Source: Raiders to sign Keller today
By Jon Becker
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 9:46 am in Oakland Raiders.
UPDATE: Steve Corkran reports that Keller’s signing is official. The Raiders waived QB Erik Meyer to make room for him.
Looks like the Raiders’ backup quarterback situation is going to get a bit more muddled, with word coming from a source close to Sam Keller that the ex-San Ramon Valley High, Arizona State and Nebraska signal-caller will sign with Oakland today.
Keller worked out with the Raiders at a post-draft mini-camp, but left without signing a contract. The Raiders later re-signed Marques Tuiasosopo, who joined Andrew Walter as the main competitors to back up JaMarcus Russell.
Keller would join Erik Meyer and Jeff Otis, giving the Raiders six quarterbacks heading into training camp in July. Our reporters thought Keller was actually more impressive than both Otis and Meyer in May.

Good morning Raider fans…
Note, for the George Carlin fans, HBO will be running some of the specials he did for them starting tonight at 8 pm and Thursday night at 8 pm as well. For you youngsters or for those that have never seen George Carlin, you might want to check him out if you have HBO.
No comment on Kelly, stick with Walter and Tui.

June 25th, 2008 at 10:10 am
Signing Keller would be a smart move. He clearly has talent and potential. Andrew Walter doesn’t fit the system, he just doesn’t have the mobility and should be traded. The big issue is whether Tui has enough talent/presence to hold down the back-up job. If he does, then a trio of JR, Tui and Keller looks balanced and compatible. If not, then Dilfer is worth a look as the experienced back-up.
Keller gives us the raw materials to train JR’s long-term back-up.

Sam Keller QB 6’4 241 Nebraska 4.91
By: Robert Davis
Keller spent his first three seasons of college at Arizona St. He took over the starting job as a junior in 2005, and had an amazing start to the season. In the first seven games, he threw for 2,165 yards and 20 TD’s to just nine interceptions until he went down with a hand injury. A QB battle in which Rudy Carpenter was named the starter caused Keller to transfer to Nebraska, where he sat out the 2006 season. His only season with the Huskers was cut short with a left shoulder injury but he still managed to throw for 2,422 yards, while completing over 63% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and ten interceptions.
Keller has all the skills to develop into a quality pocket passer. He has a very good arm, capable of making every throw on the field. He is not afraid to unleash the ball all over the field, and has the confidence in his ability to make big plays. Keller has good size and the frame to be able to take hits in the pocket and continue to get up. He still has some development and upside left in his game.
Inconsistency has been the big issue with Keller. He has made some questionable decisions at times, and may believe in his arm too much. He will try and force the ball into coverage to make a play instead of seeing the field and making the smart decision. He also has less that two seasons of starting experience at the college level, so he still needs more work.
Sam Keller is a quarterback that needs more time, but has the skills to develop. He needs more experience overall, especially in the aspect of reading a defense. If a team can have some patience and be willing to develop his skills, he is a player that could develop into a legitimate NFL quarterback.

I just hope Nnamdi Asomugha doesn’t ask the Raiders not to franchise him next year before he signs the offer sheet.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I hope Nnamdi doesnt do that we need him on this team i hope he doesnt hes my favorite defensive player and a home grown talent.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:42 am
He deserves that big contract without a doubt i hope Al will give it to him hes got phenomenal skills and is a stand up guy good character and never has problems off the field he would set a great example for the others on the team for years to come. I say pay da man AL whats the hold up?????
June 25th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Nnamdi is doing what all other franchise players do and that is sit out of practices until they are mandatory. Because of the obvious reason, injury and no guarantee in a franchise on year contract.
wearing the franchise tag is not a popular thing in the NFL because if you get hurt your screwed. So why show up for voluntary practice and risk injury.
Don’t worry by mini camp he will be there and ready to go.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:55 am
I hate the University of Nebraska and all of its shiitty players.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Now that Shane Olivea has been banned for four games for failing a drug test, any team could get him for the minimum. Okay, we won’t be available until Week 5 and he wasn’t hugely impressive for the Bolts in 2007. BUT. The Shane Olivea of 2004 to 2006 was one of the best OTs in the league and if we could get his head straight and his motivation sorted, I think he would be a bargain.
We desperately need some quality depth at OT. Harris is a gamble. Green is a journeyman. McQuistan isn’t trusted and Henderson isn’t (yet) tough enough.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I have a report on Sam Keller his strengths are makes big plays with arm and legs shows the athleticism to avoid sacks when sensing pressure.Has the body control to reset and throw accurately when scarmbling.Tends to set up and throws quickly.when striding into passes,he makes NFL throws with velocity and accurately.weaknesses struggles to consistently to make good decisions and accurate throws in tight situations.he threw bad ints in important college games.has trouble with footwork.sometimes gets flat footed and relies on his arm strngth to delver the ball loseing accurately allowing defenders more time to break on the ball.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Keller is a project. We need a proven back-up, not Tui & sure as hell not Walter.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:08 am
I hope so July 25 we need Nnamdi signed and in camp preferably to a big 5-6 year deal.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Scottish,
He was banned for illicit drugs and SD said he seemed to have “lost his motivation.”
Looks like the dude is finished, why risk exposing our young ones to more trouble? I know we need more depth, but this guy is not the answer…unless we hire Dr. Phil and check him in to the Betty Ford clinic.
At this point in the offseason it is going to be pretty difficult to upgrade the o-line. Hopefully the o-line and d-line are priorities in the next offseason.
Pray that Cable can work more miracles.

June 25th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Dakota,
You’re probably right. I am just really concerned about our lack of alternatives at LT and the search for a credible starter at RT.
I thought McQuistan did a reasonable job at RT for the last five games of the 2007 season. He looked like a possible long-term solution, but he isn’t even getting any RT reps.
We might not yet be desperate enough to take a risk on Olivea, but we aren’t far away.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Hello!!! I found myself,WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 25th, 2008 at 11:29 am
If Keller has shown retention of the playbook since the Spring, it would appear he is already battling Andrew Walter for the #3 spot. Tui was groomed under Gruden, and Kiff appears to be using a similar offensive philosophy as Gruden.
Tui is already the #2, without it being said, although Walter has more potential to be trained-up further. Ironic that Walter still has trade value, where Tui would have none if he were offered up.
At the risk of putting too much faith in the young defensive linemen who appear to be impressing everyone in OTA’s and such — it’s time to package Walter in trade to a team that can better use his talents, in exchange for another WR or offensive lineman. AW could start for any number of teams in this league, and those teams’ GM’s know it. Couldn’t have an easier contract to trade, either.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Wow. That was am insightful article. I’ll admit, I slammed Javon pretty hard. But, it is a pretty sad situation. Hopefully, he’ll seek some sort of help. For his sake and ours.

Kudos to AD for bringing in Keller. We need competition at reserve QB so that a trustworthy #2 emerges and we can trade away Walter - our only player with trade value who we can afford to dump.
I would love Keller to have a great camp, trade Walter (and the big dummy #34?) for some depth at OT, WR or SAM LB, and let Tui finish his otherwise unremarkable NFL career as a loyal Raider third-stringer. #3 QB is the one position where an AD scholarship type player is OK.
I also wouldn’t mind if Walter went somewhere in the NFC and lived up to his talent. He had a relatively good attitude while getting pummelled 2 years ago, and deserves better than he’ll get in Alameda.
Food for thought: Can you imagine how Gannon would have reacted if he were the starter under Walsh/Shell? NUCLEAR. In that scenario, I actually think Gannon would have gotten Shell fired mid-season.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Jordan for Shockey is an absolute pipe dream. Jordan essentially has no trade value because of his inflated contract. The Raiders will just have to cut him loose. Everybody knows it. Plus, while I would definitely like to see Shockey in Silver & Black, I doubt the Raiders would want to do that to Z. Miller after the promise he showed as a rookie.
Shockey is an OK blocker, not great but servicable, but he is a great playmaker who the Giants have under-utilized for years. He’d definitely be a great personality fit in Oakland. Fiery, tough and a bit of a headcase. I remember watching this Giants-Eagles playoff game at a bar two years ago, and the place just went berserk on this play by Shockey:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx02CbpPcGY
———
Walter doesn’t seem to fit. He never had a great opportunity, but I don’t like QBs with zero mobility. You could point to the game’s top 2 QBs and say that mobility doesn’t matter. But Brady and Manning both are excellent at avoiding the first wave of pass-rushers and then hitting an open receiver — usually for a big gain.
Walter is more in the mold of Kerry Collins and Drew Bledsoe. Those guys both had decent careers behind a pair of big arms, but they’re absolute statues and turnover machines. That’s why their careers are finishing up as backups. Bledsoe, Collins and Walter all still have elite arms, but the immobility of all three makes them prone to an excessive number of turnovers and sacks.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Scottish — Almost without exception, every one of the “problem child” players let loose in the past year, has done something to further their suspensions, or otherwise add to their bad reputations.
How many times on this board have we seen guys crying for a player (Henry, Thurman, et al) who ends up being at least as bad (or stupid) as his rep? Every time that happens to a player who occupies a coveted roster-spot, it moves the team back, not forward.
We want football questions and answers, not questions of character. Look at the hype surrounding Javon Walker — a guy who appears to have done nothing other than exersize his right to be stupid at times.
Imagine what it would’ve been like if this happened on a night off a few months from now. Assuming Javon is worth the money (even half the money) of his contract, this event would’ve been devastating to a team that needs every player to be responsible for his actions — on and off the field.
Characters, yes. But, no more players of questionable character.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Shockey is a white Randy Moss. He’ll show up when winning but become a distracting headcase on a losing team. We just dumped a few players with similar mental shortcomings (Porter, Fabe, Brayton) and we’re about to jettison our last example: Lamont “I may be outta shape, but at least I don’t know the playbook” Jordan.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:57 am
OK, maybe not our last example. MeAngelo Hall and Walker certainly need to prove they are grown men when winning AND losing.

June 25th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Our QB situation is baaaaaad if J.R. goes down. Tui is worse than McCown who would have been a good back-up/mentor/role model for JaMarcus. He’s the type of guy that could come in for a couple games and run the offense o.k. Tui is terrible and Walter doesn’t fit the scheme. Keller is merely camp fodder - I’m sure he’ll be better than Otis and Meyer, but he’s in the same mold of Walter, tall and slow, except not as good. We need a vet than has won some games in this league - Leftwich is still out there and I thought he was better than Culpepper, who is also still out there. Culpepper obviously doesn’t want to be a mentor and still considers himself a starter, so his attitude can go someplace else. Leftwich has won some games without Randy Moss and would probably appreciate the opportunity - he’s not mobile, but he could hand the ball off and make some plays off play action, something that Tui can’t do because he can’t see the field. Losing McCown and his one year of experience in the system hurt us because we could have had an open competition for the other QB spot with Walter - we should have gone after Andre Woodson or Dennis Dixon as developmental players - Right now we’ve got 6 QB’s with something like 10 games of NFL experience between them. We have to go after somebody that has done it at this level.

