I for one am glad Fargas is here!!!

  2. Dakota Says:

    DAMN! NO MCFADDEN!

  3. Dakota Says:

    PICK ELLIS!

  4. Fender52 Says:

That says a lot to me. Almost might look like a functioning organization! ;)

  5. Oakglenn Says:

They could still pick McFadden, I’d be a little shocked if they did, but conceivably, Ellis, Dorsey and Chris Long could go 1,2,3. ughhghghgh. that just gave me chills.

  6. Fender52 Says:

sorry, did n’t know that would turn into stupid smiley face.

  7. Dakota Says:

We better win that coin flip boys. Roger, we will sick Congress on you if we lose the flip with ATL!

  8. Oakglenn Says:

Fender don’t kid yourself. This is a functioning organization, it’s just so many things have gone soooo wrong, stuff you just wouldn’t believe. Rob Gallery can’t play. Randy Moss won’t play. Eric Turner dies. Unbelievable stuff. Somehow I think we’ve turned the corner, tho.

  9. Dakota Says:

Sorry Unknown/Jeremy/KK, I just set aside 19k for taxes. You do the math welfare baby.

  10. Oakglenn Says:

    High five Dakota!!!

  11. Dakota Says:

    You know it Oakglenn.

  12. Oakglenn Says:

Now where’s the village idiot troll???? He’s next.

  13. Unknown Says:

    I won again!!

I need new comp. The girls quit! Maybe I shouldnt pick on chicks anymore. hmmmm . lol lol lol lol

  14. tom flores Says:

he is a great insurance policy if Bush does not meet expectations ..besides Fargas is one of the guys on this team that has guts and a big heart !!!

    btw…oakglenn

you were right about the WR we picked up today too…turns out he was John Becks top WR at BYU…at 6′3″ and 220 he looks like a real solid young guy…over 1000 yards in 04 dropped off in 05 due to th emergence of a few other receivers and Curtis Brown their RB

I think this looks like a good first move by Lofton to get some young enthisiastic talent in here to compete for some playing time in a spot on the roster where we are not so deep…as we were led to believe a year ago.

It looks like I will have to keep my season tickets this year after all….

  15. Oakglenn Says:

sorry mods. It does get messy around here sometimes.

  16. Dakota Says:

    Oakglenn,

Unknown/Jeremy/KK reminds me of Saddam declaring victory after the first Persian Gulf war, LOL. He got wacked and still declares victory, LOL, how pathetic.

  17. Noshadowking Says:

I think this was a good move on our part

  18. Mistabrown Says:

Well I hope BUSH is 110% healthy and ready to play tackle football.

Maybe DR is trade bait now ?

  19. Oakglenn Says:

Look at you Flores. Exactly. Nice size and speed, needs to learn how to hold on to the ball, but again, we have a Hall of Famer to teach him, and hopefully a malcontent #84 to go away and NOT teach him.

  20. Unknown Says:

da-ho-ta is panting everyone! Look at her

    Victory is I

  21. tom flores Says:

    Mistabrown

Bush could be as good if not better than Adrian Petersen…that was the talk a coupl eyears ago before he got injured. he has gotta be 110 % now…he was ready to go last year ….

  22. Mistabrown Says:

Oakglenn, wasnt it you that said ignore these trolls and they will go away ? Why dont you practice what you preach as far as I can tell they only come in here to get a rise out of you.

  23. Oakglenn Says:

Mista in all honesty, and dude, believe me I’ve been dealing with this for months. Sometimes you ignore them, they go away. Sometimes you humiliate them, they go away. So I try both. As long as they go away, which they do, it’s all good.
The issue is more how insidious some of these idiots are trying to demoralize the Nation. That’s MaddenRaider. He comes on as a fan, but he’s not. He’s a troll. Others many months ago pointed that out, personally I ignore him, but he’s found me as a target, and with a little investigation, HE’S A TROLL!!

  24. RAIDERTILLETERNITY Says:

now to trade wit the cowgirls for their 2 first rounders and a 3rd rounder would b nice….. we kan get deshaun jackson, kenny phillips, and in the 2nr round take pat sims and in the 3rd get that linebacker from LSU ….

  25. tom flores Says:

    Is this for real…Oakglenn ?

I hate getting my hopes up AGAIN. The fact that something positive is happening in the organization right now is so refreshing…

Hate to say it but hahaha I voted for Obama and I still believe in Hope and Change…two very powerful words and concepts…

Kiffin gave me that for the first time since Gruden…left and although it was a high risk pick I was hoping along with many other Die Hards that Jamarcus Russell would be Big Als pick last year…

Even though he would warm the bench and not play there was that hope again for 2008 and 09 and beyond….

  26. Krowlz Says:

I loved what Fargas did last year and how freakin tuff he was but I personally would rather have DR over him.

  27. Unknown Says:

    Mista

da-ho-ta is a cooter watcher. That thing wants Al Davis as its next project.

    Watch her

And yeah that other Welfare Queen I dont acknowledge anymore when I found she is unemployed. lol Mista

  28. Dakota Says:

    I miss McFadden already.

