Overheard at the combine

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, February 21st, 2008 at 8:52 am in Oakland Raiders.

A few items of interest gathered Wednesday night and Thursday morning around town and at the Indianapolis Convention Center at the NFL scouting combine:

– The Raiders raised more than a few eyebrows with their designation of cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha as an “exclusive” franchise free agent.

The general feeling is there is no chance Asomugha would have drawn two No. 1 draft picks or brought back an offer sheet. If Asante Samuel were to land a huge deal with a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus, Asomugha’s deal could exceed $10 million this year.

– One personnel expert’s assessment of LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey as opposed to USC defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis:

“Dorsey. Hands down. He’s a top four pick no question while Ellis is a nice player but belongs in the top 15.”

– A contingent of Raiders assistants has arrived including offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, offensive line coach Tom Cable, assistant line coach James Cregg, tight ends coach Kelly Skipper, special teams coach Brian Schneider and strength coach Brian Roll.

One assistant said head coach Lane Kiffin would arrive Friday. Defensive coaches should filter in over the weekend as players are evaluated.

No one on the Raiders coaching staff or front office is scheduled to address the media at the media center, where 31 coaches, general managers and front office personnel are scheduled to speak Thursday through Sunday.

Raiders assistant coaches must be requested through the media relations department to speak on the record, and no media relations members are at the combine despite the number of credentialed media.

According to one assistant, things have “quieted down” after what was said to be a “rocky” few weeks.

I’m told Kiffin and Rob Ryan are fine with their relationship, and were fine personally whether Ryan was in or out. That corroborates what I was told earlier _ that their disagreements were philosphical in nature.

– The word is center Jeremy Newberry hit playing time incentives that pushed his 2006 salary past $3 million last season. Newberry proclaimed he wanted to return, and Cable is pushing for another contract, but so far the Raiders have been slow to make a deal.

Could be nothing. The Raiders often make no move toward a player only to begin negotiations out of the blue and quickly close a deal, as was the case with running back Justin Fargas.

– Former Raiders and Cowboys defesive tackle Russell Maryland was patrolling the hallways and talking to team personnel regarding his video venture, Webb Electronics.

“Things crazy as usual?,” Maryland said. “I still pull for the Raiders _ even though they’re the only team in my career that cut me.”

– According to one personnel man, Raiders wide receiver Jerry Porter, scheduled for free agency after voiding the final year of his contract, may not get the big payday he desires.

“Can’t run,” he said.

– Place kickers, punters and some offensive linemen were brought into the media room, as well as Bears head coach Lovie Smith, Bills coach Dick Jauron, Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert, Jets coach Eric Mangini, 49ers general manager Scot McCloughan and 49ers coach Mike Nolan.

    when is the coin flip?

  2. M.I.A. Raiders Says:

2nd but Vernon Gholston with be the 1st selection the Raiders make after combine finishes……You’ll see…

  3. M Says:

    Ryan Clady, Boise State, 6′ 6″ 310
In his own words he describes himself as a tackle best suited to a zone blocking scheme.
Much more nimble a foot than J. Long.
If he is the next O. Pace I’d take him first in a heartbeat.

The unidentified comment on JP is hilarious.

  4. Dan Says:

JP/Curry can’t run. Johnny Lee can’t hold on to the ball. Madsen can’t get on the field. Ain’t pretty.

Bummer comment about Elis. Hopefully we win the flip and have access to a player deserving of a 3 pick. Although good chance we have to reach based on needs of teams above Raidahs

  6. DSM Raider Says:

    The coin flip is tomorrow.

I would love the 4 spot only if Atlanta picks DMac or Ryan.

Why, being a Raiders fan I’m inclined to think Atlanta already has it wrapped up similar to a few years back when the Raiders won the coin toss after the season and then were told it was no good and they had to toss again before the combine, thus SF ended up with Davis and we ended up with Huff.

  7. MR.RAIDER Says:

Good news about Kiffin If he was at senior bowl and now at combines it appears he will have some say in player choices not like reported earlier. Sometimes where theres smoke its only a smokescreen. Alls well in the nation.

  8. Fender52 Says:

Ok, jerry, how much dis-information is floated around at the combine? Especially by the Raiders.

  9. daaraiders Says:

The coin flip is tomorrow (Friday).

We don’t know the source of the Dorsey over Ellis comment. Maybe it was someone from LSU or someone trying to throw everyone off track. That said, if Dorsey is there when we draft we have to look real hard at him as well as Chris Long, Ellis and maybe Jake Long too but I think I would prefer Clady over J. Long.

    GO Raiders!

  10. gannon for president Says:

EVERY mock draft has the raiders at #4. does anyone else notice this? it’s almost like someone out there KNOWS the raiders will “lose” this coin flip deal.

mcfadden is definately the sexy pick, but the game itself is played in the trenches. last time i checked, the team is not doing a great job at maning said trenches; draft a lineman!!!! DL, OL doesn’t really matter, although dorsey would look great in silver and black!!!

  11. Dan Says:

Regardless of where we pick, I suppose I would be happy enough with best of the avaiable lineman. I’m not that concerned with drafting someone too high, provided team thinks that player would be a stud. For example, I’d rather draft Elis at 4 (when maybe he’s 8th best in draft) if other players available and rated ahead of him don’t fit our need (Ryan, McFadden). Perhaps I’m diminishing salary cap implications too much, but what’s the alternative? Would we really get a lot of value trading McFadden? To be determined, but I wouldn’t think its too likely.

  12. BIG AL's GOON Says:

As I have said for many weeks, G. Dorsey is the pick. There are no question marks, if’s or maybe’s about this guy unlike Ellis with his questionable size, determination and motor or C.Long being a tweener. “IF” we decided to go offense Jake Long has to be the pick.

  13. BIG AL's GOON Says:

Also, as I said a few weeks ago, Nnamdi is a solid corner, but he’s not elite and we’re about to pay him as if he were. Hopefully, we can get a long term deal done before the FA period ends so this mistake can end. We have way to many holes on both sides of the ball to pay a solid player basically 10mil for a season.

  14. Weaselbit Says:

    Biletnikoff wasn’t fast.

Porter’s experience and hands are what we need.
He is too old for major cash, though.
Plenty of young, fast, and high leaping wide receivers out there.
Just bring in the best athlete and let Lofton coach him.
What we really need is a D lineman who wreaks havoc.