Shockey is an id1ot… no brain, just talk… why on earth would we want a cancer like that on our roster??? he’s been out for a year, and Miller is better!
June 25th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
JR won’t go down because we will be running the ball 30-40 times per game. Kiffin is going to do what Gruden did not, which is listen to Davis and throw deep once in a while.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
LMN - You could show up to our country in your uniform because our uniforms are sitting in another country helping someone else.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Gruden had a QB with poor downfield arm strength and WRs who couldn’t run past anybody. I don’t blame him for not going downfield. I blame Gruden for being too conservative, especially when we had the heady vets necessary to execute risky gameplan (which Trestman DID do after we traded Chucky).
June 25th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
LMN…#36 Very good point there, Miller should be an ALL-PRO for many years.
Who you got in the match. Germany or Turkey?
June 25th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Keller is a nice addition of talent. I thought he was going to stick and he got cut so I’m happy to see him back. Hes has to be better than Meyer and Otis. The thing that concerns me about Tui is that Gruden drafted him but Gruden didn’t pick him up when he was a free agent and Gruden has no problem picking up 12 QB’s at one time. Why would the man that supposedly drafted him to be the successor to Gannon, not pick him up and give him a tryout? I honestly don’t see Keller being better than Walter.
Walter was a 3 year starter who wasn’t injury prone until he hurt his shoulder his senior year. He got beat down in the Shell/Walsh era and continued to get up again and again. Hes tough and more polished than Keller.

June 25th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
I agree with the poster who wants Olivea - having a bonified starter at ROT would be key for us - it will allow us to send Miller out into pass patterns more often and help out whoever starts at LT with the FB or RB. The core of our line should be o.k. with Gallery, Wade (or whoever beats him out, by the way, bring in LeCharles Bentley please), and Carlisle. None of our OT’s are upper eschelon players so JR won’t know where the pressure is coming from because he’ll have to consistely focus on both edges. All we need is one stud at either one of the OT positions and we won’t have to compromise our scheme too much by keeping in extra blockers. Adding McFadden will definetly help by keeping the D honest with draws, screens, motion to the slot, etc. but in those 2 minute situations or if we get behind and are forced into obvious passing situations, we’re going to be hurting, but not as bad as last year since we added some speed at WR and JR has the arm to get the ball down the field.
I feel with the new talent, another year in the system, and our weak schedule, and how close we were to winning 5 more games last year we should win 10-12 games this year on paper, but we’re not going to go far in the playoffs (if things work out) having to compensate for two sub-par OT’s that will constrict our scheme in the pass game. Obviously the goal is the super bowl, so needs at OT and Dline still need to be addressed over the next couple of years before we’re legit contenders.

Ever heard Shockey speak? He doesn’t respect anybody, and he has the same surly attitude even when in a good mood. Shockey’s just another spoiled, slightly over-rated ego case — with a limited vocabulary filled with “me’s” and “I’s.” Why do we want to keep adding “me-first” guys to this roster? Egos are fine, but team-players are what this team needs — no matter how good a guy is.
June 25th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Lorenzen is worth a look. He’s got a big arm and might actually be better than Tui, Walter and Keller. He’s not great but he should definitely land another job somewhere in the league.
Leftwich was awesome in college and showed some nice flashes as a pro. If he wasn’t so injury prone he’d be starting somewhere in 2008. I’d rather have him than Culpepper or any other free agent QB, if the price is right.
Leftwich is as good or better than half the starting QBs in the league, IMO.

FYI
In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration has prohibited the use of the word “ketchup” on product labels unless the product conforms to a set of strict guidelines. Despite the more general origins of the word, all products marketed as ketchup in the United States must be thickened only with tomato solids, and the viscosity of the sauce must be within a very narrow range. The nutrient content of the sauce is also tightly regulated.
Ketchup has been shown to provide significant health benefits but many argue that these benefits are counterbalanced by the food’s salt and sugar content. Ketchup has been found to be a beneficial source of lycopene, an antioxidant which may help prevent some forms of cancer. This is particularly true of the organic brands of ketchup. In fact, organic brands were found to contain three times as much lycopene as non-organic brands

I get your point, the similarities are general, the ball was round, but made of stone. I was just re-iterating your point that soccer is the worlds most popular sport and similar versions of the sport have been played for hundreds of years.
Football is still so much more entertaining than soccer in my opinion. Personally in order to enjoy soccer I must have a vested interest, unlike basketball or football where I can still enjoy watching watching the game even if my favorite teams aren’t involved.

yup =)true, I understand why…
but remember soccer as it is played in the US is mostly boring to us as well , it has nothing to do with real soccer, and you need to follow it for at least 2 years to understand the formations, tactics and the reasons behind the changes before and during a game… and by follow it. I mean the Champions league, the Uefa cup, and the national leagues plus the national teams games…

Plus I’am not sure the ol’ lady, would go for having to park her car outside the garage again, just made room for it not to long ago.
Damn nice looking table though, that would get me back into the game, I hung my sticks up a few years back..

the World cup has very little to do with real soccer too…
its the clubs, who let you understand how the game works. The National teams play after a philosophy… the clubs are in for the money! and they have multiple nationalities on their roster…
World Cup is dead last in priority! Euro Cup, is way harder than the World cup, I know it doesn’t seem logic, but is true…
remember if the US team tried to qualify to the Euro Cup, even small nations with 1 million inhabitants would smash your… By that I mean, the quality of the world cup is much lower than the Euro cup…
but the real deal are Champions league and Uefa Cup.. thats where it happens… national teams are a holiday compared to the clubs =)

You can also get Raider themed balls with a rival team as the other balls. For me solids would be the Raiders and stripes would be the Chiefs. I would probably puke if I saw Bronco balls on my pool table!
As far as being able to actually own the table and get the spousal clearance like you mentioned, it would take a little work. I can be very persuasive.

Actually, I don’t have to imagaine — I’m married to a Brazilian and was in Brazil when they won their last one in 2002. It’s a HUGE deal. After reading that article on ESPN.com about Javon today I now realize that there are some bigger issues at work here. Serious emotional issues. I don’t know about any of you guys, but I have never had anyone die in my arms, let alone a good friend.
I just hope he can find peace in his life, because if he doesn’t it WILL manifest itself on the field either by poor play or by just plain losing his desire to succeed.
Javon Walker needs to see a grief counselor and stop running from his pain. Learn from it, use it as strength and move on. He is probably still stuck on January 1, 2007.

Great point, you may be right about addiction problems. Serious grief can only compound those kind of problems. Sometimes serious grief can even cause addiction. Anything to hide from feelings that are too hard to face.
Then again Javon could just be a compulsive gambler/champagne sprayer that does blow like his name is Tony Montana. But I have a feeling it runs deeper than that.
Either way he needs to get his S together soon. I just hope football is his only sanctuary and he pours everything he has into it. I won’t hold my breath though.

you are absolutely right if you only think about merits (merits and knowledge isn’t comparable) … but the italian coach Lippi who won the World Cup with italy and who will become caoch again after Donadoni…said it as well, so did Klinsmann…. they won everything…
another argument that the european leagues are harder than the world cup…The entire brazil team all plays for European teams…
If you took Man U (winners of Chp League) and played them against brazil, Brazil would lose…
In spain you first root for your local team, then for the biggest team in spain (usually barca/Real) and lastly their national team… uhh and btw, its just as huge in spain as in Brazil… so it paint the picture pretty well…

well yeah!! have in mind we are only about 5.5m here! and most people here was against it, then its a lot, go do the percentage…
640 / 5,500,000*100 = 0.011%
33,000 / 300,000,000 = 0.011&
Funny isn’t it =)
what you need to have in mind, is how many nations do you have as allies ?? not that many, this is more a game of numbers of nations, than a game of soldiers!

If I lived in Denmark maybe I would just have to call in the government to fix my proken prinkler…gladly worth 60% of my income!
June 25th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Dakota,
You may be right about the US’s contributions in WWII, not to mention WWI as well, but other than that we have offered very little in contributing to rest of the world’s advancement during our nation’s brief existence. Don’t be suprised by the way others look upon us.
Sincerely,

I guess I was wrong about the sprinkler system then. That’s good news anyway.
On another note I hear that the Beard may be headed to Detroit.

Dogg,
I heard that…Wallace and Chauncey for the Beard???
Do you like that deal?
June 25th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Dakota -
Not really, mostly because of the age difference. The Beard is much younger. I would rather have Marcus Camby than Rasheed Wallace, although Rasheed plays his heart out when he wants to. The Warriors need a big man desperately.
Monte Ellis is the future so they will be all right without BD, but if the W’s are going to deal The Beard they need to get a big man in return somehow.
June 25th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Sorry, Dakota. The Russians won the war in Europe. 75% of all German casualties were inflicted by the Russians.
June 25th, 2008 at 3:44 pm

June 25th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Hate that deal. Mr. Bigshot hasn’t hit a big shot in years, and Wallace will pout and drive all the fans crazy. Gotta keep the Beard!!!

It’s just that America has the highest Murder rate in the World outside of South Africa and Zimbabwe,
Has more people in prison than ANY nation on earth
Has the highest Divorce rate on earth.
And has to import it’s scientists and engineers.

Who the heck is Keller?…hopefully this means Marc Wilson Jr will be let go,…Walter sucks.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Sorry Kirk, looks like you need a history lesson:
Without the lend-lease agreement (look it up) between the US and USSR, and the US lead bombing of Germany destroying its infrastructure and crippling its ability to wage war, and the subsequent invasion of France, most of Europe would be speaking German right now.
The USSR did kick some @zz, and faught valliantly to save Moscow and Stalingrad, but without out our help with equipment supplies they would only have been able to eject Germany from thier own boarders…maybe.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I think we should go after S-Jimmy Williams. think about, G.Wilson with J.Williams side by side and M.Huff as back up. Nice Right. that is if J.Williams can play like the star that he is suposed too. if he does than we just might be able to trade M.Huff for a O.Tackle or a S.S. linebacker or even a decent WR

June 25th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Well, I’m leaving now, goodbye.
Just wanted to get everyone to stop talking politics, because real men don’t talk politics. Real men just keep filling the buckets. Pay not attention to what the big man is doing. Earn your keep. And have faith in your country and in the good lord. Everything will work out. Avoid any intellectual activities. Do not ever read. Reading is for liberal elitists. Read only the bible, and the scrolling bar on the bottom of the screen on FoxNews.
Don’t bother responding.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Raider4life,…those two, Koolkell and his girlfriend Dakota,..they are lifeless losers who cant exit the blog that they live in,..they ran out of dumb stuff to post about the Raiders,..so now they make idiots of themselves posting about other stuff they know nothing of.

June 25th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Dakota, WWII is politics. It’s not Raiders. Raider football only. Enough. Nobody wants to hear about what you read in your gay little books. Books are for homos. Real men only read the bible and the scroll bar on foxnews, nothing else. Understand, queer?

Well, then, since you put CNN lower than Foxnews, you’re okay in my book, Camel Jockey. But at least you’re not doing the gay thing and quoting history and talking about your ideas, like some of these queers in here. They can take their world views to San Fran Sicko. Real Raider fans and real Americans don’t want to hear it. I’ve never read a book in my life. I don’t have to, because I’m going to heaven.

It’s too bad the country is against mormons. Mitt Romney is the only choice!!!!
He brought the olympic committee together and now they’re out of the red. He brought the most liberal state out of the red (mass). I call it the welfare state. Although I’m all Irish get Kennedy and his spending pricks out of washington! Guess what… our country is in red and i want someone with a track record to develop us again. Not a preacher or a soldier. No disrespect to soldier. I was one but I am not presidential or can handle cutting through the bs that Mitt Romney has successfully done in the Olympics and Mass. I’m sorry.. someone tell me what BO has done. What are his accomplishments?
Dakota… wow… we’re against the world here. Although, i don’t know if you like romney.