  29. Mr raider Says:

iTS LIKE HE WAS NEVER HERE

  30. Mr raider Says:

    F-in cap lock lol

  31. Dakota Says:

Thanks a lot Mr. Raider, kick me while I am down. McFadden, I wish you luck with the Jets or Cowgirls. Have fun collecting the rookie of the year award.

  32. Once upon a time in the west Says:

McFadden will look good with that star on his silver helmet.
Our compensation for the high pick will look much better in our silver helmets

  33. Mr raider Says:

Oak notice how Jeremy and unknown always post wihin minutes of each other just long enough to switch screen names

  34. patrick Says:

    Glad we got Fargas covered.

  35. raiderwill1980 Says:

    defense it is

  36. holla Says:

    Thank god. No McFadden

  37. Dakota Says:

I know this is good news for the Raiders, but it might take me a while to get over this day. I sure hope Bush can help in the red zone because Fargas only contributes between the 20s.

  38. Mr raider Says:

Ellis or Dorsey I’m hoping for Ellis seems better suited for both the 3-4 or the 4-3.

  39. Oakglenn Says:

You guys I think there’s gonna be a lot of positives over the next couple of years. Barring an unforseen player coming out of nowhere, (See Antonio Gates, San Diego) we’re probably two drafts out.

There is gonna be sooooo much turnover on our roster in the next three years. One thing that is interesting is Sapp hasn’t filed his paper work yet. The only indication he’s outta here is his website. It’s actually hilarious. He could be back. I like resigning Fargas. I think that’s an excellent move on all sides.

Here I’ll give you guys a couple of guys: Chris Horton and Dennis Keyes the Safeties from UCLA will probably go undrafted. I really like Travis Brown the WR from New Mexico. The other WR from New Mexico Marcus Smith is good too, but I like Brown better. These are the guys we need. Especially with a Dorsey, Highsmith, Laws, Bowman, or Sam Baker coming in the first two rounds.

  40. Unknown Says:

    Mista

    fanning=Ms. Cooter cant ignore this

  41. Mr raider Says:

Any Bio’s on the 2 WR we got today?

  42. Jeremy Says:

Unknown that was a great one for all ages. But please leave them alone, we dont want the mods after us when they snitch since they always include my name

  43. Mr raider Says:

Dony want them to be cheerleaders i want them to be football players. Go away

  44. Dakota Says:

I hope we just signed him to a one year contract. He only performed in his contract year…

  45. Oakglenn Says:

Drisan James we’ve had since the beginning of the year. Out of Boise State which is a good program. Interesting guy. Small guy 5′10″ 185, smaller posession type guy.

Todd Watkins is kind of interesting. JC transfer, 6′2″ 200, supposedly a 4.3 forty guy, all MWC as a junior, John Beck the 2nd round QB taken last year by Miami was his QB. Basically he came in as a senior and was doubled and tripled, so his production fell off. Has problems holding onto the ball.
Hopefully Lofton can work with these guys.

  46. Mr raider Says:

Ok college players with no nfl experience and not likely to be drafted. just curious. worth a look though

  47. Unknown Says:

    Ms. raider babysits

  48. Blackholepriest Says:

This was the obvious move to make. He’s proven and knows the system. Kiffin made his first real smart move IMO. Now we’ve got our #1 and #2 runner in place and you go from there. I like Dom but if this kid Chris Johnson falls to late second rnd we have to move on him. He can also double as a WR because he played WR two years in college, he also plays ST’s. But there is a MLB that I would love to get.

If there is anyone that thinks we wont be affective in FA just wait and watch. It’s a lock that we’ll get what we want and need. So we’ll see. MONEY talks the rest can take a hike. Once they take a visit and see for themselves it’s a wrap.

  49. Oakglenn Says:

Watkins was taken, we claimed him off waivers from Atlanta. He actually was drafted by Arizona last year. Right now I’m not ruling anyone out.

  50. tom flores Says:

    Oakglenn

that answers my question on another thread about James…thanks…my next question is about NFL Europe…and how we load our rosters to put pratice squad types in our farm system there….

you dont think thats the deal with these WR signings do you ? I agree that any young talent is gonna be hungry and having a GOAT as there coach should attract a number of young FA’a to our team regardless of whats happenin gin the front office. Any good young players wants to learn to get better…Lofton certainly helps us there. I must say that Kiffin is probably going to attract some of this years guys coming out as he probably courted them for USC when they were signing letters of intent for their colleges…???

  51. Mr raider Says:

Im not either i just didnt know anything about him. Thanks for the info. Got to go change the babies diapers Unknow & Jeremy will take them off and eat the corn out of their stool if im not quick enough Mrs Raider

  52. Blackholepriest Says:

Todd Watkins has a ton of POTENTIAL but he’s never lived up to it. He is as talented as they come but from what I can tell just has never put it all together, He has great size and can flat out fly. There used to be a guy that he reminds me of his name was Webster Slaughter a WR with the Ceveland Browns when Bernie Kosar was there. He has a real chance if he puts in the work.

