Raiders say `hands off’ of Nnamdi
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 at 4:22 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Nnamdi Asomugha will be watching Asante Samuel’s free agent deal closely.
With the Raiders having designated Asomugha as their “exclusive” franchise player Wednesday, the cornerback’s salary will be based on the average of the five highest-paid cornerbacks in 2008, rather than 2007.
Asomugha cannot negotiate with any other team, meaning he can’t come back with an offer sheet the Raiders would be forced to match or lose the cornerback for two first-round draft picks.
News broke regarding two recent first-round picks at cornerback as I was traveling from Oakland to Indianapolis through Houston. The other story concerns Fabian Washington, arrested on a domestic battery charge in Florida.
Washington was arrested Tuesday night and released on bail Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Manatee County Sherriff’s office told Raiders beat writer Steve Corkran Washington would likely face probation because he has no criminal record.
“I observed slight red marks on the victim’s neck,” the arresting officer wrote in the report, spokesman Dave Bristow said. Any overt sign of physical abuse is grounds for arrest, Bristow said.
More deals
The Seahawks franchised cornerback Marcus Trufant, the Packers franchised defensive tackle Corey Williams and Indianapolis signed Dallas Clark to a contract before the franchise deadline.

Jerry do you have any sense if they were close to a deal before they went the franchise route?
February 20th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
First to say First (always wanted to do that)
February 20th, 2008 at 4:30 pm

February 20th, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Sign most valuable defensive player. Check!
February 20th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
the coin toss happens tomorrow
February 20th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
So, Unknown, how did you become a Raider fanatic?
February 20th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Is Justin Tuck going to toss the coin for us? He’s done so much already. Just one more thing Justin.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
hey…just read this and I gotta say in Fabian’s defense…I once had a psycho girlfriend that used to beat my 4 year old son whenever she was angry at me…and I did the same thing dragging her away from him a few years ago.
About a year later the police called me asking to please come and pick up my son because they were arrestin gher for Child abuse…since then I gained sole custody of my son and she is completely out of the picture seeing him only once a year under my supervision.
He is now 7 and a season ticket holder like his father and will be a die hard Raiders Fan for life.
I hope that FW was merely protecting his kid from an abusive mother and that’s all…
February 20th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
nahamdi here 2 stay
February 20th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
this guy wasnt protecting his child he sould of been trying to prtect his image and ultimatly his pocketbook
February 20th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
I am sure that since he Fabian succeeded in his dreams and she probably hasn’t… that she is jealous and bitter…the fact that he is visiting his child tells me he has a good heart…so…it sucks for her that he has money and fame now adn we all know what that brings with it…if he is a “player” …she can either deal with it…or move on…that’s the sad reality…
February 20th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
hey we might trade down this year for more picks. wait news flash Al Davis is still alive no matter what his pace maker reads
February 20th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Holyroller
you are right that his rep and his wallet are gonna get whacked over this…
but she never pressed charges..they were brought by the attending officer which noticed the red marks …the loacl paper reports…
February 20th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
anybody know the status of tommy kelly if he had 2 have surgery or not
February 20th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
A very likely take on the scenario Mr. Flores.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
what about letting Fabian return kicks and punts… he is fast as H!
February 20th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Fabian can’t hit/tackle anyone on the football field but beats up his G/F? I was in an abusive relationship (broken ribs, lacerations, etc) and not once did I hit back. No excuse. They should release this clown…
February 20th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
charges or not the NEW NFL under roger goodell dosent play that it all about character now adays kiffin also comes from character town behind pete carrol didnt play it either
February 20th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Holyroller thanks for the info on coin toss…other than the weighing in and other tests invloved at the combine…any on field drills to be seen on TV tomorrow ???
February 20th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
wow fabian finally had something covered….her throat…no respect for losers that beat women, and these guys are all pumped beyond superhuman, so whats he trying to prove.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Is it so hard to write Nnamdi? It means ‘Christ is with you’. Not such a bad name for a child.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
nice take Jhonny
February 20th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Johnyswing
You need to get another man if endured that torture!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
no on field sessions until saturday
February 20th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
tommy kelly????
February 20th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
In the end the story goes like this… ” Fabian tried to avoid her driving away with their child. Fabian did so because she was obvious drunk and he didn’t believe she could take care of their baby, herself and the car!” =)
February 20th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
For a while I was getting concerned. Besides Dominic Rhodes’ DUI, no major legal issues for a while. So so not the Raider way.
First time post. Long time Raider fan (Art Shell was a rookie my first year) and hoping to see a return to excellence in 08.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
justin smith from cinci might b a good fit in Ryans system
February 20th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
johnyswing…
dude…the report says that he was dragging her away from his child…
are you telling me during your period of spousal abuse you never got the upperhand at all…I mean I am not a hitter of women…but once blood starts flowing…you gotta protect yourself…and usually if its a woman the only resort is to run…or wrap up.(tackle)…something that Fabian has some experience in…hands on rather than “fists” is the only correct way to defend one’s self against a psycho…woman
there was a kid in the room…are you gonna let an angry woman drag your kid around or worse???
