Wiedeman named pre-season All American

Andrew Wiedeman, a 2007 graduate of California High School and current standout on the UC Berkeley men’s soccer team, was named a pre-season All American by the magazine Soccer America.
In his sophomore season, Wiedeman was voted by NCAA coaches as an All American after scoring 29 points, which included 12 goals, four of them game-winners.
Wiedeman and the Bears are ranked No. 7 in the pre-season poll after going 12-4-5 a season ago and reaching the Sweet Sixteen of the College Cup.
The Bears start the year on the road against Georgetown on Sep. 4.

De La Salle soccer named team of the year

As if going 23-1, winning the North Coast Section’s 3A title and being one of the top ranked teams in the United States wasn’t enough.

Soccer: Maratsos won’t return to Campolindo; State playoffs

Campolindo head boys soccer coach Jason Maratsos has informed me via email that he will not be back as head coach of the Cougars next season.

Deer Valley boys soccer disqualified from NCS

This story started gaining some momentum yesterday and today it became official that the Deer Valley boys soccer team was disqualified from the NCS playoffs. Here’s the story that will be in tomorrow’s paper.

Post-Seeding Meeting East Bay Boys Soccer Notebook
