Lights, camera . . . Javon
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at 2:22 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Lane Kiffin said during training camp he doesn’t have much use for the whole concept of playing “when the lights go on.”
If Javon Walker has a big game against the Denver Broncos Monday night at McAfee Coliseum, he may have to revise his thinking.
Kiffin stopped short of sayng Walker would start because he wants to see him again during Sunday’s closed walkthrough and in pregame warmups. But Walker apparently looked good to go Saturday.
“We didn’t do a lot today but he did everything full speed,” Kiffin said. “He was very impressive.”
Kiffin left only a small room for doubt.
“Ii’s not the ideal situation, but we’re going to evaluate it again and look at it,” Kiffin said. “There’s some risks with it whenever a guy doesn’t practice very much during the week. There’s the risk of re-injuring it as well so we’ll look at all of it up to an hour and half before kickoff.”
Walker has missed practices and played before and doesn’t sound as if he thinks it’s a big deal.
“There’s been a lot of athletes, including myself, where previous times in Green Bay, I’ve had injuries. I was able to rest early in the week and then kind of jog around on Friday and then go out, know my assignments, and then play on Sunday,” Walker said. “`Sometimes that’s what happens. I’ve been in that predicament before. I’m not quite sure how they handle it in other places. Like I said, however and whatever they would want me to do to help the team, I’m willing to do it. Whatever gives us the best chance to win, I’m all for it.”
– Putting Edwards on the field in his role as a nickel rusher is less problematic than opening with Walker, Kiffin said.
“Kalimba’s more of a pass rusher in nickel for us and wouldn’t start,” Kiffin said. “Kalimba would be easier to pull the trigger on a last minute activation than it would be with Javon. There’s so much full speed stuff he’s going to have to do right away.
– Kiffin said he’s been impressed at how fast Ashley Lelie has picked up the offense and sounded as if he would be more comfortable with a player of experience suiting up as opposed to street free agent Todd Watkins and seventh-round draft pick Chaz Schilens.
“You do have to take into consideration when you look at young guys that have never played before the fact that it is Monday night, it is their first game,” Kiffin said. “As good as guys can be, even the top rookies, you have to continue to talk to them, make sure they’re going back to the basic fundamentals. I’ve seen big games all the time where guys make decisions and choices that you’d never see them make otherwise.”
– The other day, Kiffin said McFadden wouldn’t be returning kickoffs. That stance appears to be softening. He said Saturday McFadden was an option as a kickoff return man, although Johnnie Lee Higgins would start.
While not an advocate of giving McFadden a regular role on kickoff returns, there are times to seize the moment. If the Raiders return the opening kickoff, it is one of those moments.
– Interesting column by colleague Carl Steward on former Raiders defensive tackle Chester McGlockton, who his coaching the defensive line at Hayward’s Chabot College and dealing with the daily pain which goes along with an NFL career.
– Matt Tuiasosopo, younger brother of Raiders quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, started at third base for the Seattle Mariners against the New York Yankees Friday night and had a double in four at-bats. He was a September call-up from Triple-A Tacoma.
– Taking a shot at the Raiders has become a fairly regular feature for former personnel exec Mike Lombardi in his new gig as a columnist for The National Football Post (thenationalfootballpost.com)
On Thursday, Lombardi included his own scathing scouting report on Walker prepared on behalf of the Denver Broncos last season, when he was working for free in the personnel department. On Friday, Lombardi wondered if the Raiders were regretting their decision to cut third-round pick Quentin Moses last season, writing that Moses was looking strong as a Miami pass rusher.
– Correcting an item in a Thursday blog, the Raiders will be televised in their home market for the 14th time in their past 17 games since taking over ticket sales from the Oakland Football Marketing Association, impressive numbers since they were 6-26 overall during that span.

We shouldve kept Moses….will probably be better than Scott.

Mike Lombardi can go fck himself.

Lights, camera …. It’s On!!!!
Last year Kiffin & Co straighten out the run game (29th to 6th). Year two under Kiff, Russell and the pass offense make similar strides.
The D-line is still a concern but overall the D should be improved with the acquisitions of Wilson & Hall.
The Donkos won’t know what hit them.
GO RAIDERS!!!!!

Playtime is over. Everything counts now. No room for mistakes. Its time to win and turn our Raiders back to being a respectable franchise again. I was hoping to hear something about Brandon Moore or Abdul Hodge. We’ll see what happens. YA KNOW?!
September 6th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Raider Al X your right on with that!!!!! And i’ll be there Monday Night to see that LIVE. GO RAIDERS!!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
can they sign them with only one game played or do they have to wait till the last game hits 0:00
September 6th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Wow! getting fricken pumped up for this Monday night game. Hells Bells will be Rock n the House. Who do you think will lead the team onto the field? Morrison maybe?
September 6th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Trevor Scott has way more upside than Moses imho.Scott just started playing football 4 years ago.It will be interesting 2 see how both of their carrers turn out tho
September 6th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Cutler’s stats from last year against us:
39 of 65 for 483 yards. 1 TD & 4 INTS. Passer Rating 65.5.
With Their #1 WR suspended, our corners will own Cutler.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Raider Al - lmao - yeah thats what a “real” qb can do - where did that donkey lover go now anyway?
September 6th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Lombardi spouts venom about our football acumen as if the championship trophy was named after him. He did some good things for us and has now reduced himself to like so many other media teams: the Oakland Haters. His value to media consumers lies (pun intended) in recapitulating what people who dislike the already hold in their anti-Raider bias. It’s not that he doesn’t know football, but these media soothsayers always seem to miss the team that jumps surprisingly into the playoffs. No one talked about the Giants before the playoffs….
Raider on,
Guamanian Raider
September 6th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Anyone watch AFC Playbook on NFL Network? Sterling Sharpe made a good point about the run game. Donkos won’t be able to depend on it as much. We have a 3 to 1 advantage there (Fargas, Run DMC & Bush vs Selvin Young).
That along with Cutler’s play against us last year = a Raider Ass Wooping!!!!!!