February 20th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
DANG!!!
—”Steelers named OT Max Starks their transition player.
Starks, 26, is coming off meniscus surgery, but has proven capable at both tackle spots. With the transition tag, he’ll receive the average of the top ten OTs’ salaries ($6.895 million). The Steelers can match any offer another team makes Starks, but will get no compensation if they decide not to.

Remember to check out the lunar eclipse tonight. It won’t happen again until 2010. Those with telescopes will also be able to see Saturn and its rings flanking one side of the moon. It begins at 5:43 pm Pacific Time.
I’m off for now. Have a good one Nation!

i fought the law and the law won,i fought the law and the won…..
innocent till proven guilty !
February 20th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
LMN I dont agree with grabbing a woman by her throat or condone any spousal violence…
I agree that if Fabian is guilty of any wrong doing he should be cut from the team and suspened by the NFL…period. Even if there is no trial…Raiders should pursue their own investigation into the matter…and make a decision based on any info gleamed from their investigation…
Violence sucks and is unnaceptable when its not on the football field or a battlefield…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Where’s Dakota? This morning he said that he had had a breakfast of peyote with Tyrannosaurus Rex and Crazy Horse in a cave in the Black Hills. He should be prescient at his time and be able to explain all and sundry to everyone’s satisfaction.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Tom Flores…
and out of my post you conclude I do??
February 20th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Hey, she just wouldn’t listen.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Holyroller
I told ya so…Justin Smith is still available as of now…and the the list of quality available FAs is getting shorter and shorter as the tag is being applied to most the guys that were on my short list and would have been an asset to the Raiders…in 08
February 20th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
i got a question? we locked up namdi right ? (exclusive right baby) i know this is a super reach… but we know al loves corners. they also say wer’e workin hard long term for namdi. what if we do a power move and sign asante samuel….. hmmm
can somebody say lester hayes ,mike hanynes…dang
think about it then you answer….
February 20th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
shhhh . . . Chris Long . . . shhhh!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
LMN, isn’t it two a.m. in Denmark? You have stamina young man. Or perpetual sleeplessness which has inhabited my life over the past twenty-odd years.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
LMN
I didnt conclude anything…I just did not want you to think I was overly defending Fabian. He could be guilty of being dumb or violent or who knows…maybe he was trying to save the kids life or hers or both or just plain pissed off…which is a scary thought…
you added a portion of the article which I read rather hastily regarding the battery charge….I was just responding…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
LMN, I thought you might be interested in this
According to John Clayton of ESPN.com, the Steelers have applied the transition tag to tackle Max Starks.
But the device doesn’t give the team any type of compensation if he signs with another team. Instead, the Steelers have only a right of first refusal.
The right of first refusal can easily be overcome via a “poison pill” that makes the full amount of a tender offer guaranteed if, for example, Starks plays at least five games in any one season at Heinz Field. It’s a valid device for prompting player movement, and the league and the union were unable to negotiate this twist out of the CBA after the Vikings’ use of it to snag Steve Hutchinson from the Seahawks was upheld.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Flores
You must think the rest of the teams are stupid to let go of the good players and keep the practice dummies.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
OUATITW
yeah, I know, we can still get him. if we give him a deal like Hutchinson got in MIN
February 20th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
LindRukas, i thought about that watching the superbowl. Asante is a chest thumper. I me me mine. Burned for the first go ahead TD in the 4th quarter by Tyree and misplayed a game-ending interception in the final drive. But he damned sure looked good doing it. shit, Stanford Routt could’ve done that.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Linds…
I think it would be awesome to have Nnamdi and Assante in Al Davis’ office together with their agents and open the check book and say “ok guys…what’s it gonna take to have both you guys locking down the corners for the next 6 years ?”
This way..they both know what each other is gonna make in their contracts and there is no jealousy or anymore contract discussions…its just done…NEXT…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Unknown
absolutely not dude…its all about cap space…and right now we are reall winners for the first time in years…we have room to do something great that could impact our team for years to come and still have room to sign our rookies…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
anyone got info on rashard baker the ss who started fromthe pats. then we signed him. is he a potential player ?
