Walker matter under review
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, June 16th, 2008 at 8:03 pm in Oakland Raiders.
A Raiders spokesman said “We are in the process of gathering information,” regarding the status of wide receiver Javon Walker, who was reportedly found unconconscious in Las Vegas with an orbital fracture Monday morning.
Walker, according to Fox affiliate KVVU-5, was listed in fair condition.
The Las Vegas-Review Journal reported Walker was spotted at the nightspot “Tryst” at the Wynn “spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignone Rose champagne he ordered.”
Walker signed a free agent contract with $16 million in guaranteed money in the offseason but was still rounding into shape following knee surgery. Coach Lane Kiffin said he wanted Walker to lose weight before the Raiders went to training camp in Napa.
A report filed with the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified Walker as the “victim of an early morning crime.”
The statement read as follows:
“The victim of an early morning crime near the intersection of Winnick Avenue and Koval lane has been identified as Javon Walker. Officers responded to a report of a man down at that location at approximately 7:19 a.m. this morning. When officers arrived they found an unconscious male, who appears to have been the victim of a robbery. The victim was transported to an area hospital with siginficant injuries. Late this afternoon detectives were able to positively identify the victim as Walker.
“Walker remains hospitalized at this time and this investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information concinering this event is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.”

The only positive thing we can take away from this is the season is a good 12 weeks away. Hopefully thats enough for him to heal

June 16th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Wow… just when we are looking to get things turned in the right direction and have really been clear of these types of issues since the GHB days a few seasons back.
It is nice to see that the NFL is getting behind the good of the game and not behind the players that feel it is their right and not their privledge.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
omg it was probably mike shanahan?!?!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
and we have Ronald Curry who is doing the right thing but is still projected at 3
June 16th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I honestly dont think he will see the field this year. Hopefully Im wrong

June 16th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Jesus….I hate living in Vegas. Most dangerous city in the U.S. …no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
Was he in the wrong place doing some questionable things?
Probably.
Did he deserve what he got?
Sure doesn’t sound like it.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
we should sign chris henry lol
June 16th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
or javon”hype” walker?
June 16th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Dark horse…
Curry needs to stay at #3, thats his best spot, then he’ll get 700yds… he ins’t good or fast enough to be #1, and Carter is our #2…
June 16th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Recovery time can start at 3 weeks and goes up from there. Hopefully he thinks about getting things figured out and turned around. There are not other teams that will take a chance on him if he doesnt last in Oakland.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
i hate to hear he got hurt, but in all honesty we need a better role model to depend on catching passes for this team.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
LMN -
Carter may now be our #1 WR
June 16th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
he can easily recover a head injury, getting down in weight at the same time, but him on a stationary bike an let him sweat! that cant hurt his head
June 16th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I was happy that porter left cuz it wud create more pt for curry. and i am just really upset javon did this
June 16th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
where were his friends?
June 16th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Wow …
A person gets beat down, robbed, and left for dead, but he’s the problem?
He wasn’t at strip club or anything, it was a nice club at the W, a TOP NOTCH hotel.
Vegas? Weekend? Plenty of $?
Can’t a guy enjoy himself any more? I guess not!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
The Dude…
then Higgins might get to try #2, because we need to stretch the field, but I don’t know if he is ready, it didn’t seem like it last year
June 16th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
DIDNT DESERVE IT????
“spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignone”
If you got sprayed by someone who doesnt give a damn about money and you work your ass off, you would bust him on the face to regardless of who it is.
Same thing with Pacman, you work hard for your money, you go to the strip club and some guy brings 50k+ in CASH to blow, you wouldnt just sit there and think…. that guy is lucky…. where are you at church??
He got what he deserved if the story is accurate.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
the facts will come out in time…
June 16th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
did this???
come on man, don’t be silly
June 16th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
What a f@#king idiot!!! I mean what a seriously stupid person! Spraying the 15 bottles of champagne… He probably pissed off some thugs who then beat the holy crap out of him. $16 million guaranteed. Al Davis, you are as much of an a$$ clown as J. Walker. Way to do your research!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:18 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Ooooooooooooooooooo-kay …
Now it’s Al’s fault?!?!!?
Laffs I say!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:20 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Clearly it’s not Brett Farves fault. It’s Rob Ryans fault right clown?
June 16th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
but the initial idea looks like he made someone jealous and they flipped him ,… he shud be lucky they didnt kill him really. imagine if we were discussing another sean taylor situaition