I think Ryan and the defense feel they have something to prove.
Those guys are in the gym right now, lifting their brains out, thinking, “I’ll show those A–holes.”
That can be a strong motivator.
Those guys know how close their games were.
    Bottom line: they’re still Raiders.
    The team everybody hates.
The team who wins when they’re not supposed to and just pisses everybody off.
Just go out and ruin some other team’s afternoon because it’s fun and that’s what Raiders do.
    War evil.
    It’s gonna happen.

  15. M Says:

Cool, posters coming in from the cold.

    Gannon for President…that you Montana?

  16. MR.RAIDER Says:

Later round picks and undrafted FA’s will be the key to sucess this year still to many holes to fill. Our 1st round pick will help but its not going to put us over the top. Hopefully theres a few diamonds in the rough later on.

  17. MR.RAIDER Says:

Kiffins knowlege of players will be key

  18. just win baby Says:

How ironic that the two teams involved in the coin toss are the teams that heve had the biggest black clouds hanging over them recently. I honestly think that their draft needs are different and that it won’t really matter all that much.

  19. MR.RAIDER Says:

I agre JWB Atl. needs a QB without any drama attached not line help. Possibly dmac only to fill the seats

  20. stretch Says:

run stuffer 1st pick. then some offensive weapons for JR

  21. BIG AL's GOON Says:

Porter is no Biletnikoff by any stretch of the imagination. FA will be the key to our success this season. We need talent in the worst way on both sides of the ball. At this stage in the game we have enough back-ups to marginally talented, to developmental players. It’s time to get some “proven” talent with some know-how. I say sell-out on the draft and get Dorsey or J.Long or trade the pick for a some proven talent to fill a need or replace one of the many marginally talented players currently on the roster.

  22. just win baby Says:

Brohm may go to Atl. I hope we draft a DT.

  23. just win baby Says:

It won’t be difficult to make upgrades to the WR position during FA. Porter should not be kept even if we can get him cheap. his cry-baby b.s. will resurface if he isn’t the go-to guy. we need a better go to guy.

  24. ChargersChoke Says:

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie! If this guy is there in the 2nd round we need to take him!

  25. cOMMITMENT tO eXCELLENCE Says:

the raiders are shown in most mock drafts as #4 because if the lose the flip the will automatically pick higher than KC. if they win the flip there will have to be another flip between KC and ATL to determine the #4 and #5 picks so they just put them at #4 because there are too many intagibles with putting them at #3.

  26. ChargersChoke Says:

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie! 6′2, 190 lbs, 4.3 40 yard dash, he will light up the combine on DB day!!!

  27. ATLRaider Says:

I like Assman and all, but franchising him is costing a lot…he isn’t even an elite corner…above average yes, elite, NO.

We have so many more needs on Defense. Vikings just released a Safety:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d806c5ee2&template=with-video&confirm=true

  28. cOMMITMENT tO eXCELLENCE Says:

there is still time to sign awsome to a long term deal i believe they have until june or july.

DeSean Jackson. this guy is a playmaker, although not a top 5 pick and prob wont be there in round 2

  29. Terrapin Says:

Looks like the media is being penalized Jerry for all the “irresponible rumors” flying about the Raiders.

Don’t put that much stock into what 1 personnel person thinks of Dorsey vs Ellis. You saw for your own eyes at the Senior Bowl what Ellis is capable of. Many personnel persons have conflicting views on the two. Ellis is Top 5 worthy - so is Dorsey. I am still giving Ellis the edge by a hair.

I just hope they pass on J.Long - don’t pick J.Long - whenever you hear “Will have problems against elite pass rushers” STAY AWAY! The pick is C.Long/Ellis/Dorsey or if you wanna go OT that early take a long look at Clady (try to trade down).

Pick up Red Bryant or Dre Moore in the 3rd. Dre Moore is fresh and raw at DT. Hasn’t played a lot of football. He’ll require a lot of patience but that damn boy is gifted. Red Bryant + Sedrick Ellis = Top 10 vs run …. = + 0.500 record.

  30. Terrapin Says:

Thats if we get a 3rd of course - keeping my fingers crossed for that

  31. Ryan Says:

So far I have done 40 mock coin flips with the Raiders winning 22 of them. Looking good Nation!

  32. M Says:

For coin flip info read RaiderDell post #145 from last night.lol

  33. RAIDERSITH Says:

We need to sign Jeremy Newberry, he did a very good job last season.

  34. La Milicia Negra Says:

The coin flip is tomorrow (Friday).
    _______

    When is it friday?

  35. MR.RAIDER Says:

Red Bryant should be there in the 2nd round. Seems like what we need. Not a pass rusher but a run stuffer. We have enough pass rushers

  36. Dakota Says:

Newberry is a warrior, but that damned head whip of his gives away the snap every damned time…can’t that be coached out of a player? The defense knows that within 1/2 second of him whipping his head forward the ball will be snapped, that is a huge advantage for the defensive line.

  37. La Milicia Negra Says:

—”League sources tell Scout.com’s Adam Caplan that the Vikings have interest in Jerry Porter.
The Vikings should be desperate for receiver help. Porter, D.J. Hackett, and Donte Stallworth could all fit in their West Coast scheme. Porter’s speed after the catch is a concern, but he’s an upgrade for Minnesota.
    Feb. 21 - 1:47 p.m. ET”—

  38. Bill Says:

Shell killed Porters career, looks like they both lose…

  39. RAIDERSITH Says:

I dont think he can Dakota, he has been doing that his whole career. But I think he is the best Center on the team.

  40. They Call Me Assassin Says:

Dakota, Newberry’s neck is 3 feet long. If he blinks his eyes his head is likely to move. We’ll just have to accept him for who he is.

I love the guy, we need to get him re-signed asap. Our run game is crap without him.

  41. They Call Me Assassin Says:

I hope we made the right decision on Nnamdi. He’s a good player, but as someone mentioned in here before, teams were less likely to throw against our sieve of a run defense thus his reputation may be slightly overrated. Similar to our defense after the ‘06 season.

Fabian, Routt, Carr, and Bowie could get it done assuming we could rush the passer. That’s where we need to spend the money. I’m glad Nnamdi is back, just wanted to see some money spent on DL first.

  42. Brown81 Says:

I’d still like to see us get Dorsey and then get Hawkins in the second round. I’d rather have D. Jackson but I don’t think he’ll be around by then.