February 20th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Hutchinson’s deal was that the language of the Viking contract guaranteed him to be the highest paid O-lineman on his team. Walter Jones was already at such a high figure that there was no way for the SeaGulls to match it.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
regarding practice dummies…
we actually have a pretty great practice squad actually…filled with guys we hope can improve enough to make our roster…I am sure that’s how it is with other teams as well…
reality is…Cap Space determines rosters…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
M…
in fact it was the other way around…
It was jones there had a deal with Seattle, said he was to be the highest paid. MIN gave Hutchinson a bigger deal, and then they couldn’t take both - because Jones, deal should be re-negotiated to a higher number than Hutchinson.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Cloudy here, don’t know if the eclipse will be seen.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Lets get em MAVS!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
M
c’mon now…that catch that Tyree made was a miracle and nothing short of that…Samuels has been a consistent playmaker and everybody gets hyped and blows it once in a while…trying to run a ball out of the endzone can be stupid… or it can end up with glory at the other end…most CBs would have taken the chance to run it back. You win some…you lose some…you just hope that you are on the winning side more often than not…and right now…we do not have a top CB on the other side…we could defintely be untouchable deep with a Nnmadi/Samuels combination at CB…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
If you want to understand what happened to Fabian Washington, google Chris Rock’s “How not to get you xxx kicked by the police” on youtube.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
sorry M…I read your post wrong…guess I have dislysexia to go along with my typing skills…
I still think as I am sure most of Raider Nation that Samuels would defintely be an improvement over existing CBs (not including Asomugha) and find a very happy home here…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
one hour and 30 mins til the eclipse…and as usual its cloudy or foggy in San Francisco…
February 20th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Nope Mr. Flores, not the miracle catch by Tyree (that was on Harrison), the simple slant route in the end zone in front of Senor Asante for the 10-7 lead is the one I was talking about.
The intercept he missed went right through his effing hands , thank God, or the Pewk’s would’ve won.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
m ..he had better games he also knocked away a touchdown pass in the end zone to burgess. i’m not all on his nuts don’t get me wrong. but he is a player. him and namdi would be a rukas on pass defense. i also see routt coming along too. i just wanna see the ‘d dominate thats all my man !
February 20th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
I don’t understand why we gave him the Exclusive Franchise designation, as opposed to just giving him the regular Franchise designation. Exclusive means we have to pay him more. If we had designated him our Franchise player, and someone wanted to give us two 1st round picks for him (highly unlikely), I’d say take it!! Granted, neither pick would probably turn out to be as good as Nnamdi, but combined the two picks would probably be a hell of a lot cheaper. We have got to start thinking of these things in terms of the salary cap ramifications! I really hope we can reach a long-term deal with Asomugha before the season starts, because paying him Exclusive Franchise money this year is very bad for our cap.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
I think tagging him exclusively is a “sign of good faith” by the organization to appease him until they can work out a long term deal. My guess is they are on the brink of finalizing the deal but not close enough to wait until he hit the open market.
I’m hoping that Nnamdi doesn’t sign the 1 year tender and inks a long term deal within the next few weeks.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Good Call Linds!! You guys are all asleep. Rashad Baker could be a very good aquisition for us. He’s been signed and waived a bunch in the NFL. Bellichik tried to get him on the field but didn’t have room for him. Seems like he’s not outta work for long. Basically he has been a reserve and special teams player his whole pro career. Seems like a pretty good special teamer tho.
His best year as a pro was ‘05 with Buffalo. Played 14 games none as a starter but still had 2 pix and a sack. Gotta like that.
Comes from University of Tennessse which is an excellent program. 4 year starter, was defensive captain his senior season, and first team All SEC as a junior. Looks like teams stayed away from him as a senior.
Didn’t we go over this before?? This guy can play.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Linds…Daraiderrukas,
I always enjoy your respect and enjoy your input. Thank you. I just don’t get all fired up about Asante Samuel. Sure, as a pick-up, but for ten million a season? Dakota wrote something yesterday. It added up to $47,000,000 and change for the top five CB’s in the NFL last year. And guess what, not a single one of those five won the ring.
Nnamdi has worked hard, give him his props, give him his cash, he earned it on some poor Raider squads. Asante, let the Kennedy’s buy the man an island getaway.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
BTW, I’d think it would be uber smart to make a run at Asante Samuel.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
LAKERS RULE!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Samuel would be the kind of signing that Al Davis loves. What are the chances that the Raiders take a look at Donte Stallworth?
February 20th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Sorry, Linds…rukas, that should read I always respect and enjoy your input.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Night guys!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
OakGlenn, 20 mil/ year for two corners? Pray nobody pulls a hammy.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Have a good one LMN.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
I don’t know Trevjo, think about the New York Giants or New Orleans Saints. Both teams have excellent front sevens and both could REALLY use corners and might spend a first rounder on one anyway. So, to have an bona fide excellent cover corner is going to cost you one extra first rounder to guarantee an excellent player?? Probably would be worth it. And then where would that leave us? Effed, that’s where.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Hey, M, the salary cap IS going up. lol
February 20th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Oakglenn, is this your Devil’s Advocate ploy?