  53. Mr raider Says:

it sounds like he can strech the field thats good im still in

  54. stretch Says:

SWEET!!!Now we can draft Defense, and trade LJ for another pick

  55. Oakglenn Says:

Flores I have to be honest, there’s been a lot of upheaval in the NFL Europe program so I don’t know who assigns who to what ove there.
You bring up a really good point, in that there’s gonna be guys at SC that are going to be overlooked. Every scout and personnel guy in the league is gonna figure SC to be picked over. If someone falls thru the cracks hopefully Kiff will know it.

  56. tom flores Says:

    Blackholepriest

these guys are both kids..fresh outta school. Hopefully no bad habits that can’t be coached or beaten out…hahaha…

I agree give them a year and a great teacher (Lofton) and someone who loves to heave the ball down the field (JRuss) and a team (Raiders) that would love to get back to that infamous vertical game …I could get real happy growing old watching these guys make the play-offs together year after year !!!

  57. Mr raider Says:

There also must be some good arena football recievers all they do is pass.

  58. tom flores Says:

Oakglenn I am not just saying that Kiffin has USC players…to fall back on…what about the big fish that got away from his program there…he had to meet some young budding superstars that couldn’t make the grades and had to go to smaller schools instead…thats where I think Kiffin has the inside track…even kids that were talented…went to JC’s but never could break into a decent school because of their grades…who knows…

  59. JRaider1 Says:

Nice move! Reward the guy that has put in the work for a few years before it paid off last year. Thats why I like Kiffin, everyone gets a shot to show what they can do. You dont produce, you dont stick around. You do produce, you get re-signed.
It it sounds so basic but we have seen a lot of the opposite over the last 5 years.
    No scholarships.

  60. tom flores Says:

    Stretch

I agree on LJ…but what kind of pick do you think we can get for an underachiever like him ???

We paid him way too much money…what the hell was Al thinking then ???

  61. tom flores Says:

    MrRaider

was that a joke??? Arena football players are usually a bit smallish do you think they could hold up to a hit from a beast like Ed Reed ???

  62. Dakota Says:

Tom, we all liked the LJ signing when it went down, He averaged something like 5 yards per carry in NY. Everyone said we did the right thing by signing LJ, he just turned out to be a backup. Even I don’t blame Al for that one.

  63. Florida Pete Says:

    NFL Europe is done…

    over …

    kaput…

    finis…

    mas muerto…

  64. Mr raider Says:

Yes and not to many nfl recievers can either

  65. DSM Raider Says:

I just hope and pray we don’t take Jake Long!!!

  66. tom flores Says:

ok…well this is the problem..everyone is panting for Michael Turner now…he is a also a great back up…but the question is going to be the same…deal…can he be a featured back that can carry it 25 times a game…

I agree that LJ was a really good back up with the jets…but AL paid him a whopping signing bonus and salary…I have to go back and check the numbers again because I have forgotten now…but I remember it shocking me at the time…

I was one of those guys that said yes to LJ…til I saw the bill hahaha !!!

  67. Dakota Says:

    DSM,

Would you take Jake Long if C. Long, Ellis and Dorsey were all off the board?

  68. Dakota Says:

LJ did get a HUGE contract. $27.5 mill including a $7 mill signing bonus…he should be arrested for grand theft.

  69. tom flores Says:

Whats going to happen without our farm system now if NFL Europe is Kaput ??? Some players need that extra few years to mature and hone their skills before turning pro…and I really dont think that the NCAA is that place …I have heard plenty of arguments that it is the “farm system”…

Maybe they all end up in the CFL and we go hunting there…one thing is certain they will all be weatherproof !!! hahaha

  70. DSM Raider Says:

No, he doesn’t have the footwork to handle the outside speed pash rushers. In the Big Ten he played against one player last season who will be in the NFL next year and was beaten for a sack. Not a big deal that he was beat for the sack, but he hasn’t played against anyone. He did play against USC in the Rose Bowl and certaintly didn’t look like a future Pro Bowl LT.

He’ll be a RT in the NFL.

  71. Raider Raul Says:

Now we need to hear news of Nnamdi signing a contract!!

Hey, waddayaknow, we’re going to have some continuity this upcoming season! Same blocking scheme, same running backs familiar with the scheme, JaMarcus gaining command of the offense…this is all starting to come together.
    SORRY DAKOTA!!!

  72. Dakota Says:

Thanks Raider Raul. Hey, some of you guys think McFadden really sucks, so maybe we can grab him in the 5th round? LOL.

  73. tom flores Says:

that was alot of money for a back up when we could have had a set of fresh legs instead…he is going to be 30 this year !!! No matter what I wouldnt cry if we traded him and picked up another young RB in later rounds not like we will need one this year we are stacked there

  74. Dakota Says:

Devean George just blocked the Kidd to Dallas trade! LOL. He exercised his no-trade! I thought only Kobe had that contract provision! Funny stuff. He better pack his bags, cuz the fans are going to kill him.