  43. Dakota Says:

Forget Newberry, sign Jeff Faine, or draft a C in round 4.

  44. RAIDERSITH Says:

Nnamdi is a very solid DB, he has size and speed. The problem I have with Washington is he never looks back for the ball, he is usually in position to make a play on the ball, but rarely does because he doesnt look back for the ball.

  45. Brown81 Says:

We did make the right move on Nnamdi. It’s true that teams were able to run on us, but they also didn’t throw Nnamdi’s way because he had that breakout year the year before. He was the only bright spot for us that year (7 picks I think), and was an alternate for the Pro Bowl. Dude’s good and will continue to get better. He needs help in the defensive backfield though. Maybe another solid corner or a safety that can actually tackle.

  46. Dan Says:

By the way, props to Jerry. He got quotes directly related to our pressing questions: Kiffen, JP, Nmandi, Dorsey v Ellis, etc..

Too bad about Fabe’s. After ‘06 I expected him to be our breakout DB. Now he’s a back up girlfriend beater.

  47. They Call Me Assassin Says:

If we draft a C it needs to be a big run blocking type like Fernando Velasco. All other prospects are no different than grove. I like the Faine idea.

  48. Brown81 Says:

Hey at least Fabe wrapped somebody up

  49. M Says:

    Dakota
Morning. I didn’t know about Newberry tipping off the snap. My only knowledge of him comes from a friend who knows the whole Newberry clan. My friend said that the old man is a complete a-hole and that Jeremy is a clone. Being nasty helps out in the trenches. I’ve never met either of them.

  50. Oakglenn Says:

Porter 1000 times more ability and one billionth the desire that Freddy B had.

  51. Bo Jackson's Hip Says:

Porter is too slow. Let him leave. If he stays it better be at bargain price.

  52. Brown81 Says:

Oakglenn, truer words have never been spoken

  53. Chris in NY Says:

We should sign Newberry to a low base pay salary with playing time incentives. He’s still a major injury risk.

We will need to get a real LT somewhere either in FA or in the draft. Someone who won’t jump offsides every other play and will protect JaMarcus’ blindside from Merriman, Jared Allen and other elite pass rushers.

You can’t just say because Gallery was a top o-line prospect from the Big 10 and he was a bust that all OTs from the Big 10 will stink. Look at Joe Thomas of the Browns. Top o-line prospect from Wisconsin and he makes the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Having said that, I’d still prefer Howie’s kid with the No. 1 pick. But I can’t imagine going forward with Sims-McQuistan as our bookend tackles again.

What happened to the talk about the Lions trading/cutting Shaun Rodgers? He would be a huge upgrade to the d-line. If Sands gets his stuff together that could be devestating duo. Also, what about bringing Chad Slaughter back and moving him from OT to DT. That guy is a whale. Probably not quick enough to ever fit in the zone blocking scheme but maybe he could help plug up the middle on defense. Add in Chris Long opposite Burgess with Clemons and Richardson subbing in and that becomes a great and deep d-line.

  54. Oakglenn Says:

The problem with most of our db’s is lack of a consistent pass rush. Most of the time for 3-4 seconds they have blanket coverage. 4-5 seconds, everyone’s gonna be open, and that’s at any level.

  55. M Says:

Biletnikoff looked cool smoking with Blanda on the bench.

  56. RAIDERSITH Says:

I have met Newberry a few times out on the Delta, he is a good dude. He was playing for the Niners at the time, I told him he should make the jump across the Bay if the Niners ever cut him and he said you never know, It could happen.

  57. Brown81 Says:

Back in the Brown/Rice days, I thought that Porter was going to be great because he was learning behind two of the greatest receivers of our time and dude had all kinds of talent. Turns out he’s a lazy piece of crap with no heart.

  58. hawaiiR8DR Says:

So many scenarios to look at!!! IMO, we need the best run stopping tackle or the best offensive tackle to be taken in the first round. Even at that, the “Raiders” have many holes to fill, but its a start! Free agency will be the key to a winning season.

  59. Brown81 Says:

Maybe all Porter needs is a pack of Marlboro’s

  60. They Call Me Assassin Says:

Cowboy’s tagged Ken Hamlin…his name has been discussed in here…sorry for the off topic interruption

  61. M Says:

Brown81, the Marlboros wouldn’t hurt him none.

  62. La Milicia Negra Says:

—”The Chicago Tribune reports that the Lions are shopping Shaun McDonald.
The Lions have solid depth at wide receiver, and are looking to fill a number of holes on defense this offseason. One possible destination for McDonald would be San Francisco, where he’d be reunited with Mike Martz, who drafted him in 2003 and now leads an offense lacking depth at receiver.
    Feb. 21 - 2:04 p.m. ET”—

  63. RAIDERSITH Says:

Porter had two of the greatest WR’s to ever play the game to learn from, and he has never played up to his potential. Im not to worried about him going to another team.

  64. M Says:

Good evening LMN, any more explosive developments in the homeland?

  65. La Milicia Negra Says:

    nope, pretty slow news day

  66. drray Says:

does anyone have updates on bush’s leg??

  67. RAIDERSITH Says:

How bout that Warrior’s game last night? B.D is a pimp!

  68. Oakglenn Says:

Raidersith Porter had THREE!! Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and his position coach, Fred Bilitnikoff. If three hall of famers can’t teach you how to be a solid WR in the league, no one can. Guess What??? No one can.

Drray: bush is fine and he’ll be in camp early.

  69. RAIDERSITH Says:

Ooops, my bad Oakglenn, how could I forget about the great Freddy B?! I had high hopes for Porter, oh well, back to the drawing board.

    REPOST FOR REALITY

    RaiderDell Says:

The coin flip is Friday, this is how it goes down.

The NFL official shows the coin to the Atlanta representative and then to the Raider Representative.

The rules are then explained, if it lands on the side it’s Atlanta win, if it hits a foreign object and can’t be found Atlanta wins, if it goes up and doesn’t come down, Atlanta wins.

The coin will have the common head of some character and the tail of some unlucky picture of a bird.

    New scenario.

The nfl official will show the coin and says to the Raider representative, hay was that Al Davis and the Raider representative looks and the switch is made,to a two headed coin.

The Atlanta representative knows the script and selects heads and the coin lands on heads.

Atlanta wins, we get fourth and a typical day in the life of the NFL.

