How does a 4-6 Hornet sting an 8-2 Jet????

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Won’t run and hide. Novato, Showed up and played like a team that wanted to win. Focused and good execuition. Deserved to Win. Our Kids, Most of them looked Flat, Seemed to be half asleep. Looks like saturdays are not good for us. Upside, Returning quite a few players and bringing up kids from a good JV program. Going into the Off season with determination and the desire to get better. Jet Pride!

  • Pez

Sounds like the defense did pretty well. I mean, you’re not always going to get shut-outs. But lack of punch on offense finally caught up with you. Coaches and players deserve much credit for getting as many wins as they did.

I do look for Encinal to be a force next year. Is it true that Encinal was playing a frosh QB and frosh RB by the end of the game? That’s both a sign of desperation and a sign of a potentially bright future.

Northgate/Mira game should be a good one. Hope to see you there!

  • Girls Soccer rules

Matt, any more detail about the SRV firing of Football coach Kessler? I was surprised to hear about this news during the NCS playoffs. It must have been for something scandelous or parental BS. He has been very good at his job as FB coach. I have watched several practices and games over the years and noticed how organized and well run the program was. Also SRV has turned out some very good players during his tenure at SRV.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Yes Pez, The QB was a Freshman but I really liked what i saw in him Good arm, good wheels. We’ll be back Stronger than ever and I wish nothing but the best for you and Miramonte. Jet Pride!

  • barononionfb

I too was sorry to hear Mark Kessler got the axe. I thought he was one of the best up and coming coaches in the “land”. I doubt if it was because of parent BS; he seemed to be quite respected by them.
I hope SR keeps Aaron Becker on as head coach. He really knows the game AND is willing to listen to people.

  • PERKIN

    Pez,
good luck to ya’ll. don’t let case hit you 1st. And I know your going to get those boys prepared for a physical game. Casa think they are hitters man, but you seen it before. Get fucn chippy blood. HIT BACK!

  • Thewatchman

OFMC who do you think is going to be the starting QB next year for encinal?

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Purvis. The Kid was Good under fire, Good arm, Good wheels and smart. Never got rattled. He’s the man unless Joe got someboy I have not seen. Jet Pride!

  • Pez

I’m focused on Northgate. They look pretty good on paper. If we can beat them, and I think we should, we can hang with Clayton Valley or Casa Grande. No easy games from here on out!

  • EB Prep Fan

The new shiny toy always looks better, but the old one that you built yourself sometimes is sturdy and more reliable…..

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

EB, I’m Old school so i gotta agree with you but I guess we gotta leave it up To Coach Joe to decide If there needs or will be a change or not But for this Kid, The future (At least high school) Looks bright. Jet Pride!

  • Thewatchman

I still stay the frosh qb
a huge favorite to win the job? Do you see number 11 playing line? Or a skill position?
OFMC or possibly even trying to transfer?

  • EB Prep Fan

You said, “win the job”. They will have to see who wins the job through hard work in the offseason, spring and summer. #11 is not gonna wilt and ask to play OL. He met the challenge of a transfer this year and won the job. He will work hard and fight for the job next year too. I’m sure that the QB that gives Coach Tenorio the best chance to win will play next year. I highly doubt he is even thinking transfer. He bleeds Encinal blue! You can’t transfer every time you run into a hurdle! You have to meet the challenge and find a way to overcome it.

  • FB Guru

    Any word out of SRV?

  • Jack

The longer it takes them to cite a reason the more serious the reason is perceived

  • EBAL fan

The District nor school will release anything about the termination as he is a campus teacher and is protected by tenure and union guidelines.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Big Suprise! Hardy Quit! What do all of you think about that. He went R.O.A.D. of them Before the season started.

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

EB, Your right he’s not going to wilt nor play OL But I do see him playing Maybe LB. I get the feeling He’d probably prefer to do that but i’m not around enough anymore to really say. Coach Joe will go with the guy that will give the Team it’s best chance to win But please believe that HE WILL play. Jet Pride!

  • barononionfb

O’Dowd’s demise may not be that much Hardy Nickerson’s fault. Like to see O’Dowd with a new principal.

  • Formerdragon2006

Hardy is the biggest piece of crap I have met. Anything else is bull terrible coach. Thank goodness he quit. Pathetic loser.

  • chalk talk

What’s so bad about HARDY Nickerson. he knows the game and he can coach the game which is more than I can say for most coaches. WINNERS compete so when someone ties ur hands and makes it so u cant compete u walk away!!!

OFMC….Sorry You guys lost I was really looking forward to a possible 2nd matchup between Ec and the Jets.Though the Jets seemed down from previous years I think it would’ve still been a interesting matchup……I saw Encinal coach and players at Ec’s playoff Game against Tamalpais ,Do you think they were possibly looking past Novato and looking ahead to facing Ec?

  • Old Former Meddling Coach

Looking past Novato? Not the Coaching Staff but the kids MIGHT have been. But for some reason they have been slow getting out of the gate this year. I have not been to enough practices this year to form a opinion but I KNOW the Staff did everything they could to get the kids ready. Saturdays don’t seem to be good for us and that goes back quite a few years. Kids looked like they could’nt wake up. Flat. To Be honest i expected us to win but A focused and Motivated Novato had other ideas. Jet Pride!

  • Formerdragon2006

Thanks for a good laugh. These are the least amount of points odowd has scored in over 35 years. Thank goodness he is out certainly makes my day that much better.