  75. kk Says:

    same 4-12 season

  76. tom flores Says:

    Dakota

McFadden is awesome…but we just dont need him like we need a DT to stop the run…we were an embarrassment ranked number 30 or 31 last year vs the run…ouch. Its a huge priority to get our defense on track this year…we already have Justin Fargas, Rhodes and Bush as well as Adimchinobe Echemandu being back with us…plus our fullbacks…christ…how many do we need ???

  77. Dakota Says:

Settle down Tom, I was joking about getting McFadden in the 5th round, lol.

  78. kk Says:

    Draft Ellis

  79. 4eyedraider Says:

Im very happy to know that Fargas will be back, maybe with the new stregnthening coach he can get strong enough to stay healthy. Fargas is not Mcfadden, but he can get through the holes also, and he’s got the experience. I know if you want to start your going to have to beat out Fargas and that means you got to go balls out. Fargas and bush were going to kill’em. go raiders.

  80. Oakglenn Says:

I like the priest scouting report on Todd Watkins. Pretty much right on. The good news is we haven’t spent a second rounder on the guy.
DSM I like Jake Long a lot. I don’t know if I would spend an overall #3 on him, but certainly 4-10 I would.

Hey Kurt Warner came from the arena league and he was a league MVP and Super Bowl Champ so….

  81. saintkaufman Says:

    Thanks for the update Jerry.
Finally something to fill the fix.

  82. tom flores Says:

I would still rather trade down and pick up some booty in the 2nd round and walk away with a mid first round steal at LB or SS and go DT and OT, WR in the second…

those are real needs…not DMac…I was on that band wagon for a while…but…the reality is we need to become a defensive team while JRuss matures…give him a year under center and then we cna load up on offensive firepower in rounds 1 and 2 next year !!!

If this happens I truly believe we will compete in the play-offs in 2009…and actually win a game or two…

  83. Unknown Says:

    KK is near

  84. mr raider Says:

Now lets sign some defensive players and draft Ellis or dorsey which everone is available at 3. tails never fails

  85. 4eyedraider Says:

if bush dont work out we still got echemundo, and hopefully rhodes

  86. Oakglenn Says:

Fellas you all know this. The first thing you have to do in football at every level, first thing, very first thing, is stop the run. If you can’t stop the run, you’re in for a very very long day. The second thing is you have to run. Kiff did a good job at establishing a running game here in Oakland. I can guarantee you guys they are gonna work on stopping the run. If they can do that, they have the ability to be a very good team, especially if they could add a couple of playmakers.

  87. tom flores Says:

    Dakota

sorry I guess I am obsessing over this because I just want have that fuzzy feeling you walk out of stadium with… when you know we are either tied for the division lead or actually in sole possession…

its been a while…even though we had that scenario 4 weeks into th eseason at .500 last year…sadly it did not hold…I just want to see us field a mean dominant defesive team again…

  88. Dakota Says:

No problemo Tommy. I am excited too. I just really hope Bush can do some work next season once we get into the red zone, because Fargas simply can’t finish a drive. Hopefully the Raiders know Bush will be ready next season.

  89. bishop916 Says:

Fargas runs hard and brings it every play.
Gawd what a relief over frikkin LJordan. What a dissapointment that clown was. Most enduring memory of LJ: him crouching on the sidelines trying to chew thru a rolled up towel for fumbling on the 2 yd line. Way to go LJ. LOL

  90. tom flores Says:

    Oakglenn

you are right…this recent news about Fargas is a real shot in the arm though..it says that however things may seem from the outside world…they are working them out on the inside and moving forward…thats really the bottom line…

like you said we just need to pick up a few playmakers and we are gonna be in the thick of it this year…the ZBS worked awesome and its only gonna get better this year…now we just gotta bulldoze our opponets O-lines with some young D-line mix of Draft picks and FA’s

  91. JB Says:

The real question in picks is if BOTH Dorsey & Ellis were available at #3 pick (we won the flip in my scenario), which would/should we take? It looks as though Miami may go for a QB. The Rams will probably go for Chris Long or the best OLT available leaving us a BIG choice. My sense is that Ellis has more upside than Dorsey. Ellis can play the 3-4 or the 4-3. Dorsey is a 4-3 only player. So what’s your pick.

For me it’s Ellis for our 1st pick. The second pick - thought you’d never ask. How about Laws, DT Notre Dame. Then I’d go really crazy and trade Burgess to Cinn. for the rights to Chad Johnson. Our D-Line would then be Richardson, Ellis, Laws, Kelley. The backups would be Clemons, Warren, Sands, and a soon to be announced DE. Pick up a FA LB & SS and we should be good to go.

  92. tom flores Says:

does anyone know where to find a good video of Bush pounding the rock ??

I am jonesin’ to see him in action again…I remember myock had great things to say about him last year when we picked him…comparing him to Gore in SF…due mostly I think to the similar situations in which they found themselves on draft day.

I thought back then that we stole him as a day two pick even though I knew he wouldn’t play a down in 07…

its kind of hard starting a year with two picks unable to play and a third just a complete butthead 3rd rounder that you have to cut !!!