ESPN reports that Kiffin wanted to be the Representative but Al would not let him, Kiffin storms out of the area and demands too be treated fairly, Chris Mortensen of BSPN reports Kiffin is on the way out in Oakland.

Later that evening the Raider Representative is eating dinner and the NFl official leaves a tip, the Raider representative notices that same coin, he is surprised at the two headed coin, he calls Al and tells him of the tale of the cheating coin.

The NFL denies any cheating, they discard the tape of the coin flip and and Roger Goodell will meet in the next few months with a political representative from Oakland.

Al decides to sue the NFl and the lawsuit will take place in Dublin, future home of the Raiders.

We decide to trade down anyway for ?

  71. M Says:

JP can sign with the Minnesotans, hang out at the mall of the Americas telling everyone how wonderful he’s gonna be, how glad he is to be out of Oaktown, run over a female cop or two, and reminisce about the good old days of watching Moss try to take down another franchise.
And he’ll damn good gettin’ off the bus.

  72. Terrapin Says:

I dont know you guys but when I see…

    Tommy Kelly 27
    Gerard Warren 29
    Terdell Sands 28
    Josh Shaw 28

….I’m done waiting for the light to come on cause if it hasn’t yet chances are it never will. What you see is what you get.

  73. M Says:

Anybody read that the suit against the NE Pewks (filed in New Orleans) is being extended on behalf of all employees of all NFL teams that played against the Belicheats and all fans who attended any of the games during the era. Now that’s funny.

  74. RAIDERSITH Says:

Im with you Terrapin, what have they done for us lately?

  75. Terrapin Says:

This defense needs more talent on the line period! I am not holding my breathe for this line to finally get its act together. At 28/29 years of age you are pretty much at your peak. Who here liked what they saw last year w/ these linemen in their peak?

Maybe I’m being too harsh but I really don’t think its going to get much better for this corp. Fresh, young, dominant talents are needed.

  76. M Says:

Terrapin, What would it take to light a fire under the aforementioned young men for them to perform at a higher level? If your assessment is valid, t’ain’t no fire big enough.

  77. petroraider Says:

We need Dorsey. I hope that unnanmed personnel expert doesn’t speak up too much and remind everyone that Dorsey is the best player in this draft. It is totally concievable for Dorsey to fall to either 3 or 4 with Ryan, McFadden, both Longs, and even Ellis all drawing alot of attention. Dorsey is just the type of DT that we need. He controls the line of scrimmage, and there is nothing finess about him. I can’t wait to see what Morrison and Howard can do when they’re free’d up.

Also lets hope Dan Connor absolutely bombs this week at the combine. He is your prototypical “gamer” who is not a physicall specimen. At the senior bowl he spent all week being called slow, small, and unathletic only to have 9 tackles and a pick in the game. You guys may not belive me but it is totally concievable for this guy to bomb so bad he falls to us in round 2. Being a ILB at PSU he will translate well into a strong side LB in the NFL. Wtih him our LB corp would be complete for the next decade. If he doesn’t bomb I’m sure Adarius Bowman will be around to give us WR help in round 2

  78. Terrapin Says:

personally i think O’Connor is overrated as it is.

  79. Scottish Raider Says:

I can’t prove this but, I bet that the strong and passionate feelings expressed on this and other sites, saved Lane Kiffin in January and forced Al Davis and his Alameda brown-noses to see sense. Never has the Raider Nation spoken out so clearly against the tide of events. We wanted stability, professionalism and a direction forward…and we might have achieved it.

Bully for us. The Civil War is postponed….but not cancelled…just in case.

    Right, on with 2008.

Shame about Laurinaitis staying in school. Why hang out in 3rd world Ohio when you could be idolised in Oakland? Did anybody offer him a date with Raiderette Chelsea?

  80. 2sense Says:

wouldn’t it be wonderful if no one wants porter and oakland gets him for less than what he was scheduled to receive before he voided his contract.

god that would make me laugh. he thinks he so freakin good……..yet……..he’s so freakin bad.

take him for half a mill and then cut his ass next year. ha karma.

  81. RAIDERSITH Says:

Most of these Mock Drafts have us taking McFadden, man I hate this time of year!

  82. Scottish Raider Says:

We don’t want Porter. Mr Sham - the flash-in-the-pan!

Jerry Porter’s ego has always slowed him down. He is good when motivated but he has never been $8m great.

Bye bye, Jerry. Thanks for the memories…which I have already forgotten.

  83. Scottish Raider Says:

Mike Mayock says McFadden is over-rated because he has skinny legs.

    In depth analysis?

  84. Oakglenn Says:

Raidersith I thought the same thing. Terrapin, as usual good call. 99% of NFL personnel guys thought the cubboard was REALLY bare here in the biggity, biggity O. Slowly, that is starting to filter into the nation. That’s why no one has picked us to be any better than a 5 win team any time soon.
Now, is all hope lost???? Absolutely not. The good news is we have an absolute franchise QB!! We haven’t had a franchise QB since Stabler!! Mission #1 Accomplished. I like our running back combos. Our offensive line showed glimmers of hope. Our TE’s are solid. Our WR’s…………well, let’s just say I am pysched about Todd Watkins possibly taking #84 as his number!
Some stud DL and a stud SS and we are ready to go. The operative word is “some” meaning more than one DL.

  85. RaiderDell Says:

A few items of interest gathered Wednesday night and Thursday morning around town and at the Indianapolis Convention Center at the NFL scouting combine:

    – The Raiders raised more than a few eyebrows with their designation of cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha as an “exclusive” franchise free agent.

The general feeling is there is no chance Asomugha would have drawn two No. 1 draft picks or brought back an offer sheet. If Asante Samuel were to land a huge deal with a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus, Asomugha’s deal could exceed $10 million this year.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Let’s read between the lines, a few eyebrows means the Raiders want exclusive rights to Nnamdi, and no ridiculous offers to come his way, with the teams
offering trying to create a larger contract for Al to pay, with no intention of giving up two no 1 picks.
Simply put drive his value, create media attention, and create a division between the negotiations.

Jerry may not know, Steve Baker Nnamdi agent says” we circled this date knowing full well about the Franchise Tag”.

Finally in C-Wood last contract year Al paid over 10 million, for a DB that was injured parts of the last year he played and still asigned him the tag.

Remember the Raiders were stupid to tag Woodson, injury prone, washed up,fast forward to this year missed All-Pro team, was spoken by the media in glowing terms, an asset to GB.

