Edgardo Cuellar not making 1st team is an absolute travesty. Cannot believe the coaches did not vote him in.

It’s really a shame to hear some of the stories that come out of these meetings regarding coaches not voting for players just to try to get their own players on. I wish the coaches could just vote with total honesty and put the best players on 1st team. In the end its the players who suffer because adults have an ego or can’t be honest.

  • The Sweeper

    Hey Matt,

Looking forward to the boys soccer showcase on Friday and seeing the stars shine. Thanks again for a stellar season of coverage, analysis and surprises!

Congratulations to all players recognized by their leagues. To the graduating seniors, good luck with your next endeavors, and to the returning student-athletes, looking forward next season.

See you at the wide pitch on Friday!

  • Metal Matt

Contact me about the allstar game for Tv. Can you do color or too busy during the game? Send me an email.

  • HS Soccer Fan

I am out of town–is the gane being filmed or broadcast? Thanks

  • Shinguard

Any word on how game is going?

  • RoyKeanefan

Kudos to Matt. Great game. The players put on a great show. The action was non stop. Great shots, super saves. The players had fun, the fans were treated to an exciting match, and Richmond High was a fine host. The only thing that could have made it better was 10 more degrees of warmth and a little less wind.

    And D1 beat D2 by a score of 2-1.

I hope this becomes a tradition.

  • Rory Gentry

Great coverage all season and, wow, what a season! My reason for writing is to offer this old coach’s nominee for COY and that should be none other than Alfonso Munoz of Concord High.
Also, congratulations to Yojay Basulto from Concord (and formerly of Clayton Valley) for being selected as a Co-Defensive MVP for the DVAL and also for being selected as a member of the D2 All-Star team.
Looking forward to seeing you all next year…from somewhere!

Thanks for coordinating a GREAT game! Action, talent, and good sportsmanship all in one place. You deserve a big, East Bay wide, round of applause and fist bumps in your honor.

    Well done!

Oh, and the players did well too.

  • Coach Sal

Matt, the All-Star game last night must be considered a success. Great job! Hope this is the first of many more to come. I have to give a shout out to the BVAL players in D1 team for representing our league well. Pitt’s Izzy Murguia assisted Richmond’s Eric Montes for the first goal and our own Jorge Cendejas (BVAL MVP) from Freedom scored the winning goal. I think it’s a testament to the talent in this league. Great job boys! Thank you Matt for all that you do for these boys. See you next season!