Barack has inspired the country in the way Ronald Reagan and JFK did, all with little Washington experience.
If you want Washington experience look at Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfield, they might be available.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Sapp says…
How would you describe your experience with the Raiders?
As dark as a black hole. Stuff went on in that organization that shouldn’t go on in sports. I don’t think there’s one person who knows who or what is making the call. Let’s just say the Oakland experience is unique. The phone rings quite a bit on that sideline. Insubordination is grounds for termination in any company.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
i’m looking for accomplishments not experience. i don’t know what being inspired means. I’m self motivated. He has had everything spoon fed to him. Watch cnn/fox and the next day BO gives a speech saying exactly what they said he needs to say. It’s hilarious. HC destroyed him in debates. No one was there to give him answers. THat’s why HC was so upset that she always answered questions first. I don’t want a puppet, i want a leader.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:01 pm

June 25th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Jim, Obama has accomplished nothing, just like George W. Bush. And he’s going to win, just like him, because his image resonates. That’s all there is to it. Doesn’t matter what the issues are. It matters how good you look on television. It’s a popularity contest. Has been for years. That backed with money. Otherwise, you or I could run. Just get used to the fact that a brotha’s going to be in the white house next January. Try not to commit suicide.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
GB also won because of his loving brother stealing FLA during his first term.
I just think its funny all of this band wagon jumping. I’m disappointed the one man who can change things won’t be elected because of his religion. The south destroyed him because of it. I guess that’s why the south is still low paid. Sorry south raiders.. that was just bitterness.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Jim, Americans are stupid, stupid people. That’s why we had Bush. That’s why we had Clinton. That’s why we had Reagan. All of these men were more crooked than a barrel of snakes. Yet we voted for them. Why? Cause we liked them. We didn’t need a better reason. Americans are simple and dumb like that. And this time, Obama’s the man. You can pound your fist in the wall all you want to over the fact that nobody will pay attention to his record, and what have you. They don’t care. That’s boring to them. They want gratification, right now. That’s why their fat asses sit in long lines at Jack in the Box, because they want their milk shake, right now. Never mind that they’re pre diabetic and have high blood pressure. Doesn’t matter. They want a milk shake. And they want Obama. 8 years ago, they wanted that cool Bush guy from Texas. That’s your country. And if you’re in denial of that, then you’re just a delusional, high brow, intellectual version of the same brand of idiot they are. God bless America.

June 25th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Frankly, I don’t know his Illinois State record. But obviously he was good enough to get to the US Senate.
But that’s beside the point now. The choice is Obama or McCain. Republican policies have run the country into the ditch. People want a Democrat, especially one from outside Washington and offers so much promise.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
pretty slick with the 1 hahaha
June 25th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
i don’t vote names, colors, or parties. Don’t worry what the rest of the country wants. Vote for the best candidate. If you don’t know anything about them then how do you know they’re the best for the position. COnsider the country as your personal business and you need to hire someone who can get goals accomplished. Know who you’re voting for.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Well if you find someone beside Obama/McCain running for president this year, let me know?
June 25th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
by the way, in america we can vote for anyone. not just the democrats or republican nominations. THere are many different parties we can vote. Don’t ever let anyone confine your voting choices. We fought too long and hard to have our voice heard. No one can ever tell me i have to choose between two people.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
There are about 10 others… have you ever voted before?
June 25th, 2008 at 5:58 pm

June 25th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
You can write in Mitt Romney if you want, I don’t get the point, but you can do it. He’s supporting McCain btw. If you think the country in going in the right direction, just say so.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
i’m sorry.. what exactly has obama said he will change. please give specifics and details.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
No, if you’re interested you can go to his website. So Why is John McCain good for America at this point in history?
June 25th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
The economy has not prospered under the Republican Trickle Down theory. It functioned much better when Democrat Bill Clinton was in charge.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
i’m not voting for jm. i told you that. I don’t want a soldier to run our economics. Trickle down was in the 80s. Clinton sold us to china. I’m not rep or dem so i’m a little more open about the over all situation of our country. again, i don’t vote parties. i just asked you why you are on the band wagon and you basically said you’ll vote dem regardless and it’s an anti vote against the way things are. Is that correct? If so, i just warn you that when you’re not on the road you want to be taking the next left turn (haha get it) doesn’t mean your going closer to the road you want.
Also, our economy does not run in 4 year increments. It over laps into different presidency. In other words, whats done in 90 may not have effect until 93 or so.
by the way, trickle down or voo doo economics (Mr. Stein’s word) is a supplied side. Most companies are anti-supply as they want cash flow.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
congrats to all in and around the raiders org.. Sam is a hidden gem. If he has recievers that have that passion and quick hands he is the man. He throws a good fast ball.If you look at any game he’s been in ,you will see a few mistakes on his part ,but alot on the recieving end.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
see you all. i’m going to get a nice juicy steak, mashed potatoes and a heineken and wake up 10lbs heavier!
June 25th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
The economy responds to policy. Responds well to Democratic economic and tax policy, and responds poorly to Republican policy according to anecdotal evidence.
Trickle down was STARTED in the 80’s under Reagan, and has been Republican economic policy ever since. Much to the detriment of working taxpayers. Put our Country up to it’s arse in debt to the Chinese, and atrophied our infrastructure.
Corporations get richer & richer, headquater themselves in overseas tax havens, then send troops overseas to protect their assets and play with our treasury as if it were their own piggybank.
The next president WILL BE Obama or McCain, period. Who would you prefer?

Kool Kell, John McCain is a tool for the oil and military industries. Frankly, those VC’s should have killed him. His life would be worth more in that instance than what it is today. He’s an empty suit. Dude had balls when he ran against Bush in the Rep primaries in ‘00. Bush played on good ole Southern racism to take him down. Had his callers tell people McCain fathere’d a little black baby. Sold hook line and sinker. Only to those dumb racist rednecks. McCain should have gone independent then and there. He didn’t. He decided to suck Republican co*k and he’s been on it since. The most he gets out of it is this very nomination. Obama’s going to slaughter him in November. Why? Obama’s cooler. And that’s all Americans care about at the end of the day. Don’t ever forget it.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Obama’s going to torture McCain this fall, Charlie style…
June 25th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Keller is a disciple of the Bill Callahan west coast offense. I am excited.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Kool aid drinkers…is there any player Al Davis has ever signed where you guys didn’t try to sell him on us as being a possible great Raiders reclamation project that will be part of a unit that will propel us to multiple Super Bowl victories? Don’t you just ever look at a guy and say, “why’d we sign this bum?”, like normal sports fans with actual brains? Just asking.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Raiders 4 life that comment about the vc killing McCain is pretty disgraceful for anybody to say. Have some respect for something man. Just because you are online doesn’t mean you have talk like an idiot.
why the hell has the past 50-60 comments been about politics?!!
June 25th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Dick V, when did we ever use the Bill Callahan west coast offense? When did any NFL team? If you’re referring to the 2002 offense, that was Gruden’s. It was Gruden’s passing offense. That’s all it was. I’m sorry you thought it was anything else.

Dick V, why should anyone respect John McCain? He’s an empty suit, at the control of the puppets who control the republican party, the energy, oil, and military industries. There is no reason to respect such a pathetic human being. Charlie killing him would have just done him a favor, considering what he turned out to be in his elder years, wouldn’t you think?

…..
I hope you were. And about the Bill Callahan thing, too.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Callahan used it at Nebraska genuis. I know this is a Raider blog, but we can watch college football too. Keller was the Cornhusker QB who ran the west coast offense for Callahan. Try to keep up. I know everyhting is little too fast for you.
Based off your vc-mcain comment, I am guessing you are drunk so I won’t think any less of you.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Holy crap, you were serious.
Listen, and try and understand this:
Callahan did nothing as head coach of the Raiders other than yell and pretend to be a coach.
Everything we did in ‘02 was an expansion of Gruden’s passing offense. And who cares what Callahan did in Nebraska, and what connections Hellen Keller might have to it. Do we have any college teams on our schedule this year?
McCain is an empty suit, living a meaningless live. You know it and I know it. And he’s going to get slaughtered by Barack. You know that, too. You know your country. You know the presidential race is nothing more than a prom vote anymore. Obama’s just cooler. End of story. McCain sold his soul. He’s weak. That’s probably how the VC captured him to begin with,
June 25th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Dick
being drunk isnt that bad it numbs my reality……..
June 25th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
McCain supporters are drunk on hopeless optimism.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
I wasn’t being sarcastic about the vc-mccain post. You really need to have more respect than that. Regardless of who you are voting for.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
McCain supporters are praying, praying that white people will come out in droves to vote against the black candidate. It’s their only prayer at this point. They’ve already tried to nail Obama on every single issue from national security to religion. Obama’s ahead by 15 points in latest poll. Fear of a black planet is all they have left.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Dick V, request denied. No respect for empty suits that shill for the Republican party. I actually have more respect for W. Bush than I do McCain, and Bush is retarded. So that tells you where McCain stands with me. No spine. No charisma. Just an awful candidate. You republicans are screwed with him, Dick V, in the worst way. You’d better just pray that racism is still alive in America, as much as it’s always been. It’s McCain’s only hope at this point.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Sam Keller played in the west coast offense for Bill Callahan the last couple of years at Nebraska. He will not matter come the regular season because he will be cut, but the fact is that he knows the west coast offense. He is a bill callahan disciple for better or worse. Based off of the fact that he has barely made a roster and did not get drafted, it is probabaly for worse.
Just come back tommorrow when you sober up. It will be easier to follow then.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Dick, nobody cares what Hellen Keller did at Nebraska. Kiffin likes to run the ball. And after Kiffin is gone, Lofton will be airing it out in Al Davis’s leather helmet vertical offense. Hellen Keller is useless. Call a spade a spade. I don’t expect a McCain supporter to have the ability to do that, but you have to try.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Dick, drunk or sober, I can handle you.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Why are you so sure that I am Republican? how do you know that I am not voting for Obama. Why do you keep insinuating that I am white or that you have to be white to like McCain?
Your drunken babble is what offends me not the fact that Obama will be the 43 or 44th president just depending on how you count it.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Dick V, what is your point? Why would you even bring up Callahan? You’re trying to make Hellen Keller look good, aren’t you? You’re trying to make this look as if Al Davis plucked another diamond out of the rough, aren’t you? Stop lying. I just called you on it. Don’t pretend now that you were bringing up Callahan as a negative. The optimism freaking oozed from your first post. Al Davis couldn’t pick a diamond shining right in front of his face, anymore, let alone out of the rough. The last diamond he picked out of the rough, as far as we know, was Jon Gruden.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
actually there are alot of football fans on this site that do keep up with highschool, college and the rest of the pro game.
The fact is that you didn’t know Callahan was at Nebraska for the past couple of years and you did not pick up on the connection between Keller and Callahan.
you will get it tommorrow when you sober up.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Dick V, I never said you were white. But thanks for telling me. It’s not that I couldn’t tell. Only a white person would stick up for McCain in the nostalgic, pouting way you did. Black people, or any minority, for that matter, don’t have the time for a worthless human being like McCain. Only clueless white people do. Thanks for revealing yourself as one of them.

