Pressure mounts on Kelly, Sands

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 6:25 pm in Oakland Raiders.

If Darren McFadden becomes a supercharged Charlie Garner and lays waste to the AFC West as a rookie, few people will give a thought to bypassing LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey.

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin was gushing about McFadden and seemed sincere enough. His reasoning for not being overly concerned with Dorsey was sound. Dorsey is a three-technique tackle and the Raiders have already committed $18.125 in guaranteed money to Tommy Kelly to play that position.

It all comes back to the first big postseason move the Raiders made _ investing a sum of money in Kelly which seemed out of line with his body of work.

For all the attention heaped upon the draft, McFadden will have less of an impact than how the Raiders fare in 2008 than the combined efforts of Kelly and Terdell Sands, who the Raiders signed following the 2007 season in the same way they locked up Kelly.

If Oakland doesn’t stop the run, and Dorsey excels in the same division as a member of the Chiefs, the grumbling about Oakland’s soft middle will drown out the excitement generated by McFadden.

More Day 1 notes and observations:

– Raiders Day 1 grade? Check back in a few years.

Might want to see McFadden line up and play a few downs first.

– From everything I’ve read, the so-called “character” issues regarding McFadden really aren’t major issues at all. Check out a Sports Illustrated profile by Jim Trotter which details McFadden’s transgressions and then balances them against a difficult background.

McFadden has 11 brothers and sisters and his mother is a recovering crack addict. One brother is a Crip, another a Blood, and a third is in prison on a drug-related offense.

Yet Lt. Terry Hastings of the Little Rock Police Department told Trotter, “Darren McFadden is a role model for the youth of Little Rock” and the writer was hard-pressed to find anyone who knew McFadden that had anything bad to say about him.

It doesn’t mean family baggage isn’t a concern, but the fact is McFadden has done well to get this far.

Compared to Sebastian Janikowski in 2000, McFadden is a choirboy.

McFadden will probably succeed or fail based on his ability, not his character. If he goes down too easily, struggles like Reggie Bush has the last two years or litters the ground with fumbles, it will cause more pain among Raider Nation than a couple of altercations outside a nightclub.

– Raiders P.R. director Mike Taylor entered the media room early in the second round to announce the Raiders had made a pick.

“We took DeAngelo Hall,” Taylor said. Oakland’s second-round pick went to Atlanta, along with a fifth-round pick next season.

Their third-round pick Sunday will be Mario Henderson, a pick which now belongs to New England by virtue of a trade last season which enabled Oakland to select the Florida State tackle.

– Kiffin said the Raiders weren’t looking to get more picks unless a player came up they were interested in. Still, I have this image of Al Davis having his phone crew calling every seven minutes in the second round asking, “How about Fabian Washington? We’ll throw in LaMont Jordan and Paul McQuistan . . . ”

– Nice day for one of Kiffin’s recruiting classes at USC. Defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis went No. 7 overall to New Orleans, linebacker Keith Rivers No. 9 to Cincinnati, tackle Sam Baker No. 21 to Atlanta and defensive end Lawrence Jackson No. 28 to Seattle. In the second round, guard Chilo Raschal was taken by the 49ers at No. 39, tight end Fred Davis went to Washington at No. 48 and cornerback Terrell Thomas to the New York Giants at No. 63.

– No receivers went in the first round for the first time since 1990. The first wideout taken was Houston’s Donnie Avery, a sprinter whom the Raiders had their eye on.

– The last time the Raiders had just one pick in the first two rounds was 1997, when they took Darrell Russell with the second overall selection and didn’t pick again until taking Adam Treu in the third.

– The Redskins were apparently concerned about their receiving corps. With the No. 36 pick which originally belonged to the Raiders (Oakland traded it to Atlanta in the DeAngelo Hall deal, with the Falcons dealing it to the Redskins), Washington took Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas. They grabbed Davis at No. 48 and then added Oklahoma’s Malcolm Kelly at No. 51.

– It was a long day for Cal wideout DeSean Jackson, projected as a potential first-round pick only to last until the second round with the 49th pick overall. That’s only 29 picks after I had him going to Tampa Bay.

– Of the last five No. 4 overall picks, two have been less than stellar. Texas running back Cedric Benson (Chicago Bears, 2002) has been an unimpressive plodder, and Kentucky defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson (New York Jets, 2003) was recently dealt to Denver for a fifth-round pick.

On the other hand, Florida defensive end Gaines Adams (Tampa Bay, 2007), Virginia tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson (Jets, 2006) and North Carolina State quarterback Philip Rivers (Giants, 2004, and traded to Chargers) have so far justified their selections.

– I warned you about my ability to forecast the draft. My first-round mock tally _ three players who went where I said they would _ Jake Long to the Dolphins at No. 1, Ryan Clady to Denver at No. 12 and Felix Jones to Dallas at No. 22.

Yes, I’m not too proud to take the Jake Long freebie.

I also had Virginia guard Brendan Albert going to the Kansas City Chiefs. Problem is, I had him at No. 5, and the Chiefs actually got him at No. 15.

– When the 49ers selected North Carolina defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer with the 29th pick in the first round, Merc columnist Tim Kawakami said, “Glad we’re not writing that one.”

    yep yep

  3. fanatic Says:

Stopping the run last year sucked because Sapp was to light/old, Kelly was injured, and Sands was out of shape at the start of training camp. Kiffen can’t control injuries this year but he better make sure Sands is ready this time.

  4. frozen Says:

Kelly better step up if we passed on Dorsey for him. Pressure’s on him for sure. I’m still hoping to replace Sands tomorrow.

  5. coinman Says:

ok, guys. you got what you wanted, and i did not (offensive line, trade down). i’ll support mcf wholeheartedly, because he is a raider. i hope to say later that you were right and i was wrong. go raiders………

    Well said Arrrgghhh:

the real way to look at our draft is:

    rd 1 - McFadden
rd 2 - D.Hall, 24 years old with multiple pro bowls already (all these CBs being drafted are 22)
rd 3 - M.Henderson, but with the benefit of getting him a year early, learning the system, working with Cable (everybody clamors for a OT but forgets we drafted on last year)
    rd 4 - we’ll see tomorrow
rd 5 - G.Warren, who I guarantee will give more production that any DT we could draft in rd 5.
    rd 6 - we’ll see
    rd 7 - we’ll see

So this is what I would consider a phenomenal draft.”