Moses was also cut by Buffalo (I think that was the team) last year. Considering J. Taylor is gone, I guess Miami is in need of a new pass rusher.
I don’t think we really missed too much w/ Moses.
Lombardi is always going to take shots at the Raiders, but the more he does it and especially the more he is wrong, the less credibility he has.

Before his senior season Moses was rated as the top senior player at any position. If he would ve done the smart thing and left after his junior season he would have almost vertainly been a top 20 pick. Scott will likely have either the Darnell Bing problem and not be able to put on enough weight to be effective, or have the Randal Williams problem and put on too much weight, lose speed, and become stiff and ineffective. Trevor has “pontential” but Moses has “talent”.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
He was cut by Arizona….who just happens to have Bertrand Berry playing at his position and who rarely comes off of the field.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Can’t wait for all the Media-Haters to choke on the crap they’ve been writing about the Raider Nation.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Wow. Kiff said someone was very impressive. That probably means Javon went for 50000 yards in practice. Kiffin doesn’t B.S. around so that’s good to hear from him.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
DP,
He is also apparently very impressed with Lelie.

Sparano: Development of Anderson, Moses ‘Critical’
By Ben Volin | Thursday, August 21, 2008, 01:09 PM
Lawrence Taylor. Willie McGinest. DeMarcus Ware.
Bill Parcells’ teams always feature a fierce pass rusher on the outside.
That’s why Thursday’s practice was so important. For the first time since Aug. 7, all eight outside linebackers were healthy and participating fully.
Joey Porter has been up and down with knee, ankle and back injuries. Vonnie Holliday and Charlie Anderson strained their hamstrings.
On top of that, this is a brand new 3-4 defense. Quentin Moses, Matt Roth and Holliday are learning the transition from pure defensive end to the hybrid end-linebacker position featured in a 3-4.
With so many guys learning the position, and so many guys going up and down with injuries, head coach Tony Sparano said “it’s pretty critical” that Moses and Anderson, listed as backups, develop into serviceable pass-rushers.
“That’s a position where right now you can never have enough of these outside linebackers,” Sparano said at his Thursday afternoon press conference. “Quentin has been the one guy who has been out there each day and has really taken advantage of that. Today was nice to have them all out there on the field, but it is critical and I think at some point they’re all going to have to help us.”
Anderson began training camp as the Dolphins’ starting weakside linebacker, with Porter on the strongside. But with Anderson missing almost two weeks of practice, Porter got switched to the weakside, Anderson got bumped down to the second team, and Matt Roth took over at strongside.
Anderson finally got back on the field today. He had done nothing more than ride an exercise bike since injuring his hamstring Aug. 9 against Tampa Bay.
“I was happy to get Charlie back out there,” Sparano said today. “He’s doing really well right now, did a nice job in his rehab. It’s still a day-to-day thing with him as we go out there, but today was a good day. We were able to get him some work, get him rushing the passer a little bit.”
Moses, entering his second NFL season, has the most to prove. He was the first pick of third round pick in 2007 out of Georgia, but didn’t even make the Raiders out of training camp. Arizona picked him up the next day, but discarded him in October. Finally, he landed with the Dolphins, and appeared in five games with 1.5 sacks last year.
He began training camp at Anderson’s backup at the weakside, but now is listed with the Third Team, and could be in danger of being cut next week.
Sparano said Thursday that Moses has played about 40 snaps in each of the two exhibition games, but Moses does not have a tackle or a sack yet.
“In the first game I thought he probably got a little bit fatigued

Lombardi’s take, which is below is the reason why this guy was and never will be a good judge of football. As he often does, tell us the fans what to look for or how a team should operate. Lombardi has tried to be a slayer towards the Raiders to help his employment, yet no team has hired him yet, also to spite Davis he worked for Denver for no salary and it still wasn’t helpful.
Lombardi was hired by Davis in the Gruden era, at the time of the hiring he was unemployed and was a CBS football analyst on their pre game show.
Remember last year when the Raiders cut Quinten Moses, their third-round pick? (How does a team that wins two games cut a third-round pick?) Well, they might want to watch tape of him in the Kansas City game this preseason. He looks very impressive rushing the passer. Granted, it was against the Chiefs offensive line, but the Dolphins have to feel pretty good about that pick up. Like most Dolphin players, he plays hard and is very physical.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Mike the Raiders are offering a class for woman: Football 101, I hope you can be there.
Moses 40 snaps no tackles, no sacks, great job Lombardi.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
We’ll know about Javon pretty early in the game, Don’t be surprised if Kiffin has JR take a shot down the field early.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
What does it mean when it says “Your comment is awaiting moderation”? Is IT looking to delete it? Did I give away some Raider secret?
September 6th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Javon is ready to go. He is the type of player Kiffin does not like unless he makes plays. If he makes plays, all will be well. If he does not he will shoot back at Kiffin saying he does not give him the ball enough to make plays. I can here him now: ” i am a play maker, I need the ball to make plays. Everyone in the media and around the league can take shots at Oakland for signing Javon. For the most part they are right. Javon will eventually cry like Gart Sheffield does eventually with all his teams. The thing that all these talking heads miss is that Javon is hands down a better wr than Jerry Porter. Javon got over paid, but so did Porter: 5 yr 30 milly, 10 milly in gauruntees. Porter is older than Javon. Porter decided to have a surgery to repair a hamstring before training camp, and he has barely got back to practice.
My point is that the Raiders have improved with the signing of Javon either way you look at it. Javon is a cry baby that does not like to practice, but the Raiders knew that when they signed him. He gives Jamarcus a real threat on the outside not just two possesion receivers.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Let’s be serious, ALL wide receivers are head cases, if they get 10 balls thrown at them they’ll whine that they should have had 15 balls thrown at them. We are way better off with Porter gone! Potential, my @ss
September 6th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
lol at Quentin. Guy is weak. Scott is better. and LOL at that PHAT PHUCK Lombadi. Maybe he could play DT for the Broncos