This cap number for Nnamdi will be reduced with a long term contract.

  86. petroraider Says:

It is totally possible that he will come back to us begging for the money his original contract promised him. The market is absolutly flooded with big slow recivers. We need all the WR help we can get right now so I wouldn’t mind seeing stay in oakland.

  87. M Says:

Well ScottishRaider, if this site, as you surmise, kept Kiffin in-house, then as the overwhelming majority here want to take a lineman with the first pick, that means we will get our wish.

  88. Chris in NY Says:

What do you guys think about taking a late-round flyer on Xavier Lee (QB, Florida State) and moving him to RB or WR? Incredible athlete. Seems like an AD pick.
Maybe he could even return kicks and punts. Josh Cribbs of the Browns was a college QB. Now he’s easily the 2nd best return man in the NFL (behind probably the best ever — Devin Hester).

  89. M Says:

Perhaps JP can find Sprewell to hang out with. They can swap stories about how much money they are worth and how foolish people have been to not pay them as much as they want.

  90. Scottish Raider Says:

    M,

    Spot on.

I really hope we get Glenn Dorsey. He is a real warrior, a leader and a play-maker. We can build a DLine around him. Ellis would be a decent alternative.

I would also like to take a Olineman in the 2nd. There is good depth and a good one (Sam Baker, Gosder Cherilus, Carl Nicks) falls to No37, we can’t resist.

    WRs will wait

  91. BIG AL's GOON Says:

Yeah, since going to GB, Woodson has shown you and the rest of us just how washed up he is. LOL!! C-Wood has been a gamer since being drafted. Simply put, we did the right thing letting him walk because we had and unfortunately still have way to many holes and marginally talented players to pay one player 10mil a season continuosly.

And what do you expect Nnmadi agent to say? His job is get his client the most money he can in the least amount of years with as much guaranteed money as possible.

I’m not in on the negotiations, but “IF” Nnamdi is asking for Nate Clemons type money we need to let him walk. Hopefully, we can get him signed to a sensible long term contract.

  92. Scottish Raider Says:

    Chris,

Good idea. This draft is very deep and we should also be working on tapping the best undrafted prospects. A lot of good prospects will be on the board at the end of the 7th and we need to be hitting those phones.

  93. Scottish Raider Says:

5 other 2nd Day Oline ‘bargains’:

    1) Adam Kraus OG Michigan
    2) Derrick Morse OG Miami
    3) King Dunlap OT Auburn
    4) Bobby Byrd OT Washington State
    5) Kory Lichtensteiger C Bowling Green

I think this draft is so, so much deeper than 2007. Day 2 is now really important.

    But we need more picks!!!!

  94. Terrapin Says:

    1. Sedrick Ellis/Glenn Dorsey
    2. Baker or best OLT - pull last year’s stunt - trade down - get a 3rd
    3. Red Bryant or Dre Moore - trade up if necessary
    4. Best available WR - maybe Adarius Bowman falls here

Lets get this show on the road!

  95. Draft Beer Says:

    1st…Dorsey….Sands sucks

2nd… Red Bryant….Defensive Line needs quality depth

4th…Jordy Nelson…a definate upgrade over Porter

  96. Scottish Raider Says:

    Terrapin for GM!!

If we have a 3rd, then there is a real case for taking another DT. I would add Marcus Harrison (Arkansas), DeMario Pressley (NC State) and B.J. Raji (Boston College).

Raji is huge. 6-1, 340lbs. He won’t have to move much. Just crouch and smile!!

  97. H/D RAIDERFAN Says:

Hey isn’t Randy Moss a free agent…. Just Kidding!!!

  98. holyroller Says:

no media coverege for the raiders at the combine and period at least good coverege only draw back about being a raiders fan

  99. 2sense Says:

for those of you torn between picking long/dorsey/ellis. here’s some numbers

of the 28 defensive tackles selected in the first round since 2000, 11 have made it to the pro bowl. (about 40%)

of the 30 defensive ends selected in the first round since 2000, only 5 have made it to the pro bowl. (about 15%)

27 defensive ends were selected in the second round since 2000 with only 3 pro bowlers.

I guess if you go with the numbers it seems like a no brainer.

  100. holyroller Says:

randy iwil be a FA by 5 o clock

  101. Scottish Raider Says:

    Beer,

I like Nelson, but he might have gone. We still should have a good number of options in the 4th, including:

    1) Marcus Monk, Arkansas
    2) Keenan Burton, Kentucky
    3) Andre Caldwell, Florida
    4) Adrian Arrington, Michigan
    5) Davone Bess, Hawaii
    6) Ryan Grice-Mullins, Hawaii

The Hawaiian guys are falling as Colt Brennan free-falls down the list, but they are under-rated.

I also like Mario Urruttia, Louisville. He is huge and quick enough, but he has a bad image and could be a real bargain.

Oh, and how about Colt Brennan in the 6th? A ready made back-up to JR?

  102. holyroller Says:

at lot of those numbers the DE are moving 2 OLB in a 3-4 scheme much more teams run it than before

  103. holyroller Says:

thus lowering the % of pro bowl DE

  104. holyroller Says:

whats up with tommy kellys status

  105. holyroller Says:

brandon albert from i think virgina is a beast this guy is a raider player match made in a black hole

  106. Scottish Raider Says:

Branden Albert is an intriguing prospect. He is probably the best OG in the draft but was very effective when tried at OT for two games. I would love to see him in Raider colours but I fear he will be long gone by No37.

  107. MR.RAIDER Says:

    Draft Dorsey,Bryant,& Cherilus

  108. Rob Ryan's Pickled Liver Says:

If we can snag Dorsey and a solid Middle Linebacker and Strong Safety…Rob Ryan can’t help but put a decent defense on the field….keeping fingers crossed!

  109. Dakota Says:

Wow, the Warriors picked up Jermaine Oneal at the deadline for Pietrious, Croshere and other assorted junk…nice move!

  110. R8R_ERN Says:

  111. 2sense Says:

    what about jake long???

I think he’d do the job. nobody even mentions him in here barely.

doesn’t anyone think Al might want to protect his 30 million dollar investment??

since mario henderson is a big mystery, let the two of em battle it out in the summer.

  112. M Says:

    Dakota that is good news.

