Miramonte High football team features strong passing game

The Miramonte High football team’s offense is in good hands this year.

With quarterback Drew Anderson and a host of experienced receivers back in the fold, the Matadors have the potential to put up some big numbers in the passing game.

And though it does have some holes to fill, Miramonte — which has two runner up finishes and a league championship in the past three years — again figures to be a major player in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League title race.

Miramonte’s last game was played on Marin Catholic’s field and ended their season 59-6 in the playoffs last year. What has changed this year besides Goff becoming the starting QB for Cal? It doesn’t appear as if MC will drop off much with Mihalek taking over behind center and Celis still catching balls; both D1 commits.

Did Miramonte stand pat from last year or did they get better? With Anderson coming back for his senior year as QB and depth at running back this season, they look to be a better team. I suspect there might be a little drop off with the loss of WR’s Deutz & Williams, but Fuller & Paoletti should capably take over.

The Mat’s defense should take a step up this year, but I’m afraid it may not be enough to hold back MC on Saturday. I don’t see a 53 point defeat on Saturday for Miramonte, but I don’t see a victory either.
