Kiffin speaks after all
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 at 3:13 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The agent for Lane Kiffin canceled a scheduled press conference with Bay Area media, but the deposed Raiders coach did speak with Sirius Satellite Radio. Kiffin is friends with host Pat Kirwan, a host who has ties with USC football and also does work for NFL.com
Describing the day
Kiffin: It was a difficult day, starting with the night before, watching Monday Night Football and finding out that coaches are being interviewed, I guess, while you’re still the head coach and then coming in in the morning and going to work and receiving a phone call saying that you’ve been let go. And you go through the emotions of a bunch of relationships that have been developed there. It was tough. I went through the building and said thanks and goodbye to everybody in the building. Went down to the weight room and some of the players were around because it was their day off. It was pretty emotional to see those guys but I’m real proud of them. They’re going to win a bunch of games. We’re very close to getting it turned. We’re doing a bunch of good things and I know that they’re going to continue to go in that direction. And I was very thankful for the opportunity.”
Talking with players
Kiffin: I was able to talk to JaMarcus (Russell) over the phone later yesterday. To see a guy like Justin Fargas, that one really got me, to see him and what he’s battled through and all the injuries. He kind of came out of nowhere last year after four years of really doing nothing and having a 1000 yard season. He’s going to have a great season now that he’s getting healthy during this bye. It was tough.
On watching Al Davis’ press conference
Kiffin: To come home and see Al’s press conference and for him to go up there and say all the things that he said was very hard for me and my family. But like I said yesterday, I’m very appreciative of the opportunity and I’m not going to stoop to his level and start firing back. As crazy as it sounds, I felt bad for Al. I was embarrassed watching him up there. It was sad to see. But you have a real bad feeling in your stomach when things are being said like that about you, especially a number of false things being said. So it was very tough but a lot of support from people around the country came immediately after that. I think you guys figured it out pretty well by watching it and I don’t really need to comment on it.
On what he’s most proud of from his time in Oakland
Kiffin: We are a way better team than when we got there a year and a half ago. It’s not even close. Way more competitive. We set high standards for ourselves and we expected to win a lot more games than we did but we were playing really good ball. We just couldn’t finish those last two games. We couldn’t finish the fourth quarter otherwise we’re on a three-game winning streak. San Diego is a really good team. I wish for the players there we could have pulled that one off because they deserved to win with how hard they played. They hadn’t beat them in five years so it would have been a really neat deal.
Future plans
Kiffin: Well, my wife is making me do chores around the house right now. That’s a little bit new to me. This is a little bit different than the staff meetings. You guys think it was bad getting ordered around by Al Davis, you should see my wife today.”
The possibility of coaching in college
Kiffin: I think the college route definitely could be a route we may end up going here. We’ll see what comes available. Unfortunately, being fired, there’s a lot of emotion that goes into it and we’re not pleased by any means but it’s made me a lot better and it’s prepared me a lot better for the next job. It will make getting a college job easier from the standpoint of being able to interview and not continuing, in November and December, continuing to have to play games and coach at the Raiders.
On Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell
Kiffin: He has a great future and I had a great talk with him last night. He’s going to do great things as they continue to develop their receiver group around him. There’s been a lot of shakeup in that group from injuries and different people coming in and out. He’s going to continue to improve and have a great future.
On Raiders OL Robert Gallery
Kiffin: So much better. We’ve kept him at one position the whole time and haven’t been moving him around. He’s playing a lot lower than he ever has. He was playing high when we got there. Robert really has made a name for himself by the way he’s played the last year and a half.
Hearing from other former Raiders coaches since being fired
Kiffin: Yeah, I’ve heard from a number of them but I’m not going to get into the specifics. They definitely don’t want me to repeat the conversation that they had so I won’t get into that. But a lot of support.

Thanks!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Phuck Shame Kiffin. I’m glad your spolied elitist ass is out
October 1st, 2008 at 3:18 pm
He’s taking action, big time. That’s why he’s staying mum. It’s a perfect strategy. Al goes on a tear, exposing himself to be a slanderous harasser. Kiffin is playing the role of loyal employee axed for no good reason. He’s handling this perfect. Go Lane. I’m a Raider fan but Al deserves everything that’s about to come his way, and it aint gonna be pretty.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Who cares?
Just Win Baby.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:19 pm
MoRon want answer the tough question on Easter 08. Kind os like an x coach we all know. lol
October 1st, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Wow.
