It’s official _ O’Neal, Carter done for year

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, August 24th, 2008 at 4:15 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Coach Lane Kiffin told Bay Area media by conference call Sunday evening fullback Oren O’Neal and wide receiver Drew Carter were out for the season with left knee injuries.

O’Neal’s injury, Kiffin said, was serious enough to be considered career-threatening, saying, “it was as bad as it can get” and adding it was fortunate TV cameras didn’t pick it up. Kiffin said the injury went beyond a simple ACL tear and had other problems.

Carter sustained a torn ACL.

“I talked to both of them last night around midnight and they’re very down, especially Drew, whose had so many things like this happen to him,” Kiffin said. “He’s had a lot of tough breaks and he’s on a one-year contract, so this is very tough for him.”

Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and safety Rashad Baker had ankle injuries which could keep them out of practice Monday but aren’t considered serious.

More to come later . . .

    thanks for making it offical

  3. Severeraider Says:

Terry Glenn, Terry Glenn, Terry Glenn. Koren Robinson or Adarius Bowman. Al make it happen NOW!!!! Stay away from Joe Horn.

  4. RaiderNationPA Says:

This might be extremely reactionary, but the NFL has my vote for an 18 game reg. season, with only 2 preseason games.

  5. doug7dust Says:

both terry glenn and koren robinson…glenn for WR, Robinson for KR

  6. MoteLLparty Says:

no way theyd have 2 preseason games

  7. MoteLLparty Says:

maybe 3 games spread out biweekly instead of weekly to let knicks and injuries heal

  8. Ghost to the post Says:

    17-2

  9. Terrapin Says:

I was afraid for ONeal. His looked far worse than Carters getting off the field. His lower leg was just all out of order. Thats a very tough break. I feel bad for the guy. Hope he rehabs well and could get back in the game. Damn man, it makes you wonder how much of this preseason is necessary and them cutting down the roster numbers giving us a lack of camp fodder.

  10. Severeraider Says:

I feel for Oren because he was a late round pick and this is really gonna hurt him and his family. The guy has already overcame so much and for this to happen is bad. He was a future pro bowler and the heir apparent to Lorenzo Neal. Same goes for Carter, interms of him overcoming a lot, at least it was a different knee. He had been working so hard and had a nice chemistry with Russell early on that could have been re-kindled when the games counted.

  11. CorpRaiderNYC Says:

    Sucks.

  12. CorpRaiderNYC Says:

Very unfortunate for both players. Can Griffith pick up the slack and be the primary FB? I think he was in that role in ATL..

  13. Tommy Trojan Says:

Anyone see what Matt Barry(BSPN’s Fantasy Guru) projected for the Raiders? He pegged McFadden for 1,600 all purpose yards and 10 total TDs, Curry for 1,000 yards, and Russell for 25 total TDs. I’ve hung up my fantasy cleats because I never have the time, but I’m just surprised I agree with someone from BSPN. Every word of it, as if I were making the projections.

  14. Tommy Trojan Says:

You want power rankings? This isn’t about how I think each team will finish, but merely about how good I think they are.

Last year was great and this year will be great because the previous four years sucked. We’re in the second year of (Mr’s) three year plan and we’re on schedule. You can’t become great overnight unless you’ve got Shell and Upshaw running left.
No lower than second place and maybe 9-7.

    Keep the faith Raider Nation!
The pub’s closed, it’s time for bed.

  16. Oakglenn Says:

    great.

  17. Oakglenn Says:

corpraider he was in the ATL, but he’s more of a pass catching FB, and less of a lead blocking or blitz ending FB. As we saw last nite.

  18. Terrapin Says:

Wow just listened to the tidbits from Kiffin’s post game conference on raiders.com and what he’s saying is in stark contrast to what you guys are posting with all the “the sky is falling” hoopla.

Shockingly, he doesn’t seem to concerned about the loss. Shockingly, he says the 1st unit, particularly on defense played really well. Shockingly, he not worried about JRs confidence.

