Irvington High’s football team has forfeited its opening win on Sept. 6 against Ygnacio Valley due to the use of an ineligible player, Irvington coach Zach Silvernale confirmed today.
Silvernale said that he noticed on a player’s transcript that the player had taken the wrong summer school class and was ineligible, and Silvernale reported it. Silvernale said the player competed in the Vikings’ first two games, but Irvington’s second game was already a loss (to Acalanes).
Irvington’s record is now 2-2 overall. Ygnacio Valley’s record is now 1-4 overall.

That must really suck for Irvington, YV is mostly an easy win for anybody. Did this player play for the team when Irvington beat Newark Memorial last week? If so, that win needs to be taken away as well.

  • Derrick Watson

No we caught it before Newark. He did not play that game.