Good story for a boring Sat
Raiders cornerback DeAngelo Hall can hold a grudge. Ask Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith. Throw former coach Bobby Petrino and much of the Falcons’ organization that drafted him, nurtured him and tolerated him for four years in that group, too.
Then there is, or was, Samuel Hall, the man who gave him life and his last name.
DeAngelo could never completely run or hide or talk down or get away from Samuel Hall as much as he tried for most of his 24 years. Hall and his father weren’t close, but Samuel was around. Both lived in the Chesapeake, Va., area, where someone always seems to know someone who knows you. There was no falling out or blow up before or after his mother and father divorced years ago that caused the distance between Hall and his dad. DeAngelo and Samuel never established enough of a relationship to get that far.
DeAngelo Hall, CB
Oakland Raiders
Age: 24
Height: 5-10 Weight: 195
College: Virginia Tech
Experience: 5th seasonIn fact, the two-time Pro Bowler never spoke of him.
Until now.
Now that he’s gone.
Samuel Hall died Aug. 24, the same day DeAngelo said he awoke to wish his mother, Joan Hall, a happy birthday. The irony of the timing wasn’t lost on the emotional cornerback, who flew from Northern California to his native Virginia soil in the Tidewater region to visit his ailing father before Samuel, 65, took his last breath after infection and illness borne out of a car accident.
“I didn’t have a great relationship with my dad,” Hall said. “He came to some of my games as a kid, but he hadn’t been to Atlanta or any of my games as a professional. It wasn’t all him. It was probably a little of both of us. He just wasn’t around. It wasn’t like some people’s parents, where the dad comes around when they make it to the NFL. It wasn’t like that at all. Matter of fact, when I got to the NFL, that pushed him farther away. He wasn’t like everyone else who came around when the money came.”
Hall paused: “This was closure for me.”
He went on: “Even though me and him didn’t see eye-to-eye and weren’t on the same page didn’t mean I didn’t love him, that I didn’t have more time to patch things up and get it right. But time ran out.”
Hall, who wears his emotions louder and more in the open than most, wasn’t openly fazed as he discussed his father’s passing. That’s how Hall is, though. When you expect him to cry, he offers you comfort. A seemingly certain outburst can actually result in deep, thoughtful dialogue. He can also blow in a million different directions, which is why Atlanta traded him to Oakland last spring, despite his 17 interceptions, 228 tackles and gifts as one of the NFL’s better cornerbacks.
Greg Trott / Getty Images
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin talks with DeAngelo Hall during camp.
Hall said he doesn’t know how he’s going to feel from day-to-day now. He’s experienced the death of a family member before, when his brother Kevin was murdered when Hall was 10. He has yet to let go of that tragedy. Hall said he has learned a lot about life since then and said he’s trying to keep as much of the negative as possible in his rear-view mirror. Still, he has never ruled out that some of his volatility could stem from dealing with a brother that he looked up to being gunned down.
Moving forward, Hall said he’s happy to be in Oakland and paired with Nnamdi Asomugha, one of two cornerbacks he says might be better than him. He begrudgingly conceded that Denver’s Champ Bailey is No. 1. Hall also dropped the gauntlet on Denver corners Dre Bly and Bailey — the Raiders open with Denver on Monday night in Oakland — claiming he and Asomugha are the best tandem in the league. Hall also said the battle for individual cornerback supremacy in ‘08 begins in Week 1, and he plans to be the winner by the end of season.
That’s the D-Hall most of the world knows.
There’s another layer to Hall, now, though. One that caught him off guard.
The father he never really knew is now the father he wished he knew better. Mortality has a way of trumping loquaciousness — and grudges.
“Since then, I wake up every day trying to be a better dad,” Hall said. “Better than he was. I hug my kids more. Tell my wife and my mom I love them every day. It’s different. I can’t take anything from him, though. Without him there would be no me. I’m going to be taking him on the field with me every day.
“I have to admit it. I love him to death.”
September 6th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Yo Jerry, could you talk to your web folks. Having virtually no success picking up the articles about the Raiders. No problem picking up your blog though.
September 6th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Raiderfan,
Good story, Thanks. It sounds like he’s gained maturity.