I suspect he get even a bit rosier as he re-watches the film. Thats my hunch. Sure they’ll be things to fix but the score wasn’t telling. Its good that he got it all on film. And Shockingly, he says JR needs to stick in there a bit longer (cause the WRs are getting open). Stark contrast to last year.

  19. MVTA Raider Says:

Gotta get busy finding replacments for both. Hope both players get top notch medical work and excellent rehab. Want to see them both in next year’s mini-camp. Raiders never get a break. Thank God we have Griffith. We need our receivers to step up and start playing better…

    Silver & Black Forever…

  20. Dakota Says:

    That really sucks.

  21. Dakota Says:

Lorenzo Neal already signed with the Ravens didn’t he??? And Chris Henry was re-signed by the Bungholes…

    Sheet man, that sucks.

  22. C4 Says:

I wander if anybody else has ever been shutout in a preseason game until last night. Over 80 people on this “team” and not one single person was able to put a single point on the board? It’s almost like there’s some F’d up form of magnatism that draws nothing but crappy unmotivated slugs with no pride, let alone a desire to defend it, to our sorry excuse of a football team. That was the most pathetic display of football I’ve ever seen. But I agree wit Jerry, it could have worse, we could have drafted Leinhart. At least our QB only throws it to the other team half of the time. I was pretty pissed lst night, couldn’t even sleep, and when I finally did, I woke up in an even worse mood. I’m disgusted. We will be lucky to win a single game. We have the absolute worst team in football…AGAIN!!!!!! FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!! I’m done being optamistic, now they’ll have to surprize me. We suck. All of you who are fallng back on our ” running game” need to take another look at the plays where we tried to run. THEY ALL GOT STUFFED. I think we averaged 2 yards per carry as a team (estimation, probably a generous one) We are screwed for this season, and with Al’s pointless spending spree, probably for longer than that. I’m so sick of waiting for some form of a desire to win from this bull$hit organization. I had to refrain from laughing out loud last night, everytime the game came back from commercial it would show these feable statments that no one on the team seems to take any consideration in, let alone the pride to uphold them. You know the ones…”comitment to excellence”…”pride and poise”…”the team of the decades” Ha! what a joke! “The worst team of the decade” is more like it. What a freakin joke! I’m so god damn sick of losing it’s really making me sick, I mean I really just may puke.

  26. garthraider Says:

Dakota, glad youre back!Any stories to tell!

  27. SoCal Al Says:

Any opinions as to who the first 5 cuts on Tuesday will be?

  28. C4 Says:

    My power rankings…
    Blah Blah Blah
    Who cares who cares whocares
some more tems that AREN’T the Raiders
and a few more of those
    and then…
    32. Raiders.
I coach Pop Warner, if we brought them to the NFL as the new 10 year old expansion team, then the Raiders would be 33.

  29. Voldemort Says:

    Come on C4
That’s a bit harsh. Though, I can certainly feel your pain and frustration.

  30. bleed silver and black Says:

Its a PRESEASON game chillax if your a coach you know that you need a balanced attack to do anything and if the defense knows your going to pass it becomes a lot harder to pull it off

  31. Voldemort Says:

I’m not too concerned about last night. It’s only the loss of Oren O that really irks me. I think that’s more of a key player than you all may realize, dude is a bruiser.

  32. MoteLLparty Says:

it wouldve been 9-3 at halftime with the same outcome…lanes not gonna go on 4th, hes gonna try to win

  33. moose Says:

C4 ….that was Mr.Davis gameplan…but Kiffin spat his dummy out and let everyone know we were gonna pass…im getting seriously worried about Kiffin and some of his recent comments….they are not too motivational

  34. Dakota Says:

    Garthraider,

Thanks, but no fun stories. Just saw:

    Grand Canyon
    Hoover Dam
    Vegas and a Cirque show
SD Zoo & Wild Animal Park
    Sea World & Point Lomas
    USS Midway & downtown SD
    Meteor Crater AZ
    Taos New Mexico

It was fun. I must say that I think Northern Cal is way nicer than Southern Cal, but I thought SD had a nice, clean downtown area and some great views of the Pacific. Temecula and Fallbrook seemed very nice. It was great to see the south western US.