My point is that you are idiot and everyone that will read your blogs posts will recognize that.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Dick V, Bill Callahan is irrelevant to any Raider related conversation. He was Gruden’s line coach. That’s all he ever was, even after Gruden left. I don’t care what his title was. Tressman and Gannon ran the team after Gruden left. Callahan walked around and yelled.
Nebraska is irrelevant. There is no reason to bring up Hellen Keller’s connection to Callahan and Nebraska unless you’re making some lame attempt to make it look as if Al Davis made a good call by bringing him in. That’s what you were doing, wasn’t it? Of course it was. You wanted to convince us Hellen Keller was going to be a Rich Gannon sitting on the bench, for when Fat Albert inevitably gets broken in half this year. And you were wrong. Don’t try and back peddle now.

I couldn’t stomach the way raider4life/ camel jockey was posting and purposely trying to get people riled up. That isn’t good for anyone. they probably should just take down this whole blog entry. Way too much politics on this one. And those comments just are way too dumb to be allowed on this site. I would hat to see this blog get delayed like PFT waiting for a moderator to read the posts but those kind of comments would not make it on the baord.

Whats the deal with Namdi? Is he going to get a long term deal? The fact that he is not signing the tender is also starting to scare me. What the hell is going on? I though Lane said he expected Namdi in soon?
June 25th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
McCain, Hill-Bill and Obama were walking down th road and came across a homeless man… John gave him a $20 bill and offered him a job.. hill-bill was so impressed the next homless person she came across; she gave him a $20 bill–from McCains pocket, pointed to the wellfare office then took $15 to pay for admin fees.. when Obama came across the next homeless person he said “beleive in hope and change, its coming” then walked away. The homeless guy was so bitter that he grabbed a bible and a gun.
June 25th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Wow. Good to see Maddenloser or Debartoloraider or MoRon as he likes to be called has been in here posting as me again. Wow, Looks like this qualifies as another MR official meltdown. Just goes to prove I own that 49er loving racist gay homophobe. Hey MR how does my ass taste???
June 25th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Why would a presidential candidate choose to avoid placing his hand on his heart during the national anthem?
Is it a coincidence that this is the presidential candidate endorsed by Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam, the New Black Panther Party and other anti-white and anti-semitic hate groups?
Is it anything less than a double standard and complete bigotry when Obama stereotypes with the phrase “typical white person”, knowing that if Hillary Clinton, John McCain or any other non-African American recast the same phrase in the form of ‘typical black person’ they would themselves be cast a racist and their resignation demanded?
June 25th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Oakglenn, good to see ya. Wasn’t me posting under your name. But you’re set on your ways and I’d hate to let a simple fact interfere with your conspiracy theory.
And, “gay homophobe”, huh? Think about that one, Oakglenn. We’ll just chalk it up as a classic Oakglenn moment.
But Oakglenn, before we get to your claim of pulling chicks, let us talk about Walker for a moment.
Remember him?
Remember when we signed him?
Remember how you had him pegged for another great reclamation project, something in the mold of Ted Hendricks or Jim Plunkett?
Now, he might be. We’re yet to find out.
But Oakglenn, you’ve already given up on him. You’re bashing the guy now. But interestingly enough, you seem to be leaving out one important co-signor to the Walker deal, one Al Davis.
Walker didn’t sign himself, Oakglenn. Couldn’t Al Davis see the underachieving party animal in him before inking him? Surely the owner who hasn’t lost a step and still understands the modern day game understood that there was a reason both GB and Denver wouldn’t give Walker a dime, right? Remember, Oakglenn, we didn’t win Walker in a bidding war. We took the guy out of a trash dumpster….and made him a higher paid receiver than Terrel Owens.
Now, to your pimping ways, Oakglenn. Oh yes, he who “pulls chicks”. How many today, Oak? Remember…even us Raider fans only count them if they weigh less than 200 lbs. No fatties. Maybe for marriage, family, sure. What the heck. All about what’s on the inside. But not for the guy who brags on blogs that he “pulls chicks” in his nice car. We expect a little more out of you.
Oakglenn, do these “chicks” know how many melt downs you’ve had on this blog?
Do they know that you spent Easter Sunday contacting administrators, AT THEIR HOMES, begging them to ban the IP’s of people in here that, well, you basically don’t like?
I mean Oakglenn, what “chick” wouldn’t melt for a guy with such studly ways.
Oh, one last thing, Oak. Jon Gruden’s here with me, and he has a message for Al Davis. Take it away, Chuckie:
“Al Davis, my good man, how’s my ass taste???”
June 25th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
“Obama must go”, according to recent polls, looks like the majority of voters think Obama must stay. Your man’s in trouble. I like McCain, but he’s got Bush III written all over him, and America doesn’t seem to be buying. Obama is not perfect and he’s certainly full of it on some issues, but it’s always about the lesser of two evils in the two party system, and it looks like Obama’s got the edge.
June 25th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
1st when next camp starts we will have our next backup qb either dante or leftwich n Ihope LOREEZEEN CUT FROM NY
June 25th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Wow, Oakglenn, just reviewed today’s activities. No doubt it’s you posting as “Pulling chicks but not Oakglenn”. You know, it’s more like, “Not pulling chicks and I am Oakglenn”.
Again, Oak, you’re caught posting under other people’s names. Something you wined to the administrators about over their own phones on Easter Sunday. This is why they don’t take you seriously, Oak. That, and this thing is all about money, anyway. More posts, more hits, more revenue. Oakglenn, you’re just in a bad spot. Maybe it’s time you high tailed it and left the place.

June 25th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Obama can say whatever he wants, OMG. Did Bush’s “bush-isms” hurt him? No. Heck, they helped him. Americans related to his humility. Obama is a liberal, black version of the same thing. He’s charismatic. The only way to bring him down is with a better candidate (and McCain is far from it). With Obama’s ability to hold a room, and not to mention work a camera, any and all slander will be brushed off of his sleeve like lint.

220 was an excellent post…you’re so right on. Do you ever watch Bill Maher on HBO? He spends most of his show ragging on Bush & Chaney, especially Bush being such an idiot…McCain will be a 4 year re-run of Bush if he wins, but I doubt he will.

Get out of “la-la-land,” and focus on reality.
Maybe you can vote for Ralph Nader, he’ll give you a VW, a dollar off ona gallon of gas coupon and a green apple.

Riverside, considering you’re a Chicano from Riverside I’m going to take a wild guess that you’re Catholic. Will you be seeing Maher’s film this summer? It’s pretty much a documentary film mocking all religion. Maher’s show comes back on HBO in late August. Too bad we know Carlin won’t be on the panel this season.

The best part of this is everyone on the blog can join in just like the crowd did for Shaq. We can all just keep repeating this splendid well thought out mantra: Hey MR how does my ass taste????

That’s it! I’ve had enough! This is my blog, and I won’t take it anymore! I’m now calling the administrators at their homes. I’ll go and visit them if I have to. Yes, this is that serious. This blog is my life!!! Soon as I’m done with that, then it’s off to pull chicks.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Walker is a bum!!! How dare he act like this when Al Davis gave him this opportunity??? Al Davis made him one of the highest paid players in the league! He was supposed to live up to that, even though he hasn’t the talent or maturity to do so, and everyone knew it. It’s why Denver and GB wouldn’t give him a dime. And, perhaps Al should have seen that…but no way!! I will never blame Al! Never!!!! Al made the right choice. Now Walker has to magically turn into Jerry Rice! I’m coming for all of you trolls! Oakglenn, it’s bad enough you’re going on this rampage about pulling chicks and licking butts, but now you’re posting under my name, too? Isn’t this something you’ve railed against, Oakglenn? What a hypocrite. This is exactly why the mods here laugh at you, and ignore you stupid phone messaged. post 395 was not me, people. It was Oakglenn, Mr. Never posts under other names, himself.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down. I’m not melting down.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Another classic MR Meltdown!!! Eat my ass, MR! Eat my ass, Jerry. Eat my ass, Mike Shanarat. I pull chicks!!
June 25th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Wow, Oakglenn. Talk about melting down. post 399 is not me, people. It’s Mr. above and beyond posting under other peoples names, who frequently contacts the mods as their homes to snitch on people who be believes are doing it. How pathetic.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Oakglenn, again, I don’t eat ass. I don’t go near it. Not even on chicks. I stay away from that side of the building. But since you know a lot about it, Oakglenn, how’s Jon Gruden’s ass taste? How’s Mike Shannahan’s ass taste? how’s Kiffin’s ass taste? (future reference)
June 25th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
you’re more of a loser than me MR. How does my ass taste MR
June 25th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Goodnight, Oakglenn. Have fun with the ass play.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Oh, and your chicks, Oakglenn. Because I’m sure you have a harem of them with you by your desktop…even if they’re in other tabs.
See you tomorrow, Oakglenn.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Wow, over 400 posts on a thread about signing a fourth string quarterback! The internet will probably explode if the Raiders actually sign a worthwhile player. By the way, Al loves ketchup poured on his vanilla ice cream. Problem is, he is lactose intolerant and it backs up his system. Which explains the pained expression on his face sometimes.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:15 am
Oh, but Keller is a worthwhile player, Al’s drool cup. He was schooled under the great Bill Callahan, an Al Davis prodigy.
June 26th, 2008 at 2:48 am
I love the Keller signing, I believe that he’ll end up being the #3 Qb. He fits the system better then Andrew Walter. Always liked Walter & I think in the right system (Norv Turner Offense) he’ll do well.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:00 am
Dakota..don’t diss Denmark or the system.
When I lived in California, I paid about 40% in taxes (national and state income taxes) and got nothing but highways, war machines and lousy public secondary schools. Now I pay about 45% and get free medical care, free college for my kid, subsidized child care, which is cheap, my wife gets about 200 bucks a month in child support from the government, I have good public transport so I don’t need a car, AND I get 6 weeks of paid vacation.
I love the U.S. but the system does not compare.

Daily Reminder: This place still sucks
But the new blogmasters seem to be able to write a paragraph or three more often then once every three days.
Question about the shaq how does my butt taste comment?
What does it mean? Did kobe and shack have mansex?
If shack had beat lowbeam up or defeated him in the finals I could understand the comment but it seems out of place unless they had mansex on the downlow.

Its easy to ply all the money stolen from the subjects into goodies for them if you do not have to spend money on defense. The world is not free bubble up and rainbow stew. Someone has to keep shipping lanes open and try to keep any more hitlers from arising.

Dakota…
LOL, you are funny dude, you need to get your facts straight… you are the kind that when you hear something is the best in the US, they must be the best in the world… how many wars have the US won by themselves???
oh yeah you might spend a few minutes on this one =)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties
Soviet Union 168,500,000 23,100,000 13.71%
United Kingdom 47,760,000 450,400 0.94%
United States 131,028,000 418,500 0.32%
So again thank you for joining the rest of the world for the last 2 minutes of the War, so very nice of you, but the Britts help us for 4 years and the Russians won the war. Period…
Dakota you said “From all of us in the US…you are welcome…” I’d like to reply… but most american never did squad!
I’m in awe for the few who did! all your young men who fought in the war, to all those women who was left behind… thank you. A bit late but that wasn’t you fault… It’s a pity that your sons and daughters have become what they have, when you who were young in the 40’s gave so much to the world… now a bunch of fatass americans reaps your legacy… and acts like they did it… sad!
give me some freedom fries and some kasschup!