Sometimes I get the feeling Kiffin is trying to sabotage the season. Does it not seem that he doesn’t like anybody on the team?
September 6th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
#33 its not sabotage - he just downplays everything -its his way…

Kiffin loves mind games!
September 6th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Severraider post 22, Imho there is some reason Moses was cut,ie he didnt fit the type of player this system is looking for.Im sure he will be a good pick-up 4 the Fins, but 4 you to totally diss on Scott saying he will end up this or that is a bit pre-mature at this point Imho.RAIDERS:34 donkeys:6

anyone think lelie will have a few catches? the problem isnt really our recievers im leaning on the problem more on the offensive line. if jamarcus has time to get the ball off expect a good game from him i dont care if hes still a rook hes got the stuff to get her done. like someone mentioned earlier im really worried about kwame harris protecting russels blind spot.

When I lived in Tampa, my favorite place to watch Raiders games was at the sports bar. Several of us fans in the (Tampa)Bay Area would get together and drink and yell and scream at the giant screen.
Great times. There is something to watching games with a bunch of Raiders maniacs.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Good to read Javon seems ready to go and looked “impressive” according to Kiffin.
And it looks like Kiffin is pleased with Lelie as well:
“He’s a professional,” Kiffin said. “And you can see by the way he prepares and how fast he’s picked everything up.”
If they remain healthy, Walker, Curry and Lelie could turn out to be a dangerous trio.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
K-Rock…
Here in my area, there is a nice little sports lounge.
Only a couple of blocks away. Watch many a game there. Always a good Nation turn out. Fun times
September 6th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Art,
Imo whatever we get from Lelie is gravy seeing how we just signed him. I hope Watkins or Chaz get a couple of catches.
I think both (OFF & DEF) lines are our achilles heels. On OFF our front five really has to man up so that we don’t have to keep Miller or a RB in to help. Give JR more options.
On DEF, being able to leave Aso & Hall on an island, letting Gibril come up into the box, should help out in the run.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Hmmmm! Mike Lombardi’s email address at the post is

Hope he doesn’t get email bombarded or spammed, LOL!
September 6th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
There´s a good chance either Watkins or Schilens will not be active for the game.
You only dress 46 players for games and if Walker, Curry, Lelie and JLH are healthy they will probably de-activate either Chaz or Watkins and go with 5 WR´s on gamedays.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Bob Marley,
Between Chaz of Watkins, who’s inactive do you think?
September 6th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Al X
If it was my choice I would give Schilens every chance. I´m not as high on Watkins as other people, in fact I don´t think much of him.
That being said, they should probably go with the guy who does better during practice each week, hopefully that´s Chaz.
September 6th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Bob Marley,
I agree. Let the rook get some experience. But I think Kiff likes to go with the guy who has more experience.
Isn’t his # 81. If only he could shine like the last player who wore that #.
September 6th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
That´s it for me…see you guys tomorrow, finally real games to talk about.

Not read any1s posts and i no loads of people will have said this bt screw Lombardi Richardson is twice the player moses is and gettina game at DE for the fins is not a big deal they suck even more now with Jason Taylor
September 6th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
We still talkin about Moses? Man, what has he done in this league to merit such attention? Richardson has done a lot more than him but no one’s writing about him.
****************************************
The AFC Playbook on NFLN toke an obviously simplistic and somewhat ignorant look at this game Dnky vs Rdrs. So did Jamie Dukes.
First off, Marshall is out and the Donkeys are running with Royal, Jackson and Stokley against Nnamdi, Hall and Routt. On paper, that just streams a mis-match in favor of the Raiders. So I’m not sure who Cutler is going exercise his new media “crowning” against. He may be in for a long day if they are trying to go through the air.
We have Walker, Curry, JLH (Lelie) going up against Baily, (an overrated) Bly (being challenged by Paymah) and Paymah himself. On paper it looks like Denver has a slight advantage there but Bly is a weaker link than people credit him. I’ll give Denver the advantage but its not nearly the advantage we have over them in their WRs vs our DBs.
On the ground. It is what it is. We ranked 6th last season, come into this season with more experience in the system, upgraded LT insofar as run blocking is concerned, added 2 better RBs (but lost OO). Denver ranked 9th, added Clady (who I’m not sure how good of a run blocker he is?), put in Selvin Young to replace that ugly dude and lost Torain who could have eventually replaced Young. In other words, they have not done enough to keep up with the Raiders in the rushing attack.
On run defense, they look to have gotten better after leaving the 3-4 and fire the DC. We look to have gotten better too. We’ll have to wait and see how much better.
Suffice to say, the Raiders should have a good advantage over Denver. Denver may very well end up being over-matched this game.
September 6th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
without Jason Taylor*
Its 2.30 in Scotland and im drunk u cant blame me

Thing is, Kiffin will likely move Walker around to face Bly instead of Bailey. I remember Denver doing the same thing to us when we had Washington at the other end.
Marshall nor Walker could get much done with Nnamdi so Shanahan moved one of them to Washington’s side where he got abused. Kiffin will likely do the same. You are only as good as your weakest link. And Bly is not THAT good as he’s hyped. Walker can handle him. And Lelie can definitely burn him deep w/ the double move.
September 6th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
We should go after cecil sapp. The donkeys FB they just released.