February 20th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
OG -
what is the likelyhood of my scenario in post#62 being true?
Just wondered what your thoughts were…
February 20th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
could be.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
RaiderDogg, your post of #62, is close to what is going on with Nnamdi.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
There is no way Samuel will be a raider this year!!!
Lets focus on more logical ideas.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Well, Dogg that’s the best case scenario. Players HATE the franchise tag, so whenever a player is franchised, instantaneously it’s not a good sign. With Nnamdi you figure he’s probably tired of losing. Since he went to school around here, he has some roots here so that’s a benny. One can only hope they can come to an agreement sometime this year. If not, add CB to a position of need.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
#87 Dave Casper -
Do you know something that I don’t?
Oakglenn -
Thanks for the input, I’m hoping that the organization rewards Nnamdi for his hard work and production. He deserves it, without question.
Unknown -
I didn’t say that signing Samuel would be a logical decision, I just said it would be the kind of signing that Al Davis loves
February 20th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
If we could get Lito Shepherd that would be huge. I heard he is on the trading block.
February 20th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Oakglenn, yeah it guarantees an excellent player, but an excellent player at an extremely high price! What good is Asomugha going to do us if we can’t stop the run and can’t pressure the quarterback, and don’t have the cap room for the needed upgrades in the front 7 (not to mention our offense)?
February 20th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Maybe Fabian could get his hands on AD’s neck??? Just thinkin’…
February 20th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
that b$#%*#ch had it coming~!
February 20th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Trevjo, I agree. I think if it’s the last piece of a teams puzzle, and they have some room, hey, go nuts.
February 20th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Nnamdi’s a big piece of the puzzle and once our D is where it needs to be everyone who said it was stupid to franchise him will regret it.
February 20th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Jerry, I know he wasn’t there last year but would you let us know if AL is at the Combine. I thought since Parcells was in charge in Miami now Al may attend.

Can’t wait to see/hear more news from the combine!! I bet Chris Long puts up some surprisingly good numbers.
February 20th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I applaud Fabian for choking/assaulting his girlfriend…she likely deserved it…women are always complaining about being treated equally…if she deserved a beating like a man then she should get it.,…I would not hesitate to beat the F out of a woman if she had it coming,…all you “real men” who would never hit a lady are losers…as I said, if they want to be treated equally they should be.
February 20th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
beach
It sounds like you continue to have bad experiences with women!
February 20th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Not yet,..but as I said,..I wouldnt hesitate to beat the F out of one if its deserved…no question about it,..Fabian did the right thing….by the way so did OJ.
February 20th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Wow, Beach…
I’d love to see some burly-ass chick kick the crap out of you!!

February 20th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
An African should never harm a european beach. You know that
February 20th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Dakota- I can’t wait until Bynum’s back. It’s unreal how Gasol, Fisher, Bynum, Bryant, & Odom will be playing for championships for the next 5 years.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Thanks for the laugh Casper,..Im at every game,….section 129…north endzone,…are you aware how gay you are for threatening people on a message board?…but as I said, thanks for the laugh loser.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
DSM,
I agree. I just hope they can find a way to get Bynum and Gasol to work together well.
Shaq looked okay, but Bynum would match up much better against him than Gasol.
The Kurt Thomas trade to the Spurs is the biggest threat in the West in my opinion. Forget Kidd and Shaq.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
what seat puddin. Dont back down now!!
February 20th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Willing to take that chance LOSER, looking forward to meeting you. I’ll be wearing an away Casper jersey, but I’m quite sure you know who I am soon enough…

February 20th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I just read that the coin flip will be between the RAIDERS, falcons, and the chefs. The RAIDERS and the falcons will flip for the third pick. Whoever losses will then have to flip with the chefs for the fourth pick. That sux, I always thought it was only between us and the falcons.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Hey gay boy Casper,..how about wearing black to the coliseum,..total homo,..wears an away jersey to home games,…by the way only gays like you think you scare people on message boards.

As usual I try to get caught up on the blog and your promoting a fight, a drinking frenzy, or basketball talk.
I bet you can’t wait for some real football news.
I have some Capt Morgan, how does that sound?
February 20th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Grim
I’m sorry to say your information is not correct, the worse we can be is fourth, based on common opponents and record.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Beach, what seat are you in. We are beginning to sense fear bud!!
Maybe if Casper said he was a woman you would meet him tonight right?
February 20th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
You read it wrong GRIM,…we pick 3rd or 4th,..KC cannot pick ahead of Oakland,…need any more help?
February 20th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Scared B*tch!! We will be face to face soon enough so till then LOSER!! I really think you are lying about wear you sit during a game, but I will be here anytime and can meet you basically anywhere in the USA, so jump Scared B*tch…
February 20th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Grim,
You are getting bad information. The NFL announce that the Raiders and Falcons flip for #3. If Atlanta wins there will not be a flip between the Raiders and Chiefs because the Chiefs had a better win percentage against common opponents. If the Raiders win the toss with Atlanta, then a second flip between the Falcons and Chiefs will be necessary to decide who gets #4.
