Aspiring public address announcers are invited to hone and improve their skills at a clinic at De La Salle High this weekend. The clinic, sponsored by the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers, runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Cost is $75 for adults and $40 for students, but there is a $10 discount for NASPAA members who pay before July 19.
Topics to be covered include the role of the P.A. announcer, the P.A. Announcers’ Code of Conduct, P.A. announcing expectations, do’s and don’ts of announcing football, as well as factors such as style, voice quality and delivery.
Attendees will then be given the opportunity to participate in announcing exercises and receive feedback from clinician Gary Williams, stadium announcer for the Oakland Raiders and NASPAA Board Member.
