Man, time to eat my crow on Logan. Been out of town the past week and half, but was shocked when I got home to see that they had beaten SRV. Expect the Wolves to bounce back, but really thought they had the horses that Logan didn’t this year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch in November. If the Colts are playing this well right now, I’d expect that they handle Heritage, B-High, and BOD before the showdown against DLS. My early season prediction of a tough record for the Colts seems to have been way off.

  • Joey

WHAT IS CLAYTON VALLEY DOING IN THE TOP 10??? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE???? THEY BEAT UP ON A TEAM 66-6 that is ranked 1,500 in CALIFORNIA! They play all creampuff teams besides De La Salle!

  • Mark Souza

Calm down Joey, you may get an ulcer! Clayton Valley is a good team. They are in a league that is not very good. I think its great that they stepped up to play DLS and they played a relatively good game. With that said, I see them as a #10 above Amador. I think Campo, Foothill and DV all beat em

  • Rolltide

I am looking foreword to the Campo El Cerrito game. I think Campo has the discipline to hang tough with EC

  • FB Guru

I heard that the EC/Campo game was moved to Campo this Friday. Can anyone confirm?

  • chalk talk

good morning high school football fans.
not only cant u not hit a defenseless wr what ever that means but
ur first amendment right have also been taken away!!!
if AMERICA BECOMES THIS POLITICAL CORRECT SOCIETY
AND THE REST of the world is still violent, we lose our edge
this country was founded on violence. THE PEN HAS NEVER BEEN MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD the pen has always had a sword right behind it. THE GAME OF FOOTBALL AS WE NO IT NO LONGER EXISTS. cant hit him there- flag for that- thats illegal too- if the rules keep changing at this pace u might as well play a video game!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • chalk talk

if JALEN plays they blow the bells out.
i pick EC to win state if they stop throwing kids of the field.
    which is a big if

  • redandblue2

The EC-Campo game has been moved to Campolindo, 7pm, Friday night.
Will EC blow Campo out as they did to Cardinal Newman last week or will the Cougars hang in there as they have the past two years, winning 16-14 in 2011 & losing 16-13 in 2012? Coach Macy has his work cut out for him to devise a game plan to slow down the Gauchos since EC has pretty much seen everthing Campo has in their playbook over the past 5 seasons of playing one another.
I took the opportunity to watch the Miramonte-Analy game video on the NFHS network website. Miraman, that quite possibly was the ugliest first half I have ever seen; 5 turnovers in the first 13 minutes of the game. How in the world did Analy ever beat Pittsburg with that offense shooting themselves in the foot the entire game? Even the Mats passing game was not in sync most of the game.
Miramonte should handle Alameda this Friday night, but watch out for WR Doss; he could single handedly win the game for the Hornets if their QB has a good game.

    I want u guys to look AT # 7 on slz he is a 190 lbs 6’0″
with about 5% body fat run a 4.6 can dunk a basketball off verts.

WHEN a coaching staff as a whole thinks that they have to control every step a player makes on a football field and i do mean every, is overbearing. A PERSON THAT RUN A 4.4 IS NOT BOND BY THE LIMITATION OF A PERSON THAT RUNS 4.7 that’s just simple logic DAM… these dude were not good athletes and they have no idea whats is physically possible on the football field.
THEY OOH AND AAH LIKE LITTLE GIRLS WHEN athletes make basic moves. most coaches would harness this kids angry and skill set and make it a viable asset to their program not cut him.

note he also cut the best player at ALBANY big DOM a 6’3″ 245lb TE/LB, with some of the best feet i have ever seen on big man.

( IF UR ALWAYS CUTTING UR BEST PLAYER U NEED TO LOOK AT URSELF UR COACHING METHODS AND UR SELFISH WAYS.)
bottom-line ask a kid y he’s doing what he’s doing if its a logical explanation let him perform SO WE ALL CAN BE ENTERTAIN!!!
if they dont let him back on the team ill be training him.
he will be running 4.4 and benching 3 plates by summer

  • chalk talk

man i luv this new format lmao

  • David Sparkle

Clayton has won the DVAL ONCE in 5 Years. Yes they are good, but top 4 teams in league just as good, minus not having a D1 RB last year

  • David Sparkle

The ONLY time a FB Player picks up speed , NFL included , to HIT a player is when the offensive player is NOT looking or stretching for a ball. NO player will hit Marschon Lynch head on as they do a defenseless player. WHY cause its the easiest and cheapest play in football. I am in love with new rules

  • renegades10

Murphy took CV from 6-5 to NorCal bowl while they destroyed every team in the DVAL along the way. I don’t care what they did four or three or two years ago. This is a different team with a different coach. They’ve got a stud RB once again who broke multiple tackles against DLS, something that doesn’t happen very easily. They’ll dominate the DVAL and make it two in a row.