  113. MR.RAIDER Says:

It all starts in the trenches

  114. LIVE.B.A.Raida Says:

Nnamdi got threw at like 30 times last year, and only 10 of those were complered! 12+ pass deflections! He shut it down, nuff said. Nnamdi is worth the $$$$$

  115. Scottish Raider Says:

RRPL, his biggest decision - based on current personnel - is whether to keep Morrison at MLB or move him outside. I think Morrison isn’t a natural MLB and needs to be moved to strong-side.

Why aren’t we trying for Zach Thomas or Derrick Smith?

We need a veteran run-stuffing MLB. Its a priority!!!

  116. Dakota Says:

    JUST KIDDING WARRIORS FANS!

    GO LAKERS!

  117. Dakota Says:

    Scottish,

Thomas said he will only play for a contender, but Smith might still be a possibility.

  118. R8R_ERN Says:

    Warriors! Can I hear playoffs!

Daivis is the chit! That shot last night will be plastered!

  119. MR.RAIDER Says:

  120. Fender52 Says:

I’m with Mr. Raider: J Long’s evaluation says he has trouble in exactly the type of situation we want to protect J Russ in: those speed rushers.

  121. MR.RAIDER Says:

    I think Indy signed Smith

  122. Scottish Raider Says:

I think Smith would be a great signing.

Jake Long is a RT not a LT!

Pat Kirwan has just posted an interesting and insightful article on NFL.com. Well worth a read:

you bastard. I was scrambling to read the news then I saw your follow up. I missed both games last night but I have read a few times on this blog that the Bearded One made it happen last night. I guess it’s time to go to the Warriors website.

How did Shaq look last night, slow & lethargic?

  125. Scottish Raider Says:

Would Shaq make a decent DT? He looked like a stretched version of Terdell Sands last night.

  126. M.I.A. Raiders Says:

    *** V-E-R-N-O-N G-H-O-L-S-T-O-N ***

    Just read for yourselves already…..

“Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State: If Gholston works out as well as some are forecasting, he could end up being long off the board by the time the Patriots are up (#7). The Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year, Gholston is the most physically imposing player in the draft and is earning comparisons to San Diego’s Shawne Merriman in some circles.

  127. Dakota Says:

    HeeHee! Sorry Dogg…kind of anyhow.

Shaq started off pretty slow, but he got a couple of nice baskets in the lane in the fourth quarter…the Lakers just pick and rolled him to death when he was on the floor. He had a lot of energy last night, but I don’t think he can bring that level of energy every night. He was just pumped up playing against the Lakers and playing in his first game as a Sun…

The look on Steve Kerr’s face was priceless when Shaq only had 5 points and the Lakers had an 11 point lead in the second half…he looked like someone just kick him in his fruit basket, lol.

  128. MR.RAIDER Says:

A rookie cap would make picking alot easier the bust factor wouldnt be so crippling

  129. Rob Ryan's Pickled Liver Says:

I can’t see taking Gholston over Dorsey… But, that would certainly be an Al Davis pick if we get Gholston. Al probably nocturnal emissions over Gholston’s physique.

  130. Dakota Says:

As weak as the NFL Player’s Association is, it makes me wonder why a rookie salary slotting system is not in place. Is it just one of the concessions the owners had to make to keep guaranteed contracts out of the NFL?

  131. Rob Ryan's Pickled Liver Says:

Al Davis needs this when he sees a picture of Gholston:

    http://www.fatcitytattoo.com/vaseline.jpg

  132. Unknown Says:

How come you poor-man experts put gallery above sims. Gallery plays more nervous than a 1st game starting quarterback! You know he is going to false start when the game gets tight! We could get some youngster making 40% of his salary to out-play him.

All of the talk about he had a good year is for people accustomed to losing.

Now the other guard had a hell of a year and he rarely gets applauded!

  133. Oakglenn Says:

Scottish, my opinion is 11+ years as an inside LB basically you are gonna be beaten up. Thomas is ready to sign with NE, but I’d be surprised if he passed his physical.
Danny Clark and Clark Haggans might be good options, altho Haggans mainly plays outside. Both of those guys to me would be better cheaper replacements inside.

MIA, gholstons stock right now is clearly rising. He could go 2 overall.

  134. Scottish Raider Says:

With the popularity of the 3:4, old-fashioned MLBs are somewhat hard to find. I still think Derrick Smith is a low risk, sensible choice.

Letting Danny Clark go was a dumb move. Do we have the humility to ask him back?

Gholston is rising on the DE bandwagon but he would be a reach in the top 5. His tape performances are very mixed and he seems to quit at times. I still think Calais Campbell is the best DE prospect. He is raw but has a bigger upside than Gholston and Long.

  137. RaiderDell Says:

    Glenn

We want Gholston scock to rise as you said, let’s put another guy in the can’t miss top 5 and we will be able to chose the player we need at number 3.

Will Gholston remind Parcells about Lawrence Taylor, in as a game changer not in impact, re his overall skill set like Taylor had, just another player to press the top spot.

  138. Old Raider Fan Says:

We need a DL first and foremost.

  139. RaiderDell Says:

    Old Raider Fan

Who is your choice at DL

  140. Unknown Says:

    arkansasraider

I like your assesment. But the problem is we need to much!

Sign ‘em all! Let Big Al sort them out!

  142. RaiderDell Says:

    Dakota

Even Jerry Buss has limits on money, apparently not on blondes, wow what a posse he has, whew.

  143. They Call Me Assassin Says:

Gholston is of no help to us. He’s a great athlete and a potentially great player but this system would only slow him down. We must go DT or Chris Long, I don’t know where we would even put Gholston. Tweeners have never fit in here.

I agree with Raider Dell, let his stock rise so someone like the Jets can trade up for him and give us a 3rd round pick.

  144. Rob Ryan's Pickled Liver Says:

Can somebody put Al Davis in a rest home before the Draft so he doesn’t screw it up!!

  145. Old Raider Fan Says:

RaiderDell, Glenn Dorsey. Ellis if he is gone.

  146. M Says:

    RaiderDell,
you have the story-telling gift. Do a write-up about Gholston. Hype the daylights outta the kid. Make certain everyone knows that he is the greatest thing to hit western civ since the hot shower. That’ll get one of the top two picks out the way for the Raiders to get who they covet most.

  147. Dakota Says:

Jerry B is living the dream! I just hope his son doesn’t mess sh!t up once Jerry overdoses on E.D. meds.

