Former James Logan quarterback dies in fall

Gary Bogue, who quarterbacked James Logan High’s football team to a Mission Valley Athletic League title in 1966, died Sunday after hitting the back of his head after a fall from a ladder at his house in Danville on Saturday, said his brother Stephen.

Bogue, 64, was a three-sport letterman at James Logan and was named athlete of the year for the school his senior year in addition to being valedictorian. He earned a baseball scholarship to Cal and worked for the San Jose Fire Department for 31 years and retired as a captain in 2004, Stephen said.

He is survived by his wife Cathy and children Janelle, Andrew, Meghan and Makenna. Information on services will be announced later, Stephen said