  • David Sparkle

again, there good. But do not deserve the accolades for 1 year. we’ll see. Hope they do well. Offense is based on complete confusion vs. skilled players. If you can run half good, you’ll do well. Compliments to Coach. Not sure they destroyed Northgate.. but ok..

  • Pez

Miraman posting as Pez…my usual name

The Mira/Analy game was ugly. But Mira controlled offense, defense and outcoached them, so I’m OK with it. Some things could have gone their way and then a close game, some things could have gone our way and then a blow-out! The score worked out about right. How Analy beat Pitt is a mystery of the universe, but Analy is a good D3 team and a good win for Mira.

Mira showed a strong running game. Some of the big “softies” on the line looked very good and defense is getting some pressure. When passing game is on, we should be the best balanced team in DFAL.

I worry about Alameda because of week off and really beating Mira is all upside for them; they already 2-0 with likely 6-4 or 7-3 (after 3-7 year). Analy had #1 and we shut him down with #22 and support. Doss may get his, but I don’t think he beats us.

  • chalk talk

DAVID HAVE u heard of lott atwater lynch BIG ED REED HARRISON 2 name a few…

  • chalk talk

I dont know where u should hit marschon HE PLAYS HIS LEVERAGE VERY WELL. but i bet those guy i mention would give it a shot. DID U SEE JACK TATUM HIT EARL CAMPBELL same difference. when u hit somebody like marschon and knock him loose THERE IS NO BETTER HIGH LOL

  • Joey

Destroying the DVAL isn’t an accomplishment. Breaking tackles? Not really…. last time I checked, De La Salle shut them out completely in the second half and allowed less than 90 yards. De La Salle should have score at TD on the int, and about 3 more inside CVs redzone. They beat up on bad teams and schedule a loss every year to make themselves have a high point ranking for the playoffs and Regionals. I hope Northgate knocks them off their high horse since no other team in D2 is good… Play D1 and lose almost every game Clayton Valley.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

@MiraMan, Well I’m looking for your boys to come up big against our Island Rivals. Jet Pride!

  • David Sparkle

BUT you had to go back 3 decades. Most of those guys yes can hit. But majority of biggest were on defenless players. Its simple science. 2 equals forces coming at eachother doesn’t work. 1 force going to ball players speed up because they know blow is easier. Why is it BIGGEST decleaters are on a interception or punt return? Cause other player isn’t looking. Crowd goes nuts. Not me. Easiest and cheapest shot there is. That’s why I’m for new rules. Watch this weekend MOST players will AVOID a direct hit when both players can see each other. At ALL levels. But not when defenseless. ONLY time they light up.

  • David Sparkle

Yes it is. All teams equal. Just like d1. The pool of kids to choose from is far greater. Its not quality of team , its probability of getting 11 kids that are decent as opposed to 4/5 at d2

  • chalk talk

I understand what ur trying to say i just disagree. The QB should not hang a WR out to dry if he does there is a price to pay.
I PLAYED wr i practice 4 hour on a trampoline so i could learn how to avoid those very blow. I JUST THINK THE PLAYERS SHOULD EVOLVE not the rules…

  • chalk talk

i dont think the players are affraid of the collision i think that heavy fine is the big detour- ant

  • renegades10

I don’t know if you were actually at the game (I was), but Harrison was an absolute stud. He went for 176 yards rushing, many of which came after contact and yes he broke a lot of tackles and made players miss. Here’s a question, how many individual players have run for 150+ yards against DLS in the last four years, not too many and that includes some great backs, even ones playing out of a double wing, wing t, etc… Harrison wasn’t getting those yards against the backups either. I know DLS shut them out in the second half, the defense made the stops when they needed them, that doesn’t change the game that Harrison had. Ask any DLS fan (I happen to be one of them) about him, they all came away impressed. That would be a big upset if Northgate can beat CV. They are a very good, fundamentally sound, and physical squad and I wouldn’t be shocked to see them repping D2 in the SBG’s in December and potentially give the likely rep Serra (Gardena) a good game.