  35. moose Says:

    Voldemort….agreed!

  36. Tommy Trojan Says:

The air and atmosphere are nicer up North, but there’s so much more to do, in every sense of the word, in Southern California, particularly San Diego.

  37. Raider Dell Says:

    Dakota

    “HELLS BELLS”

  38. allraider Says:

C4, dude it was only a preseason game. I never put any weight on the scores. They had to test the passing game, thats why Kiffin TOLD the Zona defense what his game plan was. He wanted for his offense to face the blitzes and fronts they did last night. For all intents and purposes, if it was a real game the score would have been 9-3 Raiders at half because they went for it on fourth down twice in the red zone and botched a field from 2nd string kicker. The only concern is that first team didnt score a TD but Walker looked good, finally, and it will be imperative that he gets going now that Carter is lost for the year.

  39. C4 Says:

    Hey TT
Haven’t seen you since around draft time. If my memory serves me, you pretty much nailed our draft all the way down to Chaz Schillens. So, tell me, who’s the best talent in this year’s draft? We should start thinking about who we want to take with the #1 overall pick. How about a nice CB?

  40. C4 Says:

Allraider, that’s always assuming (which makes an ass of u and me) that Janikowski can make a 5 yard FG, we know Elling can’t.

  41. Tommy Trojan Says:

I didn’t nail it completely, I had us going OL instead of Branch, just in the nature of full disclosure.

  42. Terrapin Says:

What I enjoyed seeing last night was Hall covering Fitz stride for stride - man on man. Thats what we want and thats what Al paid for. If he could keep that up all game this defense would be nearly unbreakable. Huff coming in over the top for the INT was icing on the cake.

(but its quite possible a healthy Hall would’ve gotten that INT by himself …nonetheless, I enjoyed the moment)

Most teams will not have that kind of fire power Zona’s got at WR and we were shutting it down. That bodes really well even if its preseason.

  43. The Twerp Says:

THE RAIDERS ACCORDING TO THE TWERP

The Raiders are who we thought they were, namely, a roster of hapless overpaid over-hyped losers.

    TWERPING TRUTH

It’s the Chargers division to lose, not the last place Raiders to win.

    TWERP’S FINAL THOUGHTS

Anyone placing the Raiders high on a fantasy power rankings is having a delusional gridiron fantasy.

The Raiders will slink to the cellar and crawl around with the Chiefs vying for the AFC West gutter.

  44. Dakota Says:

    Dell,

    Hells Bells fo sho!

  45. Sal Veranblack Says:

Sign Joe Horn now ! The Raiders need Horn, as long as he leaves his cellphone in his locker. Lofton looks like he could still play. BTW - anybody besides me think “Chiffon” Walker is a bust in the making ? Trade or release his “moet-spraying-got-mugged-by-achmed” punk-a**…

  46. garthraider Says:

Dakota, sounds like a great vacation!I agree about SD,wait for a Roadtrip ,see the city when the Nation arrives in early DEC!

  47. Terrapin Says:

Tell me TT. I know you had DMC, but who else. Maybe I’ll learn to listen too you a little closer lol cause I sure as hell wasn’t on the DMC bandwagon. But hey, no one can get it right all the time and I’m not even close to an exception.

  48. C4 Says:

Terrapin, so you enjoyed the first defensive play of the game too? Ya that’s about as far as I got with enjoying what I was looking at.

  49. Terrapin Says:

And Nnamdi is the f’n man. This guy is just sooo damn tuft in coverage its unfair. In my mind, he’s the best CB in the league by a good bit. Name me another that virtually plays man to man all day and does it as well as he does. Its just something else to watch. I just wish he came into his own earlier in his career.

  50. C4 Says:

Ya too bad Al wont give him the contract he deserves hey?

  51. C4 Says:

Al finally got a good corner, but for whatever reason, continues to shop around.
    TT,
the logical thing to do would have been to go OL instead of Branch, but this is Al “just stick a fat bastard in there and give me another CB” Davis were talking about.

  52. C4 Says:

God, I feel like MR today.
Sorry Nation. I’ll give it a rest, but sometimes you just gotta vent, ya know?

