No. 4 to Oakland _ RB Darren McFadden
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 12:28 pm in Oakland Raiders.
With a choice which appeared to be made without a pre-pick phone call, the Raiders took Arkansas running back Darren McFadden with the fourth overall pick in the draft.
The Raiders at present have no more picks until Sunday.
I’ll check back later after Lane Kiffin’s press conference, at which point it should be known whether the Raiders are entertaining the possibility of dealing McFadden to what could be one of several suitors . . .

April 26th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

April 26th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
trade, lol. get over it jerry.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
wait and see what the Jets do.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Dude, the guys leg is so weak. he is nothing but another Reggie Bush. Please trade him to Dallas. In college you can outrun people around the corner but not in the pros. PLEASE AL TRADE HIM.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
shoulda grabbed DORSEY hope we trade down
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
A trade has got to be brewing for a 2nd rounder
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Welcome, D-MAC! Year Two of the THREE YEAR Lane Kiffin rebuild just got a jolt on offense.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
ok now we need to get free of L jordan. Plus that means, they are not so confident in bush.
we cant start a backfield JR, DMC, MB. They are all rookie
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Roger Godell goes to the podium…..
“There’s been a trade. The Oakland Raiders trade #4 selection Darren McFadden to…..”
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
I’m stoked and now we have USC’s offense but only better from the days of Leinart, Bush, White, and Williams.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
DMAC insilver and Black nice
April 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
macdonald..why dont you stop being a hater and realize mcfadden is a good pick..get off ur pick of vernon gholston..he wasnt worth the 4th pick!!! if its left up to u..we would be last..RAIDER HATER
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Mariucci loves the pick, what did they say at bspn.com
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
yes trade him
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
we have three backs already, and a good running scheme any 3 of our backs can get atleast a grand a yr
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
The Raiders could have had 1 - 2 and a 1 in 2009 for Dorsey. I hope DMAC is better than that.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Still work to be done.
Somehow we get more picks today, right?
Maybe we sell next years soul for Roy Williams!
That would be unbelievable.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
This pick better not be a pick for a future trade. We now go vertical with an 80 yard run.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Dmac is a great choice. Marcus Allen ver 2.1
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
At least it is not Gholsten
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Cam13, we can start at least 2 of the three rookies. No need to start all three. We have blocking FBs. Let’s go Raidahs!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Hoping for a trade down with the Saints…I get to enjoy the rest of the day now
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Wasted choice if we dont deal him for more picks.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dorsey to the cooks dont like it but what can you say?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
DARREN MAC MAC MAC ALL DRESSED IN SILVER & BLACK BLACK BLACK!
I like the pick. We spent a lot of $ on D and now AL is giving Kiff the weapons to improve our offense. We had no gamebreaker last year who scared the D as a threat to hit a home run on any play. We were the slowest offense in the NFL. DMAC is that player. The pressure will be on kiff to scheme to get this kid in mismatches like a LB trying to cover him out of the backfield. Kiff has experience with this w/ Reggie Bush. He is probably our 3rd or 4th best Wide reciever RIGHT NOW. If he can get 20 touches a game I don’t see how he does’nt crack 100 all purpose yards. Although we don’t really “need” him b/c Fargas broke 1,000 last year look at Minnesota last year. They already had Chester Taylor who had cracked 1,000 yards but look what Peterson did for them. I see DMAC having that same impact for us.
JMHO, PEACE NATION!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Well, we’ll find out how bad this pick is when we play Dorsey twice a year. He’s going to the Chiefs.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Kiffin got his wish, I think that bodes well for his status with Big Al
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dorsey in Red, twice a year for 10 years.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Horrible pick! I am so pissed I cannot even describe it. How can they pass on Ellis, Gholston, and Dorsey for this assclown who plays RB and can’t even break tackles. Glenn Dorsey is going to break this POS in half. The whole offseason strategy of trying to improve right away is asinine. We needed to look toward the future and failed to do it. We don’t have a single DE on this roster who can rush the passer and will be on this team 2 years from now. Awful pick. Might as well just fire Kiffin and punch me in the balls to finish the job. This will be my last post here for awhile. I’m so disgusted, I don’t even want to think about it.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
I hope Dorsey ends up a bust now!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dorsey to the Chefs
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
KC just won the friggin lottery!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
I wanted the trade, but McFadden was the best player on the Board if the deal wasn’t right.
