Deadline passes _ no deal for Asomugha

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 at 3:42 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders passed out signing bonus money this offseason as if it were Halloween candy, but opted to pay for cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on a week-by-week basis in 2008.

The deadline for signing franchise players to multi-year contracts has come and gone, meaning Asomugha will play for the one-year tender for an exclusive franchse cornerback.

The only announcement by the Raiders Tuesday came on the transactions page of their Web site, where fourth-round pick Tyvon Branch, a safety out of UConn, was reported as having signed a contract.

That leaves three draft picks _ wide receiver Arman Sheilds, defensive end Trevor Scott and wide receiver Chaz Schilens _ unsigned with the reporting date eight days away.

Steve Baker, the agent for Asomugha, could not be reached for comment and has chosen to remain silent throughout the signing period.

Asomugha has also declined comment, mindful of the fact that even a whisper of complaint from someone scheduled to make more than $570,000 per week throughout the 17-week pay period is the worst kind of press.

Should the Raiders elect to franchise Asomugha again next season, he would get a 20 percent increase in salary and would stand to make more than $20 million over a two-year period, cashing in on the back-to-back franchise tags much the same way that Charles Woodson did as a Raider.

Woodson not only made great money from the Raiders, but signed with the Green Bay Packers when the Raiders opted not to franchise him a third time. Asomugha, depending on the future of the collective bargaining agreement, could find similar riches.

Yet the probability remains that Asomugha will not immediately sign the tender, letting the Raiders know through his inaction that while he has no animosity toward the organization, he does have a problem with the franchise tag.

The guess here is the only way Asomugha shows up to camp on time is if the Raiders promised not to franchise him again in 2009, much the same way that that New England Patriots did with Asante Samuel and the Chicago Bears did with Lance Briggs.

As much money as Asomugha stands to make, one bad step or a block at the knees could make all the future riches beyond this season vanish in the blink of an eye. While he won’t say it, Asomugha can be forgiven for wondering why a loyal soldier who has been one of the elite at his position for the last two years will play week by week when unproven commodities such as JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden and Tommy Kelly cashed in with huge signing bonuses.

The Raiders also doled out huge money to free agents Javon Walker and Gibril Wilson, not to mention giving trade aquisition DeAngelo Hall _ a cornerback, like Asomugha _ some $24 million in guaranteed money.

The weekly paydays ensure Asomugha won’t miss any regular season games, but the possibility of getting him in camp right away and getting used to two new starters _ Hall and Wilson _ seems remote.

People, There is No way that any team is going to negotiate while they already have the player on the “franchise tag”!!! Maybe next year… If Asomugha isn’t too upset.. GO RAIDERS!!!! P.S. I actually cried when we got Darren Macfadden!!! Along with J Russell, you’ve got to admit that “we” are trying!!!!

Nhambdi is an average corner. Who cares if hes a franchised player or a long term player. BFD.

Nnamdi will be fine. He knows the defense, and his position doesn’t require a “timing” to get used to. Next year is next year. If he plays up to his potential and shows that he deserves the long term contract he will get it. Not that he hasn’t proven that already, because I think he has.
Bottom line is he deserves a long term contract, and he will get one. Either way, he will play his butt off this season, because he will either be playing for a long term contract, or to show what he’s really worth to other teams. It’s a win win for our defense.

And, so it goes… Hopefully, Aso does not stay out for more than two weeks. Don’t care how good a shape he is in, it is very important for Aso to not stay out to long. He needs to get in “football” shape and to build a rapport w/ his new teammates, in the D-backfield.

  14. NoLuv4Hoes Says:

why would they give so much money to kelly and walker and not give the money to someone who deserves it? even burgess deserve more money than kelly or walker signed for. nmandi good luck and i hope someone pays you, you deserve it even if it isn’t with the raiders.

  15. truth of the matter Says:

On the other hand, I am worried about our WR situation. Our suppose #1 is seeing out of 1 eye and eventhough reports say that he will be fine for training camp, training camp is two weeks away, and I am concerned. The last report about him was that he was out of shape and not doing so good in the chemistry department between him and JR. Carter seems to be a good character, hard working guy. And I wouldn’t doubt it if he emerges as the favorite target. With Curry becoming a sleeper #2. Sure, JW will get his 5 TDs or so this season, but I think the yardage and catches will go to Carter, if not the TDs as well. The running game will be freaking unstoppable. Expect Fargas and McF to split the carries (obviously) and Bush to come in as relief and some short yardage.
It’s going to be a good season. We should go 8-8…

  16. David (Clearwater, Fl) Says:

Post #5, that’s ridiculous. You cried when they got McFadden?!? Get a hold of yourself. There’s no crying in baseball and/or the NFL draft, unless you’re the players mother.