  53. The Twerp Says:

    THE WISDOM OF THE TWERP

A fine CB, i.e. Asomugha, makes not a winning team.

Just look at the Broncos who have Champ Bailey and the overrated Dre’ Bly.

    TWERPING FACTS

The Raiders with Asomugha are 19-61.

The Broncos with Bailey and Bly were 6-10.

    TWERPING TRUTH

The only team in the AFC West that has a roster layered with quality players is the San Diego Chargers.

Get used to groveling in the cellar, Raider Nation.

  54. Andrews Mom Says:

Did you pass through Kingman AZ?

  55. Tommy Trojan Says:

In all seriousness I expect us to pick between #13 and #22 with a total of 8 to 10 wins.

The players I’m looking at with that pick right now are:

    WR
    Michael Crabtree-TTU
    Jeremy Maclin-MIZZ
    Darrius Heyward-Bey-Maryland
    Vidal Hazelton-USC

    OT
    Michael Oher-MISS
    Alex Boone-OSU
    Sam Young-ND

    DE
    Michael Johnson-GT
    George Selvie-SFU
    Maurice Evans-PSU

    DT
    DeMarcus Granger-OU
    Fili Moala-USC
    Jeff Owens-UGA
    Ricky Jean-Francois-LSU

    LB
    Rey Maualuga-USC
    James Laurinaitis-OSU
    Brandon Spikes-FU
    Brian Cushing-USC

That’s as of right now, the picture will be much clearer after the season, and I’ll wait till then.

  56. Andrews Mom Says:

I will take from each category
    thank you

    Garthraider,

I guess there were two interesting tidbits about our vacation:

    1. we went through a brief snow storm passing through the Rockies on Friday afternoon; and

    2. we were at the Grand Canyon on Saturday and we thought nothing of the rain, but later found out that the Colorado flooded and 16 or so people had to be rescued from the Canyon.

    That’s all I got…

  59. Kyle Says:

    ___________________________________________

Actually, we spent Saturday night in Kingman AZ. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and ate at the Dunbar steakhouse.

  61. Tommy Trojan Says:

Terp, I had us going DMC, an OL with the pick for Washington, Shields with our own 4th, Scott in the 6th and Schilens in the 7th, so I almost had it dead on, and even I couldn’t believe it. I expected a higher pick(3rd) for Fabs, so in reality we took Branch with our 4th and Shields with the pick for Fabs. I got everything except Branch, but who saw that coming(I know I’m asking for an AD joke there…).

  62. Mistabrown Says:

OakGlenn, I havent seen you since I posted your Malik Jackson blunder and “DMAC red shirt year” post.

  66. Huff24 Says:

I feel really bad for O’Neal and Carter. I don’t care so much that we lost them for our own team but O’Neal wasn’t in this league long enough to distinguish himself and hes not exactly set for life with money at this point. I hope the Raiders take care of him. Carter has had his time at least but he can’t seem to stay healthy. I’d say he has at least 1 million in the bank. I appreciate their effort and I hope things work out for the both of them.

  67. Andrews Mom Says:

I have hiked down to the Hualapai reservation where they have those clear waterfalls. Thats where the flooding was.

  68. Jhill Says:

Well I have to say that I hope you are wrong about this year’s draft as far the order that we will take WR, OL, LB.

We need to go LB/DE, DE/LB, WR, then oline.

  72. Tommy Trojan Says:

As of right now I want to go OL, WR, DL, OLB

  73. Tommy Trojan Says:

Of course, that will probably change.

  74. MR Says:

Kiffin is green and having a difficulty coaching at this level. People were talking about Lofton being inexperienced, but he has a ton more experience than Kiffin. Prior to last year, Kiffin’s only NFL experience was a year as defensive quality control coach for the then doormat Jaguars, whatever the hell that is. He is obviously having difficulty interacting with Al, mostly due to the fact he seems reluctant to confront him face to face or to provide enough of an argument to sway Al’s thinking. I attribute this to the fact that Kiffin grew up with in what was probably a privileged household and was used to gettin what he wanted from his dad, now that the man in charge wont give him what he wants he is doing what any child would do, complaining and making sure that his “dad” and everyone else can hear him.