Well played, Dakota.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
J-Russ & D-Mac get ur popcorn ready!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Well the good news is we get to see Glenn Dorsey in the Oakland coliseum. The bad news is he’ll be wearing KC gear.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
NOOOOOOOOOO………..bush, fargas, rhodes, jordan….or kelly & sands? this guy better be AP pt.II. #4 in the NFL rushing the ball, #29/30? stopping it, just does not make any sense.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Dorsey against Gallery. Hmmm
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
See that’s what happens when you don’t take dorsey. We’ll have to play against him twice a year
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Chiefs Defense just got 10 times better.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Dorsey on the Chiefs, crap, lets hope his stress fractures shorten his career
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
DMC, Welcome to the USC Raiders of Oakland
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
yep to to that GHOLSTEN will be a bust
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
We’ll regret Dorsey for a long long time. Congrats Chiefs. You got a stud.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Nooooo
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
this pick was a slap to kiffin in the face
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Al Davis is an IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!
Man someone should take care of him…..if you know what I mean.
Lane Kiffin should be our GM.
BYE BYE WINNING until he is gone.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
I just can’t wait to see him running against the Donks sh!tty offense on Sept. 8th.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Welcome to the Nation: Darren McFadden.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
TT…
you were right, none of your eggs gets broken!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
DMac will have a much better career than Adrian Peterson
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Dorsey is gonna eat McFadden for lunch.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
So now we face Dorsey for the next dozen years. Hope they trade McFadden to the Jets for Gholston plus picks
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
McFadden had his best games against Dorsey and his fellow tigers.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
All of that talk about trade and do far none.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
thanks PETE
April 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
LMN welcomes McFadden
April 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
i don’t want to hear “i was right”, i want to hear “THANK YOU GOD(if you believe in that stuff…..or not) FOR GIVING US THE BEST PLAYER IN THE DRAFT WITH THE 4TH PICK!!!”
April 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
This is a great pick, if we want to protect J-ROC this is the best guy to do it. 2008 is Our Year!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Ding Ding…I think we got us a winner…He WILL take pressure of of JaMarcus……
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
I can’t wait to hear Kiffin. I think Kiffin says, “We made a pick of need. We need a home run hitter and we got that in DMAC.”
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Poor Dorsey.
Got ran all over by McFadden at Arkansas the last 2 seasons (almost 400 yds.)….. now it´s gonna be twice a year.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Kiffin is going to utilize DMac correctly unlike how Bush has been used in New Orleans.
Just watch, he’s going to instantly create FEAR on our offense by his receiving skills. Bush didn’t have many receptions in college either, but could do it.
I absolutely love the pick. We took the best available player after C Long was picked.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
The J-Russ, D-Mac era has begun!! Long LIVE the fighters!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
My only question is now what about MICHAEL BUSH???? knee must not be that good
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
“I’ll check back later after Lane Kiffin’s press conference, at which point it should be known whether the Raiders are entertaining the possibility of dealing McFadden to what could be one of several suitors . . .”
When is Lane’s press conference?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
10-6 if we can now grab Red Bryant or Okam.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Kiffin is gonna be gushing about DMC at the press conference, now that the need for a smokescreen is over he will tell us how he really feels
April 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Jets sure are taking a long time, could a trade be in the works?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
You can’t say this is NOT a great pick. Marcus version 2.1 will help the offense and Jam’s development immensely!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Dakota -
Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Wow, TrevJo. How do you really feel?
Frankly, I think it’s been far too long since we had a guaranteed STUD running back.