June 16th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Best reports are that he got robbed. Nothing about pissing somebody off spraying them with champagne. Get a clue.
He could have definitely used better judgment in being around friends, or at least a crowd… but
If the STORY IS ACCURATE… in no way did he deserve getting robbed and beaten.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
I’m really glad our running game is pretty decent. We will need it if he can’t get in shape and we can’t land another option.
It seems like he was hit as we was getting out in morning. Sucks regardless of the situation.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
whoops, i’m not that good quoting I see =) upset/pissed off - potato/potaaahto
June 16th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
right, DH …
He could have been killed by these haters, but he’s getting bashed. Amazing!
Certainly, he needs to answer some questions, namely why was he by himself? Especially on the streets? All athletes, or high profile folks should know that.
He’s very lucky to be alive!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Get well soon Javon!
Even though everyone is freaking out we all want to see you on the field this year scoring TD’s for The Raiders!!!!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I should call that number. I know who did it. Mike ordered a hit on walker, sadly for him champ bailey and bly didn’t finish.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Al, Please don’t sign anymore #1 free agent receivers to huge contracts…Moss, Walker…Ouch!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
He sure is… Very lucky it didn’t go further than an ass whoopen.
The reason a lot of people are on his case is because this guy hasn’t been a Raider yet, so it’s easier to get on his ass about it. He hasn’t done anything for the team yet! And it seems like his misjudgement may have hurt us. At the very least, it will have distracted the team and the positive vibe the team has had in recent days.
Ah well. I just hope he can recover in time.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
I got home from work at 0415, just wanted to see if anything had happened… I better go to bed, I cant even think properly yet alone write english =)
June 16th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
JR you’re right in the fact that no one deserves to be robbed and beaten, (other than mistaclown), but the fact is he was found at 7:15 am on the streets of Vegas. Now, without drawing too many weird conclusions, I’ll bet:
Javon didn’t go to sleep at 10pm so he could wake up at 5am, do some yoga and thai chi, and then run 10 miles thru the streets of Vegas on his way to his work out regimen. Which when someone promises to pay you $50MM to be a professional athlete, is exactly what he should have been doing!!!
June 16th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Vegas police are still looking for Tupac’s killer, I doubt they give much effort into a rich guy getting beat up for showing how much cash he has.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
hope he is ok though…
June 16th, 2008 at 8:33 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:33 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Chris Henry has been suspended by the NFL so you can rule him out.
We have the same problem in Sydney with our footballers out at 4am, and we’re in the middle of our football season!!!
Nothing good happens when your a footballer and out on the town early in the morning….
June 16th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
well i am looking at from many different perspectives
June 16th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
He’s lucky to be alive. His vision now comes into question. The socket will heal pretty quick. It’s a huge setback for all involved. Too early to judge him.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Hopefully he comes out of this a more humbler person but still agressive on the field in his play.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Damn. Why? No! Crap………………………………………………………………….That really sux…….
June 16th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Oakglenn…
As I said… if reports are accurate… he could have used better judgment. OK… MUCH better judgment. But some are suggesting Javon deserved this.
I won’t judge a man harshly for getting out and enjoying himself. He just went through OTA’s and was probably just letting off some steam before getting back into the grind.
Question is… does Walker have a history of partying too hardy? Is this typical of his “normal” behavior? Or was he simply a victim of being in a bad place at a bad time?