If you think about it…Kiffin didnt even have a full hand to play this year…imagine what he could get done this year with everybody reporting on time to camp…a few decent “playmaker” FA signings…and a decent O-line to work with and improve…

  93. Oakglenn Says:

JB, I gotta say Ellis and Dorsey are both incredible prospects and frankly I would love to have either one. With Dorsey, you have the leader of the National Champion defense. With Ellis you have someone rising up EVERYONES draft board, who got the votes from the opposing linemen as the player of the year in the Pac 10. We’ve all discussed Trevor Laws here. We really like him. I wouldn’t trade Derrick Burgess tho. I think we can get some WR help cheap. Maybe Jabbar Gaffney and Jordy Nelson from Kansas, maybe Bryant Johnson and DJ Hall from University of Alabama.

  94. jh Says:

How important is run defense ?

    Raiders Run Defense
    2003 #3 in the NFL
    1983 #4 ,,,,,,,,,,
    1980 #5 ,,,,,,,,,,
    1976 #10 ,,,,,,,,,,

There was nothing on nfl.com for 1968….most here know what each of these years mean….so it is a big deal…The team has to fix the D line !!

  95. Bob Marley Says:

Justin Fargas signed for 3 years and 12 million, 6 million are guranteed.

  96. Oakglenn Says:

Tom, this kid Mike Bush is very special. You should hear what the people from his home town of Louisville say about him. They talk about the “greatest game ever” the Kentucky state high school championship with Brian Brohm QBing one team and Mike Bush QBing the other. Brohm wins the game like 51-50, but Mike Bush was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. He then goes to University of Louisville, and does NOTHING TO DISAPPOINT ANYONE!!! 6′1″, 245, tough, athletic, very smart kid, unbelievably competitive, wanted to QB at Louisville but changed to RB, showed what an unselfish team guy he is. I can go on and on about this kid. Very special kid. We’re very happy to have him here. The rumour was if the Raiders don’t rush him back, they’ve got a great player. Thank God they didn’t need him back early.

  97. Bob Marley Says:

    Guaranteed.

  98. Kirk Says:

I was hoping they wouldn’t sign Fargas. He is an incomplete player, he can’t catch the football. He will be prone to injury because of the way he runs. I think this is a mistake.

  99. Florida Pete Says:

al davis has always treated producers and team players very well…

Gannon got his big paycheck after getting us to the super bowl…

  100. tom flores Says:

    JB

the real answer is neither !!!

the answer is trade down to number 10 and pick up 2 secound rounders along the way down. We can grab Keith Rivers LB as a run stuffer or even Kenny Philipps SS then we can still pick up DT Frank Okam from Texas and Trevor Laws DT if you insist !!! Now thats a defensive draft anyone could be proud of and we still have our own high 2 nd rounder to spend on a WR or OT…

  101. Terrapin Says:

    Very important stats there JH.

Man this RB situation is very intriguing. JFargas, LJordan, DRhodes, MBush, AE. Thats a very deep bench. Of course LJ is outta here and I’ll be very curious to see what happens to DR. If MBush shows himself to be a big time stud there’s no way you can keep him on the pine. DR is a great guy I’m sure but I just can’t see him going through another season with very few carries.

  102. DSM Raider Says:

Okam is another Turd Sands so I want nothing to do with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if we pick up in the 4th or later his “high energy” linemate Derek Lokey who makes plays based of his motor.

I would love to see us trade down and acquire more picks. My hope is DT Pat Sims is available in the second.

  103. Bob Marley Says:

    Let´s bring this guy back….

”Free agent QB Josh Booty was reportedly arrested early Wednesday on DUI charges. He had to be tased in jail, fell, and needed his head stitched up.”

    usatoday.com

    LOL.

  104. tom flores Says:

    Oakglenn

I am totally on the Bush page with you man…I have heard crazy stories from friends about how amazing he is..all I saw was a few clips and a beaming Mike Mayock talking him up…and then all the commentators on draft day saying what a steal he was at number 100 and how they were shocked he slid down there…even with a broken leg…

I seriously cant wait to see him behind the ZBS that they had in ATL when Warrick Dunn and Vick broke rushing records…I mean this kid seems made for this offense…thats why I thought it was weird that all the draft gurus have been talking DMac to Raiders at number 3 overall…it would be an awesome one two punch for many years to come…BUT…there are so many other really pressing needs…you know?

I think in 07 we will be looking alot like Minnesota Vikings were this year with a great tandem of RBs and a young talented QB scrambling around trying to make plays…along with and here is the biggest key…a dominant run stuffing defense!!!

  105. island pirate Says:

Huggy gonna tuggy da ball. Mucho grande.

  106. Bob Marley Says:

    DSM

Nice call on Lokey, that guys is gonna play in this Leage for several years.

The Fargas contract numbers are according to Schefter.

  107. Oakglenn Says:

The thing Tom about Mike Bush that no one really sees coming is this guy is a bona fide QB. And I mean a good QB. Kiffin has to be like a crazy wild mad scientist staying up all nite figuring out how to run counter sweeps and then have this guy Bush pull up and heave it around the yard. Just imagine what that would do to a defensive cooridnator! What would you do to defense that???