  148. RaiderDell Says:

    Call me Assassin

Exactly, look below us the number of teams that play the 3-4 defense, let’s hope he runs a sub par 4.4 forty.

Create opportunity for us, slightly trade down and still get our pick and save cap space for us.

  149. They Call Me Assassin Says:

    Here’s a very likely scenario:

Al drafted JR, it’s his prodigy and he want’s him to succeed. The only pick that makes sense to Al is the idea of getting a Left Tackle to protect JR. Regardless of who’s on our practice squad/current roster, Al will draft the best Tackle that impresses at the combine.

    Hope this doesn’t happen.

  150. They Call Me Assassin Says:

I’m writing as we speak, help me send it out nationally, we must invade every blog in football land, and let’s call Chris Mortensen and get his e-mail
to help drive up his value.

I see it now, the Raider fans want Gholston and we drive it up so a trade occurs, I can see it now
“sources in the Raider organization are excited about the prospects of drafting Vernon Gholston out of Ohio State”, ??

  155. M Says:

Assassin, I could not fault that scenario if the LT is indeed a world class talent.

  156. They Call Me Assassin Says:

A guy who seems to see his stock rising is Clady (OT from Boise). Mayock has him as the best OL now. Unlike Gholston’s rising stock, this will hurt us as there will be fewer Tackles to pick from in round 2.

We need to make a play at getting Sam Baker. he’s perfect for us. I don’t think his measurables will impress at the combine.

  157. Dakota Says:

Careful guys, you might convince Big Al that we should draft Gholston!

  158. M Says:

Draft day BBQ at Dakota’s house. Grilled T. Rex burgers.

  159. They Call Me Assassin Says:

M - It’s not entirely a bad scenario, I just don’t like the prospects at the position we sit. I’d love a LT as long as it’s in the 2nd round.

  160. Dakota Says:

    Give us a link Unknown…

  161. Andrews mom Says:

    149…..

If Al really wants to protect JR he will trade for a proven LT instead of drafting a hit or miss or take 3 years to develop rookie.

  162. RaiderDell Says:

    Old Raider Fan

We had a dude here yesterday say we are DUMB to draft a DL namely Dorsey and Ellis, he said we should trade down and grab SS Phillips from Miami.

We are DUMB he said not to think that way like he does.

So my friend you are one of the many DUMB ones here, I’m glad you are smart though, good choice .

Capt. Morgan will be acceptable as the rum, please don’t tempt me with Bacardi 151, I will be in heaven, sort of.

  165. Sonny Says:

Asomugha is the best man to man corner in the NFL. QB’s like Manning and Farve do not shy away from any corner including Bailey yet they stayed away from Asomugha.

The kid is that good and without a great pass rush. Give the kid a great pass rush and nobody would touch him. When I want to know what a corner is I listen to what the great receivers he covers think of him, not what some 4 eyed media type that played jacks as a sport in high school is telling me.

  166. They Call Me Assassin Says:

The only thing DUMB about drafting Kenny Phillips is that the scenario isn’t likely. I’d like Phillips too but who’s going to trade up. Dallas won’t break the bank for McFadden, regardless of what is being reported. It’s just hype so Jerry Jones can get his team in the paper.

Let me tell you this, Buss has prettier blondes around him than Hugh Hefner(girls next door) does.

Wow what a party when Hugh and Jerry have a get together, I bet those stories are interesting, in fact that should be a reality show.

  172. Dakota Says:

    Ouch.

  173. They Call Me Assassin Says:

I heard an interesting piece on Sirius NFL radio today from Mike Smith (Falcons new Coach).

He uses the combine as a tool to gauge the players health and character. The decision on drafting a player per his abilities are evaluated from tape.

That said, if this is how most coaches persue the draft it’s likely that Matt Ryan would be their pick. Even if we pick 4th we will have a great DL prospect waiting for us. Chris Long and Dorsey will be gone, leaving us with Ellis or McFadden. I actually want to pick 4th because it’s the breaking point for McFadden’s draft status. The war room phone should get the most attention at that spot. Al makes some dumb decisions on who he picks, but he always seems to move around in the later rounds. Here’s to him getting it done and picking up that extra pick.

  174. Unknown Says:

    Dell

No I still havent seen the pictures yet. I hope they are better than her last movie that I wasted my dollars on, I know who killed me.

I waited for someone to send the pictures, but I got a high from watching cat-house valentine special though!lol

  175. RaiderDell Says:

I watched the press conf with Lovie Smith, coach of the Bears, yes they cut Musin Muhmmad(probably spelled wrong) and spoke of Mark Bradley and Devin Hester and another name I can’t recall, my point is it seems to me there not going to break the bank for Berrian.

I must admit he scooted by Berrian’s name when probed very fast, re signing him.

    Just my take.

  176. They Call Me Assassin Says:

    post 173 continued…

The Rams won’t take McFadden nor will Atlanta due to the QB need. We are pinned on most mocks to take him. We need to talk up McFadden and create a sense of urgency for those teams that want him. The Jets appear to be in a good position with whoever falls to them but they need McFadden a lot more than they need Gholston or Ellis. I’d get on the horn with the Jets and negotiate.

If we don’t take him and the Jets decide to go defense, he will drop to Cincy at #9. The Jets won’t allow that to happen.

  177. RaiderDell Says:

    Dakota

Find the URL on the Lohan pictures for Unknown, I saw them on You Tube yesterday.

I ask you because you probably have them in your hard drive by now, LOL!!!

  178. Dakota Says:

Sorry Unknown and Dell, it is very easy to find them if you google Lindsay Lohan…I am not getting my butt kick off this site, lol…at least not for HER pictures, she is a skanky ho.

  179. They Call Me Assassin Says:

This is the first time, in a long time, that we have money to spend, and an answer at the QB position, headed into the draft. This draft would be so much more valuable for us if we could sign Berrian or Hackett prior to drafting. This would allow us to build the trenches with the draft. I know most think rookies can’t start right away but I’d take my chances with a Dorsey/Ellis and Sam Baker. Then take Fernando Velasco in the 4th, Jaime Silva in the 5th, and finish with best WR’s/DT’s in the 6th and 7th. Otherwise we have to draft a WR early and the LT spot is much more important right now.

  180. Dakota Says:

    Dell,

I put that stuff on my flash drive so my wife doesn’t find it, lol.

    Just kidding hon…

  181. RaiderDell Says:

    Assassin

You my friend have the gift of propaganda, re the draft.