Ryan would have screwed up Dorsey somehow anyway.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
“Raiderkoolaid Says:
April 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
All of that talk about trade and do far none.”
Expect trades later in the first round. Or at least after the first 5 picks. I expected the 1st five in some kind of order. But we will see, huh?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Ghoston (Jets) against Jake Long (Miami). I think Jake isn’t too happy about that.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Trade DMC for an In and Out double double!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Well, it’s clear now that what Kiffen was telling us in the press conference the other day was that we should all blame Al for picking McFadden, not him. McF will be a great RB, but it won’t help us if we can’t stop anybody from running the ball down our throats.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
D@mn you TT, you were right! I support D-Mac (He can no longer be called McToothpicks, he’s one of us). I’M ALWAYS IN!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Darren McFadden vs Glenn Dorsey
2006–21 for 186 and 2 TD´s.
2007–32 for 206 and 3 TD´s.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Ryan.. That scares the crap outta me. forgot bout that one. Dorsey will kill Gallery.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
JESUS!!!!!!!!!! yeah…let’s just put all of our eggs in one basket, not trade down, not address the run by picking Dorsey and take a guy who we don’t need at all and has no moves at all and can’t break arm tackles.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Cable better teach the OL how to block or Russel will get killed when we play KC.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
6 guys in the green room. 6 picks later, 0 guys on the green room. I wonder when the last time that happened was.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Watching Jet fan get bent is one of the highlights of the draft!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Aww, come on y’all…you know darn well that Al “Addicted to Speed” Davis is not gonna trade Darren McFadden anywhere. Michael Bush maybe. Dominic Rhodes maybe. Even Justin Fargas maybe. But you know how Al Davis twitches uncontrollably at the thought of having players with speed.
Merely mention the word “speed” in his presence and his glands start to secrete.
The only real question now is whether McFadden will or will not be given 32 as a uniform number.
G.
“Pillaging just for fun”
April 26th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Dorsey will have alot to prove twice a year. Way to go Al.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I hope I’m wrong and please, if I am, make me eat my words, but picking DMac was a terrible idea. He’s lazy after contact and personally, he’s prone to making terrible decisions and his behavior to date labels him as a douche.
I hope this works out, but I just don’t understand letting dorsey go by when RB was NOT a position that needed addressing.
Needless to say, I won’t be buying a DMac jersey this year…GO THE CRASH TEST DUMMY!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I smell a trade with the Jets
April 26th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Quit crying about the run. Dorsey didn’t fit with our current line. We will sign Grady Jackson and a LB, draft Okam or Bryant, and with Wilson and Hall making tackles that Stu and Washington could not, we are going to be just fine against the run.
This was the best move for Oakland.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Al Davis is crazy
April 26th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
We should have known that Al was never going to resist explosive offense. The great Raider teams were always great offense and average defense-let’s hope we reach that.
GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Mayock really bagged on McFadden. I was looking for some high lights, not low lights of the guy the Raiders just drafted.
I am going to be pissed if the Patsies pick Keith Rivers!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Mike Bush and D-McFadden in the same backfield? I call that thunder and lighting baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
If Al trades Fargas for some good picks then I’ll call it a good pick…otherwise it’s a bad move.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Ryan -
they just mentioned the very same thing you said in post #87. Nice work.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
When the Raiders go to Miami, who is Jake Long going to block?
When the Raiders play the Jets, who is going to block Gholston?
When the Raiders play the Chiefs, Gallery and who is going to block Dorsey?
Not worried about Matt Ryan, he is going to be passing the ball alot to Hall.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Dakota and Tommy T
Congrats guys, you took a lot of heat and held your ground, Merry Christmas, and I hope your right about him.
I still see our defense having difficulty stopping the run, maybe next year we get the DT.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Dorsey will be a bust, Vernon sucks
Go McDaddy!! run mofo run
Im in
In Al we trust
April 26th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Kiffin will say we needed defense, but you can’t pass up on a guy like McFadden.
