Alameda football squad has returning talent

ALAMEDA — The Alameda High football team has been hit hard by graduation, but coach Kemp Moyer points out that this season’s Hornets squad does not have a lack of talent.

“We have some talented skill players coming back that have been on college radar. I’m confident that we can compete, but I know that we will have some growth along the way,” he said.

One of those talented skill players is defensive back/wide receiver Sulaiman Hameed, who has offers from colleges such as Arizona State and Washington State, Moyer said. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior missed all of last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and had not been cleared for full contact at press time. “He is still questionable for Week 1,” Moyer said. “We’re not rushing him. We’re listening to the doctors.”

    bval your ignorance is blissful
(No offense is a magic bullet, no one is inherently better than any other offense… execution and player talent)
you have been brainwashed idiot -
would u also say BMW is not better than the SATURN
    fool its call evolutionary design
THE PISTOL IS BY FAR THE BEST OFFENSE TO DATE
IT ALLOWS THE RB WHO IS MOST LIKELY THE BEST ATHLETE TO PICK THE MOST EFFICIENT HOLE EVEN IF THE LINE MISSES BLOCKS… Y U WOULD WANT A BIG LUMBERING LINEMAN RUNNING SIDEWAYS TO PICK UP A CROSS BLOCK IS BEYOND ME.. THAT MESS THE BELLS RUNS IS 4 THE BIRDS the fact that u have high school kids staying home 2 get cross block is nuts.. YOU can get cross block if ur tackling the RB behind the line 5yrd deep WHEN U SET THE EDGE THE EDGE is where u set it why are teams setting the edge outside 2 get cross block by a linEman with 5 to 10 yards of steam COME ON PEOPLE DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM……….

  • chalktalk

PISTOL RB GETS THE BALL 5 TO 8 YARDS DEEP.
AT THE MESH POINT, THE LINE HAVE ALREADY PICKED UP THE BLOCK OR MISSED THE BLOCK no guess work by the RB THE RB SHOULDERS ARE SQUARE. the RB CAN SEE CLEARLY FROM DE TO DE and he is running down hill. The offense is also balanced unlike the shotgun spread. How often does the running back run to the same side he line up on in the shotgun spread??????????
dumb people say things like people have been do it like that 4 years dont re-invent the wheel (HOW ABOUT LEAVE THE WHEEL ALONE AND MAKE A JET ENGINE ASSHOLE)

    G,
The El Cerrito team that showed up against Odowd has to get better especially the run game which was almost non existent but be clear they dominated Bishop Odowd in every phase of the game.BOD is clearly not the team they were last year but still very solid and the EC defense held them scoreless missing their top player on defense DJ Calhoun who did not play. The Ec offense was explosive and scored at will on a pretty solid BOD defense but again lacked a running game outside their Qb scrambling for big chunks of yardage and one of the real strengths will be special teams where most teams will be wise not to punt/kickoff it to those speedsters…..El Cerrito was very disappointed with their performance it was a good test going into a challenging preseason schedule …..

How does freedom h.s. looks this year? Joe Mixon arguably the best RB in the North Coast Section.

  • g

On EC well said dj, but neither team scored in 15 minutes until BOD started turning the ball over and the scrambling by their QB resulted in one play where he must of lost 30 yards or more running backwards. Hopefully the tough preseason will make them stronger to win it all.

The 4-way Cal-DLS-Logan-Pitt group scrimmage, now in it’s seventh year if memory serves, always has had a 4-count passing window. No throw by 4 secs? QB grounds it or touched (or gets concussed by a knucklehead ignoring that rule.) The 10 second comment is superfluous. It’s not a measurement event anyway. Coaches are NOT going to tip their hand with their best plays/playmakers as these four inevitably meet in NCS at some point and EACH team films this scrimmage. Frankly, they run the same plays seen on film the past few years anyway, just the kids’ abilities are the variable. Hardly a barometer of what spells in reg. season.