Usually, the athlete is portrayed as criminal these days, but sometimes the reverse is true. Try this link -
http://www.boston.com/sports/other_sports/articles/2006/11/10/athletes_as_victims/
One of the greatest baseball players ever, Ed Delahanty, walked across a railroad bridge and fell into the Niagara River when he was drunk, went over the Falls, and was killed. Talk about foolishness.
Walker was lucky, he’s still alive, and hopefully he’ll heal OK. Maybe he’ll learn THIS time that today’s athletes are targets.
That old time Raider party image doesn’t play so well in today’s corporate NFL, eh? When Bobby Layne Lions HOF QB) got pulled over while DUI in 1950’s Detroit, he would get a police escort home, one in the front, one in the back, just get ‘em on Sunday, Bobby. Bet Snake got away with it in the 1970’s too.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
I hope its not an orbital fracture b/c that can be damaging esp for a reciever who needs to have good vision. This is the same injury that ended Marcus Williams (TE) career when Romo decked him about 5 years ago.
We need to get the facts though, like others have said he may have put himself in a bad situation but he probably did’nt deserve to get rolled up, robbed whatever, and the sh!t beat out of him. HOpefully he can pull a Paul Pierce and come back quickly from a harrowing situation like this. I wonder about this guys mental state though. 2 years ago his good friend dies in his arms, injuries and an acrimouniuios split from the donks, and now apparently beaten and robbed. That is a lot of junk to overcome, I hope for Javon’s and our sakes he can.

When Len Bias died the day he was drafted by the Celtics, the Celtics immediately said what a tragedy and wished his family the best. Larry Bird was more direct and said, “he was never a Celtic”.

i became self righteous when he took all that money and decided he didn’t need to rehab. He came in over weight, slow, and he only did one practice a day. However, he feels good enough to hang out in Las Vegas. I don’t care why he was there… he shouldn’t have been. He’s done nothing but been a bad example since he came to camp. Of course, now that there is a tragedy (to a point), everyone will talk about how good he was and etc…. That wasn’t the story the last few weeks.

R.A.W: I agree with you but you also need a chain mover. We need more than a TE. Curry will be the slant with the other two taking off.
We need Curry but he is by no means a 1 or 2. But personally, in my posts when we signed Walker I didn’t think he was even a 3. A 2 on a bad team. I never liked him. HOnestly, watching the broncos and raiders have you ever once been scared before a game and said, ‘oh.. i hope we can contain walker”? I never did. I always felt Denver never had a receiver except a younger rod smith. My opinion. I thought walker was a waste from the beginning. I don’t wish any harm but if he misses the season it won’t hurt the raiders at all. Honestly, he wasn’t going to do anything.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Yeah, Jim CT, it’s not the same. But I think it’s DEMAND that causes ticket prices (and salaries) to go up. Much of the money comes from TV. And the higher the price, the more people want the tickets, and satellite dishes, and digital cable, and sports blogs, so why should they lower the price when fans just want MOOORRRE? Weird, huh? The price will go down when the fans don’t want football anymore. It’s US and our jones for the NFL that causes ticket prices to skyrocket. The players get their share.
Ironically, the Raiders were most successful when they drank together, we were a hard partyin’ club with a bunch of characters. It bonded them. This practice doesn’t stand a chance today.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

she’s 6′1″… probably the best athlete available…
she will get the attention other #1 receivers only can dream of…

FPete: I want to play safety!
I read something that “kirk” said in the other blog…
I read that JeMarcus and Jevon were having a catch in the alley when JeMarcus hit him in the face with a pass. Knocked him out.
I thought it was funny but for the JW family, i apologize.