  7. Oakglenn Says:

Dmacs character “issues” are non existent. He is a fine young man. While I make no bones about wanting to shore up the defensive line, this is a fantastic pick. He makes us the best running team in the AFC West just by signing his name. The competition at HB is going to make ALL the RB’s better. He makes Jam better, he makes Kiff better, and if we can convert a few fourth downs that we didn’t convert last year, he will make the defense better.

  8. Oakglenn Says:

    Nice draft Arghhhhhhh!!

  9. frozen Says:

OG-well, if Kiffin can refrain from calling runs to the outside on 4th and 1 we should be OK.

  10. Dan Says:

Pirate - I think we need 5 cbs, but all non-starters should be playing special teams. Either Routt or Washington will be dime back. And they’re paid way too much for that role. Based on late last year, Routt might have a bad attitude and have to go as well (recall how poorly he handled criticism last year).
Fabes needs to go and we will take the cap hit. Bums me out because two years ago, I thought he would be a star. I also thought he would break out last year. Now he’s at best an overpriced back up. At worst a cancer, or an outright cut.
Dakota - I agree with your RB assessment. Seems pretty unfortunate that we’re paying Fargas a bunch of money to be third string.
For both RB and CB, we have too many high priced players on the roster.
Having said all that - glad to see we have DMac given we think Kelly is better than Dorsey…

  11. Oakglenn Says:

The thing Frozen is if you can possibly throw an option with either Mike Bush or Dmac, that’s going to stop the safeties and corners coming up in support which means we might be able to slam a back in there for short yardage or throw an option to make the big play. That’s what I mean about him making Kiffin better

  12. RaiderDell Says:

    Frozen

Now we can run on 4th and 1 to the outside, just was getting practice for are OL last year, for DMAC.

  13. frozen Says:

Yeah, I’d like to see some of that. I like the idea of D-Mac lining up as a receiver, too.

  14. La Milicia Negra Says:

Michael Bush throws the ball very nice for 20yds, we have to consider that too =)

  15. CJ Legend #34 Says:

We should seriously look at Arrington from MI if Manningham is not there. He looked good. At times better than Maningham in games.

  16. RaiderDell Says:

I am wondering anybody surprised by the order the QB’S were taken, Flacco, Henne, Brohm of course after Ryan was selected third by Atlanta.

  17. frozen Says:

4th and 1 Jamarcus steamrolls the entire D line for a gain of 2!

  18. La Milicia Negra Says:

he is tall enough to just bend over the line =)

  19. frozen Says:

    Whatever works.

  20. La Milicia Negra Says:

    RaiderDell…

    yeah… I thought Ryan, Brohm, Henne/Flacco

  21. La Milicia Negra Says:

when will the 3rd round be over ( bay area time) ??

  22. frozen Says:

I hope McCown beats out Henne. I want to see him test our secondary.

  23. La Milicia Negra Says:

    RaiderDell….

well thats not the order of who I think will be best..

thats, Henne, Flacco, Brohm and Ryan =)

  24. RaiderDell Says:

    OakGlenn

I don’t want to say I told you so, but I told you a few days back the Falcons were going to take Ryan, and you delightfully told me no way.

The draft has many surprises, I am a firm believer the pick for Ryan was to end the Vick story in Atlanta.

I got stoned, no trade down, and no Ellis, oh well it was I still believe the best move.

When I’m at McAfee and we can’t stop the run, yikes, the blog will be active.

  25. jjvill Says:

The Raiders (both Al & Kif) seemed to think DMac was the best player in the draft and grabbed him. I have absolutely no problem with that philosophy. Yes D-line might have been more of a need, but if you think DMac is just a much better NFL prospect then Dorsey you cannot pass on the guy.

I hope we can get a sleeper DE/DT with the next pick. Shawn Crable from UMich could be great pass rushing DE if he bulks up a bit. He was a beast his Senior year and is a physical freak.

  26. frozen Says:

There’s still hope for tomorrow, Dell. Kiffin said he didn’t want Dorsey because he wasn’t a nose tackle. That sounds to me like he’s looking for one still.

  27. DSM Raider Says:

LMN: I’ve actually thought about having M Bush, DMac, and Russell in the backfield with each having the ability to pass.

  28. RaiderDell Says:

    Frozen

It was brutal watching washed up running backs rack up yards on us last year, it was sickening, backs like Benson from Chicago, Grant from GB, that washed up back from Texas, I can’t even recall his name, the back from KC who was replacing Johnson etc..

Let’s hope Kelly and Sands become rejuvenated and just hold the gaps.

  29. La Milicia Negra Says:

    RaiderDell…

I was a strong believer that it would be foolish of Atlanta to take Ryan, if they took McFadden in the 1st + Devin Thomas with their first 2nd + Curtis Lofton with their second 2nd + Fred Davis all with picks they had before noon, then that would look a lot better than what they got IMHO…

    McFadden, Darren
    Thomas, Devin
    Lofton, Curtis
    Davis, Fred

    against

    Ryan, Matt
    Baker, Sam

  30. saintkaufman Says:

    Doomed I tells you, DOOMED!!

  31. La Milicia Negra Says:

    DSM…

we got to try it. both backs in the backfield, Jammy fakes to McF and he runs 13yds down, meanwhile Jammy gives the ball to Bush, who throws it to McF - instant TC 90 YDS total =)

  32. frozen Says:

Nose tackle, middle line backer, left tackle. All on the menu tomorrow. Hopefully.

  33. RaiderDell Says:

    Saint

    Yeah Doomed!!!

  34. Oakglenn Says:

Funny thing Dell is I have some friends that know the Atl organization pretty well, and they told me they didn’t think Ryan was on the screen. Art Blank is pretty involved over there and maybe Blank came in at the end and said, for the sake of the franchise he wanted to turn the page. I actually had kind of a bad day, a lot of guys I thought would go one way, went another. The three guys that really followed my logic were Bill Parcells, Scott Pioli in New England and Andy Reid. But what do those guys know???

  35. frozen Says:

    Doomed!?!?!? Again!?!?!?!