So we are guaranteed #3 or #4…trust me on this.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:33 pm

February 20th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Dave Casper, I am not sure you are correct on either account, but sleep well.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Thanx for the correction all. The way I get to this blog is through Raidernews.com and in the NFL news section there is an article that is titled “Falcons Fate Rests on Coin Flip”. So I guess the writer of that article has his facts mixed up. I would copy and paste it for you all but I don’t know how to do all that. But like I said, thanks for the correction.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
The movie Semi-Pro looks like a good 1
February 20th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Is the coin flip tomorrow for sure?.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Grim, I have noticed that some papers are reporting it incorrectly, even the NFL Network had it wrong the other night…but sleep well knowing that we will have the #3 or #4 pick.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Here is the TRUTH…oh shite, it came from BSPN! Maybe we really can get the 5th pick, lol!

February 20th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Bob, the coin flip is Friday, but I can’t find what time it will be held.

Dakota- Until Tony Parker’s injury is cleared up, the Spurs won’t be winning anything, especially after trading situational scorer Brent Barry.
After he has surgery they’ll be back to battling it out with the Lakers every year.
It’s crazy to think about how all of the talent was in the West before the trades started and now is shifting more to the West with Gasol, Kidd, & Shaq.
However, from what I’ve read Gasol in the LA Times, he is a quick learner and is a natural in the triangle and can be very effective at C or PF. Having Bynum at C, Gasol at PF, and Odom at SF will give us a huge lineup.
The best part of adding Gasol is Odom doesn’t have any pressure and can score a lot more points. He’ll become the 4th man when Bynum returns and this will allow him to have multiple triple doubles.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
DSM, the Spurs are still the team to beat. Parker should be fine by April and Thomas gave the Lakers fits in the 2006 playoffs with the Suns…I hope the Suns and Spurs beat each other to death before the Lakers have to play one of them.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
The coin flip is Friday, this is how it goes down.
The NFL official shows the coin to the Atlanta representative and then to the Raider Representative.
The rules are then explained, if it lands on the side it’s Atlanta win, if it hits a foreign object and can’t be found Atlanta wins, if it goes up and doesn’t come down, Atlanta wins.
The coin will have the common head of some character and the tail of some unlucky picture of a bird.
New scenario.
The nfl official will show the coin and says to the Raider representative, hay was that Al Davis and the Raider representative looks and the switch is made,to a two headed coin.
The Atlanta representative knows the script and selects heads and the coin lands on heads.
Atlanta wins, we get fourth and a typical day in the life of the NFL.
ESPN reports that Kiffin wanted to be the Representative but Al would not let him, Kiffin storms out of the area and demands too be treated fairly, Chris Mortensen of BSPN reports Kiffin is on the way out in Oakland.
Later that evening the Raider Representative is eating dinner and the NFl official leaves a tip, the Raider representative notices that same coin, he is surprised at the two headed coin, he calls Al and tells him of the tale of the cheating coin.
The NFL denies any cheating, they discard the tape of the coin flip and and Roger Goodell will meet in the next few months with a political representative from Oakland.
Al decides to sue the NFl and the lawsuit will take place in Dublin, future home of the Raiders.
We decide to trade down anyway for ?
February 20th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Dakota
Ok, thanks, so friday it is.
By the way, you are right…. I can see the articles already after the Spurs win again…Gasol, Kidd, O´Neal…Kurt Thomas? yes, the unheralded, much-traveled veteran forward proved to be the most important midseason acquisition…blah, blah.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
DON’T JINX US DELL! I really think we will win this toss…
February 20th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
And the worse part is none of that would even surprise me Dell.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Mista,
Did you see that Warriors/Celts game? What a great win for the _____________s!
February 20th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
I heard Mayock is stating Jake Long will be a premier RT and a good LT.
Hope the Chiefs take him and pay him LT money!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Marley
Just left, disgusted with us, missed out on all the fun, so when is the Draft again.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Dakota- I can’t believe you are a ND fan, but since you are, what do you think of C John Sullivan? Is he nasty, does he have a mean streak?
February 20th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
DeAngelo Hall possibly on the trade block…any takers ???
I mean if we can’t afford Samuels DeAngelo was less than 2M before bonuses…we might eb able to get him well under what Samuels will fetch…but is he as good?
He is in his 4th year and has plenty of miles left just like Samuels…either one of these guys will leave us without alot of concern at CB
February 20th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
“Raiders say `hands off’ of Nnamdi”
………..
Hey Al,
Hands off of my game plan!