I’m not dissin on Curry or anything like that, i think he’s a good slot receiver, its just this year’s free agent market was thin at the WR position, Walker was the only one we could grab. Also there were rumors that in the draft, the raiders traded up in the 4th round pick not to get branch but Mario Manningham who was pick right before the raiders at the end of the 3rd round by the giants. The raiders are trying to address this problem. We already have a “Culpepper” in J-Russ, now we need a “Moss”. also i think curry and miller are good “move the chain” reciever and TE. We also will be doing alot of screen passess to mcfadden and russell

June 16th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
you know how long it takes to find something stupid from sistaclown: that’s right, 2 seconds.
I appreciate the few of you guys who are saying don’t rush to judgement on Javon. You’re right about that. We do have two facts that are indisputable. First, Javon was involved in something very very bad with a prior team mate. Now, Javon after signing a major contract has had something else less then stellar happen.
Bottom line: the days when you could show up to games drunk as a player are over. I know it’s part of great Raider lore, but those days are now past. It is just too big money now to have to deal with this sh**. This sh** could ruin a franchise.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
R.A.W. You hit it on the nose… but if we were patient there are a million unhappy receivers. and to tie up that much money so we don’t have any options… is dumb. Walker is no Moss. I agree w/you on a CJ, Fitzgerald (who was unhappy), Boldin isn’t the deep threat but the carolina guy is. boldin is in between curry and carolina. but boldin is a beast to bring down. we jumped too quickly for junk.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
carolina = drew carter
June 16th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
so really what will be our x and y recievers?
June 16th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Oakglenn..
Without a doubt Javon should have used better judgment… and yes, we’d all love to think that these guys are working 24/7 on their craft. But reality is, they don’t. They’re human just like you and I and they have their issues and they make stupid mistakes.
Understand… I am not condoning Walkers actions… what-so-ever. I am simply stating that the reports are very sparse in details.
For instance…
What if Walker stopped by Vegas to let it loose before heading off to a serious off-season workout program. He parties hard and one of his buds drops him off outside his hotel. Some punks catch him outside, alone, and commit a crime of opportunity. Wrong place, wrong time.
If I was a detective, I’d be finding out who was at this place where he was splurging on the Dom… because it makes most sense that he was set up.
We just don’t know yet.
Hey, I’d much rather see Javon walking the straight and narrow. But something to think about… NFLn was running a spot all day today about the new youth facility, named after Darrent Williams, being opened.
Javon was in Vegas, at that same Tryst spot, partying when Williams funeral was being held last year. It sounds to me like this is how he deals with this type of stuff.
Not smart… just human…

Sorry Jim I didn’t read your post 116. You’re exactly right.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Darkhorse; think about last year’s team. we had less weapons, no qb and we still ran.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
before i go, Jim CT. I’ll would like to remind you that
1. we have no threats at the WR currently what so ever
2. There aren’t any good receivers currently avaialble in the FA market
3. I’m begging Al to pull a D-hall trade with the Giants for Burress. I’m not sure if he is a deep threat, but he is a THREAT. We need to strike fear into opposing defenses with a deep threat so they won’t be stacking the box with 8 to 9 people.
I agree with D.Carter, but he is nothing until he proves it on the field. hopefully he does =)
i’ll be back tom.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
uh….
June 16th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
After all is said and done…the bottom line is clearly one thing: “We picked up a freaking idiot and Shanarat pulled a last second time out to beat us again.” Anyone who would blow $15,000.00 on Don Perignon Champagne to spray other people in a night club is out of his mind, has no value for money and will soon be broke like Mike Tyson. There are no excuses, “whatsoever,” for his actions and anyone defending him is blind and out of touch with reality. This is a sad day for Raider Nation.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Jr; i appreciate your human approach. You are wise and down to earth. ANything is possible/.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
i mean not to trade D-hall, but somewhat like that with a second round pick and next years (2010) third round pick like what he did wit the falcons. just giving you a heads up. now seriously gotta go, can’t even stand up now, so tired
June 16th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
JR I completely, totally agree with your post #137. You are completely, unequivocably correct with one exception: Walker already has one fatality around him.

reason for low numbers? JW hurt DC played behind Steve Smith.