  • Pez

I’ve got no particular grudge against Hardy Nickerson, but the drop in wins from season to season under his watch is pretty hard to ignore. They went 10-2, 9-3, 7-5, 3-7. That’s a pretty stark pattern. The 7-5 season last year has to be particularly disappointing given the level of talent. Also, the numbers on the frosh and JV programs are so low, I can’t see how they can maintain playing at 3 levels next year. Hardy’s fault? I don’t know, but coaches have been fired for much less!

  • Perkin

Do you think he was forced out?

  • chalk talk

stats don’t tell the whole story

THE KIDS ARE COMING INto high school MUCH SOFTER THAN when I was in high school. THE MOTIVATION 4 a soft kid was always to challenge his man hood if u do that today ull get fired 4 being homophobic. Times have change we are no longer breeding men. NOW ITS SEEMS TO B SOME sensitive HYBRID HERMAPHRODITE

  • chalk talk

let me have a bucket full of bad judgement
with a side order of WHAT THE HELL DID I DO THAT 4
AND LET ME WASH THAT DOWN WITH A GLASS OF cant get right!!!

lmao DOES THIS SOUND LIKE UR HEAD COACH

  • EB Prep Fan

I think he wanted out! Also, Pez brings up the most important thing….the decline in participation at the lower levels. The talent is there I believe, they just don’t want to play! It seems the program under his watch is not real healthy.

  • Perkin

I’m sure you don’t have specific numbers but do you have general idea of the drop in numbers (120, 100, 90 ect.). I thought numbers there had stayed pretty good over there.

  • EB Prep Fan

Lets just say, numbers were not pretty good this year. Their jv team won their league this year, but they started the year with extremely low numbers…..

  • David Phillip

Speaks a lot of what Coach P was able to do there. Prolonged legitimacy isn’t something that everyone can accomplish.

  • Perkin

Nickerson played much stronger schedules then Coach Perenon.

  • barononionfb

Oops, Windsor is not in the Eastbay. (Starts getting kinda thin down around 14 or 15 for the Eastbay).
    31.(17) Foothill(Pleasanton) 8-3

  • EB Prep Fan

He did play a tough schedule this year, but 2 of his 3 wins were against teams that went 0-10! He lost a league game 46-3 with a possible NCS bid on the line? If that’s not mailing it in, I don’t know what is? You cant tell me that SL is 42 points better than BOD. Maybe being a HC and running an entire program was not as easy as it looked???

  • Pez

Looks like around 70 based on what’s on MaxPreps for all three levels.

  • Perkin

    @ EB Prep Fan
I am definitely not defending Nickerson I think he did a horrible job with BOD specifically developing athletes and a system. He chose to player much stronger teams then what BOD did under Coach P. He plays three average teams in non-league instead of Terra Nova (but who knew bad choice), Valley Christian, & Logan. Maybe its just a down year.

    @ Pez
I looked at their school page and I counted 100 I figured that was considered down. But that could have been early in the year and they might be down to 70.

  • Formerdragon2006

How to did coach perenon schedule soft teams? We played teams that were in the ebal at least once a year, we traveled to san Francisco to play teams out there. We won a section championship against a campolindo team that was pretty damn good. The league was no where near the same as it was in the early 2000′s. San Leandro played de la salle tough and lost 14-0 in the championship game. Not even Folsom could contain them. Nickerson is absolutely terrible glad he is gone.

  • chalk talk

Coaching and what u were allowed to do while coaching was alot different when coach P first started. Thats y they got him out of there. Most men i mean real me dont compromise their integrity for anything. The head coach use to be the most powerful person at the school if not the community. NOW U HAVE THESE politically correct A.D.’s and principles trying to dictate how warriors should be trained. I EXPECT ALOT MORE QUALITY COACHES TO STEP DOWN or step away.

  • barononionfb

    Boom44, AlanJobb, and anyone else interested;
I believe that it was during the 2009 FB season that a lawsuit in behalf of a foster boy who had been playing on the Placer FB team in Auburn was filed in the Alameda County Superiorru Court in Oakland. The school had neglected to fill out a special form for foster children who transfer and play school sponsored sports as required by CIF. When this came to the attention of SJS Commissioner Pete Saco, the boy had to quit the team and Placer had to forfeit their previous games, and Placer’s won-loss record was not good enough for the SJS D4 playoffs.
Although SJS enforces transfer rules among its member schools, it was a CIF rule that made the boy ineligible, and affected the forfeits, so the suit was filed in Alameda where CIF had its headquarters. The judge presiding over the case first issued an injunction temporarily halting the SJS D4 playoffs, than ruling that the CIF special form for foster children transfers was in violation of California law protecting foster children from discrimination and therefore, was state unconstitutional. The playoffs began a week late(lucky for SJS and the CIF Bowls that SJS D4 were only 3 round playoffs) with Placer’s record now putting the Hillmen into them and the boy back on the team.
The next year, CIF packed up and left Alameda for Sacramento where they’d be under the jurisdiction of the Sacramento County Superior Court.
One can make their own conclusion why CIF moved headquarters, and most likey the ruling would have been similiar whether it had been tried instead in Sacramento or Roseville. But, I think its arguable the Bay Area courts are the most litigious friendly in California, if not the USA, even the Planet Earth.
This makes coaching around here a very challenging
( maybe frustrating is a better word) task.