LMN,
Typical self-serving European drivel. You are too proud to admit we saved your azzes. American money and supplies allowed England and Russia to hold out, and then we came in and finished another one of your European wars.
You just can’t face facts can you…
Lend-lease:
It began in March 1941. A Total of $50.1 billion (equivalent to nearly $700 billion at 2007 prices) worth of supplies were shipped: $31.4 billion to Britain, $11.3 billion to the Soviet Union, $3.2 billion to France and $1.6 billion to China.
The list below is the amount of war materiel shipped to the Soviet Union through the Lend-Lease program from its beginning until 30 September 1945:
Aircraft 14,795
Tanks 7,056
Jeeps 51,503
Trucks 375,883
Motorcycles 35,170
Tractors 8,071
Guns 8,218
Machine guns 131,633
Explosives 345,735 tons
Building equipment valued $10,910,000
Railroad freight cars 11,155
Locomotives 1,981
Cargo ships 90
Submarine hunters 105
Torpedo boats 197
Ship engines 7,784
Food supplies 4,478,000 tons
Machines and equipment $1,078,965,000
Non-ferrous metals 802,000 tons
Petroleum products 2,670,000 tons
Chemicals 842,000 tons
Cotton 106,893,000 tons
Leather 49,860 tons
Tires 3,786,000
Army boots 15,417,001 pairs
But go ahead and belittle the US you irrelevant European elitist. Whatever makes you and your little country feel important.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:31 am
I like elitist…they know things, were the mob clings to their pathetic fantasies…
and again so very nice of you to send some hardware, while the rest of the world helped to win the war with solders..
and again i hope you have a great taste in your mouth, the lend-lease program wasn’t about to end the war, it was about making a profit on war, and others misery… again thank you =)
June 26th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Making profit on war? Our government sure didn’t make a priofit, neither did our taxpayers:
Lend-lease items retained were sold to Britain at the knockdown price of about 10 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR giving an initial value of £1,075 million. Payment was to be stretched out over 50 years at 2% interest. The final payment of $83.3 million (£42.5 million) due on 31 December 2006 (repayment having been deferred on several occasions) was made on 29 December 2006, it being the last working day of the year. After this final payment Britain’s Economic Secretary, Ed Balls, formally thanked the US for its wartime support.

Shane Olivea is a gamble I would take especially at the minimum. He can play period and now hates the bolts what better way to get back at then then go to the raiders and help them get over on you!
Keller is a talant and he will get an oppertunity to show his stuff in napa if he does well tui is gone and our backups are arizona state guys to go with our te. If he isn’t ready they put him on the practice team for the future and try to develope him into the future #2 when andrew goes off to sign a big money deal. but make no mistake those of you that are crying for dilfer or culpeper or a vet that’s not happening andrew won’t get traded he’s way too talented! When he came in he was more effective then the vet starters last year and had a better passer rating then JR for christ sakes! So lay off andrew and the trade take stateing he doesen’t fit kiffins system, you make yourselves sound unintellegent, if kiffin thought he was a bad fit he would’ve been gone! He works with the #2’s because he is the #2 and if JR goes down he is the guy so all you fan better warm up the walters chants if JR gets hurt! He will be more then solid if Kwy-me-a-river Harris is Sims lite!

Compairing how many Russians died by the hands of German solders while they were in Russia and how many American solders died while being sent into Europe(most through Normandy Beach) is pathetic.

Second; row 116; A rookie NEVER led a team through 14 or 16 game season, playoffs and superbowl.david woodley/dan marino was as close as it got.I always personally like AW,rifle arm, needs time 2 develop. Here we go again, but even Stabler sat bench for 4 years.Defences are wayyyy 2 smart and intimidating 4 ayoung QB.If it wasnt 4 JMACs incredible talent and surounding talent,I would be concerned.I dont think AD ever let someone so young take control of THE NATION.Maybe some think AD is walking the plank by putting 1 so young at QB,I dont think so.ITS the #2 QB that I worry about, but like I said I think AW has all the 2 BE sucessfull

June 26th, 2008 at 10:30 am
Bo…
regarding the Marshall Plan…
well the discussion here was who liberated the europeans from the naz1es… not who whelped the rebuilding…
there can be no doubt that all people in europe are in debt to the russians for liberating, and we thank your grand fathers (not you) for supporting the russians…
The Marshall plan was something of the smartest ever to unfold after a war… Germany wouldn’t have become such a power in the 60’s if it hadn’t been for the Marshall plan… but remember… all factories, were bombed to oblivion so we had nothing to start from…. gdasnk is in poland btw…

RED BRYANT UPDATE:
6/19/08 - Red Bryant has made an impression simply because he seems to be so much more than the run-stuffing player the Seahawks thought they may have drafted. Granted, no pads were involved in OTAs, but Bryant regularly beat his man and made some plays that turned heads on more than one occasion. He has zero technique so the coaches think he can only get better.
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=8859
WAY TO GO AL! Thank god we traded up to the top of round four to draft a special teams player instead of a run-stuffing DT. We are solid against the run, lol.

CamelJockey,
You ought to be more careful who you’re calling a moron. Making slurs isn’t enough without any factual reponse. Denmark is a puny, little insignificant country full of warped ideas. Belgium, too. The Soviet Union and the German infantry simply slaughtered each other on the Eastern front. Meanwhile we pulvarized the German industrial machine, won on the western front with help from our stalwart fiends, the British and the Australians, plus we were beat back the Japanese war machine. And what did Denmark do, Belgium do, Switzerland do, Luxemborg, et al? I’m sick to death of listening to a bunch of ingrates whine about America? I lived in Europe and could see quite clearly the poor little things haven’t gotten the hang of being independent. They still wear the yoke of the monarchists and still have their hands out and can’t think beyond the bureaucrat that is going to steal their money and make decisions for them…just the bunch of idiots Voltaire took them for…in need of a non-hereditary autocrat to answer all questions form them…don’t stop Dakota give the little w##nies what they deserve. The modern Bolsheviks is wide spread in this country…they are educated in our colleges, adored in our media…they dream for the hybrid Marxist state…they regurgitate Marx and Engels without even knowing it…and aspire to the lyrics of Imagine…CamelJockey gfys

LMN,
When the US joined the fight…Germany was in control of the Eurpopean continent. Did you miss that one…the Russians were shooting their own men in the back at Stalingrad for running away. I don’t recall the Russians fighting the Japanese, do you. They were busy letting winter do the work for them…fighting a battle of attrition wasting their men in a slow, horrific slaughter, thus boosting the numbers that you are pointing to. Another point, and in 2 and 1/2 years beat 2 entrenched and well supplied and dedicated armies with some help. The point is the Britsh, the Russians, and nevermind the French could only manage a grinding defensive fight, NEVER AN OFFENSIVE FIGHT. YFI.

I have read everything you have written and I still think you come off as elitist and judgemental.
Just my opinion based on everything that I have read you write, not what others have said.
Let me guess, Americans don’t have a mind of their own and are unable to formulate an opinion based on facts? You must be confused with the gross generalizations that you have already created within your mind, that is causing you to miss the big picture.
No point in back pedaling, I know what you said. Your view is so much more narrow than I ever realized.

We don’t need a bunch Euro-centric punks belly-aching about Americans…I heard enough that conceited, arrogant bs when I was there…and Volvo and brie cheesse isn’t enough to get all high-minded and proud about…a lot of American men died there to stop a political movement they did nothing about when they had the chance. YOU CAN”T REWRITE THAT HISTORY…

I agree completely with RaiderDogg. LMN comes off as insufferably smug. Sure, America has its share of problems, but who doesn’t? It ain’t easy being the most powerful nation on earth. Try it sometime. Oh that’s right, you can’t, because you’re weak. And to downplay the role that America played in turning back the Nazis because they didn’t enter until late is like saying that Mariano Rivera didn’t contribute much to the Yankees World Series wins because he only pitched the ninth inning. Shut up and quit while you’re behind, LMN.

From Raiders.com:
Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski is entering his ninth season with the Silver and Black. In eight years, the 6′2″, 250-pound native of Poland has scored a total of 808 points by way of field goals and extra points. The 808 points are currently good enough for third place in scoring in team history.
In 2008, Janikowski could become the all-time leading scorer in Raiders history. K Chris Bahr and Pro Football Hall of Fame QB/K George Blanda sit in front of Janikowski. Bahr scored 817 points during his Raider career which spanned from 1980-88. Blanda spent 1967-75 with the Silver and Black and scored 863 points.
In 2007, Janikowski passed Bahr’s total of made field goals. His 50-yard field goal in the first quarter of the October 28, 2007, contest versus the Titans in Tennessee gave him 163 in his pro career and set a team record for most all-time field goals in the regular season. His third field goal of that game moved him ahead of Bahr for most field goals as a Raider in the regular and post-season.
Janikowski needs just 10 points to move past Bahr into second place, and 56 to move past Blanda and become the all-time leading scorer in Raiders history. Janikowski has averaged 101 points per season since entering the NFL as the Raiders first round choice in the 2000 NFL Draft. He has scored more than 100 points in a season four times during his career.
The former Florida State standout’s 54-yard field goal during the November 25 contest against the Chiefs in Kansas City was his second from that distance in 2007 and tied for the second-longest of his pro career and second-longest in team history. He also converted on a 54-yarder on October 28 against the Titans. Janikowski’s 55-yard field goal in the November 12, 2006, contest against Denver tied his own Raider record set on November 2, 2003, versus the Lions in Detroit.
His five field goals on November 18, 2007, versus the Vikings in Minnesota tied a team record and marked the third time he has accomplished that feat. Janikowski also kicked four field goals on September 23, 2007 against Cleveland. Janikowski almost set an NFL record for longest field goal when he narrowly missed a 64-yard attempt that hit the right upright during the November 4 contest against Houston.

RM- Those stats are a bit misleading IMO. Look to see who is the all-time leader in return yardage. Chris “I’m a whiney b*tch who never returned anything for a touchdown” Carr. Only reason why fatboy will be the leading scoring in Raider history is simply time spent here. Almost every football related site has him rated no higher than #25 in the league this year.
PS Carr did have one INT for a TD

“I always say this: The damn cake was already in the oven,” Sapp said. “It was just a matter of when it came out. All Jon had to do was put the icing on it.”
That’s not a very ringing endorsement of Jon Gruden. Sorry MR
June 26th, 2008 at 11:27 am
I was watching something on the news about there being more cases of type 2 diabetes (the type that’s usually acquired through poor dieting) in the South than anywhere else in the country. They were talking about how it’s a burden on our health care system, and people there are doing little about it in regards to changing their lifestyle. But notice southerners are quick to lecture everyone else on accountability (don’t even get white southerners started on blacks). But evidently they can’t keep themselves out of ER’s from diabetes and overall obesity complications, which is costing all of us.

First point
LMN, We entered the war in 1941, not 1944. Decided to take the easiest one out first, so we took out Italy. Turned our attention to Herr Hitler and then the Japanese.
Because of our pacifist Neutrality Act, we had to trick the Japanese to attack us by cutting off their oil with an embargo. To proceed with their China invasion, they needed the oil. So they attacked us 12-07-1941. Germany foolishly declared war on us 2 days later.
We fought all over the globe to secure Western Civilization and any disrespect of our effort during WW2 is reprehensible. And yes the Japanese even captured American Territory occuping the Aleution Islands of Alaska.
Uncle Joe Stalin killed as many Russians as the Germans and without our help would have fallen to the Germans.