June 16th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
we just need alot of positive vibes and this is not one.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Question: I wonder how many Raider Jerseys of Darren MaFadden, or other Raiders, have to be sold to cover the cost of $15,000.00 in champagne (Don Perignon at that) just to spray other people in a night club? A waste of money, on a “wasted-individual.” Javon Walker, you’re an idiot and soon-to-be-a-broke-moron.” You couldn’t even come to camp at a decent weight and in shape. Now, you only have one-eye-ball.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
mb is a beast! that’s my quote for two years now. i watched him at Louisvile a lot. HE’S A BEAST. if we use him only on goal line and short ydg then we are wasting a major weapon.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
tht was ugly…. I know I am upset but tht’s just ugly.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Oakglenn…
If I was pressed, I’d say Javon has a problem with letting his partying get out of hand. There are some stories floating around out there that he does have a tendency to partake a little too much. I’d also think he’s not the most mature individual.
But I’m not quite sure the connection you are making to his involvement in the Darrent Williams murder. Are you saying he was at fault somehow? Or just that he should have learned from it and it should have woken his butt up?
Don;t know enough about the Williams case to offer much opinion in Walker’s involvement. But I do think that Javon, if he handled the horrific Williams incident properly, should have changed his lifestyle… at least to the extent of moderating his partying somewhat.
The deal is… we are all just speculating on a person we don’t really know. We have to go by news stories and rumors.
Hey… if my friend got shot and died in my arms, I’d be pretty messed up for a while. It wasn’t all that long ago.
Again… not condoning or making excuses… just offering some perspective.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
RR: he won’t be broke.. guaranteed money. (quite a bit of it). that’s why guarantees suck… players don’t care about playing.

June 16th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I know curry is injury prone, but dammit he has come back from several career ending injuries and just has that intestinal fortitude that we need more of.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
I have faith in him.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Jr: you’re very understanding and human. You make it difficult to be pissed off. When someone gets a lot of money the team should have someone there to keep them straight. YEs, Jevon is a veteran but still young (in the world not football).
June 16th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Walker will most likely be ready for the start of the season, but right now it looks like the most important person in the entire Raider franchise right now is James Lofton. Funny thing is I have infinite faith in James Lofton. Get Shelins, Shields or Todd Watkins ready. This is going to be an opportunity for someone!!
June 16th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
anyone remember that one handed catch from kerry collins in denver before th langston walker block? 2004
June 16th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I appreciate it JR. Excellent perspective.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
WHat bothers me is Curry’s qbs have caused much of the injuries. He gets more “set up” balls then any other receiver in the history of football. If he had Moss’ alligator hands then he wouldn’t be hurt as much.
Have you guys watched curry get hit? he gets more helmet shots and wip lashes than i’ve ever seen before. A good qb wouldn’t set him up like that.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
darkhorse; hell yeah!
June 16th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
i hope the youth follows loftons direction and a guy blossoms, but i still think we need a big name player before camp starts.

buress is a better idea
June 16th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
darkhorse: i agree. if he had a qb, his down time would only be a percentage of what it is. He and Wayne Chrebet (i watched all the jets because i lived in ct) were fearless over the middle. Chrebet took some shots but he did get low passes so he can get down.
COllins, tuiasasopo, brooks, walter, culpepper, mcnown, who else??? they lit up curry w/head hunting passes
June 16th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
burress drops a lot of passes. he has long arms and has difficulty on passes inside him. absolutely no separation speed. excellent int he red zone
June 16th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
it wud be nice to see lofton produce a game changing rookie out of this core of unknowns, but come week one we gotta have a guy to occupy bailey
June 16th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Jim is right, Anquon Boldin is just exceptional. Ron Curry is my favorite receiver as well. We’ll be alright. Someone is going to have to emerge tho.