RAIDER FOOTBALL!
September 6th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I’m nervous, but I always am in opening games. This is the start of the season baby, let’s start out on top!
September 6th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Justin Hoff, isn’t he an undersized, quick type of FB?
I’ll pass, we have enough Doinks.
September 6th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Is there any news on chad jackson? I haven’t been able to read the previous posts yet.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
R.A.W.,
He worked out & left Oakland without a contract. Has also worked out for other teams. His agent says the Raiders may sign him later.
IMO the Raiders are going to wait & see how Lelie pans out.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
#75 WTF. This is a Raiders site. You’re looking for the 49ers.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Ok fellers,..heres my prediction, my final one in case Im too drunk and stoped and Norco`d out to post tomorrow…as you all know I will be at the game monday night, I am at every game…my belief, sadly, is that Denver wins it easily…the main reasons are the D line and O line both suck….and Russell isnt close to being NFL ready….I really wanted Culpepper for one more year…if Culpepper plays all year here its a 7-9 season,..with Russell its about 3-13…give or take…Im almsot never wrong, but if I am I will come in here tuesday and admit it,…but I see no chance at a win monday night, and no chance at a successful year,..oh, and Kiffin as head coach is another reason we have a poor chance at success,..hes a punk…..anyway, my final score prediction is Denver over Oakland, 38-13…keepin it real…but as I said, I will be there, and all year.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Wow Jim,
You’re putting a lot if faith in the receivers & team you are supposedly coachin for. Are you trying to undermine Kiffin. If you were anykind of a good coach (thenextraidercoach) you’d help out the Raider Nation. Not like your receivers have been exactly spotless in the preseason.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Who would you guys start at TE on your fantasy team?
Sheffler vs Oak
O. Daniels vs PIT
September 6th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
C’mon Corp,
This is a Raiders site. Of course we aren’t going to pick Scheffler vs Oak. Go with Daniels vs Pitt. Anyways, NFL network has Daniels ranked higher.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
I know, I know.. I was hoping for some objective commentary.. Thanks, though.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
LOL @ all this fodder…
We lose this game and start our long season…
Sorry, thats just the way it is….
September 6th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Do any of you guys watch Raiders games online using TVU or any other similar programs? If so, which one is considered the best?
September 6th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Bet on IT
September 6th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
My opinion wouldn’t count for squat in Fantasy League. NFL network has some pretty good stats though. If you go to the game center for each game, it gives you a Head to Head match up stats over 5 games as well as many other stats… ie match up @ Heinz field, Home & away.

September 6th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Heads up Raider fans. We have another dumba$$ donko fan posting to the last thread. Let’s hope the players are as slow as the fans!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
What’s up Raiders?
Looking forward to a tough old fashioned slug fest at the Black Hole?
Both teams are going to try to run and stop the run - scoring first will be big. Watch out for the rook - Royal from Cutler he’s good! Cutler is going to shock you how good he is, I am stoked to see your secondary they will be a good test for the passing game.
In the end though you guys get run over by the Broncos running game - and we will stop yours. Don’t let last years d stats fool you - that system was awful. Bates is gone and so is his system back to the way it was before him (check the 06 stats)
Broncos 31 Raiders 17
September 6th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
BTW Good luck with Lelie and Walker :roll
ha ha ha!
September 6th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Donko Rule,
We have a pretty good rook too. Look for him, Fargas & Bush to wear your a$$es out. Young by himself won’t be able to run us over. Cutler last 2 games against us, 1TD 4 INTS.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Young isn’t by himself though the Broncs have been a committee for a couple of years (I’m not stoked).
Cutler has picked up his game - he isn’t the same QB as last year and the oline is better.
Establishing the run will be crucial for both teams - if the Raiders can’t run against the front 7 it will be over. If the safety has to come up you might have a chance to throw but I am not really too scared of the pass to be honest.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
It seems an Agent Provacateur has slipped through our lines, probably disguised as a human being with a laptop, glad to see AL X shut him down
September 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
I guess our three headed monster scared the donkey fan off.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Maybe not.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
#95 obviously delusional,must be the Kool-Aid
September 6th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Donkey Rule,
You can’t possibly think your backfield scrubs after Young are better than our RBs.
What about when the donkeys are unable to run, Cutler will be playing right into our DEF backfield strength.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
whats up NATION?
Hey donkey dude your donkeys have nothing your D is garbage and c u n tler will be picked @ least twice!
RAIDERS 27 donkeys 9
September 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
408, the voice of reason.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
As bad as I know you guys want to hear from me, I have just one little tid bit before the game Monday.
Since 1996, every year we won our first game, we went to the playoffs. Every year we didn’t win our first game, we did not go to the playoffs. In fact, if you want to go back to 1990, we’ve only broken this trend twice, in ‘91 and ‘95.
So, if we win, it’s huge. I’ll be in here to give the die hards their props, as I promised I would months ago. But if we lose, you can’t act like it’s just a minor loss and things will mold into shape.
12 seasons straight and 16 of the last 18, our season opener was basically make or break. That pretty well topples over any perceived realm of coincidence.
From Al to the coaches to the players, the first regular season loss for some reason is just a back breaker in Alameda. Meanwhile, a season opening win seems to really give the Raiders a swagger.
…As if you guys needed another reason to be excited about Monday…glad I could help.
Enjoy the game.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
LOL, I meant to say “NOT” owned by Brien in my screenname, but instead is says “NOW owned by Brien”. Guess you own me afterall, brien. Anyhow, enjoy the game, everyone.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

You can’t possibly believe that the Broncos won’t be able to run? We’ll see I guess but I think we get at LEAST 150 on the ground.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
#101
I am stoked you think our D is garbage, hopefully the players think the same thing - nothing like overconfidence to make them slack off. :o)
September 6th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
AL X never been called that b4 but thanx!
Donkey dude go back to your donkey blog!
September 6th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
It’s free country I’ll post where I want.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
As you can see gentlemen #105 is exposed for what he is,a lowly donkey, trained by a rat, nothing of any significance to contribute,
September 6th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Believe it or not.
I believe the donkeys won’t be able to run on us(Nalen C, QB of o-line out). As far as 150 yards on the ground…NOT
September 6th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Donkey dude (nice smiley btw) STFU your d is garbage and you know it. Also I doubt you get a buck 50 on the ground based on the fact that we’re going to get 250yards rushing! TOP goes to RAIDER NATION your boy c u n tler will have to pass and when that happens.. OOOOOH shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiT look out for the best secondary in the NFL
September 6th, 2008 at 9:14 pm