This is a shame that Aso has not been re-signed. He clearly deserves the money more than any of the other guys who got it, and you can exclude McFadden and Russell from the comparison. Their situations are totally different and there’s no legitimate comparison between them getting a contract and Aso. So does this mean that the team is not able to negotiate with him until after the season? That sucks. I don’t understand why that would be the case from a bargaining agreement standpoint. I would think a player ought to be able to sign a deal whenever it’s offered. I get that they want to turn their focus 100% to the season, it just sucks for both parties though.

  17. 408RAIDER Says:

    Real talk 909..

No suprise C Wood all over again! We give losers and unproven players all the cash. Aso is a top ten CB the reson his numbers were down in O7 is because no one had to throw at him! Al’s spending spree will be our undoing this year and many morf to come. Al is killing this team.

  20. MR Says:

Well, the damage was done when they paid so much for the likes of Walker and Kelly. For those of you who thought Al’s spending spree was harmless, here’s casualty number one. Seems to me they had no choice but to short change Aso. I know it’s the same old drum, but this is poor team management.

And downplaying Aso’s ability just isn’t going to cut it. You’ll never downplay him enough to justify what Walker and Kelly made in light of their recent history of performance.

Let’s face itL Al “made it rain” in his own fashion, and sprayed Aso with the champagne.

  21. MR Says:

Aso is a top ten CB the reason his numbers were down in O7 is because no one had to throw at him!

Pppppllleeeeaaassseee, RunRun, he had one good year, the reason no one threw at him is they RAN UP THE MIDDLE!!! Hey, I hope he can be a top ten CB for the next 2-8 yrs but he just isn’t that no matter how you coat it!

  22. El Dirty Says:

This sucks. Aso better be at camp or he will kill our defensive chemistry

  23. Charles Benson Says:

this MR guy is a fool. And he’s Jamarcus too.

  24. Kevin Says:

Next season Al Davis has a new bargaining chip as the collective bargaining agreement goes out the window, allowing Davis to spend as he likes on who he likes. Asomugha could get what he deserves still by allowing Davis to lock up what he has thus far along with the room to sign the yet unsigned draft picks. If Asomugha plays his role, next year he could get plenty more than Hall and more than the Raiders can currently afford under the cap.

  25. exlaraiderseasonticketholder Says:

    From Aso’s biog in wikipedia

The 2007 season was a lonely existence for Asomugha, who paid for his eight-interception breakout season of 2006. Even established star quarterbacks such as Brett Favre and Peyton Manning, neither short on confidence or receivers, would not challenge him. Opposing quarterbacks tested him only 31 times with a mere 10 completions the entire season. One NFL scout told Pro Football Weekly that Asomugha was thrown at “less than any defender in the last 10 years” in 2007 *[2]. He finished the 2007 season with 34 tackles, 1 interception and 7 breakups

H/D, players HATE the franchise tag. Hate it. If a team has to franchise a player it basically means the player wants the hell out of here. Since Nnamdi came in the league the Raiders have been really scraping the bottom of the barrel. You can’t blame him for wanting out. The losing has GOT to get old. Whether the organization can change his mind and convince him to stay, is a big if. Maybe with some wins this year………..

  35. Oakglenn Says:

666 is right. The Raiders had an offer on the table to Nnamdi since the end of last season. See my post #34.

The part that hurts the most is that Jordan remains on the team and that extra money could have been used to pay Asoumugha.

My guess is the Raiders overspent this off-season and simply ran out of money. They will probably be in better shape next season to sign Aso to a long term contract and maybe Al has told Aso the reasons why and that is why Aso isn’t complaining.

As far as getting ready…our defense seems easy to learn and all he really does is play man to man so thats all he has to be ready to do. Routt could probably use the extra work while Aso sits this off season.

mm,, mm,, mm, well you know that old saying dontcha?
Good guys finish last. Asomugha is a perfect example of a good guy who did everything asked of him without causing any trouble or acting like a jackass, instead he chose to be a model citizen and a true professional and a charitable man and he got screwed. I cant help but think about how the sexy chics always lean toward the bad boys and the nice gentlemen gets the cold shoulder. I think Asomugha got that cold shoulder. Oh well,, I guess he’ll have to settle for that lousy 9million. Damn!! I wish the Raiders would give me the cold shoulder. YA KNOW?!

