First quarter: Seahawks 10, Raiders 0
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, August 29th, 2008 at 7:49 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Scoring
Sea–T.J. Duckett 24-yard run (Brandon Couto kicks PAT), 10:50
Sea–Olindo Mare 34-yard field goal, 4:14
– The half ended on an end-around run by the Seahawks, with Logan Payne gaining six yards.
– Passing game issues _ a screen to Darren McFadden blew up when the running back run into John Wade, gaining zero yards, and Arman Shields had a drop of a sideline pass on third down which he indvertantly kicked after it bounced off his hands.
– Luke Lawton, the waiver-claim fullback, has showed decent hands and has two receptions for nine yards.
– The Raiders won a challenge of an apparent completion from Seneca Wallace to Payne for a first down at the 11, forcing the Seahawks back to the 16. On fourth down, Mare kicked a 34-yard field goal.
– Just what the Raiders really wanted to see, Shane Lechler botching a slightly high snap from Jon Condo and then trying to force pass into the end zone, with C.J. Wallace intercepting it and running to the Seattle 43-yard line. Lechler can’t quick because of a quad injury.
– The Raiders missed a touchdown on the previous play when Walter missed an open Johnnie Lee Higgins to his left in the end zone.
– Stop the presses. McFadden broke at least three tackles during 24-yard run _ a facet of his game which has been criticized in the past.
– Higgins ran a kickoff back 58 yards following Seattle’s first touchdown, with Coutu getting him along the right sideline with a near-horse collar tackle.
– Following the Walter fumble, the Seahawk reserves drove 66 yards in five effortless plays culiminating in Duckett’s 24-yard scoring run. Jon Alston got run over by Duckett on one play and Chris Johnson and Michael Waddell were beaten for completions. Recently-signed Nate Lyles whiffed on a tackle attempt on the scoring run.
Seattle had 35 yards rushing and 31 yards passing.
– Although listed as a starter, Robert Thomas wasn’t with the first unit and Alston started in his place.
– The Raiders failed to capitalize after recovering a Justin Forsett fumble when Walter was sacked and lost a fumble, with Seahawks rookie Lawrence Jackson sprinting past left tackle Mario Henderson. Henderson also had a false start on the drive.
– Watkins got open for a potential touchdown on the first play after the turnover, but Watkins misread the pass and turned around rather than finishing his route.
– Justin Forsett, the Cal running back hoping to make the Seahawks roster, fumbled a Glenn Pakulak punt with Michael Bush recovering.
– Seth Wand was called for a false start before the first snap of the game. John Madsen dropped a pass over the middle from Walter on the second.
– For what it’s worth, pregame captains were Marques Tuiasosopo, Alston and Stanford Routt.

whats the record for most throw attempts by a punter in a game??
August 29th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Has anyone else noticed how crappy KTLA’s camera work has been? On a couple of plays, the camera wasn’t within 20 yards of the ball.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
You’re kidding! We’re only down by 10?
August 29th, 2008 at 7:52 pm

August 29th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
All I can say is you guys better hope for an injury free season cause these backups are TER-RRE-BLE
August 29th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Let’s take the touchback on the 20 and let SeaBass practice 90 yard FG’s. Might as well because nobody else is doing anything positive. At least it would be good for a laugh.

Walter’s passes were fine. The problem is on the other end.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
i doubt all 22 backups will ever be on the field at the same time. that is why they call this the boring bowl, it is always a fallacy.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:05 pm

August 29th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
What is going on? I can’t watch it but so far you guys are saying we got a drunk a bad defense and why the hell is our punter passing if he can’t punt? This sounds bad!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:06 pm

August 29th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Trying to run with this O line is insane. These guys are perfect for draws & screen passes. The defenders blow through them with minimal effort. Let’s use our weakness to our advantage.

August 29th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
there killing me
August 29th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
OK we’ve got them where we wanted ‘em. We’ve successfully instilled a false sense of security. Now we can roll out our third stringers - all the guys we signed this week. If we get them laughing hard enough, we will be able to strike while they’re on the ground with uncontrolled laughter.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Wow We cant stop anything!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
i hate ratface.
i am hoping to see his eyeball/forehead vessels bulging, announcer “this isn’t the start the broncos were hoping for…” ratface snapping at anyone in range, gnashing his rat teeth..
August 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
sup fellas! is everyone as scared as me? I am over reacting? second stringers right?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
HOnestly, ALSTON SUCKS!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
This is beyond vanilla. This is sandlot skill level - back-up sandlot skill level at that.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Arena League
August 29th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Alston #47 should be in the stands selling peanuts. Remind me, why is he on the roster?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Know what I hate? Where’s our Seneca Wallace? Why don’t we have backups like that who just come in and get s’t done? He’s like a young Gannon.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
this is so vanilla its almost shell/walsh regular season. almost!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Why is it that when the Raiders telecast is so crappy. The HD is O.K. but the audio suck. Fox football production is usually state-of-the-art. CBS is usually crap vision but when the Raiders play it is like they take out their Wall Mart HD cameras and we are stuck watching garbage telecasts. The niners are CBS right now and the picure and sound is perfect. Is this a conspiracy? What the hell?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
dude!!!!!!!!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Our 2nd half running game will feature Tui running the ball ON EVERY PLAY. Might be interesting.

August 29th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Can some explain to me why Walter is throwing these short passes with only seconds left…I’m tellin’ you he has to kick that habit. Its getting annoying.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
#50 - check out the hometown, etc. Wallace is local.
http://www.nfl.com/players/profile?id=00-0022055
Similar to Rich at that, but better at running, worse at passing, at least so far. He beat us (and Andrew) 16-0 in 2006, Monday nite in the rain, if anyone remembers, had a straight bootleg run left for 37 yds that night.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Man our 2nd strind D if that what it was is very very scary…
August 29th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Chaz Fricken Schilens…..
Told you guys my suprise pick…….
August 29th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
it is good! that was a 50 yarder?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I’m new to this sight, but I must say that since I found it about a month ago, I’ve been checking daily to get my fix. It’s tough to get my fix here in Missouri. All I hear about is the freaking chiefs. We’ve GOT to sweep them this year. I’m tired of hearing their mouths running.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I can’t believe i lost!
August 29th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Keep schilens and Watkins ir shields
August 29th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
OH WELL, SEABASS has shot his wad for the evening.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
yeah but it was all 2nd string
August 29th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
and?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
you won’t see much dropoff from sending in 1 or 2 subs, but all subs in will of course not gel.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Schillens, JLH and Watkins, all playing our weakest spot, seems to be the best on the field..
August 29th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
new thread, guys
August 29th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