How are you going to stop the run exactly? Your dline is a mess - the backers are a little better. If you have to bring up the safety then I pity whoever is covering Scheffler
September 6th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
al x yep donkeys are going down!
Donkey dude your rite it is a free country your more than welcom to stay but you will need thick skin to roll with the NATION!
September 6th, 2008 at 9:22 pm

408, I was royally s’t faced a few nights last week. Sorry if I said anything offensive. That goes to the rest of you, too. Drinking and “blogging”, big time. Rough week. I’m on the wagon now. Feeling good.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
All trash talking aside, neither team knows exactly what they have. The fact that the line on this game is 2.5 to 3 points shows that the experts are very confident either.
I think this will be a close game that will be decided in the final minutes.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
experts aren’t very confident.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I just scored 4 tickets to the game club level 50 yd line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure your a Donko fan?
You don’t know much if you are. The Broncos are just as bad if not WORSE against the run and we have actual running backs!
Your Teams running back by committee is down to TWO!
Rookie RB Torain is out with a broken elbow and Aldrige is out FOR THE YEAR with a foot injury.
The ZBS you run is know for propelling mid level backs to 1,000 yd seasons, but guess what? We run the ZBS too and OUR backs are very good.
Those LB’s you mentioned are the best coverage backers in the League and FS Michael Huff has made a name by stopping the best TE’s in game.
Schefler’s got good hands, its his feet you should be worried about.
That nagging foot injury is going to end his career sooner rather than later.
DT DeWayne Robertson from the Jets is a good DT but is on 2 bum knees. Desperate move by your tema to even take him. He’s relegated to one down and out.
Smashing the Broncos is going to be sweet so ignorant and loud mouthed fans like you can eat crow and piss off of our board.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
i won a contest last month on the radio! i get to give cutler his diadetes injection in his widdle peepee before the game….Oh BOY! i cant wait.

It usually does, but this year…
Broncos in trouble in 08′ after losing devastating Offensive weapon
Posted 07-06-2008 at 11:43 AM, Raider Nation Station
2007 NFL regular season
Week One
With no time outs QB Jay Cutler moves the Broncos into position to try a field goal.
With 8 seconds on the clock Jason Elam hurries the Bronco special teams unit onto the field and boots a game winning field goal, propelling Denver to a 15-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills as time runs out.
Week Two
After tying the game in regulation, Elam seizes the victory, kicking a 23 yarder in overtime, cementing the win over Oakland, 23-20.
Week Six
Elam sinks the Steelers with a game winning field goal from 49 yds out as time expires.
Broncos 31-28.
Week Sixteen
Elam’s 30 yarder in overtime this time steals a “W” from Minnesota, 22-19.
Last year, four games chalked in the Denver Broncos win column thanks to Jason Elam.
Elam was the difference between 7-9 and 3-13, quite literally.
He finished the year 27 of 31for an 87.1% average including a 50 yarder.
Thats nothing compared to the record tying 63 yarder earlier in his career, adding to over 20, 000 points he put up for the Broncos during his time there. He also set the record, scoring more points for a single team than any other man in NFL history.
At least 215 of them against Oakland.
The 3 time Pro Bowler was originally drafted by the Broncos with the 70th selection overall in the 3rd round of the 1993 NFL Draft. Though taken in the 3rd round, he currently has his cleats on display in the NFL Hall of Fame, but starting in 2008, the record setting clutch kicker will be doing his scoring for the Atlanta Falcons.
Some will remember in March, the troubled Falcons signed him away with a 4 year, $9 million dollar contract with a reported $3.3 million guaranteed.
It didn’t make much of a wave at the time, so how bad is the news for Denver?
It could be catastrophic. Elam literally held the Broncos from the edge of oblivion last year.
They may have improved their team enough to be more competitive than last year, but judging by their off season moves, it would be a surprise.
Elam is gone and odds are he will be missed.
Taking his place?
That will remain and unknown for now, but currently on the roster…
2nd year kicker out of Central Florida Matt Prater who has been dumped by Detroit, Miami, Atlanta(!) And Miami again before being “snagged” by the Broncs. His NFL experience consists of being 1 for 4 in 2 years with Atlanta.
Challenging him for the starting spot is rookie kicker Garrett Hartley from Oklahoma. Hartley, a free agent, has never kicked in an NFL game.
Last word had it the Broncos were drying out, I mean, “trying out” former Colt K Mike Vanderjagt, but were not impressed enough to sign.
Still early and anything can happen, but at this stage I’d say Elam’s departure bodes very well for the Silver and Black and could be an ominous portent of the decline to come in Denver.
NO ELAM!!!