Gruden’s first and second year he went 8-8 and was taking over a team that is arguably worse than this one. Sean payton took over a team with a much worse defense, in a tougher division and led them to the NFC championship game. The offense has a better QB but it was Sean and his coaching staff that got production out of the likes of Marques Colston and Terrance Copper. Kiffin better get it together because he is more than replaceable.

  75. MR Says:

I am such an inadequate and social inept person that I have delusions of grandeur. I fantasize that my blogging is so meaningful that a person in the Raider Organization cares what I type when I am trolling while tweaking on a blog.

If I ever get un-grounded from the basement and my mommy let’s me go outside I might one day go to a real game, instead of lying and fantasizing about going to games. I wet my bed because I am a scared, insecure and an emotionally weak person. My homosexual tendencies towards ex coach Gruden are a result of my uncle fondling me when I was 5.

You guys should feel sorry for me and not make fun of me anymore….please!!!

  76. Jhill Says:

Like Cable and Kiffin say, we can get oline guys for our system in the later rounds.

If Schillens, Shields, or Watkins don’t work out, then maybe we use a #2 on a WR? But if those guys do work out, we have Curry, Walker, and JLH already who we all know will get their snaps.

Immediate snaps are available at DE and LB.

  77. MR Says:

I am so insignificant that I need a Blog to make me feel like I belong in society. Suicidal thoughts are not something to laugh about OK you guys so please…please stop taunting me as I am about to have a mental breakdown. My mom told me to write this.

  78. MR Says:

I got a job as the mod on this blog and I am sorry I abused my powers and acted like a twerp. It has been fun letting my bi-polar thoughts and dysfunctions dictate my actions by spewing hate towards well meaning people on this blog. I also admit to deleting all of your posts that hurt my feelings while letting my retarded ramblings stay on this blog.

  79. Mistabrown Says:

    Good to hear..

  80. RaiderTay Says:

I know its just preseason. I usually try not to watch preseason. Its so meaningless. The only reason I went to this game is to get a glimpse at DMC.

I know its just preseason, but this game looked bad. The O sucked. JRuss didnt have any touch on the ball. Guys were diving or jumpin for every ball. He exposes his recievers to big shots by having them jump for his passes. That Curry dive should have been 6pts if he could have gotten the ball in stide.

On Defense. I thought the secondary made WAY too many tackles. Wilson will be a beast, but its not a good sign if he leads this team in tackles. That usually mean hey already have 3-5yds.

They got two weeks to get it together or it will be a long season.

  81. John the Comic Guy Says:

This news really sucks. The Nfl needs to:

    1. Go to 3 preseason games 2 weeks apart like discussed earlier and

    2. Not make those games part of the season ticket plan.

Preseason games are a complete rip off!!!

  82. sportsman Says:

hey fellow raiders fans… last night was a taste of how pathetic our D-LINE is. Kelly sucks and he was paid all that money. I told everyone from the start that kelly and sands were pathetic and should have been cut. Now were stuck with too overpaid lineman who can’t stop the run. They weren’t the answer the last 2 yrs so how could they be the answer this year. There was no pass rush what’s so over. Leinart was back there shaving, cutting his finger nails and then threw the ball. Nobody came close. ahhhhhhhhh. Another pathetic seaons. Bring in JOE HORN to replace carter. Walker still sucks. He won’t do anything this year.

  83. The Twerp Says:

C4, thanks for making me laugh.

Glad you’re not going verbal jihad on The Twerp.

See you on the OakTrib’s blog in the regular season for “constructive criticism” of The Al’s team.

  84. Rob Says:

O commom guys its only preseason, at the end of the first half it was only 3-0, and it could have very well been 13-3 us. Zach Miller caught that ball. Janikowski would have made the other two field goals. Its only preseason, were better than we were last season. I just hope we can get two new guys in town to cover our losses with O’Neal and Carter.