  36. La Milicia Negra Says:

    whooops…

    gotta be fair =)

    McFadden, Darren
    Thomas, Devin
    Lofton, Curtis
    Davis, Fred

    against

    Ryan, Matt
    Baker, Sam
    Lofton, Curtis

But still I think Ryan will be another qb-ryan bust so to speak

  37. DoeDoe Says:

I know Kif is lickin his chops on how he is going to use D-Mac - The good part is since we are so deep @ the RB position we can ease his way in - 15 touches on handoffs and a decoy in the slot with Fargas and Bush taking the punishment inside will prolong D-Macs career so he can actually have a nice long career which is rare when it comes to this position - J-Mak must be happy about this - My crystal ball tells me that we will be 1 or 2 in the league in rushing next year as a whole - and are passing attack will be between 10 to 15 in the league granted Javon Walker and Drew Carter stay healty - Prepared to see Kif let Jamarcus cannon loose as Javon Walker and Drew Carter are speedy recievers that get down field in a hurry - (And I haven’t even brought up my boy Zach Miller opening things up in the middle!) It has been a handful of years since we had an offense that is dominate - I hope the Nation is ready cuz I sure am - I see are offense puting pressure on the opposings team offense to air it out more against the best 2ndary in the league hands down - the first 5 games are crucial - If we go into San Diego @ 4-0 than we will have a lot of confidence to grab another W and than head to the Bye @ 5-0 which will be huge for the 2nd part of our schedule - I still got a couple of worries about are pass protection which I hope with another year under Cable’s system will improve drastically - My biggest concern is Kwame Harris @ LT - If Cable turns him about to be above average and able to hold his own than I see the Raiders making some serious noise this year granted we stay healty - sorry for blabb blabb blabbin to much so - ill end it like Greg Papa would

    TouchDown RRRRRAAAAAIIIIIDDDDEEEEEEERRRRRSSSSSSS!!!!!

  38. DoeDoe Says:

ESPN asked D-Mac what does he want to prove his rookie season - He said to show the Nation that his skinny legs can carry a NFL team and he wont fumble…

(D-Mac must have been reading this blog!)

  39. RaiderDell Says:

    OakGlenn

Thanks for the response, I just thought to bring that chapter to a end , with Vick getting out of jail next year, the Organization would of been locked into taking him back and fans optimisim would have been high.

Now they can say we have our franchise QB and bring him along slowly.

You are a smart guy, Glenn, PR is real important in Atlanta and the organization knows it , so the pick to me seemed like a no brainer.

  40. jjvill Says:

    QB - JaMarcus
    RB - DMac, Fargas, Bush
WR - JWalk, Curry, Carter, Higgins
    TE - Miller
    LT - Harris/Henderson
    LG - Gallary
    C - Wade/Grove
    RG - Coop
    RT - McQuistan/Green

    DE - Burgess
    NT - Sands, Joseph
    DT - Kelly, Warren
    DE - Richardson, Edwards
    SLB - Williams
    MLB - KMo
    WLB - THo
    CB - Nnamdi, Routte
    CB - Hall, Fabe
    SS - Wilson, Cooper
    FS - Huff, Stu

The weakness I see right now is really at DE/NT…I know Sands had a rough emotional year (Mom passed) so maybe he bounces back, but we can’t depend on him alone. Maybe we sign Grady? An SLB and another OL is another area.

  42. Mistabrown Says:

I watched those DMAC highlights after he was selected and holy cow he runs with some power and speed, was that a safety he busted through for a long gain? I dont where all the McSkinny stuff came from but this guy looks like a SPECIAL football player.

    Im in.

  43. DSM Raider Says:

“Kiffin said McFadden complements Fargas and Rhodes well and can be used in a two-back set with either back, out wide as a receiver or at tailback.

While McFadden has some similarities with Reggie Bush in terms of his versatility, he is a more accomplished inside runner and might be better suited to the rigors of the NFL.”

    We’ll see.

  45. RaiderDell Says:

    Brown

You should see me rush up to the bar for a drink, I’m unstopable with power and speed.

  46. saintkaufman Says:

Well, day 1 of the ‘08 draft is done so lets take a look.

Well, we added speed to the RB position, and, uh, what, and, well…I guess that’s about it! :(

  47. Mistabrown Says:

Dell I too been saying all along Atl had to pick Ryan after the Vick debacle but if they didnt pick him it would have been Dorsey most likely so we were going DAMC all the way.

    DMAC & BUSH!!!!!

    I like this pic!

  48. saintkaufman Says:

    #45

    LOL!!!!

  49. Oakglenn Says:

Dell, what I heard was they were going to take Dorsey high, then get another QB later in the draft, most likely Brohm in the 2nd round. But I think you are exactly right that Blank came in and said, if we take this guy Ryan high, we market him as a high pick, meaning a 2nd rounder wouldn’t have quite the marketing value. I’ll bet Dimitroff wanted Dorsey. And people here think we’re the only franchise that the owner meddles.

  50. Mistabrown Says:

Dell, put some hot wings next to the drink and you’ll be eatin my dust!
    :)

  51. RaiderDell Says:

    Brown

Sometimes PR for a organization is more important than the real team need.

Ryan was selected for that Vick chapter to end.

  52. Tommy Trojan Says:

the only available #s for McFadden are 32, 38, 39, 41, 43, 44, 45, 48, 49; since he’ll be pushed to settle on his # quickly, likely before anyone significant is cut, my money’s on #32

  53. Mistabrown Says:

Hey Oak lets hope your boy Rob Ryan doesn’t piss away this years talent!!

  54. Dakota Says:

Saint…nice of you to chime in, lol. Where are your partners in crime, Terp and Huff???

  55. Oakglenn Says:

Dell, The other point I made, I don’t know if you read this, but who was Mike Vicks best friend on Atlanta??? DeAngelo. So, if it all works out, could we be seeing Vick come here once he gets out??? More likely than not.

  56. Tommy Trojan Says:

the remaining group of LBs is LOADED

  57. RaiderDell Says:

    Dakota

Huff24 was traveling to redding to see his brother or friend and said he would be gone.

  58. Oakglenn Says:

What talent??? What did I miss Brown??? Did we end up trading Dmac for Ellis and Lawrence Jackson???

  59. Tommy Trojan Says:

as are the WRs and DEs, especially when it comes to hybrid pass rushers

  60. Kirk Says:

Pirate Argh is right. So far in this draft we have gotten McFadden, D.Hall, Mario Henderson, and Gerald Warren.

Plus we are adding Michael Bush, Jamarcus Russell, G.Wilson, and Javon Walker.

When you look at it that way, we have improved tremendously!

  61. Mistabrown Says:

Yes Dell but he was the highest rated QB so it all falls into place its not like they traded up to get him or passed on other needs. They hit 2 birds with one stone I think. They have a nice pair of RB’s in Norwood and Turner so they should start Redmond or Harrington this year and unleash Ryan in 2009 when they have some O-line.

DMAC is going to look real sweet in S&B slicing through the AFC West!

  62. Oakglenn Says:

TT, #32 sounds good to me.