June 26th, 2008 at 11:42 am
LMN,
Obviously, you don’t read anything, but just watch TV. Saying the Russians won WWII is about the most unintelligent thing I have ever heard. You’re the perfect “useful idiot” that Lenin talked about. The ignorant slaughter the Russians perpetrated on their people through bumbling military tactics doesn’t equate to “winning.” The lack of Air power and a Navy at that time doesn’t equate to “winning.” It just meant more dead people than anybody else. Russia simply put people on the front line and got them shot…they weren’t very successful at attacking the infrastructure, the supply lines of Germany. Stalingrad and the Battle of Britain are two the great epic lines in the sand, but were won for very different reasons. There is no way in the world the Russians every would have every been able to propel an offensive strategem without the destruction of the German armaments factories. Just to manage D-Day American engineers had to come up with new technology to be able to supply the military with the means to be able to pull it off. We destroyed the German war machine piece by piece strategically in every phase and then crushed them…the Russians were only able to make progress after the effects of the American design had damaged Germany. It’s true enough the Russians had more bodies to sacrfice and the Germans exhausted themselves on both armies, but to say the Russians “won” the war. That’s just patently stupid.
As far as fat people it must be your neighborhood that you’re talking about…
stick to football…

I liked Metallicas “Kill am all”,..their best record,…been downhill ever since,..unless you dig corporate metal.,…that movie they made, some kind of monster,..um,..not a great idea,..a therapist in their sessions?…ok James,..but youre not a dork though…
June 26th, 2008 at 12:24 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
True story,..2001 season, or 2002,..unsure,..we opened with the chargers and won it at the very end,..low scoring game,…hetfield in the west side club,..i tried to talk to him,….he was being rude to everyone,..was standing up against a wall alone,…drinking coffee,…I spilled a sierra nevada on his boots by accident,…he was a jerk about it,…he was on his sober kick,..he should avoid sobriety,..we all should.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Gruden gets all the credit for blowing the big games when he coached the Raiders.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Ok Bo,..your band is probably more successful,..my bad.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I would take Gruden over Kiffin any day of the week.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
No more hand gun bans under the table from Obama. The people of Illinois rejoice!
June 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
What should we call our band?
How about “Lots of Death”?
No that sounds weak. Wait a minute I think I’ve got it. Instead of “Lots of Death” lets call ourselves MEGADETH! Drop the A in the death to look cool and we are all set!
Lamest band name ever!
June 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Waaatttuuppp Nation?
June 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Did I claim to have aband or post as a successful bandleader?
Sorry Dave, just got no respect for the music or most of the fans. But if it is YOUR band, I’ll respect your professional success.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Is this Raider chat or metal chat?
June 26th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Kind of off-topic but Sapp gave an interview in Tampa and said that his experience was, “…darker than the black hole…”. He said, “…no one know who or what is…” calling the shots. That the sideline phone rings a lot.
This is alarming and disappointing and unfortunate because it means Al Davis continues to be a “problem” in the organization. There is a reason why every effective organization has a clear chain of command and why the top dog should observe that chain of command. If that top guy micromanages to the bottom, the organization becomes ineffective and can fall apart.
This coming season has many potential positives and Kiffin is a good young coach. I sincerely hope Davis keeps his fingers off Kiffin and let him do his job. This is a business after all and I pay good money to see a good product. If Davis forces Kiffin to leave yet again after this season so he can bring in a “yes”-man, I am done, done, done, done. Without coaching continuity, we can have the best players in the universe and the team will behave like a collection of individuals rather than a team.
Getting rid of Gruden was foolish, hiring Turner and then Shell were giant mistakes. If Kiffin is forced out, then Davis is truly losing his ability to manage. He ought to retire and let someone else take over.
This is sad. A good leader always pays attention to who will take over because nothing is certain in life. A good leader ensures the organization continues to thrive and that organization does not exist for one person. It seems Davis does not know this.
Many posters here may flame me over this post but all that needs to be said. Even we all keep quiet, Davis will pass on one day and someone else will take over. What happens then?
No more throwing hard-earned cash into the “black hole”, at least for me. THis is our last year.

Eyepatch, I’m an IL voter and would prefer if none of my neighbors had guns - legal or not.
The NRA propaganda about more guns equaling less crime is a ludicrous lie. A legal handgun in one’s home is MUCH more likely to shoot its owner/family than any criminal.
Charlton Heston, how’s Satan’s azz taste?
June 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
That’s right I did. Thanks eyepatch.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Sapp is just mad at Kiffin for playing him into retirement and Al has his rights if he decides to come back.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
What I want to know is who had the honor of prying that rifle out of Charleton Heston’s cold dead hands.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Yeah right, throw a roll of toilet paper at the intruder in your daughters bedroom I suppose.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:40 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Since theres been way too much political discussion lately and not much Raiders news to talk about (unless we all want to endlessy analyze the Sam Keller signing)….how about something that is at least timely….the NBA draft.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Raider Dog,
Go to ProFootballtalk.com. Gives Dungy credit for the SB win. said the cake just need the icing when Gruden got there.

June 26th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
I have a concealed weapons permit for my Springfield .45 XD subcompact…my wife has a concealed weapons permit for her Smith and Wesson .38. My .45 is loaded with 230 grain Federal Hydrashok rounds, my wife’s is loaded with 110 grain Federal Hydrashok rounds…so we can shoot you and not kill the person behind you…
Safety first!

June 26th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Exla,
Thanks, I’d like to think so.
Hey did you see the Nets traded Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for Yi and some junk??? I was hoping that if we were going to get rid of Lamar, we might have gotten RJ back…oh well. I guess we will have to see if Lamar grow a pair in the offseason.

June 26th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Vegas, did you read that police report?
June 26th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
I do not find anything in that police report that calls for all the hate Walker received on this site in the hours after the attack. Yes, he showed poor judgment by flashing too much bling and getting out of his friend’s vehicle while being very intoxicated, but that is not a crime.
Repent Raider Nation!
June 26th, 2008 at 4:51 pm

—”NFL Network’s Adam Schefter mentions New Orleans, Detroit, and Chicago as possible landing spots for LaMont Jordan. The Bears and Lions are obvious potential suitors, but the Saints may be most needy with Deuce McAllister’s health in serious doubt. Jordan isn’t a power back like Deuce, persay, but would add good competition for Pierre Thomas. He’s also a good fit in a pass-first offense like Sean Payton’s. Jun. 26 - 7:01 p.m. ET”—
June 26th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Just read it Kool, still curious how two unknown, kind of shifty looking guys were all of a sudden able to hang out with a football player. Drai’s can be a dicey place, and he already seemed like he had girls. Should have never left the Hard Rock, which provided him security and probably would have given him a room if he asked.

He was drafted in the 2nd round because of his relatively slow combine speed[1]: a 4.71 40 yard dash.

LMN, as I said in post 567…I didn’t mean for this to turn into a bash LMN session. You manned up and stuck to your guns (even if you are dead wrong, lol)…that is respectable.
I just want to clear one thing up; you made the fatazz Americans statement prior to my statement about Europe@ns being quivering piles of shiit. You first called Americans fatazzes in post 428 or so…my comment was made in comment 450 or so…so please stop using that as an excuse. Your true feelings came out…just live up to it.
I am done with it unless you come asking for more.
June 26th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
OK 1 more!!! Post 728 LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:04 pm

LMN: While you are correct that the Russians spent much more blood than the US in WWII, to those Americans who died, their blood was not “paltry”. And you are getting this from one who is deeply ashamed of Bush, and who agrees with you that many Americans are “fat asses”!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Dang LMN, what happened? I think you kind of stepped in it if you know what I mean.
One thing to know, American men are zealous about our military history. We know the ins and outs of every war, battle and conflict. We know all of the principles, including the enemy, the dates, places, effects and most of all the armament. We have 24hour channels that are dedicated to the history of war and all of their weapons, both sides. I’m not sure if this is a global phenomenon, but it is something that most here share.
You’ve basically started questioning Catholicism to a bunch of guys from The Vatican!!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

no they were not paltry, not at all, they were true heroes, and I respect them and the women left behind very much… its more their grandsons and daughters I have my doubts about =)

You are a great guy.
Thanks for spreading the truth.
Fat people are lazy. So are black people, white people from the South, Mexicans, and Jws.
Hitler was right. Rid the world of all these folks and everyone else will be better off.
Stop by the office and pick up your Nazi decoder ring tomorrow.

June 26th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
LMN,
You could not have known this, but my grandfather and one of his brothers were both in the US Navy and were at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. They both survived and served in the Pacific for nearly 4 years…another of his brothers served in the army and was killed in France sometime in 1944….hence my strong feelings on the subject.

—”According to the Las Vegas Police Department’s arrest report, Javon Walker suffered a broken jaw in addition to a fractured orbital bone and a concussion when he was beaten and robbed on June 16. If Walker is unable to consume solid foods, it’s possible he’ll lose some weight. Walker showed up to minicamps in less than ideal shape, so that might not be the worst thing. But at this point there’s no way of telling if he’ll be ready for training camp. Consider him out indefinitely and a flier pick at best in fantasy drafts until we hear Walker has resumed practicing. Most wars are won by the side that has the best supply chain. In the case of WWII, the ability of the US to provide materials, manufacturing capability and a sizable army ultimaely sealed the fate of the Axis powers.
It is true that Hitler’s armies were first smashed by Russian armies, and the Russians bore the highest number of casualties of ALL nations of the war, but they could not have withstood the German army without US material and manufacturing capability. The T-34 and other equipment was manufactured literally at the front lines, but they needed critical war material to produce them… the is where the US came in to play. If D-Day would not have taken place, I believe that the Russian army would have been ultimately victorious without the US or Britain supplying combat troops in Europe. Of course the threat of D-Day kept German armies tied down in France that could have been redirected to the East, but overall by 1945 the Russians and the US had the best armies in the European theater. which was better? we will never know, fortunately for the world those two armies never faced each other in direct combat.
The United Kingdom was not a match for Germany for in either size of the army, manufacturing capability, or in the leadership of the military. Although Churchill was the best possible person to be in a leadership position for England, the combat generals were not up to par (example: Montgomery was no match for Rommel in the Deserts of N. Africa and could only find victory after Germany was forced to reroute supplies and replacements to the “Eastern Front” to deal with the Russians leaving “Monty” with a 20:1 tank advantage and he still almost didn’t win in Egypt, and we don’t even need to speak of other brilliant moves like “Operation Market Garden”).
The US entered the war and with the aid of SONAR, defeated the U-boats with advances in technology that allowed a build up of forces prior to D-Day. A huge army, with lots of easily repaired tanks and other vehicles, and an unstoppable supply chain is what made the final difference in the war in Europe.
In the Pacific, the US was simply lucky at first, the battle of Midway should have been won by the Japanese. Had that battle turned against the US, the Japanese would have had posession of Hawaii, and Austrailia would have been isolated and likely captured. The US would have needed time to rebuild its fleet and recapture Hawaii, and the war could have easily been extended through 1947 or even into 1950. As it turned out, once the Japanese fleets were turned back in 1942, the the United States and Austrialian forces overpowered the Japanese with superior technology, naval and ground forces… and an unstoppable supply chain.
In summary, you can have the biggest and best trained army, but if you cannot: feed them, provide arms and ammunition, and provide rapid access to medical facilities. You are not going to win a conventional war of any duration.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
LMN: I am usually in agreement with you, but your percentages in post 428, while accurate, don’t tell the whole story. My dad joined up in 1942 and was with “Operation Torch” into N. Africa that year. He fought “up the boot” in Italy until the Invasion of S. France in 1944. Then he proceeded into Germany. While you can argue that alot of US strategy was, at the time, directed towards tying up Nazi divisions to lighten the load on the Russians, he still did what he did for the intended purposes, and I don’t think the contribution of like-minded Americans should be considered a “last Minute” effort, whatever the intentions of Washington. I just ask you: consider the efforts of the men who DID contribute from the US. And while the Marshall Plan was a selfish plan, in a way, (it was designed to create European markets to fuel the US prosperity of the 1950’s), it was a heck of an idea anyway, wasn’t it?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:10 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
A broken Jaw?? If this is true they will just red shirt during camp right?
LMN, my point is that American’s are very “knowledgeable” about our military history because of our high INTEREST in it. I can read different things about our own Civil War dependent on where I am in the US as well.
Now I’m debating this!! You see, that’s how we are!
June 26th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
LMN,
You still don’t get it do you? Last two minutes of the game??? Wow. Let’s do the math: Sept 1, 1939, Germany invades Poland…March 11, 1941, the US begins the lend-lease program…Dec 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor, US enters war…war in Europe ends on May 8, 1945…Japan surrenders on August 14, 1945.
WWII lasted nearly 72 months…the US was involved for 53 months…
Whatever…go ahead and keep lying to yourself.