How did he say it the other day…”He becomes a player of need.”
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
If the Cheatriots get Rivers, Im done watching this sh#tty draft
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
the pats will likely take a USC guy or trade down
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
the heat won’t be over until darren turns into the walter payton that TT claims he is
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
if we don’t trade with Cincy….it may not happen
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Dakota, put the crack pipe back in DMC’s mom’s hand and step away. Unless DMC was taken as future trade bait later in this draft it was a GARBAGE PICK.
You would think that as 1 of 12 kids he would be able to make better decisions. If we do get stuck with him, I hope someone takes him under their wing and keeps him out of trouble.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Everyone look at Bob Marley’s post about Run DMC’s numbers against LSU.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
94 - what are you talking about? don’t you remember the 11 angry men?
-WR
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm

Excellent analysis, Dakota. I totally agree. And others need to remember that we are in 3 year rebuild, regardless.
Did I like Dorsey? Yes! Did I think Big Al would draft him? Nope.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
everyone should keep in mind that it is still very early, and I doubt that the Raiders are done for the day. I feel a trade announcement coming very soon.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
i still think mcdaddy will either be traded or most likely end up in jail in a couple of years with mike vick
April 26th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Can we get a 2nd for Fabian?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
We now have 5 backs with how many millions invested and the worst defense in the league against the run.
Hope that 70 yard TD by McFadden helps you guys feel better when we lose 24-10.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
You have to remember if we can get just barely above average push from out D line and by stopping the run just above average stats we are going to be a force to deal with.
NO one wants to pass on us now. Routte has become the nickel back and will combine very well with Hall, Nnamdi, Wilson, & Huff.
Our offense is what will take us to the next level. DMac is one of the last pieces of the puzzle.
We have a lot of money tied up in Hall, Kelly, Wilson, Nnamdi, and will soon have to pay for Morrison & Howard. The D can’t be studs across the board.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
some of you guys sound like losers. so what if we face dorsey twice a year they have to face DMAC twice a year. fargas isnt a long term answer and bush is just as unproven as darren. jruss and dmac for the next 10 year can dominate.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Dorsey is going to break McFadden in half? Oh yeah, just like he did when LSU played Arkansas this year.
Had his back broke to the tune of 206 yards and 3TDs.
Moron.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
BTW, congrats, TT and Dakota!!! Not my call, but, hey, great pick.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Kiffin has got to be giddy right now.
Ryan is wondering just how in the hell is he going to get to the QB!! Something better happen or Hall and Nnamdi are gonna get eatin up.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Dakota,
What was the bet? 8 games of 30 running plays or more and Maddenraider stays away for good?
Just run the ball, baby!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Saints getting Ellis?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Saints are taking Ellis.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
why dont we trade fargas weak ass..and you guys keep worrying about playing dorsey twice..from my memory DMAC crushed ur weak boy dorsey for over 350 yds this year..
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
saints and patriots, =sedrick ellis
April 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
here’s ellis…..to the saints
April 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
pissed off at pick
April 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Ryan, MR amended it to: “If we draft McFadden I will never come here again.”
I do not anticipate him holding true to that deal, lol.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Saints are taking Rivers, keep him out of the AFC
April 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
i don’t care about being right, it’s not about me, it’s about the fact that we got the best player in the draft
April 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
iriebuff im sorry your too baked to wrap your mind around that concept
April 26th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
I’ve told you guys there’s no value in trading down. Teams are taking guys here in the top 10, not trading down.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Shows you what I know.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Mike
We have been in a rebuilding period since Gruden split. Last I checked that was more then 3 years ago.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Well, I was right about the Saints trading up. Guess the Raiders price was too high and they settled on Ellis instead of Dorsey.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
crap, if Rivers can’t be a Raider, please keep him out of the AFC, this kid is going to be a beast.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
i want the ravens to take clady so denver can’t get him, but it may be mckelvin
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Another running back……….? I thought the biggest problem last year was that they couldn’t stop the run. I think the pick doesn’t fill the most pressing needs of the team.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
thank god Ellis is in the NFC
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Mayock sucks, all he does is bag on the picks
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Wow, the Midget blocked a FG…must have been a very very low kick, lol.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
The only thing that scares me about dorsey being a chief, Gallery + Harris = DEAD JR.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Those of you who dislike D-MAC (or at least us drafting him), exactly what type of trade would satisfy you?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
the jaguars may take rivers
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
perhaps a 3rd for Fabs
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Here goes Rivers.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Very few in this blog actually understand how bad our cap looked at the end of the ‘04 season and how old our players were.