  63. Dakota Says:

    Dell,

Huff saw McFadden coming and made up that convenient excuse, lol.

  64. Mistabrown Says:

Oak, are you a true meathead or what????
Kelly resigned, Gibril, DHALL, Huff to FS!

    THAT TALENT OAK!!

  65. RaiderDell Says:

    Oak

Vick would be interesting, that cap charge for Atlanta is going to be brutal, when he is reinstated.

Will Davis inquire when he is ready and reinstated, probably.

His story in Atlanta is over.

  66. Tommy Trojan Says:

NOW everyone can’t wait to buy McFadden’s jersey……..I love it……

  70. jjvill Says:

    Harris/Henderson

Yikes is kind of a thought, but right now I’m giving Cable the benefit of the doubt since he turned one of the worst groups ever and made them sort of respectable. Maybe he can turn Harris around and even though Henderson hasn’t shown anything he could still develop into a player.

Another WR (Manningham, Doucet) would also be nice.

  71. CT Says:

    Mista “Doo Doo” Brown:

  75. Oakglenn Says:

Brown I have told you a million million million effing times. 2ndary was not our problem. It doesn’t matter who is in the 2ndary. We could add Ed Reed back there too, but if we get no pass rush, it’s not going to matter. That is football 101. And we were in the bottom five in pass rush. So, who did we add???? What talent???? Let’s see. We signed the same guys we had, there’s no improvement there, we got Joseph from NYG, who was singularly the most vilified guy in the entire NY metropolitan area, AND we added a castoff from a BAD Detroit team. Now, those guys may work out. But they may not. You may have running backs hitting Gabril 8 yards down field like they were shot out of a cannon. You may have QB’s standing there flat footed waiting for guys to uncover. NYG, NE, SD, all have high pix on their Dline. We don’t and neither until earlier today does KC. Those other teams are playoff teams. KC and us were 4-12. KC seemed to learn their lesson and picked Dorsey at 5 overall. They learned, But you still don’t get it.

  85. Raiderkoolaid Says:

Warren is an addequate backup for Kelly at the undertackle possition and he is good to play nose in pass rushing situations, but even if Sands does get it together this year we still need a decent run stuffer to back him up. We also need another pass rushing DE.

  86. Bob Marley Says:

    what?

  87. La Milicia Negra Says:

Okay I was against McFadden at first…

    4590yds
    785 att
    41 TDs
    29 Fumbles

That means for every 20 attempt he scores a TD but for every 27 attempt he fumbles, I dont know if he gets sloppy with the ball as he gets tired… furthermore everytime he gets 112yds he scores 1 TD….

so lets say we only uses him 25 times a game… still impressive

    25att x 5.85avg = 146yds = 1TD

I know this is all statistics and furthermore it’s based on College teams…

But this is a Ferrari we only use on carefully picked sunny days and not an everyday traffic grinder…

in fact i hope we never will use him more than 20 because I don’t want us to get predictable on runs…

    20att x 5.85avg = 117yds = 1TD
    times 16 1872yds and 16TDs

fine with me…. Welcome on board!

    Dan Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 6:39 pm

Pirate - I think we need 5 cbs, but all non-starters should be playing special teams. Either Routt or Washington will be dime back. And they’re paid way too much for that role. Based on late last year, Routt might have a bad attitude and have to go as well (recall how poorly he handled criticism last year).
Fabes needs to go and we will take the cap hit. Bums me out because two years ago, I thought he would be a star. I also thought he would break out last year. Now he’s at best an overpriced back up. At worst a cancer, or an outright cut.
    ______________________

With all respect, I strongly disagree with all of this and think it’s all wrong.

    1. F.Wash or Routt are simply nickel/dime backs. They aren’t just nickel or dime backs, they are back ups to the starters. If you get rid of F.Wash as you wish, then D.Hall tears his ACL — you’ve got Aso, Routt - no nickel, no dime, no backups - except that guy we drafted with the R.Moss pick, though I can’t remember his name right now and don’t have a lot of confidence in him. You’ve really got to have four quality corner.

    2. Paid too much. F.Wash’s bonus has been paid. You get rid of him you simply get dead cap space. His salary this year is $750k. You’re telling me that’s too much, over priced??? that’s basically minimum salary for his experience. His 2009 salary is $1.5 mil. That’s peanuts. Routt’s contract is $520k this year and $540k next year, minimums. So this “overpriced” talk is complete nonsense. If you get rid of one, you have to replace him with someone else and whoever that is will make close to what those two are making now. Those are the facts.

    3. Routt not handling criticism. Sounds petty. I remember something about him not wanting to talk to the media after he had a bad game, or maybe he was defensive. Seriously, who cares (except the media guys who complain and try to paint the player as a bad guy)? Based on that you think he MIGHT have a bad attitude next year and therefore we should get rid of him. I just can’t buy that argument.

    4. He’s a cancer? I’ve seen nothing to support that. I don’t know how you can even suggest that either of those guys is a cancer.

    5. Sounds like you’re disappointed that he/they didn’t “break out” last year. These guys were in their 2nd year last year. Guys need time to develop. The dumbest thing you can do is dump your 1st and 2nd rd picks if they don’t make the pro bowl in their second years. You gotta let them develop. Not all guys develop the same or at the same rate. But both of them are phenomenal athletes, among the best in the league athletically. When you’re a 2nd year pro playing man coverage on the opposite side of an elite CB (Aso), of course your going to get picked on and get burned. That’s football. But it’s experience too. Now there’s much less pressure on them both. I don’t see any evidence that they have anywhere to go but up. Look at Aso. Do you think we should have dumped him after year two or three? Have some patience, let guys learn and develop.

    6. just to add, F.Wash is a favorite of Al Davis. Al traded up into the first round to get him, which considered a reach, because he wanted him so bad. Routt was considered even a bigger reach. Of course D.Hall is better than them both so I understand Al Davis, being the way he is, jumping on D.Hall for only a 2nd rd pick, but I think that’s snatching up opportunity, not an indictment of the CBs he already had.

thanks for reading and good night. I’ll be here all week.

  94. Mistabrown Says:

    #91 great info thanks TT.

  95. Dakota Says:

LMN, most of those fumbles occured on returns and when he was getting direct snaps as QB in that those funky wildhog sets…he rarely fumbled on normal running plays.

  96. Tommy Trojan Says:

for some reason the mods wouldn’t let me post all the available players at once, so i broke it up

  97. frozen Says:

As far as the fumbles go, he said he talked to Rathman about it. The coach said he wasn’t locking his elbow properly, and it’s a fixable problem. I hope we fill some holes tomorrow.