Back up your statement with some facts…I provided plenty of facts…the US government, otherwise known as American taxpayers, took huge losses…and if we had not provided the materials needed by England and Russia, again, you would be speaking German right now.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Monty might not be considered a big character of the war, but after the war he is the sole reason why DK wasn’t under sovjet rule… US and USSR had agreed upon that DK would become under their jurisdiction, But thank God, Monty convinced Churchill to argue the case for the americans that we should get under English jurisdiction…
That would be strategical important during the cold war because we control access to the Eastern See, and by that most of the sovjet northern fleet… after the cold war we learned DK would be USSR’s first nuclear target :/
But being under English Jurisdiction meant we became a part of the free world, got a part in the marshall plan and became a full blown member of NATO, was under Amercian protection during the cold war, and could develop a prosperous life as a member of the EU…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Dakota…
yup, get your point, and i’ve replied it with “thank you for the hard ware”
June 26th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Dakota
the lend lease program, meant that we were enslaved to use amercan products for several years, forced to trade with american companies, no real free market. Which meant those companies knew they could turn up the price… we got out of those agreements about 1972… just in time for the down turn, the first oil crisis… had we been forced to trade with american companies during the oil crisis, we would have been bankrupt in the 80’s…
Not that it wasn’t hard enough…
you maybe didn’t get them back in direct way, but Europe sure payed for the lend lease program…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
LMN: Was lend-lease about profit? YES. Little this country does is not bound up in profit. But at least opposing the Nazis is something for us sons of US fighters to be proud of. And I must say, of all the posters in this blog, your posts are among the few I consistently agree with. So, post on, my friend, post on!
June 26th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
“But at least opposing the Nazis is something for us sons of US fighters to be proud of.”
Damn right…
My grand father was nothing but a school teacher, but he hit freedom fighters, and stole German equipment..
of course thats nothing compared to others, in fact its pitiful. But i’m still proud of it…
He was On G3stapo’s list because prior to the war he had spoken publicly that what went on below the boarder, was Hell on earth… He lived 10 miles form the german boarder so he knew it was bad in 37…
He died when I was 6 or something, but I’ve read his journal… quite exciting, but of course pretty meaningless, when you look at he big picture =)
June 26th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Whoops that came out wrong… let me correct =)

at the least the man can take a hint. I think I will go on a Danish blog and talk mad sh*t about how stupid they all are. You aren’t very smart are you LMN?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
LMN: Yes, be proud of your grandfather! I am a little too. My grandfather was Danish, and no country or group has a monopoly on heroism during this dark time.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
LMN,
You should be very proud of your Grandfather and his actions. Everyone that contributed should be proud…that is our point; quit minimizing the US’s contribution to WWII…you are spitting in our face, and frankly, many of us over here are tired of it.
At the time of the lend-lease you gladly took our supplies, materials, and money…which Europe would not have survived without, and now, 60 years later here you are minimizing it and crying about having to pay some of it back and calling it profiteering. Can’t you see why some of us have a problem with that? Don’t you see what an insult that is?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Have you guys read the police report for the Walker robbery. That’s messed up. He was with his girl and got duped into getting in their car in front of the Bellagio. Idiot sat in the front seat and got choke held from behind while the other guy beat the crap out of him!! They had been following him for a couple of hours. Those mothers are going down hard!!!

Saint,
That report cleared some things up, like the fact that he was stalked and victimized, and that the champagne spraying had nothing to do with it, and that he never claimed to have been abducted from his room…but I would love to know what those guys said to him to induce him into their vehicle…
if he was drunk enough it could have been something as simple as them telling him they knew of a great party…or was he looking to score some drugs??? Probably not looking for a street beaver because he had a woman with him…unless she was a dog…
We may never know…

June 26th, 2008 at 9:18 pm

Is your life so empty and meaningless that you have to spend endless hours in a blog posting about a football player that doesnt even know you exist? Get a life of your own Dakota.

By the way, the term, “Real world”, means any form of life not in a blog, as far as youre concerned anyway. Why dont you and your wife sit around and talk about how important you both are due to having gun permits. Dakota you get worse every day.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
You are getting better poopy…but not quite there yet…keep trying.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Dakota, you see, this is my point. You ask me what do I want to talk about? Dakota, this isnt talking. You have lost what was once reality in cyberspace. You consider posting in a blog, and someone responding, as talking. Dakota, my advice to you is stop living your life on the internet.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Your brilliant responses Dakota only proves you agree with me, but will never admit it, not here, not in your real world.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:28 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Stkaufman: are Americans really so knowledgeable about military history? I once asked a group of 12-14 year- olds some questions about WWII for a class at university. None knew who fought in the war, none could tell me who won. Maybe our generation is the last to take an interest, and now all are interested in pop culture…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:30 pm

I am very good friends with the producers that make the game Call of Duty. Not to give too much away about what I do for a living, I learned that from you, I used to live in LA and I worked for a little company called Activision. I was in on COD from day one and one of my best friends is still a lead producer of that franchise.
It is an intense game and the new one is incredible from what I’ve seen. You will be glad to know that the folks over at Activision pride themselves on historical accuracy and realism so your son won’t be misinformed for the most part.
Pretty violent game for a youngen, I imagine he is 14? I’ve got a ways to go with my boy yet, he is only 2. By the time he is 14 video games will be holograms in my living room and I will walk in and get shot by Master Chief.

I love this country, and I love the Raiders! I hate Muslims, liberals, all NFL teams other than the Raiders, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Black people who listen to the likes of them instead of smart black people like Bill Cosby and Condaleeza Rice, illegal immigrants, Mexican Americans who don’t come out against illegal immigrants, who are the same as the illegals, as far as I’m concerned, Michael Moore, Barack Obama (see above), and anyone who doesn’t believe that God has blessed this country and intended us to be the best.
Go Raiders!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Here it comes. Some liberal is going to play the race card and accuse me of being a racist. Well, I’m not. I’m against anyone being ignorant and stupid, black or white. I’m against thugs, living the life. I hate them. And that’s the problem with blacks in this country, they look up to them instead of the good blacks, who are a credit to their race. Bill Cosby, Larry Elder, etc. But of course, these brainwashed black idiots will call these good black men “uncle toms”. That is sad. black people really get on my nerves. I wish they’d just shut up, and go back to Africa.

June 27th, 2008 at 7:39 am
4evaRaaider…
man it was action packed! I had 8times the fronts the naz1es had… we know they couldn’t handle two, so i’m quite impressed how I managed it… but it was very stressful…
June 27th, 2008 at 7:46 am
LMFAO!
June 27th, 2008 at 7:51 am
As Dakota said; You have very thick skin my friend. It looked more like 20 fronts, but you never backed down from your original comment. That so-called red blooded american puke was just a posser anyway.99% of us are glad you grace this site. And how come these so called experts never mentioned the “RESISTENCE”?They were feeding the nazis so much disinformation at great peril to themselves and their families
June 27th, 2008 at 7:53 am
Great Good Morning Now dakota is here 2 good morning Dakota!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 7:55 am

I bet you sound like John Wayne when you type 779 Dakota
June 27th, 2008 at 8:00 am
Well its good 2 see Dakotas on a roll allready. Now all we need is 4 the rest of the gang 2 show up
June 27th, 2008 at 8:05 am
Watch it Pilgram or I’ll have you pread eagle on a wagon wheel!
John Wayne had some great quotes!
Examples:
“There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves”
“Get off your butt and join the Marines!”
“I’m the stuff men are made of”
“If everything isn’t black and white, I say, “Why the hell not?””
“If you’ve got them by the balls their hearts and minds will follow.”
“Women have the right to work wherever they want, as long as they have the dinner ready when you get home”
“Screw the KC Chiefs!”
June 27th, 2008 at 8:05 am
spread-eagle…that sounds bad…
June 27th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Jerry, this halfway house isn’t registered yet?
Backup QB, who cares ? If JR goes down we go down regardless.
June 27th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Jerry, it has been a week dude, get back to work…this isn’t Europe.
June 27th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Well look here Mista;I disagree with you on that.WE had the #6 rushing attack last year. The QB “usally” dosent block 4 the RB.With another year under their belts Im sure we will even be better this year.Thats why I posted yesterday we need a vetern #2 QB,one who wont make mistakes if a passing situation arises which it surely will. This is why I question signing Hellens brother.I say sign Dilfer if we can, he proved in Baltimore he wont loose a game 4 you. strong running game.oppertunistic defence will get you far in this league
June 27th, 2008 at 8:38 am
so this it the 4th day of Dakotas attack on europeans…
June 27th, 2008 at 8:38 am
thats my john wayne
June 27th, 2008 at 8:41 am
4eva…
I agree. And I’ve said it here before, Dilfer is an administrator of the game… not a passer, and administrator, thats what Jammy needs around him, clever guys who can help him on the sideline and a guy who can distribute the ball, where it is a short pass of a handover on a run play…
June 27th, 2008 at 8:45 am
LMN,
I think it is just the 3rd day of my “attack” isn’t it? If it was day 4, it would be a new European record for resisting an attack…you guys usually fold in 3 days or less, lol.
June 27th, 2008 at 8:48 am
apropos our talks about Afghanistan… one of our Tanks has been under severe attacks, this morning, in the Helmand province…but assistance beat the attack back…
according to the first reports…
June 27th, 2008 at 8:48 am
LMN,im with you on that;good one Dakota!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 8:49 am
LMN on the Dilfer comment
June 27th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Dilfer would be much better that what we currently have in place.
June 27th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Another case in point Mista;Earl Moral backed Johnny U 4 the Dolts[Baltimore]got them through season, playoffs, allthe way to super bowl.A strong running game good defence AND an experienced #2QB.We all know what Joe Willie Namath did 2 them but my point still stands
June 27th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Let’s sign Vinnie!
June 27th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Noooooooo!
June 27th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Lets sign Vince Evans!
June 27th, 2008 at 9:15 am
WOW….Looks like Dakota has been defending Lady Liberty’s back! WTG!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Iowa RAIDER this post is strongly recommended .The comments contained herein will have you busting a gut AND very educational.Rated a 6star on a 5star platform.I personall am a better person 4 it!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 9:27 am
WTF Dakota!! You are babbling about some 60+ year old war when our comrades are giving the ultimate sacrifice in the troll wars.
If the trolls win, the American way of life will be doomed (and by American way of life I mean plentiful corn syrup, guns, and hillrod politicians).
OBAMA/DASCHLE 08
June 27th, 2008 at 9:28 am
4EVA,
Dilfer is a sack of manure If I ever see him in S&B I will puke. When we are a SB caliber team our backup QB will be important, until then its not even an issue.
June 27th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Dilfer rhymes with pilfer! Nuff said
June 27th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Mista,if you have or support a football team #2QB is allways an issue.Like Isaid b4 I didnt really care 4 Dilfer early in his career, but when McNair went down in baltimore,he did all you could ask of him.Hes got the RING 2 prove it.On a side note wasnt McNair about the toughest sons of guns 2 ever play the game!!! Talk about a player who truely LOVED the game. His numbers dont warrent a hall of fame bust, but his toughness and love 4 the game do.imho

