Most of us are caught up in the high school basketball season, but a pretty cool baseball event is slated for Saturday. It’s the First annual EBAL/DFAL Challenge. Dougherty Valley coach Brian Freitas is serving as the event director for the challenge, which will take place at three different venues.
At Granada High, Amador Valley will face Alhambra at noon, followed by Granada vs. Dublin at 3 p.m.
At San Ramon Valley, California meets Las Lomas at noon and San Ramon Valley plays Acalanes at 3 p.m.
At Dougherty Valley, there are two excellent games with Monte Vista facing Dougherty Valley at noon, followed by a showdown between De La Salle and Campolindo at 3 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for childer 12 and under, and under 5 is free.

It’s about time the two best east bay baseball leagues meet up in this format, especially the two games at Dougherty Valley. My picks are the EBAL wins the series 4-2, with Campolindo and Dougherty Valley winning for the DFAL.
I hope the weather stays nice.

This challenge is a great idea. Dougherty may not be as good this year as they have not been sharp and are now division 1, but I don’t know how strong MV is as they didn’t score a run in either of their first 2 games. The Campo-DLS matchup is great, but the DV-MV matchup not nearly as appealing. I see the EBAL taking 4 out of 6 too.

DV wins 2-0 over MV, with 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th. Snyder had a tidy complete game shutout.

Wow, nice win by DV. MV gets shut out for the third time already early in this preseason. It sounds like they got great pitching, giving up just 2 late unearned runs, but if no one is hitting, they better be tossing shutouts. Mnte Vista has no O.

Acalanes beat San Ramon Valley 3-2. Great high school baseball game between two very good teams.

DLS wins 2-0 over Campo. Campo squandered chances and the DLS dugout made two horrible calls on the bases. A win is win…

Granada beats Dublin 10-0

DV is a young team, for sure not the team they had last year. Beating MV 2-0 was impressive and snider pitched a gem but that is really the only good he has done this season. He has a cold bat to start the season and has a record of 1-2 on the mound. Doubt he will fallow up that 2nd team all state season he had last year. Not impressed, dont know what all the hype is about for him or the DV team

Joe R – He is a good player, why call him out on a public board?

Agreed. The kid threw a great game. No reason to try to minimize it.