post75,hello mrs,you can do better

Good points about the ZBS. I am not really happy with the backs we have right now, Torain could be the best of them but like you said he’s out with a dislocated elbow. You’ll see plenty of him in the rematch don’t worry.
If you read my post about the D you would see that the failed system of Bates is history - back to the one gap scheme that worked SO much better.
It would be nice to draft 4th overall and get a really nice DT - oh wait you have to really suck to draft that high - sorry forgot.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Great posts Nnamdi. That’s why you are the “awesome one”.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Donkey dude get real, first of all who is this camp fodder you call scheffler and second you ever heard of thomas howard, the best covering linebacker in football. Raiders brother!
September 6th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
How’s your FIRST round kicker doing? Oh not that accurate you say? Too bad. I’ll bet you wish you had drafted a real player with that pick. Not that it would make a difference - Gallery ring a bell?
I was surprised when you took McFadden with some really good DT’s on the board. That’s what you get when Al(zheimer) Davis is running the war room.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
me and cutler sitting in a tree so i can inject his widdle peepee
September 6th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
well that first round running back is gonna give you guys fits for the next decade, mule
September 6th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
sorry for talking smack on the old man but i got no BALLS to pick on someone younger and not in a wheelchair.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Monday Night will decide it all, I’m extremely confident about this game. In fact the only way I see the donkey’s winning is if we turn the ball over too many times.
The thing about that, I see us getting at least 3 t/o’s from the donkey’s. Our secondary is the best the league has to offer. I just can’t see Cutler navigating it successfully for 4 qrtrs.
Our defense will decide this one.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Bird leg backs don’t last 10 years - if he is going to give us fits he’ll get his chance right away. I can’t wait to see D.J. smack him down like a little girl!
BTW Elam is gone because his leg is gone the Broncos have carried an extra kicker to do KO because he couldn’t get it past the 30.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
#134
You like pretending to be me - I’m flattered. Must have touched a nerve there though - you know the real reason your team is in the crapper is because of AL DAVIS.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
He may have bird legs, but they go extremely fast. I would love to see DJ try and cover him 1 on 1. Watch the scoreboard change!
September 6th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
why is your team in the crapper….the rat
September 6th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
your team was no elam away from picking before us. another 7-9 season and the rat will be toast.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
#137
i give you that. if we could just keep a coach for stability would be nice.until he gives up on being a hard owner to work for i support him and my team.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
I can understand why you guys hate Shanahan - he beats you down over and over. I think he has a real grudge against Al, and why wouldn’t he? Al still owes him 250K. Al loves to fire good coaches - I LOVED it when Gruden won that SB!
Ha ha ha ha ha!
My guess is that if Kiffen tries to do things his way, he’ll get fired too. Probably go to the Chiefs and then start going 2-0 on the Raiders annually. Write it down.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
250k.thats it. cry me a river. its probably bogus or the union woulda done something about it.thats pocket change to even the poorest player.

September 6th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
ya if the donkeys go under 500 i bet you hate him too. just like elam. the most accurate kicker and you dog him cause he left. you sure loved him the last decade.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
gruden got luckey and won with dungys team and against his old club. any other team in there we woulda killed em.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I don’t think it’s about the money.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
#145
I’m not dogging Elam - he is/was a great kicker, I witnessed his 63 yarder. The hard fact is though that you can’t afford to waste a roster spot on a KO kicker.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
i bet elam can still kick a clutch kick and did alot just last year. a kicker dont go down hill that fast.i really think its going to haunt your team this year like alot of decisions have haunted the raiders.i would love it if seabas was that accurate. all leg no direction.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
It could haunt us for sure - the guy we have now is kind of like that all leg not so much accuracy. Although he did make a 68 yarder in camp.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
seabass makes them all day long from that distance and even beyond till the game starts….
September 6th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
BHP, you can’t say that Monday night will settle it all, then if we lose back peddle and downplay the game. As I posted earlier: Every single season since ‘96 our first game indicated rather or not we’d go to the playoffs. We won, we went. We lost, we tanked.
Going back to 1990, this trend has only bucked twice, in ‘91 and ‘95. That’s 18 seasons.
So, if we win, yes, HUGE. If we lose, though, I don’t want to hear any of this crap about how it doesn’t matter. 16 of the last 18 seasons not to mention the last 12 consecutively, our first game may as well have been a post season game. I don’t see that trend ever stopping as long as Al is in charge. The way he runs his system, the first game just somehow winds up being for the whole enchilada. Everything after seems to mirror that first game.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Mosses was cut by the Raiders and the Cardinals. There might even be a third team that cut him if I am not mistaken.
As for Lombardi, the guy cannot even get another job in football. Hell Denver showed him the door and he was working for nothing for them.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Two days till the “team of the decades” or is it “team of the decayed” assumes the position as the doormat they are. What is your record in the last 25 AFC West games?
Reading this blog it is clear to see that not only the team but the fans have made the “Commitment to Excrement”.
See you all on Tuesday like I promised.
Broncos 21 Raiders 10
In all seriousness, here is the single key to the game. If we stop your run game we win big. If you can run it up the middle we lose.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Sorry to disappoint you “156″ surely you can get what you are after there in the bay area. However as you are “Bloggin ‘ From My Toilet” you are in just the right place to discuss Raider football.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Very true, Milehigh: IF you stop our run game your chance of winning is high. Good luck with that. We will be strong on the ground. Tennessee didn’t even come close to closing the door on our run game, and they have a front 7 built to do just that. Now… given that you will not stop our run game, can you beat our pass defense? Burgess is healthy now, and he flies. Our starting corners are dinged up a bit, and I’m confident that they will still hold their own. You will have to beat us in the middle of the field.
I don’t think the Broncos will even come close to gaining 150 on the ground.
Raider on,
Guamanian Raider
September 6th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
167 that is the first possible intelligent thing you have said. That may very well be true. We have not been the same since Kubes left.
All I can say is that I hope Walker and Ash Lilly continue to underachieve. They are both VERY talented and Ash Lilly can fly. 4.2 40. Your QB will have to throw on target however. We will see.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Hey toilet Blogger,
The commodes on the island, if you believe the Discovery channel, have brown tree snakes swimming up through the sewers to bite users in the asp. With the amount of chili peppers eaten on Guam it’s surprising that there are not many bidets installed too.
Speaking of flush, I cannot wait to see MS all flushed when his team goes in the crapper. In the end, the Broncos will be wiped out. Don’t pay attention to their smear tactics. The bronco stench will be piled a mile high.
Raider on,
Guamanian Raider

