Johnson has orally committed to Utah State, after also considering Colorado State, UNLV and Cal Poly.

“I just felt I fit in really well when I took my visit up there a few months ago,’” said Johnson, who expects to redshirt next year and have a good chance to start or see playing time at running back in 2014.

Johnson helped the Grizzlies advance to the North Coast Section Division I semifinals last season and an EBAL co-championship along with San Ramon Valley.

“Coach Eric Billeci has supported us all well and gotten us prepared for whatever comes next,” said Johnson, who played in the California State All-Star Football Game on Dec. 22 in Visalia.

Congrats to Karris on a much deserved scholarship and good luck at Utah St. It is nice to see that coach B has been involved as that has been a knock against him previously.

Also congrats to coach Lad on an unprecedented run at DLS over the past 34 years.
