De La Salle basketball, wrestling event info

A couple big events are on tap at De La Salle this weekend. The Spartans’ basketball team will try to recover from a rare EBAL loss against Monte Vista when it hosts San Ramon Valley on Friday evening. Game time is 7 p.m., but gates open at 3:45 and seating is first come, first served. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for others. There will be no in and out privileges.

Then on Saturday, some of the top wrestling programs in Northern California will compete at De La Salle. Gilroy, Vacaville, Clovis and the Spartans, all perennial state powers and defending section champions, will face off in a series of dual matches. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children/seniors. Here’s the schedule:

4 p.m. – De La Salle vs. Gilroy; Vacaville vs. Clovis

About 5:30 p.m. – De La Salle vs. Clovis; Vacaville vs. Gilroy

The event will also be available on the Comcast Hometown Network or online at highschoolsports.xfinity.com (must be a Comcast subscriber).

Livermore’s Cathrea honored by magazine

Casie Cathrea of Livermore has been named Golfweek magazine’s Player of the Week after her recent win in the San Diego Junior Amateur. Cathrea will play college golf at Oklahoma State.

De La Salle vs. Monte Vista game info

De La Salle hosts Monte Vista on Tuesday night in an East Bay Athletic League showdown. Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning on attending the 7 p.m. game:

- Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students

- Gates will open at 3:45 p.m.

- There are no in and out privileges

- Seating is first come first served

Last year, Monte Vista was the only EBAL team to beat the Spartans, doing so in Danville. Should be another good one Tuesday.