Jim post 168:
Mike Tyson, and many others, have had a 10, 20, times etc., more money than Walker and they’re broke. It’s the way you spend and value money. He probably blew 50 to 100 thousand for his weekend of partying, and who know how much he may have lost gambling. Also, the Raiders will have some protections in their contract with him. He can’t just go out and do whatever he wants, blowing an eye-socket, other injuries, maybe some to the same injured knee. No he’s not going to get all his guaranteed money with behavior such as this…at least I hope not. Hope the Raiders have some protections?
June 16th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
well we cud just try to play 2 te sets on third as well… but is shockey gonna cost us more than buress?
June 16th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
if shockey is healthy i think id rather have him than burress,… with mmadsen…yeh…
June 16th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
yeh i think walker has pretty much made pacman feel like an afterthought,… thgis is insane on a major scale and we will find out more disturbing facts in time. I wonder if the contract can decide some truths for us fans. heh I dont have a copy in front of me so…..lol

Jim…
>>>Jr: you’re very understanding and human. You make it difficult to be pissed off. When someone gets a lot of money the team should have someone there to keep them straight. YEs, Jevon is a veteran but still young (in the world not football).<<<
Thanks.
Reality is, this news hurt me more than pissed me off. Things were going so good for the Raiders. After the Kiffin/Ryan/Al almost-fiasco worked itself out, we’ve had some really great news streaming into Raiderland.
• Gibril Wilson signing
• Huff moving to FS
• DMac being drafted, then Signing so EASILY
• Walker signing
• Bush healthy
• JRuss taking his franchise status EXTREMELY seriously
… among others. It was really, really looking up.
If the Raiders didn’t cover their butts contractually, this could end up biting them hard. It’s possible that Javon may never play football again. Those eye injuries can be real serious. Even if Walker is lost just for this season, it’s gonna be tough for the Raiders to fill that spot. JRuss desperately needed a player like Javon to help him out in his development and learning curve.
That said… if Javon was out being extremely stupid… there’s plenty of time for me to get angry.
Right now, I’m just bummin’.
But hey, first and foremost, let’s just hope he makes a quick, full recovery. From a human AND football standpoint. And if he did do something stupid & immature, he takes it seriously and learns from this. Take it from me, sometimes it takes a kick to the head to wake some people up.
Gonna be interesting to read the news in the mornin though…
June 16th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
he was robbed. he didn’t do anything wrong (so far). He wasn’t riding a motorcycle w/o a helmet. He’s a victim. I’m sure being robbed isn’t being held against him in his contract. It is definitely what you do w/the money but he’s only had it two months.
by the way, i watched all the giant games (3 tvs in my raider room w/direct tv. 8 peeps come over weekly), but BURRESS HAS HAD A FEW MORE THAN 40 YARD PLAYS. I just looked it up. I don’t remember them but his stats show it.
I do remember him dropping a lot of passes, though, because of the length of his arms. can you imagine a Juss bullet?
June 16th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
riverside..what is your problem with javon having money..he can spend how he wants to..are you the watch dog of his money..and why cant he go out and spend his money..and have fun..are you a jealous fan..who cant acept his rich choice of champagne..you are the blog liberal here..show your true feelings and feel sorry for him..like your programmed to do..stop being a snake..and a typical hater of the color..
June 16th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Anybody know if this is the kind of behavior that could trigger a morals clause?
June 16th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
we don’t know what he did. someone talked about champaign but wasnt’ that made up here? He may have had a late dinner and gambled.
I WAS ON THE RIVER BOAT (ACTUALLY NEXT TO THE RIVER.. MISSISSIPPI IS TOO HIGH) about 2.5 hours ago. If i didn’t have to work i may still be there. I’m not doing anything illegal or immoral (except my thoughts w/the waitress).
June 16th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
The Raiders are going to have some MAJOR contingencies in any contract especially with someone like Walker. The very first thing you are told as a collegian is don’t embarrass yourself, don’t embarrass your family and don’t embarrass the institution. That’s the first thing you learn. It’s chilling that 7 years in the league and he STILL hasn’t learned that yet.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
honestly..i don’t wish him harm but this is a blessing in disguise. i don’t think jw is that good and now we have a few months to get a receiver rather than looking in october.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
i’m ticked that he missed practices but could hang out. Whether he did anything wrong is questionable but what he was doing isn’t what he should have been doing.