February 20th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Routte is going to have a breakout year this year so we don’t need another CB. Bowie is going to play a lot of nickel along with Washington and Nnamdi is going to continue to shut down his side of the field!!
February 20th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Washington might be playing flag-ball in 5 months.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
DSM,
John Sullivan is a stud, 6-4′ 290, finishes blocks well…I would take him in round four if available…knee injury late last season, but I think he should be okay by now.
I like Zbikowski too, but I don’t think he is fast enough to handle the NFL…
February 20th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Speaking of ND, I would like to see us sign Jeff Faine instead of drafting Sullivan…
February 20th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Dakota
Did you forget Farrell( i use my original name) from this morning, anybody thinking of Zbikowski is DUMB.
Get with the program, Dakota don’t be so DUMB.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
I wish that the NFL Network could broadcast the team’s interviews of the players…that would be some entertaining TV.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Raiderdell
that scene was funny…are you a script writer or something…I hope I dont have nightmares about that coin flip tonight…I guess tomorrow is going to tell us if we just scored 400 points in trade value or not…that’s equivalent to a mid second round pick. Since we always seem to be on the losing end of anything left to luck…I will hold my breath and hope we actually get the number 3 pick overall and trade it on the spot with Atlanta for their number 4 or 5 pick plus DeAngelo Hall !!!
hahahahahahahhaa………………
February 20th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Anyone posting their real name on a web site is DUMB.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Wherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre’s lohan. Im waiting
February 20th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Tom Flores
I played that script out that way for some laughs.
I’ve noticed most bloggers the last month or so always comment like this “We should draft with the fourth pick,…?)”
It’s totally unbelievable most fans don’t envision us winning the coin toss.
Thanks for the kudos about my coin flip script.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
DSM
man that is either one hell of a crack pipe you been smokin’ or you are a genious…I like you think we will be ok there….IF WE DRAFT 2 DTs…or a DT and DE in the first two rounds…then I will buy what you are selling…but even then…I would love to have a guarantee….Samuels or Hall would make it a guarantee…
February 20th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Dell…
Still here, having some fun reading everyone…I don´t really have much to say with nothing going on but hopefully we´re in for an interesting rest of the week with the combine….and for what it´s worth I ”feel” we will get the 3rd pick.
Have a good night everyone.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Sweet dreams fellow Lakers Fans! You too Raiders fans…later.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Bob
Thanks for putting up with us, it sure beats not having to talk about McClown or Ryan.
Shsssh, please don’t start any one.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Dakota
I appreciate the fact that you go so deep in your draft picks in your choices and really take the time to evaluate small school guys…it keeps me popping around the web tracking them down…
so far my favorite small school pick was Oakglenns USD QB Johnson…I will bet he goes undrafted or late 7th…didn’t Troy Smith win the Heisman and drop to round 6 ???
February 20th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
wow my spellin ggets worse and worser and worst the more I right. hahaha
February 20th, 2008 at 10:39 pm

The night is still young, it will get worse, or you’ll drink less or smoke more, oh what the hell, just go for it.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Tom Flores
We have many bloggers on this sight, Dakota is one of the many guys I would like to have drinks with, and we both like rum and coke, it would be a slobbering fest about football, after many drinks.
Also LMN would be there to.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Goodnight all
February 20th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Word has it Lane Kiffin is going to run the team the best he can without Al’s blessing on anything, including even getting defensive players to play zone schemes and blitz despite the calls being put in. At least two defensive players are already on board, and they’re no light weights.
Lane will start McCown no matter what. Lane has the ball in his court because if Al fires him he has to eat his salary. If McCown gets hurt, Russell will play and the game plan will not change. Run heavy with controlled passing.
I’ve got this from two different people inside of the organization.
Don’t take my word for it, guys. Just remember this post come September. Bookmark it, if you have to. And tell me I was wrong.
February 21st, 2008 at 12:33 am
It would be dumb to start Mc Cown no matter what, especially if JR show good things in the pre season. But about the run heavy, everybody know that for a long time. We will not see too much of pass if the run is very effective. Need to protect $60M, and run is the best protection. About the Defense, LK now that something has to change, he tried to change the DC. So i believe that or he will do some call on D, even if it is not his speciality or wake up RR to tell him to change some plays on D.
February 21st, 2008 at 1:01 am
Run the ball heavily with fargas, Rhodes and Bush. Open the hole with OO and Griffith. Alternate them to change the pace, and keep them fresh. Plus use their strenght. Don’t name a real starter, split the snap between them, with of course more snaps for the best RB. you can see sometime one guy is more confortable against some Def, or depending the day.
Play short pass, the same way Green Bay did last year. Play safe QB, and let the WR and TE gain yard after catches. Then when the opposing D is close to the line, start throwing one or two long pass. That is the way i see the game next year. For that you don’t need the best OL, you need good back up cause. Above average starter (Gallery, Grove, McQuistan)and good back up (Sims, Newberry, Morris, Henderson?, Green).