At the end of the combine you will hear everything about what each team likes and it will be to some extent a smokescreen.

I say, and continue to say, the Raider organization like the player that the teams below you need.

Drive a desire, need and the results will follow.

  187. JRaider1 Says:

I am definitely glad Tom Cable is at the combine already hope Al listens to his recommendations for o-line. Considering the line was built with a bunch of cast offs he worked wonders.

I know how badly we need to solidify the d-line but at the same time if you have a chance to get an OLT to protect your franchise QB. I am now thinking we have to do that just that with Long or Clady.

the only problem is in the Copy Cat league D-Line will go quickly thanks to the heroics of the Giants line. will there be a solid DT left at 37th pick.

  188. M Says:

Yes Dell, just readin’ the comments and enjoying the banter.

  189. RaiderDell Says:

Hey Liver if you go back and look at that vid (#170) what I love is watching the db TOTALLY baiting Porter who gets behind the db but then makes no effort at the ball, no effort at breaking up the pick, and then watch him just go to the sidelines and give up on the entire play, while the rest of the team is out there trying to make the tackle. Atleast Sims is trying out there. #84 is a piece of crap.

Dakota, I was in that embassy in ‘78 to read the Int’l Herald Tribune. That is where I read about the effing Lytle fumble and the Raiders being screwed.

  199. Dakota Says:

Wow, that is interesting. Where are you from M?

I was born in 1976, so I can’t say I watched that Championship game live, but I have certainly seen the highlights (or lowlights).

  200. M Says:

Born in the Bay Area, but been livin’ and travellin’ all over the planet ever since.
Found out about the Raiders SB victory over the Eagles at a hotel newstand in India.
Heard about the SB over the ’skins by shortwave on an island in Thailand.
You can take the boy out of the country but you can’t take the Nation out of the boy.

  201. Dakota Says:

Nice, I bet it was sometimes frustrating trying to get info on the Raiders half-way across the world.

  202. rodmoney Says:

If we see some quality players later in the draft we should trade down and pick some diamonds in the later rds like a Phillip Merling or K.Balmer in the 1st, the best WR for the Raiders in the second and trade F. Washington for anothe 2nd or 3rd(which we don’t have) to get a snotbusting SS. The 4th on down can be for backups and special teamers, late bloomers etc.

  203. M Says:

Yes, Dakota, imagine a pre-internet, pre-fax world of paper envelopes and days-old newsprint.
Getting a letter back then was a special event.

  204. ATLRaider Says:

I was Born in 1976 as well. This is the game that made me forever a Raiders Fan:

    M,

Thank gosh Al Gore invented the world wide web, lol. Otherwise we would never have heard Scottish and LMNs opinions…

Are you still out there travelling the world as well? Or have you settled back in the States?

Some of us were fans in the 60’s and didn’t need the internet to gossip with other fans every waking minute of the day, like a bunch of women.

  207. ATLRaider Says:

    Draft Beer,

    Rob Ryan….is that you?

  208. MR.RAIDER Says:

dallas didnt franchise there LT so hes a FA now

  209. MR.RAIDER Says:

Flozell Adams sign him and protect J Russ for the next 5 yrs

  210. Draft Beer Says:

Well M …I’ve read your posts and you seem to have the same problem. The difference is you like to display that malady numerous times a day.

  211. La Milicia Negra Says:

    MR. RAIDER…

If Dallas’ McQuistan can beat Flozell Adams of the team, so can our McQuistan!

  212. RaiderDogg Says:

    LMN -

You may be right. Pat McQuistan was a 6th round pick, the Raiders selected his twin brother Paul in the 3rd round. If a sixth round pick beat out Flozell the Hotel then Pat’s twin brother should have no problem manning that position. Also Paul was a Tackle in college that the Raiders thought would be a good guard, so he has experience.

With all of that being said I have a feeling Dallas letting Adams become an unrestricted free agent is strictly a money decision, not necessarily based on Pat McQuistans play.

  213. Draft Beer Says:

    ATL A Total Loser
let me guess …you’ve been an expert on hair styles since you were 6 too

  214. MR.RAIDER Says:

let Tom Cable decide that. Our McQ couldnt even beat out Green untill he was injured. And thats at RT So I disagree

  215. La Milicia Negra Says:

It would be a pity to see the ‘Floating Hotel’ in SnB - a waste of money. Max Starks is the answer =)

  216. MR.RAIDER Says:

If cable says no i’m good with that

  217. La Milicia Negra Says:

    MR. Raider…

exactly let Cable decide that, I’ll bet he has his eyes on somebody else.

Please no logic here,(Adams cap space) it will scare others from blogging.

You need to blog some where else, LOL!!!

Here’s the type of woman Draft Beer likes to take home after one of his Benders…

  221. M Says:

Au contraire, Senor Cerveza, I do not offer what I don’t know. If I speculate I write so. I do not write of the lives and history of other bloggers of which I know nothing. Dakota asked me something and I responded.
by the way Dakota, the Black Hills is one of the few wilderness areas in North America that I have never visited. It must be a fascinating place to roam around.

  222. Draft Beer Says:

Wow…I’m the smartest one on the blog when I can be the first to read the waiver wires and suggest every castoff lineman should be a Raider, reguardless if he fits the zone blocking scheme or not.

  223. RaiderDell Says:

    Draft

You have an edge about you.

Who do we draft with our third pick?

  224. M Says:

Dell, that is a fine question

  225. M Says:

Surprised that Mr. McDonald has not logged an update as to what he observed in the afternoon of combine day. Then again, perhaps he is relaxing with his buds.

  226. RaiderDell Says:

    M

I was able to see parts of the combine nothing real special.

I believe Jerry has to write articles for the sports page as well as his blog.

Most of the good info is being consumed now as we speak, it’s dinner and cocktail time, back there.

  227. RaiderDell Says:

I really wanted to see what Draft had to say about our draft this year, as an old time Raider fan he has seen it all.

  228. Alvis Whitted's Ghost Says:

Terrence Holt just got cut by Arizona…why not bring him in at SS and let Huff move back to FS? Both guys were clearly playing out of position for their resperctive teams last year.

  229. RaiderDell Says:

    M

Draft has a point, we seem to want old tired lineman, like Flozell Adams, who is 33 and has much wear and tear on his body.

I don’t think he should be compared to Lincoln Kennedy who we got in his mid 20’s.

I believe Flozell is about done.