  108. Terrapin Says:

Flores - I typed this before as a new thread was being put up so you may have missed it: Kenny Phillips is a FS not a SS. If Huff is to move to FS then drafting Phillips makes no sense.

I’m not very big on drafting Laws in the 2nd if Ellis or Dorsey is drafted in the 1st. That combo is a little too small for my comfort level. They all may be best suited for Sapp’s old spot so drafting the same spot doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

If I were forced to chose b/t Ellis and Dorsey, as of right now I’ll go with Ellis. If I were forced to.

  109. Oakglenn Says:

The unfortunate thing for Minnesota is Tavaris Jackson hasn’t developed the way they thought he would. I thought he was going to be a good player, but he regressed. Severely.

  110. Oakglenn Says:

DSM, you kinda know your stuff huh? All you guys are very impressive. You guys really know your stuff. I’m always amazed everytime I come here.

  111. Oakglenn Says:

Say Marley Esquire, I don’t know if you saw my post earlier but our friend is clearly a troll. No doubt.

  112. Terrapin Says:

Now drafting Ellis/Dorsey in the 1st and following that up with a Dre Moore, Red Bryant, Pat Sims et al in the 2nd makes a lot more sense.

  113. La Milicia Negra Says:

–”Raiders re-signed RB Justin Fargas. NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports the deal is for three years and $12 million, including $6 million guaranteed.
Fargas, 28, gained 1009 yards on 222 carries (4.5 YPC) and scored four TDs in 2007. He’s not a threat in the passing game and often runs too hard for his own good, but fits Oakland’s zone system. Fargas now enters 2008 as the heavy favorite to start over Michael Bush. The best Bush could hope for is a carry split, which he’d have to earn with a big training camp and preseason.
    Feb. 13 - 8:49 p.m. ET”–

    Man this sux!

at best it means we payed 6mio for a trade bait…Why did we do this?? I simply cant understand. Does it mean we gave 6mio so we could trade him for a 2nd or 3rd pick, then it’s okay, but i doubt it. Man this was a lousy move!

  114. Terrapin Says:

BTW: McFadden is old news (never been news for me) but if you want more insight into Mayocks thinking on McFadden its avaiable on nfl.com/draft vid on rbs.

  115. tom flores Says:

    terrapin

actually everything I have seen or read on Kenny Phillipps has said he played both FS and SS at Miami…siad to have Ed Reed like skills and was moved to SS as he gained weight and strength…so he is alot like Huff…whats wrong with having two great safeties playing for us and being able to switch back and forth…thats gotta screw with any DC or QB…

he is also a great run stuffer…anyway you look at it he is a huge upgrade over STU….

  116. La Milicia Negra Says:

home and right to bed! see ya guys!

  117. tom flores Says:

    Oakglenn

Bush is already sounding more and more like the guy we have been lookin gto add to this roster for nearly a decade…I hope we can do some things in th edraft this year with our D Line to bring some young mean talent there…I agree Jackson did not pan out this year in Minnesota but he is still young…and they could also use some playmaking talent at WR to throw to like us…remember we dumped their number one receiver from two years after he signed as an FA with us… and didnt work out…

  118. joshy Says:

signing fargas is great!! MCfadden is so overrated. nfl network doesn’t even have him in the top 20 players in the draft.

  119. RaiderDogg Says:

Nice job by the organization in re-signing Fargas. Excellent decision, one less thing to worry about. This makes the draft a bit clearer.

    In NBA news:

Jason Kidd trade nullified by ex Laker Deavan George who chose to exercise his “no trade clause”.

Just thought some of you might like to know.

Also I just finished watching the Warriors beat the Shaq-less Suns for the second time this season.

  128. Unknown Says:

    Raidermutt

I see you’ve been busy trying to resurrect your failing marriage to a sheman. hahahahahah

  129. jjvill Says:

Thanks for the Fargas contract terms Marley.

I have to say I love the resigning of Fargas especially for the type of money the Raiders spent. JF got a solid contract and the Raiders didn’t break the bank…good news for the Nation. This guy will contribute no matter what his role on the team, yes he has some weaknesses but if Rhodes contributes (along with Bush, possibly) I’m not going to be to worried about the Raider’s running attack in 2008.

At the end of the season I had no problem if the S&B picked McFadden..but now I hear too many doubts about his abilities (Mayock is one). If he was AP or LT, take him…but it doesn’t seem there is a consensus on him. Three potential dominant dline man to choose from…hopefully the right one falls to the Raiders.

  130. Oakglenn Says:

    Leave mutt the hell alone!!

  131. Oakglenn Says:

I meant to say dogg! Sorry

  132. RaiderDogg Says:

  133. Jeremy Says:

  134. Oakglenn Says:

Just take them on Dogg! They tried the same thing on me earlier. I battled them until they went away.