ESPN has a really good piece on the Raiders going right now, complete with clips and a soundtrack. Good stuff. You guys have to flip over.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Brien - I’m not denying anything but can you reference back to what I said so my memory can be refreshed?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:20 pm
I have arrived
October 1st, 2008 at 3:21 pm
I was embarrassed for Al as well, what a poor old man acting like a little kid.
Has Tom Cable been fired yet?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Stupid, Your idol has been venting for over a year now on record! I see why you were banned for SERIAL TROLLING.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Einstien, you’re like f’n bug now.
What is your question about Easter ‘08? I’m sorry, I don’t read every single comment here. Repeat it. The comment box still works. Just post the stupid f’n thing again and stop your bitching. I promise I’ll answer it.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
“spoiled elitist” Come on Brien, the guy attended Fresno State, not exactly Ivy League.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Can we now just play some football?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Was I banned for “serial trolling”? I don’t recall that. Do you know what banned means? It means I would be no longer allowed to post here. What are you reading right now? A post, from me. Which means I obviously wasn’t banned. Was that your question? Einstein, go take a nap. You’ve been reduced to a f’n pest this afternoon.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Huff in a recent blog you talked some shhhhhhit on me. I dont mind shhhit talking at all it is fun. But to do it when I’m not around and then remain hush when I’m in here is some punk shhhhhit
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
I bleed Silver and Black blood. Got to run, nation.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Whatever. It’s over. What’s Cable got the guys doing?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
MR -I have a question for you.
What record do you predict Cable will finish with this year?
Just Win Baby.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Fresno State because it is actually a good football program……Many rich kids go to cal states BBB. Kiffin got his ass beat in Fresno as well for having the spoiled punk attitude. It makes sense when you hear how people at SC said he talked down to others and Al said the same stuff yesterday. Doesn’t surprise me
October 1st, 2008 at 3:27 pm
WOW — What a GREAT INTERVIEW!
Not.
Any tough questions? Not a one. Kiffin goes passive agressive saying he’s not going to stoop to Al Davis’ level, then implying that Al is losing it, senile or some such — why else feel sorry for Al Davis, or be embarrassed for him?
Kiwran is such a shil he never asked the obvious followup: Give me a specific example, if you would, of something Al Davis said about you yesterday that is untrue.
Trey Wingo asked that question yesterday on ESPN, and Kiffin dodged it most unartfully.
Shows, once again the difference between anything else and NFL-Controlled-TV.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:28 pm
FUK BRIAN…….LOL….All in good fun right friend!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Oakglenn, what do you call a SERIAL TROLLER that gets banned and re-appears with a new TROLL NAME, and tries to mask his IP? I’ll tell you. A liberal peckawood! lol
October 1st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I hope Kiffin does that interview with Shefter that he couldn’t do because of “cause” from the tyrant
October 1st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I wonder if, Kiffen has hired Gloria Alred yet?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Davis said other teams didn’t want Moss before the Patriots obtained him.
“You know how many teams turned him down?” Davis said. “That guy in Green Bay thought he couldn’t run any more. Even Denver, where they’ll take anybody, turned him down.”
________________________________________________
Ummmmm Al….WE are the team that will “take anybody”, or did you forget about that?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Fire Kiffin:
My prediction is that we finish at 3-13 this year. And if Cable keeps his trap shut, you guys will give him the benefit of the doubt that he’s digging the team out of a trench and that therefore it will take him a couple of years to pull things together, instead of quickly throwing him under the bus and scapegoating him like you did Kiffin.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:31 pm
haters. muhahahaha
October 1st, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Einstein, take a nap. You are clearly tired.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Brien - Haha. I’m not denying I said anything and Its not like I said anything behind your back. This is a blog. I have no idea who’s reading at the time. I’m not hiding, I just don’t remember what I said. I say alot of things so again…You’re going to have to tell me what I said because I don’t think about you when I stop blogging.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Lane is a wimp. The reason he isn’t saying anything is BECAUSE HE DOESN”T HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY.
WATCH the NFL will tell him he won’t get paid, and HE will CLAIM to take the HIGH ROAD.
