Walker needs to practice Saturday
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 2:46 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Quick hits Friday from the Raiders’ practice facility in Alameda:
– Javon Walker (hamstring) did not practice again Friday, working to the side along with defensive end Kalimba Edwards (groin) and Rashad Baker (ankle) rather than risk contact in a team setting.
Coach Lane Kiffin said Walker and Edwards were farther along than Baker, and said both men would need to practice Saturday to be considered available to face the Denver Broncos Monday night at McAfee Coliseum.
When addressing the split end position Wednesday, Kiffin said Ashley Lelie, Todd Watkins and Chaz Schilens had been taking practice reps in place of Walker. As of Friday, the personnel and order had changed.
“We would play Johnnie Lee (Higggins) over there, as well as Ashley. Play ‘em both, and they would both probably split snaps over there,” Kiffin said.
– It will be interesting to see how Russell, with the adrenaline rush of the season opener, responds to being in the open field and taking on defenders.
The Raiders have preached being smart and avoiding the bit hit. Kiffin is not altogether sure what Russell’s plan will be when it comes to abort a play to save himself.
He has never seen Russell slide, and doesn’t think Russell will be going head-first, either.
“Greg (Knapp) used to teach his guys to go head first,” Kiffin said. “But he’s so big I can’t see that happening. There was a study a long time ago, more injuries come from going feet first . . . when you go head first, guys are able to control their direction and the contact isn’t as much. But I don’t see him going head first.”
Earlier in the week, Russell said he’s been taught to protect himself and the team, but conceded his judgment has been questioned in the past with regard to taking on tacklers.
“When I first was getting evaluated, (Jon) Gruden came in and showed me some of my film from college when I tend to lower my shoulder on smaller guys,” Russell said. “He was telling me `I’d fine you on this play, I’d fine you on this play, I’d fine you on this play.’ But my thing is you’re just trying to make a play.
“Now those guys are much bigger and faster. Hopefully I can get down in enough time. But you’ve got to be safe with that each and every play. You never know what might happen. I just try to stay in there for the team.”
– Raiders captains as selected by the team were JaMarcus Russell and Ronald Curry on offense, Derrick Burgess, Nnamdi Asomugha and Kirk Morrison on defense and Shane Lechler on special teams.
– A day after taking a look at free agent linebacker Abdul Hodge, the Raiders had former 49ers outside linebacker Brandon Moore in for a workout. Moore was released when the 49ers signed free agent Takeo Spikes.
“There’s a number of guys that will be coming through to look at,” Kiffin said. “You see a lot of transactions after this first game where contracts aren’t guaranteed and you pick up veterans at that time.”
Seems odd players would be coming in at linebacker, where two every-down players are set in Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard, with strong side starter Ricky Brown also being a special teams player.
– Walker told Denver Post columnist Jim Armstrong he indeed offered to give his $11 million sigining bonus back during training camp until being talked out of it by Al Davis.
“Mr. Davis said, ‘No, don’t focus on that. Let it just go in one ear, out the other and play your game.’ He’s one of those people you need to hear it from. When you hear it from him, it’s kind of like, ‘All right, you’re good to go. You’re all right.’ ”

September 5th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
Cool, sounds like everyone that counts will be playing. Walker will NOT miss this game.

Go Raiders!! Time to whoop some ass (donkey)!!
September 5th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbrutal. Javon - get on the field!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
So Al giving walker $11 million wasn’t enough to motivate him? He also needed Al to tell him to play his game? Is this a case of Walker not liking the criticism from Kiff and Al telling him to not listen to his coach? We see who won that battle..
September 5th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I’m even scared to think about what happens if JR gets hurt. There is no way in hell I want Walter OR Tui in there. I know many people like those two but every time they get some playing time they find a way to jack it all up. I’m tired of people blaming the line, the receivers, or the pass protection in general. They are not GOOD QBs! That’s just my opinion though.
September 5th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I would love to see JaMarcus steamroll over a linebacker ala Bo Jackson.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
TR,
Quit your biotching. If JR goes down we are screwed, just as any other team would be if their #1 QB went down.
Damn, take a midol and change your pad, then come back and complain about something important.

Fukin’ A Darren Woodson! Tell it like it is!
September 5th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Ha ha ha. Are you somehow offended by my opinion? I’m pretty sure you voice yours all the time. how about you throttle it back a bit and play nicely, ha ha.
You basically said the same thing I did but told me to stop biotching…???

