– On the drive in to the facility in Alameda, FoxSports Radio was reporting the St. Louis Rams had decided on Chris Long as the No. 2 overall selection.
Once entering the media room, the NFL Network’s Adam Schefter was reporting the Rams were entertaining offers from the Baltimore Ravens to swap picks, with St. Louis moving to No. 8 and the Ravens to No. 2.
Schefter also said the Raiders were talking with New Orleans about moving down to No. 10.
– In an interview on the NFL Network, Goodell said the draft was “the best day in the NFL.”
Better than the playoffs and the Super Bowl?
– Former Raiders safety Ray Buchanan was advocating Oakland’s selection of Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, saying McFadden would be “rejuvenizing” to the running game. He labeled McFadden “can’t miss” and compared him to Bo Jackson.
FoxSports scout Chris Landry, who is on record as saying LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey is the best player in the draft, thought it wouldn’t be wise to pass on Dorsey should he fall to No. 4.

Dorsey - T.Kelly has the position and injury concern
Gholston - too risky in my view. Muscles, yes, but too risky at No.4.
McFadden - this is he pick.
trade down - screw the second tier players, even multiple second tier players.
F.Washington - don’t want to see him traded, want to keep Aso, Hall, Routt, and F.Wash.
D.Burgess - I just don’t see how we trade him.
Screw adding more picks. We release most of them anyway (Moses, Frampton, etc., etc.) or sit them on the bench (Higgins, M.Henderson, McQuistan, etc., etc.)
Draft the offensive weapon. We have none now. Fargas is not a weapon. J.Walker, D.Carter, R.Curry, not weapons.
McFadden is a WEAPON. Take him.

In fact, the game starts at 12:55 today and I am praying that the #5 pick will have finished by then! “Rejuvenizing” is one of those words whose meaning is obvious in context - and today, quite correct. Mark Twain and Ring Lardner made up words all the time. Jerry, unlike the playoffs and Super Bowl, today EVERYONE gets to party, talk it up, and be hopeful. Springtime for the NFL. I hardly ever post here, but I just want to say in reference to the Howie and Al post that this is exactly what is so TERRIFIC about this blog and why I check it twice a day. You take an issue that we keep hearing one or two sentences about all over the mediascape and flesh it out with real inside dope. I leave feeling I actually learned something about Raiders past and present, wrapped in a perspective that is grounded and even-handed. When I talk to Raiders fans who don’t read this blog, they are always WAY out of the loop on what’s happening in the World of Al and Friends.
The commentators who post are interesting sometimes, but more and more I find myself reading the blog entry and moving on with my day. Keep posting Jerry!