  49. Bob Marley Says:

Again, you have to look at this situation from Nnamdi´s financial prospects.

If he doesn´t sign a long term deal, he´ll play for us the following 2 seasons and make over 20 million dollars, 9.75 in 08 and around 11 in 09.

After that, he´s an Unrestricted Free Agent available to the best suitor for the 2010 season.

What´s the big deal you say?. The 2010 season will likely be the year without a Cap.

Every team in need of a top-flight CB can go after Nnamdi without having to worry about the financial restrictions of “fitting” his contract under the Cap.

So, by not signing a long term deal Nnamdi could be looking at a guaranteed 20 million plus payday from the Raiders in 08 and 09 and then, in 2010, a huge contract from the highest bidder.

DeAngelo Hall signed for about 25 million guaranteed, Nnamdi will make 20 the next 2 seasons alone and will likely get a new contract with about 35-40 million in guarantees by 2010, he could secure a payday of about 50 to 60 million over the next 5-6 years.

The way things have been set up for Nnamdi he could make more money than any other Defensive player in the league over the next few seasons, at least more than any other CB.

That kind of money dwarfs anything we could offer him in a long term deal. Of course, playing that game carries some risk for Nnamdi, he can get injured and watch his value diminish greatly, but it has to be a big temptation for Nnamdi and of course, his Agents.

  50. Bob Marley Says:

One more thing to consider, apparently we were able to fit Nnamdi´s 9.75 salary under this years cap.

If and when we sign him to a long term deal we´ll free up a huge chunk of cap space with his signing bonus being prorated and his cap number going down millions, we may be waiting to get that space for next season since we we don´t need it right now, we are not signing anyone else.

It´s like DeAngelo´s deal, he´ll count for less than 3 million this year, by signing Nnamdi long term next season we reduce his cap number from 11 million or so to 3 maybe 4 million, giving us some room to maneuver.

Of course, that´s provided Nnamdi would want to sign such a deal, not a given when you consider the prior post.

  51. Johnny Rebel Says:

  52. Johnny Rebel Says:

So the fact is from the Haynesworth article they can franchise Aso for 3 years and that will get him to the uncapped year if it happens. He will not sign a long term deal I bet.

SNB 666, Oaklgnenn, whatever guys. I was just going to commend you on your point about Aso being offered a bigger contract earlier in the year, SNB666, because I did forget about that, until you started going there with the mother stuff. You and Oakglenn are pathetic. You guys take get too personal with people in here. None of us has jack to do with anything. We’re all just fans, with zero control over what’s going on. It’s just football, man. I want to see this team win more than you guys think. It’s just that I strongly disagree with the way Al runs this team. I don’t believe he’s focused enough on winning. Too many schemes and politics. I’d like to see Al get back to the meat and potatoes of football like he was in the ’70s. As far as having a heavy hand in personnel and contracts, what’s he going to prove that he hasn’t proven years ago? What can he do that he hasn’t already done, aside from outdoing himself in stupidity? As long as Al signs the checks, HE GETS THE CREDIT FOR WHATEVER GOOD HAPPENS. What the F is he, and his loyal supporters, so damn worried about? I had no problem with Davis during 2000. And yes, I gave him credit. Not necessarily for our philosophy and personnel, but for being more focused on getting the Raiders back to the top tier than playing stupid games with his employees. Obviously, I was grossly mistaken in thinking it would last for too long, but I sure as heck gave him the benefit of the doubt when he hired Gruden. Believe you me, all was well between ‘98 and ‘00 for pretty much all Raider fans, except for the few loons who hated the ‘00 season because we didn’t stretch the field enough. So much for “just win baby”.

My point being: Al brings it on himself, you knuckleheads. Jerry can ban me and have me outright whacked Soprano style, and there’ll be a new Davis basher in here within a week, and you guys will think he’s me posting from the grave. Ignorance is f’n bliss. Enjoy it all, really. It must be a pure joy to be completely paranoid and seeing red all the f’n time. I’ll try and keep it neutral from here on out and stay out of your guys’ way. But what good will it do. There’s nothing neutral about the way you guys think. It’s war, 24/7. From your cubicle, to the internet, to the football field..no, wait, scratch the latter. You guys don’t play on the team. Why you guys have more passion for this than the guys who actually do is the true, sad irony of your lives.