TR,
You are complaining about something that can’t be fixed at this point in time. Who do you want other than AW? Culpecker?
September 5th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
I hate shelreth so much I usually don’t watch nfl live while he is on, but the funny thing about bspn is they allways put him on when they are gonna talk about the afc west or even the RAIDERS. What a f’n homer, deusch bag and trey wingo is just as bad. I hate anyone who thinks they are funny just because their momma told them so. Can you imagen if someone hated the patsies as much as stink hates us? They would be fired quiker than you can say TUCK RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Wait a second, can’t de fixed? Immediately, no you are right it can’t be. I’m just saying we knew this coming in that AW and Tui weren’t very good. We could have at least looked for something better, but we never did. Am I stating the obvious? Of course, I am, but J-Mac’s article got me thinking about it again.
Plus we could always pick someone up during the season and release one of the current tragedies. So IT CAN BE FIXED, just not right now. It is just like talking about any other position where we have no depth…like WR!!

wher is everyone???
September 5th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I think Walter did as well as could have been done with the team he had around him and the coaching he had in 2006. When after weeks of being told to drop back seven steps and wait for a reciever to come open on a team that had horrible pass protection, horrible coaching and play calling, very little running game, and a star reciever who had quit on the team, he finally stated the obvious, that they needed more plays where he could release the ball faster, he was benched by the coach for undermining him. I think given another chance he will be very solid. I think Russell is going to be great, but if we need to call on Walter he will be very good too.
September 5th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

mark schelreth is just another SCRUB of the long list of SCRUBS at BSPN.We will see what he has to say after our Raiders get this thing turned around.
September 5th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
El Dirty,
Chris Simms wouldn’t have been a bad option. I mean we could have at least taken a look. However, all-in-all Walter probably matches up with him pretty don’t ya think. Turnovers being the key.
My head hurts just thinking about it.

TR: How good would the PAtriots be if Brady got hurt. Im not even sure who there back up is. The teams that prosper are the teams that avoid injury at all the positions, especeially QB. Its a fact
September 5th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
TAlkin heads have been hatin on the Raiders all week. It sounds cliche, but the Raiders need to prove it on the firld. Thats the only way to shut them up.
Pls no one mention 2006 ever again. Im trying to erase that year from my memory. That year was worst than the Superbowl debatcle and the Tuck game combined.

Kudos to Darren Woodson!!!!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Russell does need to protect himself, but he also needs to make plays. This team can’t win without him. You will see him run for some key first downs in this game.
MNF Prediction: Raiders 20, Broncos 17 - Darren McFadden is the player of the game by breaking off several big runs in the 4th quarter to clinch victory for the home team
September 5th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
The Raiders will never get any respect until they earn in on the field. Even as a Raider fan I can’t argue with that. I am looking forword to the season and I am expecting a winning record and a strong run at a playoff spot. I realize that in the NFL you never play “The little sisters of the poor,” but I could ask for a more favorable schedule either.
September 5th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
I think McFadden breaks off several big runs in the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter Michael Bush batters a worn down donkey defense.
September 5th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
RaiderTay,
Of course we want to avoid injury at all positions, but there are teams out there with VERY capable back-ups, which is what I’m talking about!! I know if a star QB goes down the back-ups USUALLY aren’t going to perform the same as the stars, but what I’m saying is I would like one that is somewhat capable. now understand this is just my opinion, but I don’t think AW or TUI is. Take the shyte with a grain of salt, it’s cool, I’m merely stating an opinion.
September 5th, 2008 at 6:56 pm

September 5th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Shows how thin we are at receiver that if Walker or Curry miss significant time — not unlikely — we’ll be looking at Higgins or a one-dimensional, just-signed Lelie as Russell’s main targets. Yikes. I can’t believe Watkins and/or Schilens wouldn’t play above Higgins. Guess we’ll see. Hopefully Walker is OK.