We’ve been forced to undergo a massive rebuilding project and now we are young across the board.
The future is very bright and DMac only makes the future brighter!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Well Im not too mad with Ellis to NO.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
help
April 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
jags get 8th pick
April 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
dude, Mctoothpick as some of you call it cannot break a tackle up the middle. He makes a living playing bouncing outside. You cannot do that at the nfl level. You watch how the nfl networks point out that he goes down on the first hit up the middle. This is another Napolean Kaufman/R bush all over again. To those yapping about Dorsey vs McFadden, he made his living running outside against LSU.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
High five DSM, TT, Glory, Thec etc.
TD RAAAAAAAAIDERS!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
We’d should give DMC Eric Dickerson old number #29. Let’s hope the kid rush for 2000+ yards in 2008 plus taking the Raiders to the next level. I had a feeling the Raiders had a Chris Long jersey number waiting. BEST player available. Good Choice Al!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
the saints will be scary next year, esecially if they get shockey and/or sheppard
April 26th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
STFU Dakota
props to TT though. I was wrong about you.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
bush already has 29
April 26th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
So ,who will be the first team to make the ridiculous head scratching reach?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
we need to trade with Cincy or Dallas….I smell it
get MCD outta here
April 26th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
QB Russell
RB DMac, M Bush, Fargas, Rhodes, Jordan
WR Walker, Carter, Curry
TE Miller
Zone blocking O line
DT Kelly
LB Morrison
LB Howard
CB Hall
CB Nnamdi
SS Wilson
FS Huff
Extremely young team. Is only going to get better with more experience.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
The dream pick for me personally was to trade 4 to 8 and pick up Baltimores Second, take Ellis or Rivers. DMC was not a need. The Raiders don’t have the luxury of taking a Flashy pick when they have so many glaring needs.
IF Kiff can use DMC like Bush when he was with USC, then maybe he keeps his job. RR better pull his head out and get the D up to par or he’s GONE!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
And then watch ESPN show highlights of him running through people and breakin tackles.
He’s a Raider now, so get over it for goodness sakes.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Do you think Al went back to sleep until tomorrow? It’s going to suck to just have one first day pick. The Raiders are going to get picked apart all night for not getting more picks.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
We just got the two highest rated players two years in a row in the NFckingL and you bilches are whining?

We have been in a rebuilding period since Gruden split. Last I checked that was more then 3 years ago.”
I’ll have to respectfully disagree. With the moves that Big Al has made, the last tag I would put on the past few years would be “smart” or “rebuilding”. The first time I felt any type of REAL plan was in place was when the Lane Kiffin era began. And I said it would take three years since we were bereft (pretty good word, huh?) of what really matters first in professional sports- TALENT.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I can’t wait until after June 1st when we cut Jordan. Hopefully Rhodes, Fargas, Washington, and Stu are on the block right now.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
fargus and washington to bengals for chad and 3rd rd pick
April 26th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
mcfadden will almost certainly wear #32, it’s the only logical RB # available and it’s allen’s old #
April 26th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
were tradin
we have to
April 26th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

It was 3 but still….
