James Logan High charity run for ill student

The James Logan High School cross country team is hosting a charity run on Saturday for Logan junior Lamonna Drinkard, who was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a condition that occurs when a body stops producing enough new blood cells.
Drinkard, who was a sprinter for the Logan girls track team the past two years, was recently released from a hospital and will need to stay out of school until next semester, said her mother Monica Bennett.
All proceeds from the charity run will be donated toward Drinkard’s hospital expenses. The charity run is being held, along with the Ghebray Invitational for high school teams, on Oct. 4 at Quarry Lakes Regional Park in Fremont. The cost for the charity run is $15 per individual.