First play of the offense this season: play-action pass to Zach Miller for 8 to 16 yards.
My friend has another idea: They win the toss and accept the ball, touchback. First down they run and get stuffed. Second down, incomplete pass. Third down, they complete a 12-yard pass and Gibril Wilson pops out the ball for either Hall or Asomogha to pick up around the 32 and return it to the house. The place goes wild. Another touchback following the kick, and it’s another three-and-out. Then… the pass to Miller.
Team rushing over 200 yards. Three big runs by the young guys and Fargas has a solid game. McFadden moves around a lot more than Kiffin intimated and we run a few wide-receiver screens to Darren. We win under the lights. The post-game fireworks look all the more brilliant against the dark night sky. My voice will sound like Don Corleone when I go to work on Tuesday as a counselor: “so you come to me with your problems… I think it’s time to bring in the family.”
Enjoy the game, Raider family.

Check this crap out…………
FOX AFFILIATE BUYS UNSOLD CHARGERS TICKETS
Posted by Mike Florio on September 5, 2008, 4:46 p.m.
The Chargers avoided having their regular-season opener blacked out in San Diego when the brand-new, local FOX affiliate bought the balance of the unsold tickets.
The team announced the development today.
Typically, CBS will televise Chargers games. But when they host an NFC team, FOX has the game.
“Charger fans all around San Diego are excited to see this new season begin. Now every fan not attending the game will be able to see it on Fox 5 San Diego”, said Ray Schonbak, Fox 5 San Diego vice president and general manager. ”Fox 5 San Diego is the new home for the ‘NFL on Fox’ and we are thrilled to kick off the season and showcase the Chargers’ home opener this Sunday. It’s important that all fans be able to enjoy this game. Go Chargers!”
Yeah, go Chargers! They’re an elite NFL team, and they can’t even sell out their own stadium. Go Chargers, indeed. To another city.
September 5th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
shut up about kiffin being fired already!! let the man coach b4 throwing him under the bus. He got the team in the right frame of mind and in the right direction, look at our previous coaches, i say he done alot since hes gotten here, so if kiffin is gone by the bye week then you must have no faith in our raider team going 2-2 or 3-1! i say 3-1 lets roll raiders!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Max E. Padd,
Don’t soak up this bloody nonsense from the (dis) Chargers media affiliate. We’ve had the worst five years of our history and we’ve sold out 13 of the last 16, or something like that, and it’s been this way ever since the Raiders took over (read Amy Trask) and the OFMA disbanded. When the Raiders took over ticket sales I could tell it was important to them to work things out right. The woman who answered the phone said she was unfamiliar with the computer system and would have someone call me who did. She said her name was Amy. I said, “Amy?”, and she replied, “yes, Amy Trask, and this is not my usual department.” I thanked her for showing such dedication and devotion to the team and fans by bodying-up and hitting the phones. She acknowledged the importance of getting things right for the fans, the Raider family. At least when we buy out our tickets for the game it goes to local youth groups who might not otherwise be able to attend the game.
Let the Chargers show their true colors… a nice yellow streak running down their legs.
In a couple of days… it’s time to eat some horse meat, maybe carpaccio style.
I’m thinking about this recipe:
Bronco Carpaccio
Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2005
Show: Good Eats
Episode: Tender is the Loin 2
8 to 10 ounces bronco tenderloin from the tip end of the roast
4 handfuls arugula or mixed greens
Your favorite vinaigrette
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Shaved Parmesan
Wrap the tenderloin in plastic wrap and place in the freezer for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, unwrap the tenderloin and thinly slice the bronco into approximately into 1/8 to 1/4-inch pieces. Lay out sheets of plastic wrap and place each slice onto the plastic. Top with another piece of plastic and gently pound the meat with a meat mallet until paper thin. Repeat until all of the meat is sliced and pounded. Divide the meat evenly among 4 chilled plates. Serve with greens tossed with vinaigrette, salt, pepper and/or Parmesan.
Enjoy this Monday Night Football Feast!

September 5th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
TR post 19:
It’s all a matter of opinion. We can agree to disagree and still just hope for the best with our Raiders.
I for one think and believe that Andrew Walter is an excellent QB, and I feel just fine and confident with him as back up. Is he as good as Russell, no, no way. However, for a backup, he’s very good and he would be a starter on some teams. He should be a starter next year for some team in which he’s a system fit. No doubt about that.
Now Tui, he really sucks. He’s OK to carry a clip board but that’s about it. If it came to TUI, I would just put in MaFadden and let him run the team as he did in Arkansas. No way, under any circumstances would I let Tui take a snap.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
It must be an “84″ thing. Porter/Walker both wearing the same number, both not living up to their potential, and both hamstrung.

