Griffin chooses Washington State

De La Salle High football player Kevin Griffin took an unofficial visit to Washington State three weeks ago. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback was so impressed that, after a talk with his family this past weekend and Cougars assistant head coach Eric Russell, Griffin decided Tuesday night to orally commit to Washington State.
“I really loved the campus, I loved the coaches and I loved the team,” said Griffin, who will be a senior this fall for the Spartans. “I listened to my heart, and my heart told me it was the right time to make that decision.”
Griffin said he was told by defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Mike Breske that he would have a good opportunity to start his freshman year at Washington State. Griffin was a second-team all-East Bay Athletic League pick at defensive back as a junior.
Griffin said that Cal, UCLA, Arizona State and Nevada all showed interest in him, but his mind is made up. “I’m sure that I will stay with Washington State,” Griffin said. “I don’t believe in de-committing.”

McClymonds Lavon Washington committed to U-DUB! He will join former Mack Warrior Marcus Peters in the DAWGS secondary.

  • Oh Boy

Yup, good call on the Lavon Washington commit. That’s a huge deal for the young man and I think it’s a good fit for him. Congratulations Lavon!

Stellar prep is shady! Why would you leave a very good program is sacramento to come to stellar prep? Be careful…

  • bayfootball

I should say looks shady, I just know from word of mouth and all the online reviews.

Im sure if someone looked into it.. it could be shut down. I am not even sure myself how kids can move onto big schools while going there since it can not even fulfill the A-G requirements for college. I guess privates are still good though. are they even WASC certified?

  • bayfootball

No they’re not WASC certified. Congrats on the offer, but at the risk of a school that could be shut down…and it’s your senior year or any kid for that matter. Scary what could happen if classes didn’t transfer over or worse its get shut down. What happens then? Oh well, not my risk. Congrats on the offer young man. Inderkum has 4 or 5 kids with offers, makes you wonder why you leave to go to a bottom type school with that big of risk ???