Players don’t like the tag because as Jerry pointed out if he gets hurt he is screwed whereas if tricky knee walker goes down he keeps getting paid.

  57. HayesDaze#37 Says:

Thank you, the REAL Bob Marley. Not always right, but right-on about Nnamdi. Al is on top of his game with the Franchise Tag…just like Woodson, Nnamdi will benefit greatly financially, while still being in the driver’s-seat when it comes to signing his once-in-a-lifetime contract.

Both sides played this exactly how they were supposed to, and both sides will benefit. If the player still deserves a long-term contract at these prices after next year, he’ll get it. If not, he won’t. If he’s Franchised again, he’ll still be one of the highest-paid players in the NFL for 2-straight years, with Free Agency looming in a non-contract year.

The owner, on the other hand, gets the satisfaction of knowing his highest-paid players have to continue performing if they want those big paydays. If a guy wants to stay, he’ll stay. If he doesn’t, he won’t. Simple as that. Don’t wanna play for Al? Who cares? Love the class (and ability) of Nnamdi…but he’s still not one of the greatest Raiders CB’s ever. Hope he proves to be, right here in Oakland. If not, Al will find another great one (if he’s not already on the team).

All you “regulars” on here know that people’s names are being hijacked by trolls. Even regulars who are usually wrong in their opinions have their names unjustly used by a few people to make them look even worse. As one who’s been wrong in here ONCE, I must say we don’t need anybody else’s help in looking foolish.

What I also know is that a real Raiders fan would NEVER ruin real Raiders fans’ blogs and forums. Yet, a troll or three are doing just that to this one. To all you hard-headed, sometimes wrong and sometimes right, sometimes stereotypical, usually entertaining, REAL RAIDERS FANS who make this the best blog around, DON’T LET THE BA$TARDS GET YOU DOWN!

Pay attention, and you’ll notice that one single person on this forum has more than 15 aliases — and almost all of them resort to name-calling at some point.

These types of insults will not continue much longer, once IBA/MNG corporate management (and their advertisers) address the fact that 1/3 of their 500,000+ (and rapidly growing) hits on this sight are made by frauds, who usually end up spouting — among other things — racist hatred just to spark a flame.

Help stop it: DON’T BITE. NEVER RESORT TO PERSONAL, DEMEANING NAME-CALLING OF ANOTHER FAN here, AND DON’T ENGAGE IN THE BACK-AND-FORTH of such B$ while someone tries to bait you. It will become even more obvious who is worth sharing your time with here. There are fans, and then there are people who hate everything good this site should be. Obviously, they’re not the fans. And while we’re there; The way Al Davis treats his employees, particularly his head coaches, makes me wonder if the rugby team at the Citadel didn’t tie him down in the locker room and give him the old chocolate shower. There isn’t a person on the planet who couldn’t put up ‘03-’07 Al Davis results in the same span of time. You know how sad that is? And this guy fires coaches for winning less than 10 games in two years. How about less than 20 in 5 years? Stupid old fossil. Yeh, I know, Gruden left him with ponies. Maybe Gruden did. But what Al has proven is that he has no clue what to do about it. He should be wheeled right into an involuntary nursing home. I don’t know what he’d hate worse, losing his independence or watching Mark D and Lane put his old team back into the playoffs within 2 years time. That’s probably just what will do him in. Ah, a bit of evolution.

Nnamdi will likely be offered a giant contract in the ball park of what he wants next offseason. In the interim — especially if he stays out of camp, is to see what happens at the RCB slot. Will Routt see time there exclusively with the ones, or will he alternate with others?

Sorry to see this come to pass.

The problem with Franchising a player for the 3rd time is that his salary goes up 44% from the previous season. In Nnamdi´s case, that would mean his salary would jump from 11 million plus in 09 to nearly 16 million in 2010.

Since it´s highly unlikely we´ll pick that up, it´s a safe bet to assume Nnamdi will become an Unrestricted FA after the next 2 seasons.

I can’t imagine that we haven’t offered him some good money. I feel like maybe Aso is just waiting till next season, to see if we will be competitive, before signing a long-term contract. If that isn’t the case and Al is just holding out on him, then this is a huge, huge mistake.