September 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Brandon Moore would be a great pick up at this stage of the game. He has played inside and outside as a linebacker and he has been a DE as well. He was the heart and soul of the 49ers 06 defense. I beleive he was the teams defensive mvp that year; however, it seems Nolan was never a big fan of his. He would help the tea more than Sam Williams.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Raiderkoolaid…post 31:
I totally agree with you. Andrew Walter will start for some team next year and if he’s a system fit, he’ll do very well.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Javon is just a player that does not care for practicing. He has always been that way, and will never change. He can make plays, and that is what they paid him for.

Yeah, felt the tremor in Santa Cruz too. We must be having a late short-yardage/goal-line practice.

We felt it here too, I think it was Turdell Sands jumping up to get his twinkies off the top shelf. Vertical leap = 4″. John Elway, the only player in NFL history who can eat an apple through a chain link fence. Go Raiders
September 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Dick V…post 66:
From comments posted on this site before, maybe it was Dakota, this is Walter’s last year, unless we sign a new contract with him. That’s why some guys were stating that Walter should have been traded while we still had value for him. I’m glad that didn’t happen, because we would have no backup for Russell. Tui doesn’t count as a backup, he just can’t cut it.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I think Walter has the skill to start in the NFL, just not in Kiffin’s system. He’s a classic Al Davis drop back QB, but I can’t think of too many teams that have a good enough line for that kind of system or QB to have success.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
alright!!! what did woodson say? im not that bright to see it…
September 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
I believe that the big question on many of us Raider fan’s is how much rope is Kiffin going to give Russell. I’m hope that he shows the kid confidence, that he opens the offensive up, that he takes some long shots and many mid-range shots as well. I don’t want to see a conservative dink and donk show.
And, as for McFadden, I’m hoping he has ideas on how to best utilize him, and that he cuts loose on all these options. Make a statement to all the other teams watching Monday football. MaFadden is going to be hard to stop and that he’s going to be a force to deal with…one that puts big time fear into opponents.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Kiff needs to shut his pie hile and get out of Walkers way. Forreal. Who cares if he practices on Sat. As long as he shows up when the lights come on. He can pull a Plaxico for the rest of the season all I care.
I truly belive that Kiff overworks the team in practice. Half of the team sat out one training camp practice. Theywere all diged up. Its too early for that crap. This is not college. These are professionals. They know what they hell they are doin.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Tay, I disagree with your assesment that Kiffin is overworking them. That said, Kiffin may realize what Walker’s approach to practice is and may be fine with it, but he has to criticize him and make practice appear essential, otherwise it looks unfair to the rest of the team.
Or maybe he just wants to be hard on Walker until he sees results in the actual games. Who knows.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Plz Explain People!
Why in the HELL does everyone want Kiff GONE?
1.Who is going to take his place? WHO??? TELL ME??????
2.You bring in another coach with a different philosophy who suffers? WHOOO? Are young PLAYERS & the FANS. Thats it NOOOO one else! We as FANS have suffered tooooo LOOONNGGGGGG through LOSING seasons to get these young and upcomming Pro Bowl Players to lose them MENTALLY or let them walk to another team and become PB players. Let them grow with some continuity that will also bring free agents becuz we have a system with Identity with no one looking over their shoulder or second guessing the coach becuz he will be gone soon anyway. We Won’t have to OVER PAY$$$ just for FA players to come into the NATION. It should be a PRIVILEGE to play for the S&B now its looked at as second choice.
3.What will happen to our ZBS and Great run game if KIFF FIRED & Cable let go. YEP now we have no passing game and NO RUN game becuz or QB is too young and still needs to Develop and the orchestrater of the RUN GM (ZBS) is GONE. THINK PEOPLE! With the players KIFF has been given he has done a good job. Then being strapped with Scholarship players and horrible Mgmnt he can’t develop the team the way any coach would to make his team better. PLZ STOP with the KIFF needs to go or should be FIRED.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
75,
Remember Gruden and Gannon. Dink and dunk was the name of the game. You start with high percentage attempts, secure a lead and then hold on for dear life! It worked very well for the Raiders. They rose from the ashes under Gruden, but then Al let Gruden escape. Kiffen is like Gruden except he has balz. His game plan is not excruciatingly conservative. I bet we win this one on three rushing T.D.’s (1 Bush, 2 Dmac) and two passing (Miller and Schillens.) 35-24 RAIDERS WIN!!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Kiff needs to shut his pie hile and get out of Walkers way. Forreal. Who cares if he practices on Sat. As long as he shows up when the lights come on. He can pull a Plaxico for the rest of the season all I care.