June 16th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
darkhorse..al davis is a great owner and gm..he trusted javon word of dedication..work and..desire..what will al davis do..
June 16th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
i WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE HIM FIRE UP ABOUT “THAT TEAM” AND TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN IS EMMBARRASSING AND SADDENING, i HOPE HE IS O.K. BUT WE MUST LOOK FORWARD AND FIND SOMEONE NEW.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
RELEASE HIM TODAY!
June 16th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
YEH
June 16th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
he isnt a Raider til he plays a game right? (oh thts bad)
June 16th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Per Larry Bird anyway. that’s how i feel. I remember when he was holding out in GB for more money and then bitched at Favre for not standing up for him. THen they sent him to Denver where he wore out his welcome as well.
cut him
June 16th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
I wanna be non judgemental but its hard when 15 bottles of champayne are involved. its not like he was at church and had a bottle of wine break in his hands.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
I hope Al had some CYA in that contract. This could be a blessing in disguise. Al could cut him right away to make an example of an idiot.
If I was Al; I’d be HOT!
June 16th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
it wud be a lot easier to give the guy the benefit of the doubt if he was not spraying champagne at a high end club in vegas and at a charity function and the fruitpunch bowl dropped on his head
June 16th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
oh I am sure AD is way po’d
June 16th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
the more i think about the variables and possibilities the more i conclude tht walker made some really stupid moves
June 16th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
i know we need to wait for the facts but i am pretty upset.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
No doubt Javon got beat up pretty good. I guess we’ll hear his side of the story. This is going to be an opportunity for someone.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Oakglenn…
>>>It’s chilling that 7 years in the league and he STILL hasn’t learned that yet.<<<
You could very well be right. Maybe he DID do something to embarrass himself/team/family… maybe he hasn’t learned that lesson yet. But as of right now, we don’t know the facts. Frankly, what exactly do we know right now that he did to cause embarrassment for anyone?
We know he has an eye injury, we know he’s in the hospital in fair condition, and we know the cops think he was the victim of a robbery and assault. That’s pretty much about it.
Even the champagne story is just little more than an unsubstantiated rumor.
That said… he has shown he’s been in the wrong place at the wrong time before. He has shown he can be disgruntled with the team he plays for… hinting at immaturity issues. It’s pretty dang easy to draw conclusions to how that night went down. I’m right there with ya.
But to say what he’s learned and not, is a bit premature at this time. I’m gonna wait for whatever facts we get to come out before I start making defined and detailed judgments.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
rehab and this doesn’t happen. what if he got drunk and slipped and fell! wtf.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
oakglenn..whers is stupid mr..he has nothin good to say..lets hope he cant get out of the bathroom..
flushing is his primetime..
June 16th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
hey;; i just got out of the bathroom!
June 16th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
doubt it..
June 16th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
….
June 16th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Well, Mr. Walker certainly has dug a hole for himself.
Given the stuff he witnessed in Denver with his teammate losing his life in a drive by, you think he’d stay away from shady places and be home by 10pm.
At least this happened now rather during the season.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
JR we know he ended up knocked out on the streets of Vegas at 7 in the morning. From being up all nite. Hey, that’s embarrassing. And he’s had problems before. That’s embarrassing.

alot of you are so stupid. this guy gets whipped and left for dead but u blame him without knowing all the facts. who are any of us to say he cant go out. you think these guys are slaves where they just practice, workout and sleep all day. youre more concerned with not having a receiver than his health. we dont know how serious this is and players do have the right to have fun while waiting for the mini camps to start up. one more example of a black life being disposable in this country. typical fakeass LIBERAL bay area. i guess if he died some of yall would be happy that way al davis could use that money to get anquan boldin. lets wait for all the facts to come out. darrent williams got blamed for his death, house negro jason whitlock blamed sean taylor for his death before the facts came out and now walker is a spoiled rich brat who shouldve rehabed instead of livin his life gets blamed for this. since so many of u are so perfect get off ya ass and go play yourself since you such the role model. go show these youngstas how its done.