  69. MR Says:

Oakglenn, I stopped posting under your name because I felt stupid when doing it. If you don’t feel stupid right now posting under mine, then don’t worry, kiddo. You’ll get there some day.

Marley, you know your s’t. You sit back and wait for someone to exaggerate and then you just annihilate them. At the end of the day, we bring it on ourselves. I could have a field day doing the same thing with Oak and SB666 from the other end of the spectrum, but I think what’s got them all in a hissy over me is that fact that I’ve already done it to them so effectively a few times. It’s too easy.

Anyhow, you guys are allright. If you want to take it so personally when I go after Al, do it. Either handle it Marley’s way, with some “jus the facts maam” rebuking, or go into an all out stupor of insults, accusations, and cloning under my name. Whatever works. You guys keep saying that when the Raiders start winning, I’ll disappear. Well, between here and RF.net, you guys have been saying that for 5 YEARS. At what point does it hit you that maybe I’m not the problem?

MR sounds to me like you are Nancy gay in disguise.

    I knew it!!!

    ……..

Nancy Gay is a professional journalist who works for a major newspaper. You’re on a blog all day, which tells me you’re not exactly Donald Trump. So, this begs the question; How is one supposed to be insulted when they’re referred to as Nancy Gay, by the likes of you?

  71. Dakota Says:

and the dickheads keep going and going and Jerry continues to do nothing to prevent the destruction of his blog…

    too bad

  72. C4 Says:

Al makes his decisions on weather or not to give a long term deal at the END of the player’s origonal contract. Aso’s contract just expired, yes, but Al spent a lot of money this off season to build a D around Aso, I’m sure Ao understands this. Al could simply not afford to give Aso his deal right now, so he used the franchize tag the way it is supposed to be used, its there for a reason. Next offseason wil be much less exciting and Aso will get his new contract. Take that to the bak nation 10-6 first playoff birth in 5 years! out, goodnight.

But back to the topic at hand:

    AL DAVIS.

Seriously, do you not think Nancy Gay or Ann Killion couldn’t manage an NFL team to 19 wins in 5 years?

  88. Jamarcus Says:

Nhambdi is no player to lose any sleep over. Hes an average corner. You have a shut down corner in Hall,..no need for two…if the Raiders thought he was all world they would pay him as one,..the Raiders are right on this one, just as I am.

Nnamdi Asomugha’s our best player, a #1 draft choice with a shot at the Pro Bowl, our first since Charles Woodson, he’s home grown, even. Post #25 is exactly right. Football Outsiders commented his name is “throw to the other side” in Nigerian. The organization should reward him for this, by paying him more than DeAngelo Hall, or ANYONE ELSE at his position, because he’s the best. He’s our only complete player on defense. Instead those who negotiate contracts give their respect to lesser lights. Something’s wrong here.

  91. MR Says:

    SNB 666,

Do you think pretty much anyone on the planet couldn’t manage an NFL team to 19 wins in 5 years?

  112. MR Says:

Voldemort, do you realize that if you were surrounded by sports fan from all around the country, of all kinds of different teams, they would fall down laughing if you declared the Raiders would win 10 games? Do you realize that probably more than half of the Raider Nation would fall down laughing? Do you realize how delusional and misled you are by the Raiders PR department? Do you realize that an owner who’s 19-61 over 5 years, and trying to get rid of his head coach, has no chance of winning 10 games? Are you this retarded everywhere you go? Answer, Voldemort. Stop being a wuss. Step up to the plate and be a man, for once in your worthless, pathetic life.

  113. MR Says:

Voldemort, do you have a wife or daughter? Are they ashamed of you? Does your wife bring her ex boyfriend around, or some platonic “friend”, to make her feel protected? I’ll bet so. Judghing by your lack of balls in here. You’re pathetic. Back up your owner, coward. Why does Al Davis suck so bad? Why does it take his senile ass more than 5 years to win 20 games? how f’n out of touch does he have to be with the modern day league? Why bother. You’re such a f’n coward there’s no way you’ll answer. I think you were born with womens’ genes.

  184. Steelyone Says:

I don’t know what possessed me to read as many post as I did tonight….I feel like I need a shower now….pure drival you freakin idiots….How bout we stick to the RAIDERS….

This personal crap is just that……..CRAP.

This blog is going downhill fast….