THIS ATTITUDE IS WHY WE HAVE THE WORST RECORD IN THE LAST 5YRS! THIS IS WHY WE HAVE LEAD THE LEAGUE IN PENALTIES. YOU THINK GRUDEN WOULD HAVE PUT UP WITH THIS SHHOIT NO. THATS WHY HE LEFT AND KICKED ARE ASSUP AND DOWN THE FIELD IN THE SB. LET KIFF PUSH HIS PLAYERS UNTIL THEY PROVE THEY CAN BE GIVEN SLACK BY GIVING US WHAT WE ALL WANT A WINS.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
What up Raider fans!!!! Can’t wait for Monday to get here. I hear way too many of you so called Raider “fans” jumping to conclusions. Let’s at least get through the first game before you decide how our seasons going to go. Too much hatin on Al (who like it or not, he’s the reason most of us are Raider fans) and Kiffin (I’m still in!!!!!!). I’ve got a hunch that our season is going to go better than a lot of you think. We definitly need some of the vets to step up (Sands, Sam Williams, and every single person on the O-line) and we gotta take the training wheels off some of our younger players, sure they’re going to make some mistakes along the way but they give us the best chance of winning. GO RAIDERS!!!! DONKEYS SUK!!!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Tay, 76,
I respectfully disagree. I like Kiffen’s brutal honesty. Every coach has their own style. Kiffen just happen to have an intrepid and unique style. He is no respecter or players. He expects them to perform up to their potential or not play at all. I can’t recall any coach ever standing up to Al Davis like Kiffen does. I believe Kiffen is going to prove to be an excellent coach. All of you Kiffen haters should spend more time criticizing someone who has failed every year he was here: ROB RYAN!!! His defensive schemes have lost so many games I cant count them on both hands. What will you say when at the end of 4 weeks, when we are 3-1 (we lose to Buffalo) and are in first place in the AFC west under Coach Kiffen’s command? Will you still want him to ween the primadonna players for game day.

Another coach who never gives his players too much hype and has done pretty good for himself if the Tuna. He never mentioned TO by name the whole time he was there and he was clearly one of their best player. Maybe just maybe Kiff can have the same inflence on Javon.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
I vote Kiffen stays on the Island!
September 5th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
post 31 right on the money mr. koolaid. despite his lack of mobility trust Walter’s arm and mind more than JR’s at this point, but jr is the future and can throw on the run (making something of nothing) every now and then. With a good line, Walter will be awesome someday!
September 5th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
I just hope Kiffin wants to stay, remember what happened to Chucky. I know none of us would be able to take another year of Art Shell and his B&B offense.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Lou 86,
I agree Lou, if you suck up to players you lose their respect. But I don’t think Walker can carry TO’S jock strap. If Walker is mentally weak, he will attain the stats of a TO.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Opps!
He will NOT attain T.O. stats

Is there any body out there?
Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
Come on, now.
I hear youre feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I cant explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.
Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
Therell be no more –aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. good.
Thatll keep you going for the show.
Come on its time to go.
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

I agree that Walker should practice, It would be better for JR to throw to the guys he has been practicing with. The back ups dont seem to be ready to go.. so lets go!

Natalie Coughlin
I am suprised nobody has been bragging on this ultrafine example of a Bay Area fox.
She won a handful of gold medals at the Olympics swimming her superior arse off.
She was just on NFL and said she is a big Raider fan.

I did some number crunching on last years results to create my own power poll by use of my own formulas. I then made adjustments based on player additions / subtractions / injuries and personal predjudices. Based upon this poll, here are my predictions for this weeks results (sorry about the late Wash/NYG prediction):
Washington at New York G. NY by 6
Detroit at Atlanta Atlanta Even
Cincinnati at Baltimore Baltimore Even
New York J. at Miami New York Jets by 3
Kansas City at New England New England by 19
Tampa Bay at New Orleans New Orleans by 6
St. Louis at Philadelphia Philadelphia by 11
Houston at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh by 6
Jacksonville at Tennessee Tennessee Even
Dallas at Cleveland Cleveland by 3
Seattle at Buffalo Seattle by 1
Carolina at San Diego San Diego by 11
Arizona at San Francisco San Francisco Even
Chicago at Indianapolis Indianapolis by 11
Minnesota at Green Bay Green bay by 3
Denver at Oakland Oakland by 4
I do not necessarily agree with all of these predictions, but I will tweak my formula as the season progresses. Some major differences between my numbers and the Vegas spread:
Cleveland / Dallas (Vegas = Dallas by 6)
Denver / Oakland (Vegas = Denver by 2.5)
Opinions?