February 21st, 2008 at 1:15 am
I am a female who has been in familar altercations.I admit we can get kinda Psycho especially if jeolousy is involved. I have learned that kids not need to be involved in Domestic Violence cases. I don’t know their story but I think he was trapped into that relationship. In this day and age i believe there are alot of Birth Control methods to use.Whatever the case i hope it all turns out for the best.if there was Alcohol involved that is trouble there also…
February 21st, 2008 at 2:50 am
Stamina and back up will be they key of the success.
You want to run heavily, eat the clock, you need to have stamina and back up, especially in the OL, RB and FB. 4 WR on the roster is enough if you don t plan to throw the ball too much. 2 possessions and 2 fasts, plus TEs ZM and Madsen.
On D, if you stop the run, you force opponent to throw. That is the good moment to send Burgess, Clemons, Williams (olb) to blitz. That is why raiders tag Nmandi. They hope the ball will fly next year, so at least one good CB is imperative. If we stop the run, i bet you guys that next year Asomugha, Routt Washington, Huff, and even Schweigert (hope he will be there cause i think he is good againt the pass, but weak against the run) will combine for at least 20 picks.
February 21st, 2008 at 3:27 am
hey x can u get the exact explanation on ryan!
#1 was he told by lane he is fired & when ???
#2 and why did or would al reverse that decision by lane, after al gave & let lane do whatever he wanted?
#3 why would al like ryan???
please dont come baCK with the typical espn version !
WELL ALDAVIS RUNS THE TEAM, AL DAVIS MAKES RYAN DO WHAT HE DOES,AL DAVIS DOESNT LET THE COACHES DO WHAT THEY WANT ETC!!!! JUST ASK YOUR 2 BUDDIES INSIDE THE TEAM THAT Q & A !!!! PLEASE FOR ALL OF US!!!
February 21st, 2008 at 3:35 am
Ldynblk26
Thanks for your perspective on the Washington news.
February 21st, 2008 at 3:54 am
Davis70, wish I had more for ya. But note my challenge; Come September, show me where I’m wrong.
Cam13, McCown will start this year. Lane Kiffin will never start Russell unless there is absolutely nobody else available. You guys can mark my words on that, too.
February 21st, 2008 at 4:02 am
my perspective on al & lanes’ ” tiff w/ kiff” is simple !! go back to sarkasian intview! what could lane bring to the table that wouldve done the following ?????????????
#1 have al call him back for a head coach intview!
#2 have sarkasian upset w/ lane after ward to point of non speaking terms! ( the deal here is,steve was qualified for the job,he is oc @usc, qc in nfl , and has history w/ al & nfl he is a “known entity”,)
so steve finds out that lane goes back for a hc intview & is distraught & annoyed , he then removes his name from contention,he hasnt talked to lane since!! that doesnt strike me as a “level playing field” scenario!
#3 have al davis want to hire lane & allow any new ideas/personel/ coaches & al then pays out over 5 mill to fired coaches!
MONTE KIFFIN!!!!!! LANE PROMISED MONTE @ END OF YEAR!!
THIS IS WHY LANE WAS FORCED TO KEEP RYAN FOR 1 YEAR! HE CANT FIND A DEF CORD THAT WILL TAKE A 1 YEAR JOB! AL WOULD SAY FIRE RYAN NOW??, YOUR DAD IS HERE IN A YEAR,I’LL FIRE HIM THEN !!
LANE HAS 1 YEAR TO GET HIS DAD CONVINCED NOT TO RESIGN W/ TAMPA #1 , AND GET RID OF RYAN B4 THAT # 2 ,
WHEN ARKANSAS CAME KNOCKING LANE LOOKED AT THIS AS A WAY OUT OF THE STRESS THAT HE HIMSELF CREATED BY LYING ABOUT HIS DAD!!TO AL DAVIS!!
THIS IS WHY LANE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE IDEA OF “BACK TO COLLEGE”!!
ALSO WHY HASNT LANE DEFENDED HIMSELF THRU MEDIA YET!OR CLEARED UP THE SMOKE ON THIS HUGE SUBJECT!??
CAUSE ANY ANSWER HE GIVES HE WILL BE LYING TO THE PUBLIC! AND EVERYONE IN OAK OFFICES WILL KNOW IT, AND LOSE EVEN MORE RESPECT FOR HIM!!!
