Softball: Final national/state rankings

A great year for softball in the East Bay ends with James Logan and Amador Valley both ranked in the top five of the ESPN Powerade Fab 50 poll. Logan is ranked No. 4 nationally, just ahead of No. 5 Amador Valley. Logan beat Amador Valley 1-0 on June 1 for the North Coast Section Division I championship.

The Colts and Dons were also highly ranked in the final Cal-Hi Sports state rankings, coming in at No. 2 and 3 respectively.

Catch softball star Arioto at Falcon Fest

Softball fans are invited to Foothill High on Friday evening for a meet and greet with alum Val Arioto. The 2007 Foothill graduate is now an All-American at Cal and helped the U.S. national team win the World Cup in July.

Arioto will be on hand as part of Falcon Fest, a spirit-building event that is open to the entire community and free of charge. She will be at the sports field across from the pool entrance from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