  85. Mistabrown Says:

So its not Rob Ryans fault our defense doesnt stop the run! I mean why hold your DC accountable for the defense right OakGlenn ? If the LB’s dont stay in their gaps why should the DC correct that ? That would be silly right OakGlenn?

    # Oakglenn Says:
    August 24th, 2008 at 3:49 pm

I’ve been saying for two years the problem with the run D is not RR. It’s LB’s overpursuing, being in the wrong place, not shedding blocks, and missing tackles.

  86. Tommy Trojan Says:

Sportsman is blind as Kelly was arguably the most dominant player on the field yesterday and Tay is off his rocker as Russell had great accuracy and touch nearly all game, he also made a few quality decisions under pressure. It’s amazing you’re calling out the players who played well. I can’t imagine what you thought of Warren and Waddell.

  87. MR Says:

In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Sunday night, 47 percent of those questioned are backing Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominees, with an equal amount supporting his Republican opponent, McCain.

You know and here it is with Javon Walker, if you do it enough you will eventually get it right. Also with Mc Fadden we have a break away threat, also Walker has enough speed to where he is still a break away threat. So we atleast have the potentials for break away threats. I think defensively were better than last season, I am still optimistic.

  95. Mistabrown Says:

    Dont post political bullsh!t here.

  96. Dakota Says:

I think C4 really does want to forfiet the season, lol.

  97. C4 Says:

The presidential race will be a lot closer than Raider games this year. Want some competition Kiff? Try politcs.

  98. Rob Says:

Forefit the season, thats insane….common now

  99. EasTcoastRaider Says:

I don’t like the way Kiff is so blunt about injuries in the press. I think he should show some of the players a little more respect. I mean I think Oneal knows that his injury is career-threatening, but does he really have to say that in the paper?

I also don’t understand why he told everybody that he planned on “airing it out” ahead of time. Basically, seems to me like sabotage and like he is trying to prove a point. There is nothing wrong w/ trying things in preseason, but why tell your opponent ahead of time, so their secondary can head hunt and play the pass?

  100. Rob Says:

Also last night Arizona was lining up in pass defenses, and the only runs we did were draw plays. It was our intent to throw the ball alot. We should be fine when we start the season and we run the ball alot.

  101. Dakota Says:

We have to win at least 7 games this season….Al can’t afford another top 5 pick.

  102. RaiderLovinGal Says:

I’m wondering if Big Al is already on the phone with Bill Bidwill chatting about Bouldin.

  103. Brown81 Says:

I like Kiffin and certainly don’t want to start the coaching carousel again. However, I am getting to where I’m tired of hearing him whine about his team. Kiff, quit crying and start coaching. You’re not going to get another job if owners perceive you as a cry-baby. Suck it up and coach what you got.

  104. Rob Says:

Well it is only preseason, he wouldnt do that in the regular season.

  105. [Raiders] Raiders FB Oren Harris' Injuries Are Career-Threatening - GridironFans.com Says:

[...] [Raiders] Raiders FB Oren Harris’ Injuries Are Career-Threatening Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin told local media by conference call Sunday evening that fullback Oren ONeals injury was serious enough to be considered career-threatening, saying, it was as bad as it can get and adding it was fortunate TV cameras didnt pick it up. Kiffin said the injury went beyond a simple ACL tear and had other problems. Source: Oakland Tribune [...]

  106. Mistabrown Says:

I think AL went around Bidwell and sent a goon directly to Boldin.

  107. severeraider Says:

    TT,
Im there with you on RJF and Johnson from GT, but do you really think that Hazelton will get that high, he is a sreious under achiever, Patrick Turner would be a better prospect they are both underachievers but Turner has better measurables. Crabtree is the best receiver in the nation but Al would love Maclin. George Selvie is like a mini Burgess and if he can put on some weight that guy will be a terror. Of all of them who would you most like to get, i say Johnson or RJF, he looked a lot btter than Dorsey did against OSU in the title game.

It is obvious you have no football knowledge whatsoever.

Kush the Partiots went 16 - 0 last year, the Raiders went 4 - 12. Dude, you just made me PI$$ myself.