  185. MR Says:

Oakglenn, your existence is so important. Just hang out in a blog all day and wait for two people to show up here, then cream yourself and lose all control throwing one retarded insult at them after another. You have to be single. You would creep out even the most butt ugly, desperate chick.

  186. MR Says:

19-61 over 5 years. My god. That is bad. I promise you every owner in the league is saying to themselves that no matter how bad things may be for them, at least they’re not Al Davis. Talk about mystique. That’s Al’s mystique, anymore. Sheer pity.

  187. CopenhagenFan Says:

WTF??! Why do players get angry when they are designated as FRANCHISE…they get a top 5 salary at their position! ASO is top 5 in the league according to some, albeit he didn’t even make the pro-bowl. Stop your temper tantrum and get in there and play ball.

  188. ENGLANDRAIDER Says:

It might just benefit Aso to show up at training camp on time and work his butt off. It will be really important for him to be there adjusting to Hall and Wilson. Lat year Aso looked great but Hall wasn’t in the other corner. If Hall realy excells, and I don’t see why not, Aso could get a lot of work during the season and he might end up being every quarterback’s favorite corner. If he looks bad in comparision to Hall he might not warrant the franchise tag next year. That would certainly affect how much he’s worth.
Aso has a great attitude, is a popular player, and has a terrific work ethic. Maybe he won’t want to start out the season looking bad.

  189. ENGLANDRAIDER Says:

However, I don’t think the Raiders handled this well anymore than they did Woodson.

  190. Rick The Hunter Says:

I saw a lot of silly antics taking place on this blog before going to sleep. Then I wake up to get ready to go to work and I see a bunch of silly trash still taking place. So it tells me that you guys spent the whole night in front of your computers to call each other names and make silly little gay remarks about each other and talking about salty balls and getting rooms with one another. If thats what you fellas are into thats your business but this is a football site so maybe the talk should be about football, and not about sweaty balls. I got an idea,, how about you guys let us grown men talk about football while the rest of you all go get a Myspace page so you all can talk about salty balls and send each other pictures and be friends. If not then try to act like men for at least a little while. Its okay to act like mature adults, as a matter of fact its actually kinda cool. YA KNOW?!

Morning LMN cant sleep again this sukz…. maby if I burn 1 I can go back t sleep

  193. JediRaider Says:

Well, this is a good move because we wrapped up so much money in other people - I reallly don’t think the Raiders needed to throw down 50 mil on Tommy Kelly to get him back off an ACL, or 20 mil on Javon Walker coming off an ACL, but that’s what it took apparently. Anyway, we had to get a top flight CB to pair with Nnamdi in order to run our man defense, and Nnamdi really hasn’t been tested too much - I’m sure he would command the top salary in the NFL for a CB anyway, so what’s the harm in taking another year to look at him -maybe his value goes down if he has a sub-par year - good business decision, I’d be shocked if they didn’t offer him a slightly better deal than Hall, so Nnamdi may come to regret this decision - all these players carry millions of dollars in insurance, so him playing not get hurt won’t be an issue, especially since he’s playing for a contract next year - Al may also want to franchise him again next year to see if the NFL is uncapped in 2010 - all in all a typical move, 2 or 3 other franchised players didn’t get deals done, so it’s not like we’re alone. Having Nnamdi in camp would be great, but like others have said, it’s not like he needs to learn a complex scheme or anything.

  200. 408RAIDER Says:

Asomugha has informed the Raiders that he will not miss any regular-season games in a holdout, but it is uncertain whether he will report to training camp when it opens next week.

Routt better make th most of his reps

  201. La Milicia Negra Says:

    408…

soccer and Football is a fantastic combo, when soccer has winter break, football is about to go to off season, and when the SB is done, soccer winter break is almost over, Gwuuuejt!

NFL should make their season longer, petty 16 games is nothing!

  202. The Old Guy Says:

We give boat loads of money to players that are unproven,(Sands Kelly,Walker) and were going to go cheap with guy like Asomugha. Were going to give Asomugha a bundle of money anyway over the next two years. Just stupid. Hey , we all remember the path Charles Woodson took. take the tag money, play at 50%,wait to another team pays you what your worth, and go to the pro bowl. Al you screwed up, with this one baby.

  203. Johnny Rebel Says:

Aso has only 2 good years and you call him proven? It will be proven he is not as good as everyone assumes he is this year.

  204. Johnny Rebel Says:

9 interceptions in 5 years, none in his first 3. Proven? lol.