I just read that Denmark shows more NFL than any other country in the world except for the U.S.
September 7th, 2008 at 2:40 am
the mere fact that all these Donkey fans are participating on our blog demonstrates one of two things:
1) They are losers with too much time on their hands
2) They are scared that the Raiders are going to whack their Donkeys and they are acting out.

Walker is a drama queen and its time for the new #84 to prove he’s worthy of that contract. Lelie should have motivation against his former team. I hope Denver stacks the line and we burn them deep on play action. If we can run the ball its going to be a long day for the Donkeys, let the tailgate begin!!!

Post #29- Good job…it’s always good to see growth and maturity- both individually, and..perish the thought..as through the combiened efforts of a group of individuals- or team…

Gawd, you fader fanz are as dumb as you look. Cutler played bad against you last year bercause of diabetes that was out of control. Read the national columnists not your local rag owned by syph face al. The consensus around the nation is that Cutler is the best young rookie QB to come into the league in years. You can all pretend that you’re team is better with Ms. Lelie and Ms. Javonna but you guys still don’t have enough Bronco castoffs to win more than 5 games this year. And none of those will be against Shanny. fader nashun still has at least two more decades of being pond scum so learn to live with it. Oh I fgorgot you already are living with it!

Brady just got hurt ala Gannon after SB loss?? Here comes a MAJOR 5 year tailspin for the Patriots. See Ya!!!

Raiders stink
September 7th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Tatse the Rainbow big boys!!! I love football. We will lose to the Broncos. How embarassing… The Broncos are much more talented than we are. Shanahan will out coach Kiffin. It’s no contest. I’d love to smack Walker on the tail with a wet towel and watch him jump!
September 7th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
I doubt if Ms. Ashley or Ms. Javonna will contribute to help the fader losing ways stop. Heck, fader nashun doesn’t have enough Bronco castoffs to be competative. When was the last time you losers won more than 5 games in a season? Oh, yeah the year the TB Buccaneers bitch slapped you in the SB. Their ain’t no way you guys will be anything but bottom dwellers as long syph face is calling all the shots. If you think there’s a chance to see .500 again you’re as dumb as you look in those hideous holloweeny costumes you loooooser wear to the games. The only reason that Cutler played so poorly against you last year was because ofdiabetes that wasn’t being treated. Check all the national sports columnist. They all choose Cutler as the real deal and the drafts steal at the 11th pick. Your QB is an over priced player picked way too early in ther draft, who’s me attitude had him sit out most his rookie gam. Now he is so far behind the 2nd year QB learning curve that will ensure you do’nt win more than five games (again).

Which is more recent than Denver has been to a SB

lane kiffin has been the only coach to publicly disagree against the almighty al davis. give him a breeak let him coach!
September 7th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Your fader dildos got punked in a SB a few years ago prior to that you sucked for how many years? Since then you’ve won how many games? I’d rather have my team win back to back SB’s 10 years ago and only 2 losing seasons since, than be a dilusional fan of a team that has been a bottom dweller (not just in the AFC West, but in the whole NFL) since being bitched slapped in the SB. Your owner is suffering from dimentia and croaking from syphilus of the face. You’re not going anywhere until he finally does croak. The only reason your stinky stadium is sold-out this Monday is because you looooozers want to see what a real team looks like and Bowlen was kind enough to pay the light bills after greazy al went bankrupt signing more loooozers to play on his looooozer team. When you guys ever reach .500 or should I say if you ever hit .500 again then you can gloat a little. Till then do what you always do and listen to your faders on the radio because after this weekend all the home games will be blacked out as usual.

September 7th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I am in a Fantasy Football Team and have both Javon Walker and Darrell Jackson (Denver) on my team but can only play one.
Which one will be more productive tomorrow night?
September 7th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
I would say Jackson due to Walker’s ailment, However, Jackson drops so many balls that it makes it a push.
Flip a coin bro’

Raiders ran over the broncos 34-20 enough said !!!
September 7th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
“Hopefully they don’t get too much better or we’ll really be in trouble,” Shanahan said. “They’re very well coordinated, they’re very well coached, they play extremely hard together. You can see that the system has been very successful.”
Bronco’s are scard LOL

pimp c the looooozer faders won a game when Cutler was losing weight and strength because he didn’t know he had diabetes. That’s in the past and he’s already better than any QB you loooozers ever had. You’re the ones running scared. fader nashun is so scared of the other teams in the AFC West that they don’t EVEN wanna leave the friendly confides of their celler. BTW syph face al is the only one stupid enough to keep firing coaches who know more about modern football than he does.
September 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Cutler IS junk &&& the whole diabetes things is just a excuse he just sucks !!! I hope he runs Wilson will break his legs !!!
Your defense is washed up member last year when the rookie james jones from the Packers ran right by Champ For a TD LOL …
Keep Dreaming we are gonna set the tone in the AFC west Brcono’s will be shocked !!!