EXACTLY !!!! …the patsies have nothing to prove!!!….when YOU SUCK and get your a$$ kicked by the pathetic cardinals….there is a PROBLEM YOU MORON!!!!

  110. MR Says:

We are not even out of the pre season and the draft geeks are at it again.

Why don’t you guys just get it over with a list every player in college football?

  111. Tommy Trojan Says:

Right now my favorites are Maualuga, RJF, Oher, and DHB. Who we take is a matter of who’s available, who we need, and where we’re picking. There are already projections for all of those things, but projections are meaningless this early.

    dakota,
what’d you think of taos? I live about 45 minutes south of there in espanola. I grew up here so I think taos and santa fe are overrated.

  114. kush Says:

Okay MR which is obviously an acronym for Moron, and Fang , who sounds like he has the bite of a Chihuahua.

It’s not about comparing the Patriots to the Raiders you losers, it’s about getting all bent out of shape over preseason games.

So I guess you two mentally challenged, pseudo fans were jumping up and down for joy when Art Shell and the Bed in Breakfast Regime was 4-1 in the preseason too huh?

Here’s some facts for you two little kindergarten rejects…

Baltimore, Cincinnati,Indianapolis,Denver,Dallas, the NY Giants, Vikings, and Green Bay Packers, all have preseason records of 1-2. Oh my god! Guess what! That’s the same preseason record we have you geniuses who put so much stock in preseason scores and records.

Chicago, Clevaland, and New England are 0-3. I actually have NFL Network you basic cable nitwits, and I’ve followed pretty much all of the preseason games of the afore mentioned teams, and guess what….They all look pretty horrible in the preseason.

Like I said you guys have a -5 football IQ and are a disservice to the knowledgeable, and intelligent Raider bloggers across the World that subscribe and post here.

Oh yeah MR, or whatever multiple personality disorder you are suffering from today, Don’t bother responding either.

  115. Tommy Trojan Says:

I’m putting together lists already and will narrow and adjust my list over the course of the year, but I love scouting, which is why I’ve gotten into it.

  116. CB Raider Says:

    Chill C4
We’ve got a long season ahead. We lost two good players last night. Get upset over that.

  117. C4 Says:

I am upset over that, it just adds to list of reasons why we suck

  118. MR Says:

Good job Kush. You finally got your post in the right place. Good for you. Don’t bother responding.

  119. kush Says:

Bottom line, pre season games don’t mean jack.

I thought wins and losses in pre season games were important too… until I got out of the first grade.

  120. MR Says:

LOL ! Tommy, you sell Raider T-shirts. Get over yourself.

  121. kush Says:

MR you finally took your meds and got high speed internet. Good for you. Don’t bother responding to this post either.

RELAX IT’S JUST THE 3RD PRE-SSN GAME–RELAX IT’S THE 3RD REGULAR SSN GAME–RELAX WE ARE ONLY HALF WAY TROUGH THE SEASON. DAMM 5-11 HOW IN THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN ?

  123. Dakota Says:

    Mario,

The area Taos is located in is beautiful; as I am sure it is in Espanola. We stopped and ate lunch at Michael’s diner and the food was great! We saw lots of beautiful art and other Navajo goods like rugs, blankets and pottery that was very cool. From my limited visit I thought Taos was very nice. The surroundings reminded me of home…the Black Hills.

I only passed through Santa Fe on the interstate, but it looked much nicer than Albuquerque, lol.

  124. MR Says:

Preseason records and scores mean nothing.

Having no heart and pride however, is another story.

  125. MR Says:

Tommy, the only thing lower than a draft geek is a wannabe draft geek.

  126. severeraider Says:

Oher is an athletic freak of a lineman, Johnson has the agility and size of a Julius Peppers/Mario Williams, and RJF will be a dominant force in the middle.

What are your thoughts on Bobby Reid, formerly of Ok st., i personally liked his game while there and feel he got a raw deal. He could be a nice late round QB selection.

  127. garthraider Says:

The draft is in 09,Lets kick a–s this year, the draft will be a mute point! 11bravo for President

  129. Eric Farrell Says:

LOL at people worried about last night’s game….

