Carondelet High swimmer Chelsea Chenault was named state female athlete of the year by Cal-Hi Sports. Chenault, who will swim at USC next year, won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle at the North Coast Section championships while also helping Carondelet set a national record in the 400 freestyle relay. This summer, Chenault is competing with the U.S. national team at the FINA World Championships. She also recently went to the World University Games. Here’s more on Chenault from Cal-Hi Sports.
Castro Valley’s Sasha Wallace, Bishop O’Dowd’s K.C. Waters and College Park’s Joe DeMers were also honored by Cal-Hi Sports. Wallace (track and field) was named girls Division I athlete of the year while Waters (basketball, softball) was the top girls Division III athlete. DeMers (baseball, basketball) was honored as the boys sophomore of the year.