BUT THIS IS THE REASON WHY HE DID WHAT HE DID W/ RYAN , FIRING B4 END OF YEAR,HE KNEW HIS DAD WAS GOING TO PLAYOFFS FOR AT LEAST 1 WEEK,
SO LANE KNEW HE HAD 1-2 WEEKS TO FIRE RYAN,B4 AL CAUGHT WIND & FGURED OUT THAT HE DONT HAVE HIS DAD IN BAG! ALSO AL GOT THE ‘CALL” FROM PETRINO ABOUT THE LANE CIRCUMSTANCE, AL THEN GETS UP LANES BUTT& CONFRONTS HIM WITH THE “TRUTH” AND THEN FIGURES OUT THAT HE NEVER HAD MONTE IN BAG!!!THIS IS WHAT WOULD DRIVE AL OR ANY OTHER OWNER TO PUT A “RESGNATION LETTER” IN FRONT OF HIS COACH!!!!
February 21st, 2008 at 4:55 am
Jerry, do you think Oakland will now try to land asante now that fabien is getting into trouble, it`s a shame for me about fabien, he`s from my area here in Florida.
February 21st, 2008 at 5:28 am
X….
I hope you are wrong. Russell is a huge investment to set on the sidelines while McCown starts.
I guess we will see…
February 21st, 2008 at 6:46 am
The trolls are attacking FW already , the charges will be dropped if the girl doesn’t cooperate, we still need more help in the secondary , NA will not be here long term after he sees what Asante Samuels gets and Al is not going to pay 10m a year for a corner, the kid from Tennessee State would be a great insurance policy if he’s available in the second round, all you Corey Williams fans should have known the guy would be tagged, if we go 1st with Jake Long to protect the kid for years we need to get a DL or DB in the second , I prefer a DB but the kid from Auburn would be tempting if he’s there also. Trolls and detractors let’s get it on I’m used to it by now.
February 21st, 2008 at 6:50 am
oh, please…
X is a rabble rouser…
Kiffin could not do more to hurt himself than to deliberately refuse to play his best team…
also, the notion that several defensive players will take their cues from Kiffin while the rest of the defense executes what Ryan calls is equally ridiculous for the same reason…
X is fishing for excitement… nothing more…
I believe the term is “troll”…
February 21st, 2008 at 6:52 am
For all guys with jealous women problems “CALL THE POLICE FIRST AND TELL THEM SHE SLAPPED YOU” whenever they start bitching, it’s saved the lives and pockets for many guys!
February 21st, 2008 at 7:18 am
I don’t blame Fabian for losing his cool with some jealous Gold Digger…just don’t get arrested for it. Then she wins.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:35 am
We do need a Left tackle…BADLY. But I would hate to see Sims beat out ANOTHER underachieving first rounder, if Al does select Jake Long.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:45 am
Ok..not really funny but in light of the Fab story….
February 21st, 2008 at 7:46 am
—”The Giants will not place the franchise tag on potential free agent FS Gibril Wilson, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
The Giants have never been into using the tag. The sides aren’t believed to be close to a contract agreement, either. Wilson, who is searching for a deal that will guarantee him $11 million, seems likely to hit the market.
Feb. 21 - 10:43 a.m. ET”—
Yessir - just come to Oaktown, baby!
February 21st, 2008 at 7:47 am
Heads AL, call Heads…tails always fails.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:51 am
Do you think most of the players & coaches realize how much Sims & Ryan Suck… It’s pretty obvious from the Fan’s perspective.
February 21st, 2008 at 8:01 am
Fabian is innocent until proven guilty…do we call heads or tails? wonder which one statistically comes up the most? Is C. Long so good that we pick him over a DT?
February 21st, 2008 at 8:06 am
X says……..
Lane will bench JR to make Al fire him
Andrews Mom says ………
Kiff will do whatever it takes to field a winning team
February 21st, 2008 at 8:13 am
Lane & Russell will do fine this season. It’s all nonsense that Kiffin wanted Quinn over JaMarcus…Quinn sucks.
We need to be moew concerned with Ryan & Sims… Those two are liabilities.
February 21st, 2008 at 9:05 am
Way to much money for big play giver upper Nnamd. The D. has to many needs on the line that will take lots of $$$$$$$ Another “Bundy Blunder” in the making !!
Just sell baby and so it is……………..
February 21st, 2008 at 9:21 am
We need to be concerned about alot more than just Sims, our best offensive lineman on the team and Ryan, our failed DC of the past few years. We have huge holes on both sides of the ball and marginally talented players surrounding those holes. We need a talent infusion badly. FA will be the key and the draft will help, hopefully.
And as long as whatever FWash or any other player does doesn’t get them suspended or the team penalized, who cares. It’s his “personal” life. What I care about is what he or any other player for the Raiders does on the football field.
February 21st, 2008 at 9:50 am
If fabian could be as physical on the field as he is on his woman he might pan out to be a decent player. There are ways of dealing with crazy women and choking them out isn’t the way. Next time call the cops
February 21st, 2008 at 10:55 am
The Denver Broncos still lead the league in wife beating.