  130. Eric Farrell Says:

In the regular season this would have been an ugly 17-13 victory..the team would not have gone for two consecutive 4th downs in scoring position, the Cardinals QB had a paltry 4-12 for 25 yards and three int’s…only the dumb Raider fan would overanalyze this..

  131. MR Says:

Kush, were you and Oakglenn made in the same test tube? Don’t bother responding.

  133. garthraider Says:

    So much for preseason results…

  135. Sirbliztalot Says:

    Terrapin,

I agree. Like I said last night in my blog. “Our defense got Lienhart demoted.” Guess what the sports page read this morning: “Kurt Warner to start for Arizona”. Ha! Winning preseason games means absolutely nothing. NOTHING! Let me see if I can use some parables to help some of you (like C4) get this into perspective. It is like shopping at the farmers market for ingredients to make a wonderful salad. You got to pick and poke and feel to get the best, freshest and crisp vegetables. Not too soft not too hard. Not too ripe or not ripe yet. That is what Kiffen is doing. He is brutally honest in his approach but he has the guts to be true to himself and all of us and to ferret out the bad veggies.

Get a grip, C4 dude-sleep in the preseason and stay awake with glee on September 8/9, 2008. Everything is going to be good. You see, you have to look at it like this: This team is a mosaic, the components of offense, defense special teams and coaching meld into a beautiful skull and crossed bones, against a backdrop of a superbowl trohpy. You have to step back so you can see the big picture. Week one: the Raiders dominate the niners and score more points (but who cares, its preseason). Week two: Raiders dominate the Titans (they pull it out with their scrubs – who cares. I’d rather be on this team than the Titans). RR pulls out and tests the Blizter and nullify Vince Young’s speed and elusiveness. Week 3: Raiders announce and then whip out their passing game. Passing game is functional. They put away their running triune because that has been tested and functions perfectly. No need to break that toy in the lab (preseason) before you get to test it on the Grid Iron (regular season). They also shelve the Blitz in week three. Why? Because if you can neutralize Young, it is working! Half stepping against a “potent offense” and we still evoke 3 interception 2 fumbles. Jamarcus Russel’s size speed and arm strength are awesome! His mobility and arm strength are something to behold! And this does not even count! Stop doubting and your fear will fade away and you will sleep like a newborn baby.

  136. Mistabrown Says:

Sir, you say pre-season means nothing but that pre season game got Lienart demoted, pick a side.

  137. Kevin Says:

GET well OREN, the guy was a BEAST as a Rookie. damn man

Carter get well also. Comeback stronger than ever

  138. Kevin Says:

When Kiffin says presason, that means he is not opening up all the packages that they will use for Mcfadden. They are keeping it very vanilla so that Denver d’ coaches dont start gameplanning.

its not that hard to figure out

  139. Sirbliztalot Says:

    MistaBrown,

I see your point. On the surface it does sound like an analytical inconsistency, but what I should have said is the FINAL SCORE means nothing. Obviously, when the starters get toasted by the opposing starters, people end up being benched. Rookies making mistakes gets them cut. So obviously, if you are trying to stay on the roster (or not getting benched) it means something to you. I was tying to remind C4 that losing a pre-season game is nothing to stress about.

  140. E-shizzle Says:

Watch for Shields to step up and be the WR we all been waiting for! I think he should be good to go against the Seattle Suckhawks. His knee has had a good amount of rest.

  141. darkknight01 Says:

Feel real bad for both players….lets hope they can rehab well and come back next year. Obviously now….Schilens and Watkins make the team.

Need a blocking FB. Have to go look at the waiver wire and other teams cuts. As far as a possible internal replacement….I would suggest Darrel Strong be moved to blocking FB or Marcel Reece.

  142. darkknight01 Says:

i’m not discouraged with the raiders shutout loss….it’s preseason….and everyone knew (even the cardinals probably) that they were going to work on the passing game most if not all of the damn game. It was good for Kiffin to do….because the offensive coaches needed to see what they can and can’t do and what needs to be worked on in game situations before the regular season starts. If it were the regular season….no way they pass up on making FG’s or not run the ball in the red zone.