  • Waldo

idk smaller guys should always headhunt if you ask me… crown of the helmet to the face always gets em…. its just football… what does everyone just want to play sarcastaball or somthin… idk if this applies to ur convo but im gettin tired of this pansy stuff with headshot penalties

  • Cover2Lew

Never thought about it that way. And why I sort of agree with you I believe that the rational behind going low on a player such as Lynch would be to further/sustain their career. Not to injure or cheep shot them.

  • Joey

Doesn’t change them scheduling creampuffs all year…. The RB isn’t a stud either. Double Wing rbs should get over 100 yards a game or your double wing shouldn’t be a double wing…

  • renegades10

So it’s your opinion that because Bellarmine’s RB’s couldn’t get over 100 against DLS the last two years they played, they shouldn’t run the double wing that’s won them numerous WCAL and CCS titles? We aren’t talking about team rushing stats here we are talking about individual rushing stats. Guess you must be the smartest one in the room since everybody from the reporters to the people actually at the game were very impressed with Harrison.

    [Food 4 thought}
When i was coming up the best football mind i knew was the HEAD COACH. In this day and age with social media, ESPN, youtube and the BLOG, coaches have to understand the players are receiving football knowledge from various place. It use to be just ur daddy and ur uncles. With that being said if ur teaching are contradictory to the masses and u dont already have a winning program, it will be hard to get BUY IN. ( didnt u hate when ur momma use to say cuz i said so. Well in this day an age u have to have a certain amount of credibility to get away with that) RESPECT IS EARNED

    DFAL Predictions:

    1. Campo – Still #1 with a nice win over Washington. I would have to add that their opponents combined record is 1-6 (yes, but against solid competition) and they haven’t really taken anyone to the woodshed (but Campo has won all by comfortable margins). Just saying, are they a great team or good team with solid coaching? This week against a solid El Cerrito, they get beat by a couple of scores against one of the two best D3s in NCS. I think El Cerrito gets ahead and then gets conservative, preferring to take safe win over a nemesis that has given them trouble over the years.

    El Cerrito 28 – Campo 17

    2. Miramonte – Its a toss-up between Miramonte and Acalanes (and Campo for that matter), but Miramonte had a pretty complete victory over an Analy team that owned a clear victory over Pitt. Now comes an Alameda team that is improved, has two wins in the bank and has had a week off to prepare. Miramonte won’t overlook an improved Alameda team in this home game, but will get burned a couple of times in a game that will be closer than last year. Also look for Miramonte to get the high powered passing attack back on track – I’ll be looking for Hameed, aka “the ghost” to see if he is a) in uniform b) 100% and c) able to make a difference.

    Miramonte 38 – Alameda 21

    3. Acalanes – Even with a nice win over Irvington, I kicked them down a notch because the QB play is erratic and the offense seems fairly simplistic: hand-off to Pete Mitchell up the middle or pass to Robbie Stern across the middle for 15. Defense seems pretty rugged, but did allow a lot of nice runs to Irvington. Against Tennyson, I expect Handy (if healthy) to have a big day and score some for the Lancers. Acalanes will do just enough to win with a couple of scores on the ground and a couple in the air. Outside chance of an upset if Acalanes QB creates some turnovers like weeks 0 and 2.

    Acalanes 28 – Tennyson 21

    4. Las Lomas – On the move to #4 because I’m starting to think their defense is the next best thing in DFAL. They took their 31-6 beating at the hands of Foothill, but gave more resistance than I expected. Now comes a great test against cross-town rival Northgate. The only team that has given Northgate any trouble is San Marin, and I don’t think Manny will be in the house. Las Lomas keeps is close early, but it’s not enough.

    Northgate 31 – Las Lomas 17

    5. Alhambra – Big win over Ygnatio Valley, but it is Ygnatio Valley. In moving them down, I am going with my gut that the offense is not as potent as it will need to be in league and defense is not much improved over last year. This week versus Maria Carillo, I think they run up against a team hungry for their first win. I watched the film of the Analy/Maria Carillo game and they have a solid running attack that will give Alhambra trouble. It could go either way, but I’m feeling Carillo.