April 26th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
I DVR’d ESPN, and they were much more kind than Mayock and the NFLN…why? Because Mayock was entrenched against McFadden because he went out on a limb and said Mendenhall was better than McFadden…he is just bitter.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
With Jordon gone, are we really set at RB without DMAC? When Fargas gets hurt 4 games into the season, we get to see DMac on third down and Bush on short yardage. Run, run, run!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Stop crying about a trade.
McFadden is an Al Davis prototype, he is not going anywhere.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
WOW, that didn’t take long. Jackson from USC would have been a much better pick there if they needed a DE.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
fargas, washington, and stu for wimbley; that would be a good trade, possible? probably not
April 26th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
that’s a reach, they should have stayed at #26 and got merling or jackson
April 26th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Bob Marley
way too many people in here spend all of their time patting themselves on their own backs instead of giving others the props that they deserve.
The real Bob Marley would never do such a thing. You should let your actions speak for themselves and your statements stand alone.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Rivers is a BUNGLE
April 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
rivers to CIN was the smart, safe, value pick, and the only logical conclusion barring a trade for them
April 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
rivers to the Bengals
April 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Good call Bob.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Can DMAC return punts/kicks?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Bush isn’t bad. He can take it inside and break tackles, DMC take it outside for the homerun, Fargas a chage of pace RB. Raiders will lead the league in rushing. This will open the field up for Russell who needs time to throw the long ball. Old school offense with weapons thru the air and grass. Look like the 1980 and 1983 SuperBowl offense except we’d have more weapons at RB. Give DMC Allen number #32. Al Davis is gonna make alot of money selling DMC jersey too.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Davis hated Allen, that is why he was shipped out. Why would Al want DMC in his old # unless it was a marketing tool just to get Allen’s name away from that #. Which makes sence.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
He is a great talent, just not what we needed. Interesting that KC immediately countered with a DT. If you look at our history of bad luck drafting defensive lineman vs. our tradition of having bluechip running backs the pick makes more sense.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
tommy trojan hopefully you didnt order those dmac jerseys for your raider image store yet
April 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Get ready for several two back RB sets with DMac and Fargas/M Bush.
This is going to be exciting. Russell is going to look very sharp next season and now have more pressure off of him with DMac running screens and lining up as a WR.
I’ll be completely shocked if we don’t trade up to get into the first or 2nd after the day is over.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Derrick Harvey is going to be fantastic. good choice for them.
The thing with the Dmac choice is it puts pressure clearly on the shoulders of Lane Kiffin. Al has given him some tools, he has to do something with these guys. My bet is he will.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
there is a lot of value for the bust that will be DMAC not hatin just callin em like I see em…we need to trade and upgrade our O line…get picks
April 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
aussie, he can but is a good but not great KR, he’s too valuable to risk on those plays, he can get 1, maybe two TDs returning/year, but is inconsistent, and it is on KRs that he usually fumbles, he almost NEVER fumbles when getting handed the ball
April 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
TD RAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEERRRRRRSSSSSSSS
April 26th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Ohioraider, let it go. We didn’t draft McFadden just to trade him. They would have announced it already.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Pats take who now? Mayo?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
The first I’d seen Dmac was his highlight film today. He looks great. I like it. With that cut scheme, he should be great. And JaMarcus has got to keep him out of trouble in Oakland.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Rivers to the new England Idiots. Great.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
I would rather have the pressure on Lane to perform, than Rob Ryan. I like the pick
April 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
harvey is a good player, but a better fit as a 3-4 OLB, jackson or merling would have been better picks, and they could have saved their picks, but hey, they got the pass rusher they’ve needed for years
April 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Cromartie to NE.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Right on KoolKell.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Trade DMC to Cincy for Rivers and their WR Johnson……ok, now I’m on crack.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
steve, if you want to talk about top 10 busts…..look at…..Ryan, Dorsey, and Harvey…..those are your most likely bust candidates, ironically, those 3 were all rumored to be favorites of the chiefs……and we all know how well they draft……..