  135. Listen Up Says:

Bye-bye McFadden (who we didn’t need)… Hello DL help (which we do need)… Let Dorsey drop to Da Raiders:
    1. DAL (via trade w/Fins) = McFadden
    2. Rams = Chris Long (need OL)
    3. ATL = Matt Ryan (need QB)
    4. Oaktown = Dorsey

  136. Unknown Says:

poakglenn poakglenn poakglenn uh oh, i just crapped myself again. must be something I ate, faaart

  137. Chris Says:

I would tell anybody that wants Darren McFadden on the Raiders to go to NFL.com and watch their breakdown of the running backs. McFadden is too small down low and doesn’t break through tackles. If he can’t take it outside then he is done for. I like the resigning of Fargas, I think he and Bush will make for a good duo. We have plenty of money to spend and we didn’t break the bank on his contract.

  138. Golden State Says:

Nice!!! JFar is one hard runner. Next is Burgess.
    2008 I am ready.

  139. Bob Marley Says:

    Man, can you believe espn?….

Specter says Goodell told him the Pats had been taping since 2000, I checked a few other sites and it´s on their headlines, Clemens is still the biggest story everywhere but Specter-Goodell still garners the sidebar headline and of course tops the NFL section.

But on espn it´s not only not in their main page at all, you have to go to their NFL section where you will find some comparatively useless article about FA and a ”Goodell does not regret destrying tapes” article heading their news side bar.

You have to go to an article entitled ”Specter wants NFL indemnity for witness” and there, at the bottom of the article you will find the same story grabbing headlines on every other site.

    Jeez…grow some backbone people.

Sorry to rant, maybe you guys don´t care anymore but I find these kind of media behavior despicable.

  140. Bob Marley Says:

Oakglenn…yeah, I saw it, don´t worry about it.

  141. Dakota Says:

    Bob,

If it makes you feel better, Cowherd talked about the commissioner meeting with Specter quite a bit this morning on espn radio. He thought it was a brilliant move by the commissioner to meet on the same day as the Clemens hearing to deflect most of the spotlight away from the nfl’s problems, lol. You gotta give it to Roger, he knows what he is doing.

  142. Oakglenn Says:

gotta love posting a ton of times without being here.

  143. Oakglenn Says:

man, those clowns must love getting humiliated

  144. Dakota Says:

Gotta love those Lakers…7-2 on a nine game road trip. The entire Western Conference pi$$ing in their pants LOL.

I can’t wait until I can say the same about the Raiders and the AFC.

I saw a glint of fear in Shanahan’s eyes last year in both Raider games…here’s hoping Al doesn’t F it up. Shanahan saw Kiffin’s ability to adjust and coach up the team. Just wait until we get some players for him to work with. Shannyfart will retire on the spot.

  145. Oakglenn Says:

I don’t know Dakota, Warriors have won 5 of 6 after beating the phonytown scums.

  146. RaiderDogg Says:

    Oakglenn -

I knew that wasn’t you earlier, in case you didn’t notice.

Bring back the psa’s by the way.

    Dakota -

What is the Lakers record versus the Suns this season? I honestly don’t know.

  147. Dakota Says:

    2-1

  148. Dakota Says:

    2-1 Lakers over Suns.

  149. Jeremy Says:

Justin Fargas didnt even test the market because he knows he wasn’t worth much. He was a 3 month wonder out of 4 years. Now its back to the praying game hoping Bush is who he was 2 yrs ago. If we dont do something in free agency its another year of mis- managing, coach firing, conspiracy theories, and wait till next year.

  150. Dakota Says:

I would like to thank the Warriors for helping the Lakers tonight by beating the Suns, and for the inability to defeat the Lakers more than once in every fifteen games or so, LOL.

  151. RaiderDogg Says:

The Warriors don’t seem to have a problem with beating the Suns, I think that they are 2-0 against them this year. The W’s can run with anybody.

Shaq was on the sidelines looking like someone just farted.

  152. Bo Jackson's Hip Says:

    RRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  153. Dakota Says:

    sorry…”for their (Warrior’s) inability”

  154. Jeremy Says:

golden stale is going nowhere fast. When have they ever won anything with a Loyola Marymont style. If yall are after good entertainment then “hav plenty” because thats all they are

  155. lefty 12 Says:

please take the NBA talk to an NBA blog.please.

  156. Bo Jackson's Hip Says:

Man I love that at the games…when the Nation is chanting “Raiders” at the top of their lungs! I love our team and it’s fans….even in it’s current state, we have such a loyal fan base.

Now, let’s get back to winning!!!

  157. RaiderDogg Says:

    Dakota -

here’s hoping that the Warriors and the Lakers meet in the playoffs. I know that the Lakers won’t beat the Warriors in Oakland and the Warriors can steal 1 in LA if need be.

  158. Dakota Says:

    Quiet down short-bus boy.

  159. RaiderDogg Says:

    sorry Lefty, I’m done

  160. Bob Marley Says:

    On Fargas…..

I definitely think it´s a good move, this guy works hard and will do everything in his power to produce, no lack of effort there, no stealing money. And you have got to like what you saw of him last year.