no not at all. if i go out , and mind u i dont have 16 million in the bank, i go out with my friends and a group and we take care of each other. for this to happen t him he had to have been alone. he shud know tht as a high profile athlete he is a target. they teach trht when they are rookies to these guys.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
armond..right on..riverside raider is your target..he wants walker to sit every nite and do nothing ..with his new found wealth..
June 16th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
go party but cover ur fkn bases. c y a
June 16th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
yes,, should have rehabbed instead of been out all night. if he misses work he shouldn’t be out. raiders committed to him and he committed to buy 15k of champaign. real mature.

i have no problem with th guy goin woohoo after signing 16 mill, but i think he cud have made some better decisions out gettin messed up.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
seriously, if you know that you are gonna get all drunk and twisted and u have 16 million, it doesnt take a whole lot to cover your bases so u can have fun without worrying .

Oakglenn…
>>>JR we know he ended up knocked out on the streets of Vegas at 7 in the morning. From being up all nite. Hey, that’s embarrassing. And he’s had problems before. That’s embarrassing.<<<
Disagree. Simply being embarrassed, or doing something embarrassing can derive from two entirely different situations.
Being out ’til 7am partying is not embarrassing in itself. Depends on the situation. In this matter, you have a single man out enjoying himself. He wasn’t skipping camp or missing any football arrangements.
What embarrassing problems “from before” are you speaking of?
And there are also different levels of embarrassment.
Taking a gun to the airport is embarrassing. But it also can be an honest mistake.
Getting caught with a whizzinator at the airport is an embarrassment to the team/family/player all the way around. Not 0an honest mistake.
Don’t remember Javon being involved in anything like this. So… is this an honest, mistake? As in, something that could happen to a anybody in Javon’s situation?
We just know yet.
I’m not trying to be argumentative, I just think you are applying judgments that may not really fit this individual or situation… at least according to what I know of Javon’s past and the facts of this specific situation.

maybe I am just too logical….
June 16th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
you don’t pay that money for any player. you pay it to someone who will dedicate themselves. Walker is not that kind of player. he wasn’t in gb/denver or in oakland. He was a scrub except for 2 years. it said. it is a good day for the raiders. now we can see the weakness w/o any illusions. bad day for walker, the young guy w/no discipline.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Just goes to show that we have another idiot on the roster who makes bad decisions and is still involved w/ stupid losers!! No wonder the Broncos kissed this guys ass good bye!!
He’s a fool!!!
Bring back J. Porter???
No Way!!!
June 16th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Fellas no one is saying he shouldn’t go out and party. No one is saying that. What we are saying is if he is prone to problems, which he apparently is, maybe he should do something different. For $50mil, maybe he should hire a body guard, or not be out ALL nite. This is the 2nd time that he is lucky to be alive.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
I don’t know, man. Fractured eye orbit? Dude might be pretty F’d-up.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
darkhorse..real logical..hahahah
June 16th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
porter doesn’t have heart. never went up for the ball (except twice w/succesful results last year. if we could have only inconvenienced him a few more times)
June 16th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
You guys need to stay out of Javon’s pocket let him do what he wants with his money. This man was mature enough to donate money to his former Broncos teammate boy’s and girls club charity when they need it. So if he wanted to waste a little let him. Whats $15,ooo when you have 16 million guaranteed. You need to wait till all of the reports come out. Or better yet wait till Javon makes his statement.

I just have alot of concerns as too the situation itself and how he cud get beat up without someone around . It is not like he is some nobody, his celebrity dictates him to take more precautions. and especially after DW you wud think he wud be smarter.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Being out on the streets all nite in any city is not embarrassing. That’s fun. Being found by the cops unconscious on the streets of any city, is embarrassing. At least it would be to me.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
if i missed that much work