  98. Fred in Dallas Says:

LETS GET TOMMY BLAKE FROM TCU…HE IS A HEAD CASE BUT HE IS A HELL OF A PLAYER.

  99. RaiderDell Says:

Who fits the required size and speed for a DE of that group that we may get in the fourth round.

  100. La Milicia Negra Says:

I’ve tried that too, when I tried to post a long interview

  101. Mistabrown Says:

    CT???

    C’mon man back it up

  102. Tommy Trojan Says:

pirate, what washington could add as a 3rd would be far more valuable than his use as a dime back, we have bowie, waddell, johnson, and starks, all more than capable dimes with bowie and waddell arguably nickle capable, a 3rd is more valuable than what washington gives us over bowie, especially considering how LOADED the 3rd round is

  103. Bob Marley Says:

Wishlist for day 2…by either moving into the 3rd or with our own 4th rounder, ideally we get two out of this group.

    Pat Sims
    Dre Moore
    Frank Okam

    DE/Rusher
    Bruce Davis
    Tommy Blake
    Darrell Robertson
    Chris Ellis

Eeven after these guys there are still plenty of interesting players available, specially at DT.

  104. Tommy Trojan Says:

raider dell, define “required size” and “required spee”; do you mean most balanced?

  105. La Milicia Negra Says:

I still say, dont use McFadden too much, then we will have another priest holmes / larry johnson case on our hands and this time in our camp.

20 attempts per game is 320 a yeah, thats enough! but given Kiffins history I guess he will ballance it out nicely between our 53 runningbacks and still counting…

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    who are the haters?

CT you can shove it in our face and be excited, I thought we were all Raider fans, I’m glad you got your pick, but show some love to us that wanted the Raiders to improve in another area.

Take a cue from Dakota, I think his nenerner is fine, just stop the stupid “hater” crap.

  107. oliverthizz Says:

I will be able to calm down when we get a DT. And the DTs left are not only good, but they are NTs, and big run stuffers

  108. RaiderDell Says:

    TT

I think the Raiders are looking for someone to play both the open end and closed end, or RDE,LDE.

  109. Bob Marley Says:

At DT…..even after the top remaining guys you still have the VT guys, the FSU guys, Marcus Harrison, Athyba Rubin, DeMario Pressley, Keylen Dykes, Nick Hayden, Derek Lokey, Jason Shirley, Maurice Murray….there will be decent DT options all the way down to the 7th round.

  110. Tommy Trojan Says:

Thompson and Ellis are the best available, both with low 4.7 speed at about 6-4 or 6-5 and 265-270, both with 22-25 reps and great explosion, either could have been 2nd round picks, they’re solid against the run and very good rushers

  111. Dakota Says:

    neener.

  112. Oakglenn Says:

McFadden has some really bad habits, he carries the ball into the pursuit instead of switching away from defenders. That’s one of the earliest things you learn as a ball carrier, but these will be correctable with proper coaching at this level. It’s kinda crazy, that he’s never been coached away from doing that, but, whatever, that’s what we got. What’s the expression, “you can’t coach size and speed.”

  113. RaiderDell Says:

    Dakota

You earned it, continue until his first fumble cost us a game.

  114. Oakglenn Says:

Red Bryant I would really like.

  115. jjvill Says:

Marley keep in mind Crable from UM as that rush DE or outside LB in the 3-4. He is a freakish athlete and I watched almost every UM game last year…Crable was always a factor in the backfield, run or pass.

  116. La Milicia Negra Says:

    Oakglenn…

you just wonder why he hasn’t learned it yet!?

  117. Thec Says:

Raider TW, Recap The bet: Draft DMAC or C. Long.
Winner gets:Authentic Jersey with winning player name

TW these are the specs that I will need:
    Authentic Name: McFadden
    Color: Black
    Size: XXXL

  118. Tommy Trojan Says:

Langford is the best run stopping DE, he’s about 6-6 290 with 4.85 speed and great power, both upper and lower body, he’s very similar to kelly, so we may look at a pure pass rusher like Cliff Avril, Bruce Davis, or Shawn Crable all with low-to-high 4.5 speed and INCREDIBLE EXPLOSION at szes ranging from 245-255, and have big builds at 6-3 to 6-5 with room to add bulk

  119. Thec Says:

    Dell you are a hater.

  120. RaiderDell Says:

    Marley

When did you turn into a GM wannabe.

For the record Bob here said we should go after Kwame harris before anybody else.

    And we signed him.

Bob is on fire, let’s go to Vegas.

Bob has had other good thoughts, just holding them back until they flop, or become all pro’s.

  121. RaiderDell Says:

    Thec

Bless you my son, or bra.

  122. Oakglenn Says:

Honestly, LMN, his high school and college coaches probably just let him be. + apparently his mom was a bit overbearing, so he probably didn’t get a lot of stringent instruction. Not that he needs it. All guys will have the flaws in their games worked on at this level.

  123. Dakota Says:

Damn Thec….XXXL? Can we call you Thic instead. Can you play DT?

  124. Oakglenn Says:

Bob’s all that!!! No argument here.

  125. RaiderDell Says:

    Thec

XXXL, wow you are a big dude, or hide booze under it entering the games when the Raiders play the Chargers.

  126. Thec Says:

Dell, you are a hater of DMAC still. Why is he going to cost us a gamewith a fumble. What you want the raiders to draft to suit your wants?

  127. G-raider Says:

I can’t wait til the season starts

  128. G-raider Says:

    when do we pick again>?

  129. Thec Says:

  130. La Milicia Negra Says:

    G-raider…

    number 104, number 4 in the 4th

  131. Bob Marley Says:

    jvill

Yeah, there´s still a lot of quality prospects left and Crabble is another one. Even standing pat, we can get 2 decent prospects at 4th and 6th.

But, we can also decide that someone is worth getting back into the 3rd and with so much quality there, it would be a good move, provided the price is right.

  132. Riverside Raiders Fan Says:

Enough already. Get off the guys back. That idiot Jim Trotter must have repeated the same story a 100 freaking times. Talking about a guys mother, from 6 freaking years ago. The media will beat a dead horse into the ground. The same garbage was repeated in this story. The guy is a good kid, no stupid ass piercing, no tats that I saw. Maybe he has one or two but even at that there not glaring. So lets move on and look at all the positives he’s going to do for us. Read one of Tommy Trojan previous post on all those positive things that he’ll bring to both sides of the game.

