Interesting breakdown…I don’t agree with a lot of it, but hey, it is a Broncos’ slanted review.

Conclusion
This game pits two teams against each other that had terrible years in ‘07. Denver went 7-9 (one of Denver’s worst years in decades) while Oakland went 4-12. Both teams’ fans expect better this year, and both teams’ fans believe their team is far superior to the other. The rest of the League’s fans don’t have either team on their radars.
This game, for the fans as well as the players, goes very far in building confidence for the season. Expect the losing team’s fans to crash with depression, thinking the season is over, while the winning fans expect a fantastic season. Both extremes may be foolish, but that happens when two historicaly powerful teams that are rivals come off of a bad season, and face each other on a MNF game to start the season.
Right now I (a Broncos fan) see Denver as the better team. However, I also believe that Oakland has the talent to beat Denver if Denver doesn’t play at its best. I think both fan bases are undervaluing the opposing team, and the game is hard to predict. Denver has remade themselves with many new faces, but they’ve also gone back to their tried and true “original formula”. Oakland has spent money like mad (the Snyder / Redskins approach) to bring in game busters in the hopes that big names equal wins.
I expect that this game will be a game for the ages, but only for one set of fans. : )

jerrymac - 408Raider: I think Lane is sandbagging a little. Ideally, they’d like to grind Denver into dust with runs, and if it is going that way, they can save some stuff. But they’ve been working on Denver for weeks now and you think he’d like to give McFadden a shot to see what he can do in a lot of areas.

My prediction:
Raiders 30 - Broncos 17
Raiders establish run early. Swap field goals with Donks, Go up 10 - 3 on a 3 yard plunge by Bush. Broncos drive cut short by a Howard interception at mid field. On third and two, McFadden breaks one loose for a 42 yard TD. 17 - 3 Raiders.
Donks close to within 7 on a late drive punctuated by two third down pass completions by Cutler. Half - Raiders 17 Broncos 10.
Raiders add a field goal and go up by 17 when Russel links up with Walker on a 37 yard 3rd down pass.
Broncos are now playing against our strength late in the 3rd quarter down by 17. Early 4th quarter Cutler throws into coverage for his 2nd interception of the night. Raiders play it safe and move into field goal range on series of Bush / Fargus runs. Raiders 30 - Broncos 10.
Cutler throws to some receiver we’ve never heard of for a late score against Ryan’s prevent defense. 30 - 17.
Bronco’s give up ball on downs and Russel takes a knee to end the game.

Giants picking up where they left off, except Jacobs looks bigger and faster. He is knocking people back big time.
Skins looking like the team that got spanked two weeks ago 47-3. Two years ago their owner tired of spending big bucks on free agents and coaches who dont live up to the bargain. So he decided throw big bucks at all the coaches instead of just the head coach and the players.
Look where they are now.

Raiders are the trash of the AFC West. The Raiders have 2 starting o-linemen, carlisle and Cornell Green, neither of whom are good enough to play with Broncos. Not to mention that overrated bozo Gerrard Warren on the D-line. I’m not saying Warren is a bad player, but he’s never gonna be a game changer. Then theres Walker listed as a starter and I assume they brought in Lelie to start as well. I guess the Raiders new motto is “If you can beat them…sign them???”
