Boys Soccer: Playoff Seeding Predictions, All-Star Game, Rankings, Standings, Stats

It’s playoff time.

This is what I think the committee will do. Without further adieu, here are my predictions

Division I

1. Clayton Valley
2. Berkeley
3. Santa Rosa
4. San Ramon Valley
5. Dublin
6. Monte Vista
7. Heritage
8. Foothill
9. Pittsburg (Pitt will host in this scenario)
10. DLS
11. Freedom
12. Cal
13. AV
14. CP
15. San Leandro
16. Irvington

I really, really struggled with the final spot as either Logan or Mt. Eden could have got it. Mt. Eden beat Irvington earlier in the year, but I am thinking the committee may give more credence to Logan having 11 wins, and being a second place team. If I am wrong here, I think it is Mt. Eden, and I think Logan’s slip in their last two matches may have cost them.

Division II

1. Redwood
2. Newark
3. Montgomery
4. Rancho Cotate
5. Campolindo
6. Richmond
7. BOD
8. Casa Grande
9. SLZ (they would host Casa)
10. De Anza (they would host BOD)
11. Arroyo
12. Concord
13. Livermore
14. Northgate
15. Las Lomas
16. Acalanes

I think Las Lomas finishing ahead of Acalanes gets them in and keeps Albany out. I think if Acalanes had finished higher, it would be Acalanes at No. 15 and Albany at No. 16.

Division III

1. YV
2. Marin Academy
3. Terra Linda
4. Drake
5. Piedmont
6. Miramonte
7. Branson
8. Kennedy
9. St. Mary
10. Cardinal Newman
11. San Marin
12. Hercules
13. Berean Christian

Matt Smith

  • Toe Kicker

I was at MV v Frredom and SR v Heritage. It will be SR winning over MV. Not too many people have seen SR play, they are good and fast paced.

  • Matt Smith

    Record topped. Well done, lads.

    The new post is up.

  • Matt Smith

    I’m very, very sneaky.

  • Unkn0wn1

That’s very true, the ref ended the game right when the clock on the scoreboard hit the 2:00 mark, meaning he added no stoppage time and ended the game early. Horrendous center ref, side refs were very good. Not trying to favor Dublin, but they were on the path to the equalizer if the ref didn’t end the game so early. Dublin fans were outraged, I hope the NCS committee does not allow refs like the center ref at Dublin vs. MV to ref important games like that again. Absolutely disgraceful to the reffing community.

  • Unkn0wn1

He even ended the game when there was 2 minutes of regulation and added no stoppage time. Dublin had the momentum and were just dominating the game at that point.

  • Robby

I feel like if you want to be a referee. You need to at least run a mile in 7 minutes. Please get in shape

  • Ron

Very funny and classic how the losing team always end up blaming officials! Bad Enough the team was down 3-0, the official had a huge part to do with the score becoming 3-0? Usually it’s games like that where you think you can come back and feel as if you deserved to win where the referee gets mentioned. Regardless of the referee being good or bad allowing three goals should be the biggest worry of the team, because that can change, the referee cannot. Let’s be good losers because at the end of the day the best team on that field won.

  • That is descent! Yellow card!

  • If that is the worst you’ve seen, you need to watch more games. Dublin got to run with MV and they couldn’t match up. Plain and simple. I think Dublin was fortunate the score was that close. Better team won for sure. Had nothing to do with the refs.

  • Love it. Best way to take a ref out of the game is to outplay the opponent. Totally agree with you Ron. Monte Vista won the night hands down.

  • No. Wishful thinking on your part. They lost and it was deserved. MV dominated. Dublin barely put much together. And we finallt found a ref who wouldn’t put up with all the unsportsmanlike conduct of Dublin. It was great to watch.

  • So was Dublin, busy doing something else and lost the game..

  • Calling out HS players by name is classless. And I watched the game, Dublin got run by all the boys you criticized.

  • Yeah, and they lost to Amador & Livermore too! Shoulda lost to AV again.

  • Barely. They did not look good vs. AV or MV.

  • Oops.

  • Are you kidding? and Elvis is still alive, the Lochness Monster is real, and OJ didn’t do it. What a crock!

  • There was no fight. Dublin tried to show off, Amador pushed them off the ball with force. A lot of bad acting and fake injuries. Bald center mid shoulda been carded for his fake head injury and stumbling around like he was dizzy. 2 minutes later he is back on the field. IF he had a concussion or head injury why was he back on the field. If no injury, then carded for unsportsmanlike conduct. Dublin knows they slid by. That’s why they packed the defense and kicked the ball as far out of bounds as possible. No ball boys to fetch. And if AV was offside(s), so be it. But it showed they were threatening and Dublin was scared.
Amador was the better team. Dublin benefited from the weather. Which couldn’t save them vs MV. Amador woulda played MV closer. Count on it.

  • NO facts.

  • ChasingShadows

Classless is referring to people behind their backs. I only speak of kids I know and say things that I will say to their faces when I see them. They know the respect I have for them.

  • SRV fan

And where are you now? WACC Foothill Champ handled

  • SRV fan

    Haha, how’s it looking now?

  • ChasingShadows

I am here still. Watched the SRV boys handle their business tonight. Kind of sketch in the 2nd half though. Could have very easily lost the game as well with all the corners they gave up, but the defense held strong tonight. Crosstown battle for NCS should be fun to watch. These boys all know each other very well. I am sure there will be some healthy smack talking when they get back to club. Congratulations to both squads.

  • Nope. If you know them, keep it between yourselves. Posting it publicly is wrong. These kids have to endure the public comments from their friends and such because of your statements. While I am glad you have a personal relationship with them, not cool.
I would never want you calling me out like that, by name, in a public forum, no matter how close we were. If you had something to say to them, then DO say it to their face. Then they can have the chance to respond to your face and tell you if they want you “posting it”.

  • From before the first round… My comment:
“Anyone for San Ramon Valley as the #1 seed?
    Here’s my thinking, they
finished undefeated in EBAL. Who does that? They also finished with a
better winning percentage than last year, when they won the EBAL and
    then won the NCS final.
From a committee stand point, when was the last time they gave #1 to anyone other than the EBAL?”
Guess I was right, SRV shoulda been #1 & MV #2.
Hope everyone enjoyed the EBAL playoffs!

  • Luman

Hindsight is always perfect. If you watch the highlights of the regular season game between Santa Rosa and SRV, it would be hard to justify making SRV a higher seed than Santa Rosa.

Also, Santa Rosa had a “better” loss in NCS against MV (golden goal in 100th minute +) than SRV’s loss (goal in 78th minute). Santa Rosa could make a good argument that they gave Monte Vista a better game than SRV.