The addition of Dmac will only bring out the best of Bush and Fargas. And for Rhodes to make the team, he’ll have to step it up on punt & kickoff returns or he’ll be gone like Jordan. Also if we pitch right to run right with Dmac, he can always throw the 10 to 20 to 30 yard pass down the field when the cornors freeze up or commit them selves to the run. And if they don’t, them they better hope he doesn’t turn the cornor
or we’re looking at 10 yards or more and maybe 6 points.

Same option when we pitch left to Bush, he use to be a quarterback and can pass some.
if the cornors freeze or come up…then it’s bombs away. If they don’t and he turns the cornor…same ending to the story as Dmac. Bush is a left hand throwing passer, so that option is very normal and we’ll surely see it as a play option. Hopefully it will be against the Chargers or the Broncos.

Finally, I held my breath all through the 2nd round, hoping and praying that we would pop up with a pick, and unload some excess players we don’t need any more (Stu, Fabian, Jake, Lamont, Rhodes and ya, even Seabass (not everyone agrees with that). But there is a little kid up in Oregon State (can’t remember his name?) who is pretty accurate under 50 yards and that’s all you need. He’s projected at a 6 or 7, so I’m hoping we can get him at 7 and give him a shot against the guy who loses at least two games a year for us.

Hopefully we can pick up a 3rd and 5th tomorrow. That would be awesome.

    GO RAIDERS.

  133. G-raider Says:

some 1 was posting in my name the other day…who the heck does stupid crap like that

  134. La Milicia Negra Says:

at what time do you guys think the 2rd round will be done? (bay area time)

  135. Oakglenn Says:

Top of the 4th round is our scheduled next pick

  136. La Milicia Negra Says:

that would be 3rd round =)

    LOL

  137. La Milicia Negra Says:

    G-raider…

    number 104, number 4 in the 4th

  138. Thec Says:

I am not that big. I flux between 230-250. when lifting weights I get to 250 area.
I like XXXL for the fit. Could get away with XXL but the XXXL gives more room.

  139. jjvill Says:

Before the draft I found it funny that everyone found it natural to compare DMac to AP just because AP came out last year and they are both big, physical specimens. But DMac isn’t really like AP. AP is a pure power, high stepping, all knees in your face type runner with speed and moves. ALL-DAY.

Or they compare him to Bush…because he was taken the year before. DMac isn’t either of these.

Think more Marshall Faulk. Pure speed with the versatility to play any skill position on the field. Glides along the turf. Busts through the hole like a bullet. If this kid hits his peak…he could be very much like Faulk. Forget the AP or Bush talk. Also brings Dickerson’s style to mind in ways…a dash of TDavis.

Now he shouldn’t be compared to these HOF backs yet…but if he lives up to his billing, Mcfad could have the same impact.

  140. Tommy Trojan Says:

DT, DE, WR, and especially LB are all LOADED in the 3rd, 4th, and even 5th and 6th rounds; there are some OT options but only about one or two in each round from here on, and the level of talent drops off significantly after the 4th round, we’re best served trading Washington for a 3rd, getting a DE, then grabbing a OT in the 4th, we may be able to package some guys to get a 5th, which would be ideal, but in the 5th or 6th we should look at adding competition or a rotational option at NT, and if we can get a 5th then use the 5th or 6th on a LB, then in the 7th look for the best available players, guys with alot of talent who fell for other reasons, such as Adarius Bowman or Tommy Blake, two guys with 1st round talent, but my two favorite guys in the draft right now are Buffalo DE Trevor Scott and San Diego State WR Chaz Schilens

  141. La Milicia Negra Says:

at what time do you guys think the 3rd round will be done? (bay area time)

  142. Blackholepriest Says:

There are some real talented defensive players still there we will get what we need. I still want a MLB and an edge rusher.

I couldn’t care less if we got a WR unless someone really good who’s left last until the 7th. The kids we have in camp are better than any of these kids. so if Hawkins slips then great we need guy’s that get after the QB.

Jjvill I really like Crable as well. A few of them are much better than you think Eric Foster is one hell of a football player.

  143. Oakglenn Says:

G, this effing loser who is trying to ruin the site. he posts under my name all the time, because I’ve tried to have him run out of here. He’s here all the time, trying to ruin everything. He’s the definition of loser.

  147. G-raider Says:

  148. RaiderDell Says:

    Thec

It’s been a long day if you go to posts #38,95, 97 it was a tongue and cheek fun remark to Dakota, it was a tease.

I’m behind DMAC, he’s in the Raider family, so don’t get to mad, just some fun.

  149. La Milicia Negra Says:

    Bob Marley

does that mean McFadden will be out in 09 because of the Madden-curse? we have to consider that in contract talks

  153. La Milicia Negra Says:

    Dakota….

define a big play, isn’t that pretty much subjective?

  154. oliverthizz Says:

    132, thats alexis serna

  155. Oakglenn Says:

Well Bob, he certainly elevates the offense. No doubt.

  156. Blackholepriest Says:

Tommy what’s wrong with you man why do want to give players away a 3rd for Fabian?? This kid can start in this league. package for a 5th?? just so we can get someone worse??? calm down dude relax. They know what they’re doing. Just let them do it.

    That’s crazy!

  157. Tommy Trojan Says:

Crable is one of my favorite players available, early last year I had him on par with vernon gholston and I still believe he has that kind of potential, although he may be developmental against the run as a 4-3 end, but he could easily replace clemons as our hybrid rusher until he developes that functional strength, of course, bruce davis and cliff avril would be great as well

  158. Thec Says:

Dell, I figured as much!!! Look at my post after that brother. we`are family man sio dont take me serious.

  159. La Milicia Negra Says:

    Dakota…

is it 10 minutes per pick in the 3rd and 5 minutes per pick in 4-7th ?

  160. jjvill Says:

BHP - Now that DMac is wearing S&B how do you feel? I never would have considered myself in the All-for-DMac contingent, but I was never opposed to the idea. When commish read the name I have to say I was happy. Just the potential he brings to an offense. My gut told me it was a good day.

  161. Dakota Says:

    LMN,

They probably mean plays that went for 20 yards or more.

  162. Tommy Trojan Says:

bhp, i’m talking about washington, stu, jordan(and/or rhodes), and maybe walter, none of these players offer us any value, and you’re seriously underestimating the level of talent in the 3rd, some of the guys left in the early 3rd this year could be high 2nds or even low 1sts in many draf classes

  163. Blackholepriest Says:

I’m trying to tell ya’ Fabian is better than most of the corners that went on day one. What the hell do yu want to trade him for 3rd for??? Did he rape anybody?