An article from News Services says that Shanarat claims he hasn’t been fooled by Lane Kiffin of the Raiders to the extent that McFadden has only been used between the tackles. Shanarat claims that they’re prepared for anything and he wouldn’t be surprised if McFadden is used as he was in Arkansas: “a kick returner, receiver and a passer too.” Shanarat said: “He has big play potential every time he has the ball.”
I’m sure our coaching staff is more aware of the abilities that MaFadden has more than anyone else. They’ve had first hand, day to day, exposure of his talents. The question we all have is to what extent is Kiffin going to use those talents. If you believe all the “smoke and mirrors” that Kiffin has given the press/media then MaFadden will get a few carries to get a feel for the ball and to make sure he doesn’t fumble. And, if you believe that you’ll believe anything. No, Kiffin is aware that his future in the NFL or even as a college head coach, is dependent on what he does this year. He also knows that he has to win and he has to win now. Like Warden Norton told Fritz: “Not tomorrow, not after breakfast, NOW!” If Kiffin can’t produce by the bye week, then his opportunities may not exist beyond that point in time. With Al at the helm, nothing is for sure. Kiffin is no ones fool. Kiffin will do everything humanly possible to WIN and to WIN early, and if that means using MaFadden to the fullest, then don’t be surprised if he returns a punt in the second half if we’re trailing. Don’t be surprise if MaFadden runs a sweep and stops to pass long to Walker.
Ya, Monday is going to be a fun day for all Raider lovers. It’s the beginning of our road to glory, it’s the beginning of a very good year, a year where many”homers” start to come over to the Raiders side, professing all the time that they have always been Raider fans. You know the phonies.

The Big Ten sucks as mighty as the Missisippi river
Ohio is beating the buckeys down and USC comes to town next week.
That star linebacker should have came out last year.
Looks like they are handling him fairly easily.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:59 am
You don’t fool too many teams in the NFL on a consistent basis so who cares what Shanrat is ready for
….you win if you can execute. If our guys execute and are tough in the trenches, then we’ll win and McFadden will bust loose based on his superiour talent.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:01 am

Who’s going to the game?
What are you cooking at the tailgate?
How much beer will be consumed in the parking lot?
# of arrests before halftime?
How many Donkey fans will get pummeled?
Inquiring minds want to know!
September 6th, 2008 at 11:38 am
A friend and I are flying out from Wyoming to watch the game. Unfortunately, my friend is a Broncos fan. I will be geared up in the silver and black, but is there problems with people wearing Broncos jerseys there? Will we run into trouble with him wearing a Broncos jersey? Thanks… Go Raiders
September 6th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Wyoming..they’ll open a can of whipass on that guy….tell him to put a bag over his head and he’ll be safe

Wyoming fan
No problem as long as he wears an Elway jersey and carries a sign saying he love Shanahan. We’ll all welcome him to the black hole!

I will answer your questions if no one else will:
About 65k plus Bay Area Raider fans that have tickets.
Hot dogs, Steak, Chicken, ribs, brot’s, Donkey meat etc.
A lot of beer will be consumed seriously a lot!!
4-6 arrests by halftime is the Vegas line
Not enough in my opinion but I would guess the Vegas odds are 6-8 bronc-hoe fans getting their collective asses kicked by games end.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
LMFAO 666
I am attempting to have Philly cheese steaks. 2 cases of beer there are 5 of us and I’ll probably drink a lot more than the others considering one is the DD. My bet is 20-25 arrests due to it being the first game and the police wanting to set an example. I don’t think many donkey fans will get in the gate. Which reminds me I forgot to ask How many Hours will it take to get through the gates? (Love hearing them chant RAIDEEEERRSS! RAIIIIDEEERRRRS!