April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
You gotta love the pick. Now while I said Dline, Dline Dline, this pick instantaneously makes Jam a better QB. That’s a very good thing.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
much better Bob
April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
i figure that we have until the cowboys pick to trade him to them
April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

April 26th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Pats draft Cromartie
April 26th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
KK, he’s bring his sister, supposedly his most mature family member, to Oakland with him to prevent the negative influences from intruding in his affairs
April 26th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
mcfadden has bust written all over him too, hopefully not but he can be thrown in that group
April 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
So you guys want to trade the best offensive player in the draft for a couple of maybe starters at 22 and 28??? Good move.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
mckelvin or albert to NE
April 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Rhodes can return kicks. I like to see DMC get carries getting his 2000+ yards his rookie season. This take alot of pressure off Bush who is recovering from leg injury. Fargas is a good 3rd RB anyways. Jordan probaly is the odd man out.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Can we get a GM already? New director of Player Personnel? new head of scouting?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
If #22 and #28 are LoJack and Baker then I would be OK with that
April 26th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
wow. NE reach.

LOL. Won’t happen. But Mike Brown of the BUNGLES IS an IDIOT. The Washington NFL franchise offers you the potential for TWO 1st round picks for a 30 year-old WR and you say no? STUPID.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Dang, I should be a GM.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
wow, mayo? it’s a good fit but i see it as somewhat of a reach, he’ll likely still be a superstar in the middle of that defense
April 26th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Sorry You’re right, about NE and Rivers. Meant cinncy.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Update from the draft.
The jets fans went nuts when we took D- mac.We couldnt lose with Dorsey either.
I have been to the draft 7 times and it gets better and wilder every year Back to the Draft later…..
April 26th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I wouldn’t worry too much about Dorsey with the Chiefs- he’ll be a good player for the Chiefs, but just check out how badly RunDMC ripped LSU each time they played.
Dorsey is tough in the middle, but not fast enough to disrupt our ZBS. He will provide a tough pass rush up the middle and make the short yardage up the gut runs more difficult though…
April 26th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Mayo and Rivers were 1A and 1B as far as LB talent.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
new post Kiffin talked
April 26th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
welcome mcfadden, we should be number one in rushing this season. lets hope the players we have now can help stop the run. I am not worried about dorsey, gallery-wade-carlisle will chop dorsey leg till it falls off. not only that but denver will help with the chopping aswell.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
DMC 4.33 40’s gonna blow alot DBs away! Homerun hitter RB all the way. Gotta give this kid more touches thru screens and swing passes, plus dump offs. Raiders answer to Bolts LT weapon.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
carl nicks..we should draft him
April 26th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
perhaps Millan will make a deal for Mc Skinny we need to protect JR we can run as it is….GET PICKS
April 26th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
I don’t think they will trade DMC, in fact I would be shocked. I don’t agree with the pick and never will. But it is what it is. He’s a Raider so be it.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
We now have Bush - 6′2 245 and McFadden - 6′2 215
April 26th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Bills got lucky that McKelvin dropped to them, good pick for them.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Dorsey could demand a double team. That is what makes him so valuable. I say DMC blast his LSU team in games. Do you see another LSU lineman listed on anyones draft list for top talent? no. they sucked. That is why DMC torched LSU, not because Dorsey didn’t get the job done.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
231 is correct, Dorsey singlehandedly anchored LSUs defense. And he was hurt the game against ARK.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Denver gets Clady shit
April 26th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
IF we are not the # 1 Rushing team in the league someone in Alemeda is going to jump out of a window! The D should be top 15 this year as well. 10-6 or we have yet another coaching carosel in the bay.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Oakglenn -
way to man up! Others could learn something from you.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Clady doesn’t scare me. They still have a crap QB and shanarat as a coach.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
November 23, 2007 - McFadden v. Dorsey
Arkansas 50 LSU 48 in triple overtime.