    G,
Yes I agree it wasn’t a perfect game for Ec or for that matter Bishop O but that is what scrimmages are for to work out the kinks,it’s to early to assume that the teams that showed up in the scrimmage will be the same teams that show up in regular season….unfortunately in so far as the Qb scrambling that’s kind of his game he will lose yardage at times trying to make a play but last year he averaged about 60 yards per game rushing …in regards to no one scoring in the first 15 minutes it doesn’t really matter when they score its who scores the most in last years playoff game BOD scored first only to see Ec score 19 unanswered points but I really believe BOD deserves credit I was impressed with their defense particularly their run defense who totally dominated ,Ec showed no ability to run at all……Ec defense will be severely challenged in preseason playing teams that will show them varying offensive schemes. From Bellarmine who will pound the ball,Sutter wing T,Cardinal New spread and Campo who passes and runs the ball equally .Win or lose that should prep them well for the playoffs.

Chalk, Wing t backs don’t look at the defense using their peripheral to find the hole. The halfback runs parallel and follows the pulling guard to get him through the hole, he’s not using his peripheral to scan the entire defense for hole. So you are wrong “fired before the season” coach.

Singleback spread running backs run parallel to the line of scrimmage too. The spread seems to be run everywhere. There are many flaws in your coaching knowledge. No wonder the wingt coach fired you. You don’t understand the wing t. Maybe you can go back now that I’ve schooled you and beg for your job back.

  • Island Chief

If its so easy to press him why did he catch balls over every team during the summer? I heard he was putting your DBs to shame at the Fremont camp.

  • Dj

    Waldo,
Lets do it 2 hour drive I’m making the trip

  • chalktalk

he didnt catch a ball dont think u heard that he did, keenan boxed him out and picked it off SO STOP IT AND WALKED IT OFF
U PROVED MY POINT AGAIN BUDDY
NO REAL RUNNING BACK WANTS 2 RUN A WING-T

  • chalktalk

actually i dun talking 2 u it was nice but u dont know anything about actually playing the game go read another book……………

  • EBAY Prep Fan

Actually he did catch a TD on SLz at Mission SJ. The DB also had a pick on an under thrown ball. SLz did have athletes too. Were you on the staff at that camp?

  • Island Chief

Doss is better than every player on the San Lorenzo team. Fired coach included. Ask Dublin their impressions of Doss. I’m sure they would show their approval.

    EBAY prep fan
i had my hat and coat on with one foot out the door at that point he told the kids i was delusional to think they could run a no huddle pistol spread with audibles so he scraped the whole thing… IM a team player so i was willing to tryout the wing-t, plus i really like that group of kids I pleaded with the guy to at least use the wrist band
” Y CALL A PLAY AND U HAVE NO IDEA IF THE DEFENSE HAS CALL THE PERFECT DEFENSE 4 THAT OFFENSIVE PLAY” his response is ” if u execute it doesnt matter what D they play or how many they have in the box” WHICH IS TRUE if ur that much more talented than ur opponent i said. what i would like to know is how many times does the RB have 2 get shocked in the face before u think enuff is enuuf (I BET IF HE WAS THE ONE GETTING SHOCKED IN THE FACE HE WOULD NOT RUN THAT OFFENSE).. U SEE THE GUY WAS THE OC AT SAN LEANDRO and san leandro had far better talent than most schools in the area .Not to mention the HAAL was a down league for years these factors contributed to this guys cockiness…
THE NOT FUNNY THING IS I WOULD WATCH SAN LEANDRO GET BLOWN OUT IN THE PRE-SEASON BY TEAMS THEY SHOULD HAVE BEAT. and the yelling and blaming the kids would start.
u know y the kids quit on u “cuz their getting shocked in the face” I JUST DONT ASK KIDS TO DO THINGS IM NOT WILLING TO DO MYSELF but thats just me………….