Man luckey 4 me AND you guys plumbing bizniss is slow.I get 2 spend my time here while the oldlady works
June 27th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Meh, he was pretty good in college. I played against this guy in high school. I would have liked to see them bring back Daunte merely as a mentor to Russ. I’m still lauging inside about Tui being back.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:01 am
Daunte is welcome back a whooping… hate that guy, biggest traitor of the NATION and btw he is a purple guy in my eyes… be default i gotta hate him… as I hated Moss when he arrived…
Daunte can’t play anymore, I rather have marinovich…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:01 am
Good morning to you 4eva…
As for Dilfer, we shant forget that Siragusa is the only reason he has a ring. Without that tub of lard, Dilfer would be just another Lane Kiffin (i.e. scrubby white QB from Fresno State).
June 27th, 2008 at 10:02 am
siragusa… hate that falla, I would love if the east coast mafia gave him some heavy boots!
June 27th, 2008 at 10:12 am
DEATHbyTATUM,Ihave 2 question a guys heart if he gets offerd #1million 4 1 year to PLAY football, especially in GreenBay.Imean what a way 2 end your career, those cheeseheads are well not close 2 THE NATION but still are about as close as any fans can be 2 their team,in way of support.Culpepper dosent want glory,he wants money, imo
June 27th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Milicia,
Why not have Daunte as a mentor to Russ? Same type of big arm, big bodied, mobile QB. How is he a traitor? If you think he is the biggest traitor, what would you say about people like McGlockton or Porter?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Good point 4eva.

June 27th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Dilfer is a joke, period. He was in the right place at the right time and by right place, I mean one of the best Defenses ever to cover his butt. I laughed my head off when he played the Ravens last year and tried to “bury the hatchet” to make some publicity for himself and then gets demolished by them. His reaction to that touchdown when he freaks out is priceless.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:18 am
I think Andrews Mom shows why women and sports dont mix.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:20 am
DbT…
because he turned his back on us last year… McCown stayed and helped Jammy, Daunte ran away as a b1tchy teenager, when he wasn’t #1 anymore…
He turned down a job at GB for 1mill, because he wont be a mentor…
Daunte can take a hike… hate the guy, go play in canada…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:23 am
McClown high tailed it to Miami. Yeah, Daunte cried like a girl, but you have to expect that from guys in the NFL. They all want to play instead of riding the bench. I’d much rather have a backup who wanted to start rather than one who was content being a Tui.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:23 am
ohh I can 4eva said the same thing…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:25 am

June 27th, 2008 at 10:26 am
We do NOT need a doucebag like Daunte to mess up Jammy’s head… we need quality guys, not traitors as that old fart… He better go home and put on one of his purple dresses…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:29 am
LMN, why the special distaste for the Vikings?
What you said about Culpepper’s character is pretty true. He has about as much heart as a…..as a….
EU infantry soldier.

—”Al Davis reportedly regrets some of his big-spending this offseason, according to Yahoo! Sports. The Raiders, of course, call this “rumor mongering,” which usually means it’s true. But after blowing a huge amount of money on Javon Walker, Tommy Kelly, Gibril Wilson, and DeAngelo Hall, the Raiders are under a lot of pressure to win this season. If they struggle, perhaps Davis will consider giving up some decision-making power.

I too would love to see Porter get laid out, by us or any other team. In fact, looking back on it, Shell shoulda just got Porter a suite at the Bellagio and a case of DOM instead of benching him…
Can you imagine LVMPD finding Porter in the gutter wearing nothing but his heavyweight belt (cuz it was too cheap to steal).
June 27th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Bo,
Best analogy I’ve ever heard in my life!
June 27th, 2008 at 10:39 am
there not called the celtics the soccer club just Celtic, cmon LMN ur better than tht. Have u guys checked out Keller on youtube. Seems like a bit of a dud.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I wish I had a Lakers blanket…I have a Cubs blanket and a Raiders blanket, but no Lakers blanket…
Thanks for bumming me out LMN.
What did I ever do to you?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Dude,
Keller wasn’t bad in college. Living in Tracy, I played him in high school for a preseason game, he was pretty good then.
Dakota,
What kind of blankey are you going to have when the Rays beat the Cubs in the playoffs?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Dont talk mexican in front of the baby is my favorite John Wayne quote. I responded that way on purpose to see if anyone got it.
Anyway, I about fell out of my lazyboy when I heard it last year.

Dakota, whats your take on Cuban as an owner? I HATE him as a Lakers fan, but he least he would care if his team lost (as you know, that would be a first for a Cubs owner).
June 27th, 2008 at 10:44 am
He is made for a west coast offense apparently and we run n gun. Davis loves the long ball and Keller cant throw it.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:45 am

June 27th, 2008 at 10:46 am

Of course the EU has no army of it own, I meant any infantry soldier from an EU country.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Cuban is one of the biggest idiots in sports but yes, at least he does care about his team. I’ll give him that.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:48 am
By EU, you folks mean Europe?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:48 am
EU is a political organization, there was talk about it in the 90’s that EU should have an united army, but The No from the Danes in 93 put an stop to it…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:49 am
I dont think Cuban is a idiot. More of an egotistical blowhard. Most idiots dont have a couple billion in the bank account by the time they are thirty.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:49 am
DbT, that is my single favorite trait of Mr. Davis, knowing his gut is wrenching worse than mine when we suck.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:50 am

June 27th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Bo,
You’re right. We can only piss and moan so much but he has to front the cash for it. Al may have made some mistakes here and there but you can’t call the guy cheap. Every year he spends money to try and better this team.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:52 am
LMN, if the EU did build a united army how would we know?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:56 am
The EU has been pushing for a European Rapid Reaction Force since at least 1999. Now France is supporting it…
Seems a little redundant too me…most of Europe is used to cowering under NATO since the fall of the USSR.

I hate intolerance of free speech. Of course, had they put Al Davis in a cartoon they should be strung up as apostates.

Ha! That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard; The last line. Al Davis is under no pressure at all. Kiffin is. Al Davis will scapegoat the f’n fans before he blames himself. If the Raiders tank this season, Al Davis will say that Kiffin wanted all of these guys. It’s that simple.

June 27th, 2008 at 11:48 am
It’s been well determined that Al Davis does not understand the modern day game. So that’s correct, to the guy who posted under my name, Al Davis will get no credit. He gets credit for hiring the right people, and that’s it.

Yahoo sports, today:
“Three sources who have had conversations with the Oakland Raiders general managing partner within the past two months said Davis has expressed regret over the team’s offseason spending spree on players and worries about his ability to end the longest-running slump in team history.”
What? Al Davis doesn’t believe in our players? That’s it!! Al Davis is not a real fan, man!!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 11:54 am
More from yahoo sports:
“So much so that he would relinquish control of essentially making all personnel decisions and hire someone else to call some of the shots?
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported in a blog on the network’s website on June 6 that former Green Bay Packers vice president of player finance Andrew Brandt was on the verge of being hired by the Raiders in a similar role. However, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports that Brandt declined the offer and countered by offering to serve as a consultant. One of the sources found Oakland’s attempt to land Brandt particularly interesting.”

—”Mike Williams’ conditioning level is reportedly still an issue. Williams hasn’t been bad in non-contact OTA work, but he’s still hovering in the 240-250 pound range and doesn’t look like a great bet to make the Titans unless they keep seven receivers. The four-week layoff before training camp could work against Williams due to his apparent lack of self discipline. Jun. 27 - 2:54 p.m. ET”—

Walker, Probably won’t be ready at the start of camp.
Kelly, probably won’t be ready at the start of camp.

What kind of BS news flash is this? An owner regrets dropping big guaranteed money after his new guy gets his face rearranged in Vegas. DUH! Should the owner NOT feel any regret?
Face it nation. Al takes risks every year to put together a winner. Some pay off, others don’t. If you want an owner who will never roll the dice, get a Cardinals jersey. You’ll be asleep by halftime each week.
June 27th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
My favorite was the time I quoted Rich Gannon ad nauseum when he criticized the Raiders, but then a couple weeks later turned around and claimed he was nothing but a Raider shill when he praised them. God I hope the Raiders don’t run the ball twenty times a game this year.

All of us moan about it????? Not me. Not most of the people I know. This place isn’t perfect as no place is perfect for all people, but I’d rather live here than anywhere else. I’ve been to France, Spain, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, and Germany. Some fine things there and some not so fine from my point of view. Nothing Europe offers could entice me away from my country.
Most of the people who settled this country were from Europe and most of those were the dirt poor. Is that a touch of envy that the dregs and rejects from most European countries have built the most powerful nation the world has ever seen?

June 27th, 2008 at 12:33 pm

15,000 TICKETS TO LONDON GAME GONE IN 30 MINUTES
Posted by Michael David Smith on June 27, 2008, 3:59 p.m.
The NFL said today that the 15,000 tickets it made available for the October 26 game in London sold out in half an hour.
“Once again this demonstrates the huge interest in the sport in the UK,” said Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of the NFL’s United Kingdom office. “Fans here are excited to be able to see two teams of this caliber playing in the UK, and with a full Wembley Stadium, we expect the atmosphere to be electric when the Saints and Chargers take the field.”
The league previously put 40,000 tickets on sale for the game, and those sold out in 90 minutes.
The announced attendance of last year’s Giants-Dolphins game at Wembley Stadium was 81,176. The NFL says it will play at least one game a year in the UK for at least the next three years.

This is why Iran can’t have nukes…
Nuclear proliferation is a term now used to describe the spread of nuclear weapons, fissile material, and weapons-applicable nuclear technology and information, to nations which are not recognized as “nuclear weapon States” by the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also known as the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty or NPT. Proliferation has been opposed by many nations with and without nuclear weapons, the governments of which fear that more countries with nuclear weapons may increase the possibility of nuclear warfare (up to and including the so-called “countervalue” targeting of civilians with nuclear weapons), de-stabilize international or regional relations, or infringe upon the national sovereignty of states.