That´s money well invested, even if he breaks down, so be it, this sets the right example for our young guys… work hard, don´t quit and you will get rewarded.

  161. Dakota Says:

We shall see Dogg, we shall see.

  162. Dakota Says:

Chill Lefty, we are all sports fans here, a little NBA talk with fellow Raider fans never hurt anyone.

  163. lefty 12 Says:

Oak-i have to ask about an earlier post of yours concerning FA.when you said FA would sign here, one of the reasons you stated was our great fans.don’t you think players say how we treated our starting QB and our starting SS last year?at the Houston game SS intercepted a pass and was still booed.and we all know how JM was treated.

  164. Bob Marley Says:

    Dakota

I seriously could not believe it this morning, that Specter was dumb enough to fall for that is..uhm well, unbelievable.

  165. RaiderDogg Says:

    Dakota -

you know it’s really just nice to be able to say things like that about the W’s and actually mean them.

Now it’s up to the Raiders to make that climb back to a “playoff caliber” team. Signing Fargas is a step in the right direction.

  166. Dakota Says:

    Bob,

I know it, and these guys are our lawmakers…scary isn’t it?

  167. Jeremy Says:

  184. unknown Says:

    I bet she’s in heat

  185. Dakota Says:

    Lefty,

I know, sorry man, I am just excited about the NBA right now and, frankly, most NBA fans are complete morons. Have you ever visited an NBA blog? Illiterate blabber mouths, much like Jeremy/Unknown/KK. NFL fans are, on average, far more intelligent than NBA fans for some reason, and I would prefer to talk with Mista and RaiderDogg about the night’s NBA action than go on one of those idiotic NBA blogs…sorry, I will try and keep it to a minimum…but no promises.

  186. Jeremy Says:

Mr.Mosh Pit Nobody wants none. You have ran the trolling tricks outta here! Now its peaceful.

You should Mosh it up more.

  190. lefty 12 Says:

  191. Jeremy Says:

I dont address trolling tricks any longer

    Girls love attention

  192. Dakota Says:

Nice, who is your team? Cubs fan myself…what was I thinking when I was 8 to pick the Cubs and Raiders? lol.

  193. Mosh Pit Says:

oh lefty is a baseball guy, I know he wants some!

  194. DesertRaider24 Says:

The signing of Fargas should put all of the McFadden speculation to rest. Clearly the Raider brass have confidence in the ability of Fargas to carry the load, and they also feel that Bush, Griffith, O’Neal, and Rhodes have the ability to split time with Fargas. Goodbye Lamont; hope the door doesn’t hit you on the way out…

Now we can turn our attention to where it truly needs to be–the D-line, and the drafting of a solid DT…I see either Dorsey or Ellis in the silver and black…can’t really go wrong with either of them…Chris Long is the sentimental pick, but we need a DT, period.

Thanks for putting the Fargas issue to bed, Al. Now if he could just get out of the way, and let his coaches , well, you know, COACH, then maybe he would get closer to his goal of getting 2 more Lombardi trophies before he dies…

  195. unknown Says:

    Jeremy I got your back

    The legacy is well protected

  196. lefty 12 Says:

  200. lefty 12 Says:

hope they have enough time to cover them all.thanks for the tip,but it is BSPN.

  201. DesertRaider24 Says:

Lefty 12–I’m a baseball guy too; I’m not only a huge fan of the game, but I actually play. Not softball, mind you, but baseball–the real deal. I too, am looking forward to spring training; I’ve been to Phoenix Muni Stadium where the A’s play, and it’s a sweet park, with the mountains in the backdrop. Big tip if you want to see the Giants–GO EARLY. They play in downtown Scottsdale, and parking is a SERIOUS beeaatch if you don’t get there early. You might also check out the Padres and Mariners up in Peoria, just north of Phoenix–another nice ballpark, with plenty of shopping and sightseeing around. It’s also just north of Glendale, where the Super Bowl was just played.

  202. lefty 12 Says:

thanks-it’s something i’ve always wanted to do but didn’t have the time.retired last year so now have all the time i want.

  203. Mad Road Dog Says:

Welcome back Huggie! Either the fish or the falcons take Matt Ryan and leave us a big run stopper. Mendenhall is the best runner of the whole group. If J. Long is dumb and attends the combine, we see how he stacks up as a LT. Like BHP’s ideal of Chris Johnson later on though. Clemens, your ego is bigger than ADs. You are to baseball like T-Rex was to the dinasaur world. Big, mean, fast and the most feared but an itty, bitty brain. Good bye Hall of Fame.

  211. Jeremy Says:

What I meant before with Dakota was that he slipped badly in setting the Goodell meeting on the same day of the Clemens-McNamee hearings, that was a major strategical blunder, took most of his thunder away.

For the record…I posted in December during Bowl season that I thought highly of Ellis…being a former USC guy certainly doesn’t hurt…I’m sure Kiff is more than familiar with the kid…still, Dorsey is all-world too…as long as we don’t waste the pick on yet ANOTHER DB, we should be okay…