McFadden: 206 yards on 32 carries, 3 TD. 3/6 passing for 34 yds, 1 TD.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Dorsey is overrated.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Look…..it RUN DMC ends up as a Raider….I will glady take him into the fold….but I think we are good to go with the run…as is. Bush will be a stud. We need to get some O line help and more picks…trade him
April 26th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Im telling you, Clady is gonna be a huge disappointment in Denver. Good for run blocking, but have you seen this guy pass block?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
DMAC - obviously an AD pick. Not my favorite but I’ll support him. Hopefully he learns how to run through a tackle. The film I’ve seen on him shows him going down with minimal arm tackles. Mayock says he has dead legs - no lower body strength. All we can do is hope. I’m kinda bummed over this pick.
Now, let’s see some trades for Washington, Rhodes, Joe & possibly Walter. WE NEED MORE PICKS TO FIX WHAT AILS US!
We still need an LOT, DT, DE, LB, WR
April 26th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Now… if only the Raiders could get Chad Johnson in a trade. We’d could light up the score board a bit more with red zone points.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Mayock is a douche.
Thanks for raining on my parade.
You’re TOP 100 is a joke, and you just caused alot peeps to roll over to BSPN to get Draft coverage.
Berman over Mayock for the win!
April 26th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I would have taken Dorsey, but I hope McFadden turns out great. He is still very young, so he should get better. I look forward to us playing Denver in September. We should kick their *ss.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
AL; NOW THAT WE HAVE HIM, please tell me that HE’S TRADE BAIT!!! we just don’t have the luxury. no thunder and lightning without a line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Run DMC is a great pick, and here is why-
Just like Pittsburgh with Rothlsberger and Jacksonville with Gerrard, a STRONG running game will help our young quarterback immensely by taking the pressure of throwing the football 30+ times off his shoulders. He can grow into throwing the rock by letting the ground game work for him in his first few years. Plus with M. Bush (Who will see light this year), we have 2 young stud RB’s to work with. We have horses on offense and WE CAN CONTROL THE BALLGAME WITH THE RUN NOW!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Well i said i would support al and kiff so welcome aboard RUNDMC……
April 26th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
DUMB DUMB DUMB. Take DORSEY, you WITHERED DECREPIT HASBEEN.
April 26th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
You know this team has not had a bluechip running back in I don’t know how long. Even when Kiffen finally started to use the sb mva back at the end of the season (when it didn’t matter) he did an adequate job but couldn’t carry this team. Fargus did really well but none of our rivals were game planning around Fargus. Lame Jordon didn’t scare anybody. We have had “average” at best backs for so many years. When is the last time we had a Franchise back (not including has beens). For an offense to work the foundation must be set on a running game. The RG precipitates the passing game. in order to go all the way your fundamental components must be a Franchise QB and and a Franchise RB. If DMc turns out to be anything close to Bo, then you better get your season tickets early. You know what Cable has done with garbage o-line, anchored by Sims and Gallery. Turned vomit into chicken pot pie. And you know he is involved in shoring up that line with people that can play his game. look for a vastly improved line this year. Giving DMC lanes to run thru - watch out. Knee damaged Fargus will become a fadded memory. Jamarcus will have holes down field when the secondary cheats up for run support. The bottom line. The RAIDER MADE THE RIGHT PICK. It was a no brainer.
April 26th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
as far as im concerned this was a horrible pick. when you have a hole as big as rosie’s butt at defensive tackle and glenn dorsey is sitting there, you cant pass that up. completly horrible.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
RUN DMC ran for 208 yards against Dorsey, hows them apples
April 26th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
To all you D-Mac haters don’t cheer when he runs all over Dorsey and Howie’s boy whne they play. The same guys talking now will be all in D-Macs jock strap on Sundays.
He was the best pick in the draft. We watched Lamont Jordan disgrace the #34 jersey for two or three years now asnd you are crying?
April 26th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
we’re stacked now kids.. silver and black is back.. ya’ll are whining cause are D is bad??? we just could never hold on to the ball.. of course we’re gonna have bad yards per game against when the other team always has the ball…