  164. Dakota Says:

LMN, it is 5 minutes per pick in rounds 3-7.

10 minutes in rd 1 and 7 minutes in rd 2.

  165. RaiderDell Says:

    Thec

I usually go to the Charger games, until they required that stupid family pack.

Buying single games tickets is harder, now that the dischargers are better.

    Those scalped tickets are costly.

  166. Blackholepriest Says:

Name one freakin’ corner in the 3rd that can compare to him?

  167. kevn Says:

TT, who’s the best Strongside LB. I know Goff (who played MLB) was getting some attention from Raider people. Guyton and Ezra Butler look promising, and I noticed Shawn Crable is still available, too.

  168. Bob Marley Says:

Baltimore is sitting there with 3 third round picks and a glaring need for CB help, we got Fabian Washington.

Other than Justin King the best CB´s are off the board and Fabian becomes their starter opposite McCallister from day 1.

  169. jjvill Says:

Dakota post #145…I know! Read every piece of Raider news I can and no one ever mentioned that stat. Not that it was unbelievable or anything, but to actually hear it sounds sickening.

  170. La Milicia Negra Says:

    Dakota…

so that means a bit before noon, then i’m on the safe side =)

  171. Blackholepriest Says:

I know there are players available I’ve been saying it for the last 2 hours.

  172. Dakota Says:

Give Al a call and let him know that Bob…we need RED BRYANT!

  173. RaiderDell Says:

    LMN

Just don’t go to bed and blog all night and day and you’ll be fine.

  174. Thec Says:

Dell, I hate that fake family pack BS. They did that so that fans from other teams wouldnt overun them. Stupid policy.

Dont worry though in the next couple of years they will be back where they belong. Not ebough room for us and them so they are getting evicted.

  175. KeeneRaider Says:

-Dorsey was my first choice but im still very pleased with Mcfadden.

On why im happy with McFadden:

-If we can have the 6th ranked run offense with Justin Fargas as our lead back then think about how much better it could be with McFacdden. There were so many times last year when I watched Fargas run and amired his toughness but thought “if he was a faster or had better balance he could have taken that to the house” McFadden excells in those two areas, speed and balance.

-The experts can say what they want about Mcfadden having “dead legs” or poor lateral movement but nearly 400 yards in 2 years against the best defense (LSU/Glen Dorsey) in all of college football is impressive.

-After spending days and days of searching the internet, watching tv, and reading magazines, Darren McFadden was deffiently the most common name to come up as the “top prospect” in this draft…. and we got him at #4.

-Every team that played Arkansas knew McFadden was comming but they still couldn’t stop him. Arkansas didn’t have a great passing game.

-As one ESPN analyists pointed out.. the team must have a lot of faith in him if they play him at quaterback so much. I don’t remember ever seeing any big time college back take the direct snap that much.

-My overall thought process going into the draft was “help out Jamarcus Russell” We spent over 30 million on him and our success is directly linked to his success. However, at the #4 spot there was no value in reaching to take an offensive lineman. This is the next best thing. It will take pressure off of him not to mention our offense was slightly worse statistly then our defense.

    - Hopefully we can use Jordan and Washington as trade bait and get back into the third round. After drafting McFadden and trading for Hall, I don’t think we need either of those players.

-As troubling it is that we have Kelly, Sands, Joesph, and Gerrard as our DT’s it’s much more troubling that Kwamie Harris is our starting LT. LT is the second most important position in my mind and it’s not comforting to know a first round bust is protecting Jruss blinde side regardless of the fact we have Tom Cable as an excellect o line coach. If Harris can’t play for the worst offensive team in football (49ers) then thats saying something.

What the McFadden pick comes down to is this….
-We haven’t been good since the day before the superbowl. A running back is the easiest way to improve your team through the draft..

It would be nice if the Raiders could have a winning season before I graduate college and can’t afford Direct TV anymore.

  176. Blackholepriest Says:

I’ll take Marcus Harrison over Red Bryant any day.

  177. in too Deep Says:

Well I guess I’ll come out of the woodwork and say I wish they would have gotten Dorsey. obviously Dmac looks phenominal but Defense should be our bread and butter. Hey D-mac prove me wrong, I hope you do!.

How does our team showcase guys for trade ie.. extra rb’s when they did’nt play all that often last year? bottom line when you got a dude that looks like Iron Mike Tyson available at a position weve been getting killed at take him. Now we gotta deal with him twice a year. Note to Lane, no dive plays for Dmac against the chiefs!

  178. RaiderDell Says:

    Thec

Congrats on your choice of DMAC.

    Good job.

All I ask is two hundred yard games against SD and KC, that’s it. I will be so happy.

  179. Dakota Says:

Tom Waddle is clueless, he said our o-line is bad…hmmm, maybe he was looking at 06 stats? We did finish 6th in rushing in 07, and now we will finish first and score some TDs, lol.

  180. Tommy Trojan Says:

    Perfect Draft:

    Trade Washington, Jordan(and/or rhodes), and Schweigert for a 3rd and a 5th

    1.Darren McFadden
3.Shawn Crable(or Cliff Avril or Bruce Davis)
4.Jeremy Zuttah(or Tony Hills or Oniel Cousins)
5.Frank Okam(or Rubin Ahtyba or Keilen Dykes)
    6.Stanford Keglar(or Thomas Williams)
    7.Tommy Blake(or Trevor Scott)
    7.Adarius Bowman(or Chaz Schilens)

  181. RaiderDell Says:

    KeeneRaider

    Nice post.

  182. Blackholepriest Says:

We aint just gonna give Fabia away that’s crazy, he’s a starting cover corner in this league. they are very hard to find and can bringa lot more than a 3rd rnd pick.

  183. Tommy Trojan Says:

SAM LB? I like Keglar, but Gatewood, Howard, and Vobora are also great options

pirate, what washington could add as a 3rd would be far more valuable than his use as a dime back, we have bowie, waddell, johnson, and starks, all more than capable dimes with bowie and waddell arguably nickle capable, a 3rd is more valuable than what washington gives us over bowie, especially considering how LOADED the 3rd round is
    _____________________

don’t think so. We know what washington is, a promising young 1st round pick with elite athletic skills and some success in the NFL. You don’t know what you’re getting with a 3rd rd pick, usually a backup or nothing. Maybe Quentin Moses, maybe JL Higgins, maybe Mario Henderson, maybe Paul McQuiston. Shall I go on? The league is littered with 3rd rd garbage. But the grass is always greener on the other side. I don’t believe for a minute that you’re going to find a player better than F.Wash in the 3rd rd of this draft.