    Maria Carillo 31 – Alhambra 28

    6. Dougherty Valley – DV gutted out a 14-13 win over American. I’m missing this pick every week and this week will likely be no different. Antioch lost last week to Santa Rosa and I thought they were better than that. While DV continues to surprise, I’m sticking with my gut that Antioch gets the win.

    Antioch 21 – Dougherty Valley 14

    7. Dublin – They got destroyed by Montgomery as I predicted. This week they get to beat-up on Ygnatio Valley before a long trudge through league play.

    Dublin 31- Ygnatio Valley 13

  • DJ

There is no secrets between these 2 teams, they know each other well.I believe this will be a close game. For Campo they Need to establish a running game to keep Ec defense off balance and Ec needs to eliminate the penalties which hurt them in the Newman game….I would give Ec the edge with all the returning talent and the stiffer preseason schedule they have faced thus far……Coach Macy is one of the best coaches in the bay and will have Campo ready.

  • David Sparkle

Pansy is in the head shot of a defenseless player. again, if you head shot / or accelerate while Lynch is coming straight at you, NOW you can hit. Its the hypocrisy of only HITTING HARD when player is defenseless or NOT LOOKING..

  • David Sparkle

Thats right cover2lew, but where is that thought process on a defenseless or player that is not looking ( ie punt returns , interceptions )Players EYES light up. Why? Its an easier hit than a straight up, running back is coming at you type tackle tackle.. That would be a BIG hit , a defensless player is NOT a big hit. Dont get me wrong, its fair, but DONT thud your chest

  • HAAL2007

Victor im not worried about your non coaching self

  • chalk talk

didnt they kick u off 4 being a cowardice SEE THATS THE PROBLEM A BUNCH OF COWARDS HANG together AND SHARE COACH KNOWLEDGE …

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

This new system has run off all the usual suspects. Kinda bad because sometimes the banter was funny. Well we got Serra tonite and i expect my guys to step up and go hard! Pez(AKA MiraMan) Tell Coach to beat the Hor-Nets into the ground! Jet Pride!

  • EB Prep Fan

    Old Meddler
Wouldn’t it be a whole lot more satisfying to beat a 4-0 Hornet team?

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

@EB Prep Fan,While i must admit to the logic of what you say, The truth is, I just don’t have a whole lot of love for the Guys on the other side of the Island(Not Personal, Just on a sports level) So when the Uppercrust Hornets lose,The Dumpster divers(Island Chief’s words) on the Westside keep on going hard. It will just get their blood up for the showdown at the Swamp. Jet Pride!

  • EB Prep Fan

Understood. But keep in mind, the Island Chief or anyone else on these blogs don’t represent a particular team or fan base. Comes down to it, it’s just coaches and kids that decide these games. We’re just old dudes having fun talking about it. Good luck tonight!

  • Pez

Don’t worry, we’ll giter done! As the redneck comedian says.

If Miramonte gets up by a lot, fingers crossed, I’ll head over to the Campo/El Cerrito game.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

I agree with you east bay. Go get em pez.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Well Nice work Miramonte! Well Serra was just too strong for us. What can i say. My head is bloody but not bowed. We lost to a very good team tonite. Jet Pride!

  • Ballhawk

Wow….don’t know what happened to El Cerrito tonight. Campo completely outplayed the Gauchos. It looks like Calhoun was hurt, but Campo better coached (as expected), but also more physical. Their offense is as good or better than any of the recent Cougar teams.

  • Pez

I was watching the 2nd half and I still couldn’t believe. Campo beat El Cerrito in every phase of the game. If I’d just shown up and didn’t know who was playing Campo, I’d have thought it was Tennyson or Irvington, some lower level team. The most shocking part is that the DBs physically abused EC’s receivers and Campos receivers took passes away from EC’s DBs. It was a dismantling!

  • Ballhawk

Campo’s defense looked respectable tonight. One of EC’s TD’s came on a kickoff return. I’m not sure whether to credit Campo defense or lack of EC creativity on offense. Campo-Miramonte should be a classic…over/under could be three digits.

  • YoMama

The usual suspects are back! both island teams destroyed however Serra is a whole lot better than Miramonte.

  • YoMama

Out at Winton Dr. tonite walkin’ the dogs. DeLa laid out a talented Del Oro team 41-03. Cant wait until next week vs. SRV. Folsom won 67-36 however a close game for one half.