Waddle? seriously, he hasn’t played in the NFL since 2005.
Starks - training camp fodder of the old age type, really hasn’t played since 2005. look at the history. Plays in training camp, released before week 1. Next year plays in training camp, would have been released week one but bought a few weeks and wasn’t released until D.Rhodes suspension was lifted.
C.Johnson - training camp fodder, garbage.
Bowie - the R.Moss compensation. Fast, don’t know anything more about him.

Again, you call him a dime, but he’s a backup at a CB position. When your starter gets hurt, he becomes your starter. So if Aso goes down, Routt starts and you want Waddle or Starks to be our nickel back? that’s horrifying.

Look at the Cowboys. Screwed last year because T.Newman and A.Henry got hurt. This year, J.Jones goes out and gets pacman and drafts a CB in the 1st round. Why, because if you want to be a contender, you’ve got to have four solid CBs. Necessity.

    RaiderDell…

well I have some stuff tomorrow night, so I just had to figure out when my deadline will be…

i’ve gotta get up around 11 so 5 hours of sleep is enough, but thanks for your concern. but i’ve just been on a nice trip during the last week, a week more or less without internet, it was nice =)

Good for you. You must like guys with chronic knee problems, ecstasy problems, weed problems and suspensions.

  187. Thec Says:

    Dell,

To be honest I did not want DMAC either. I wanted Ellis or trade down and get some picks. I watched MBUSH play so I was familiar with him. I did not think we needed a RB. It all boiled down to what I was reading on this blog and it occured to me no matter what I wanted we were going to get DMAC.

  188. Bob Marley Says:

Wait, Baltimore actually has 3 thirds and 3 fourths, they can only trade 2 each round because the others are compensatory.

With all those picks they should be willing to trade for a safe player like Fabian to fill their biggest hole.

  189. Pirate Arrrrrrgggggghhhhh Says:

here’s my prediction, write it in stone.

whoever we pick with our 4th round pick will never amount to anything. Backup a year or two at the most, then released.

I’m comfortable with the prediction because those are the OVERWHELMING odds.

  190. kevn Says:

I’d be pleased if we could round our draft with some of these names:

    OLB Shawn Crable
    DT Frank Okam
    OT Breno Giacomini
    DT Jason Shirley

  191. kevn Says:

Thanks, TT. I’m not even sure who Gatewood and Vobora are. *Looking now*

  192. Bob Marley Says:

    Baltimore´s 3rd (86th) and 4th (106th) for Fabian, I´d do that…….sandwiched between them is our own 4th at 104.

  193. Tommy Trojan Says:

pirate, to be honest, considering we have the best man coverage safety in the NFL and a few of the best LBs in coverage, even a nickle man is not that valuable for us, so if nnamdi or hall goes down, we have a good starter to step in in routt and a capable dime in bowie, johnson is a STer but he can play a quarter or even dime set in a pinch, we don’t need four starters at CB, NO WR core in the NFL has 4 CBs as good as our 4 CBs, NO #4 WR in the NFL is going to require the attention of a CB like Washington, and if so, we have two of the best safetys and two of the best LBs at their positions to shut them down, Washington has become an unnecesary luxury, especially considering the talent in this 3rd round

  194. Tommy Trojan Says:

    *……has 4 WRs as good as our 4 CBs…..

  195. RaiderDell Says:

There seems to be some concern that we don’t sign our draft choices on time for camp in July.

Last year was the first year I can remember, that the pick, Jamarcus Russell held out of camp.

I can’t recall us ever not signing our pick for camp.

The blogs out there and the media keep saying we need to get him in camp soon DMAC, so he will be prepared for the season.

These guys drive me crazy, I wish they would bone up on our history of signing our picks.

Last year was the first year we chose Number 1.

  196. Raiderkoolaid Says:

Watching some of the film clips of McFadden today, he reminded me a lot of O.J. Simpson running. I know O.J. is rather nutorious for things that happened after his playing carreer but as a player he was the most incredible runner I ever saw. You can make an argument about who was the best runner ever. O.J. didn’t have the power of a Jim Brown or Bo Jackson, but the way he would glide and when it looked like the defense had him himmed in he would make a cut and make two or three people miss and then be off to the races. The Raiders didn’t pick him because they needed a running back or because they thought he would be a good running back. They picked him because they thought he would be an absolutely great running back. I sure hope they are right.

  197. Blackholepriest Says:

Pirate thanks maybe you can talk some sense into him if not Oh! well. He can take that garbage he’s talking about and do whatever with it we aint tradin’ Fabian.

  198. Jim (ct raider) Says:

AGAIN!!! I’M CT. DAMN IT! NOTICE THE jIM AND I SIGN CT RAIDER!!!! MY SHORTENED NAME IS CT!!! DO NOT CONFUSE. WITH THAT SAID..

We’re a DE (unless Richardson steps up which is very possible)
a DT (unless Sands steps up)
and a WR (unless Walker steps up.. i don’t have as much confidence here) away from doing damage.

I wanted Gholston. I wanted Dorsey (for some reason i keep calling him Russell), however, I’m excited to have Fadden. Now lets trade Jordan, Rhodes and Washington so we can get the rest of our needs or players to put on enough pressure. WE may actually find what we need over the summmer (june 1st).

  199. Jim (ct raider) Says:

I WOULDN’T BE WRITING THAT OTHER STUFF.

  200. Blackholepriest Says:

BOB I’ might think about that fr a while as long as had someone targeted but not for just a 3rd, Tommy’s crazy. an unnecessary luxury? that kid is too talented to just give away especially when you can get a lot more.

  201. Thec Says:

OJ was one of the best to ever do it PERIOD

Hopefully DMAC can live up to the expectations.

fyi, discharger fans are not happy we got DMAC.

  202. Tommy Trojan Says:

Exactly right Koolaid, people don’t like the OJ comparison because he was a HOFer and McFadden is a rookie, but their stlyes are almost exactly the same, he’s a more powerful marshall Faulk, a combination of Adrian Peteron and Reggie Bush, Bush is a little more agile and has slightly better hands while Peterson is slightly more powerful, but McFadden as a whole is a far superior overall prospect, he has the potential to be the next OJ……….again, hopefully without the murder……….

  203. KeeneRaider Says:

    thanks.