I WISH ALL YOU LANE KIFFIN SUPPORTERS WILL FOLLOW HIM OUT OF THE RAIDER NATION.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
And, “Fire Kiffin”, isn’t it about time you changed your name? Now who’s obsessed with Kiffin?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
MR ARE YOU LANE KIFFIN?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:34 pm
MR ARE YOU LANE KIFFIN? BECAUSE YOUR PUS$Y STINKS THE SAME>
October 1st, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Just know Huff that the times I’ve been in here you never speak negatively on me and I was completely shocked that you would resort to it behind my back because you usually have good posts
October 1st, 2008 at 3:35 pm
I’m sure Rob Ryan will continue his trend of letting teams score on him at the end of games, especially with Al Davis dogging him for the Head Coaching job once again. All this work Ryan does, only to get dissed for the big job. I bet Ryan feels betrayed too as he probably thought he helped get rid of Kiffin and he still didn’t get rewarded.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:35 pm

October 1st, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Brien, DUDE WHY DO YOU CARE what HUFF24 has to say. HE is repping probably the WORST defensive player on our team.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Kiffin looked like he was about to cry in his interview on ESPN yesterday.
I watched it about ten times yesterday with some fellow Raider fans. He had us rolling on the floor.
He jusy kept repeating over and over again.
“It was very painful.”
Just like watching his offense in the red zone.
Just Win Baby.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
MR - you are ridiculous. Kiff is staying mum b/c he can say nothing! Do you really think Al would lie in written word and on videotape so that it could be used against him? If anything, he left out a bunch of stuff, but he would not lie to the press. He’s too conniving for that.
Do you think Al lied about speaking to Kiff in front of specific people after the Buff game?
If Al was slanderous, he will be facing charges in court. That will not happen because he said nothing slanderous. Fact is, Kiff is a liar. “loyal employee”, what a joke. Add yourself to the list of “conned” persons.
Gruden had it right, taking the high road and saying nothing after leaving us high and dry post Tuck game.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Oakglenn, you said that Lane is retreating. Do you still stand by that? Retreating from what? As far as we know, he’s going to the league, which is likely a first step before suing, if the league doesn’t take action. Where did you get the story Kiffin was just letting it all go? That’s what you said earlier.
You also said that Al debunked my points. How so? He presented no evidence of anything. Just ran his mouth like the idiot he is. Only a polygraph could have make Al’s statements mean something.
And, no, I’m not Lane Kiffin. There are a lot of fans on Kiffin’s side. Probably more than half. Have fun assuming every one of them are Lane Kiffin, you paranoid nut job.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
CHAOS MR WHATEVER YOU CALL YOURSELF. YOU ARE THE BIGGEST POSER OF THEM ALL. WHERE IS YOUR WEBSITE BYTCH?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Oakglenn, what is up?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Brien - Again…Without being able to tell me what I said…I can’t back up what I said. If you don’t remember and I don’t remember, I don’t know what to tell you.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:38 pm
If Cable finishes with anything like a .500 record (whether the overall record, or since he took over) he should be retained — especially if the team is clicking at the end of the year.
Cable will be a better game-day coach than Kiffin ever was.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Dan….Get real….He contradicted himself on a number of points, one of them was ” I didn’t want to win in the media, I want to win on the field…..then why hold this stupid press conference that made you look more stupid then a pile of shyt”
October 1st, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Chris Mortenson: Lane what did you think of the Al’s press confernece?
Lane: It was very painful.
Mortenson: How? Can you explain?
Lane: Well, it was painful, because Al made be bend over and grab my ankles, and the whole Raider organization gave it to me very hard without lube.
Mortenson: I am sorry to hear that Lane. How did it feel?
Lane: It was very painful.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:39 pm
In your ass bytch! I told you that yesterday….
October 1st, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Dude,
What a bunch of softballs Kirwan threw today. What’s so hard to ask Kiffin if he ever got the letter. Who cares about hte content. Did he get a letter or not? Jeez.
Kiff agreed to get on the radio only if they treat him like Sarah Palin and the McCain campaign.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:40 pm
CHAOS YOU ARE THE BIGGEST POSER I HAVE EVER MET…
October 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Kiffin, voice had more cracks in it than the San Andreas fault. lol
October 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Belicheet denied Al Davis’ tampering charge regarding Randy Moss.
Hmmmm, I think they are both lying!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Oakglenn - Huff is the worst player on our team? Give me a break. Wasn’t Huff drafted by Al Davis, your idol? How dare you. Without Huff, we would have been tortured by TE’s the last couple of years.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pm
If there’s anything Ive learned the past few days, its that I would not wanna be in a fox hole during live combat with some you guys who within the blink of an eye turned on Kiffin as if he’s responsible for almost 20yrs of chaos thats been going on with the Raiders. Al went on a smear campaign and made himself out to be the victim by spoon feeding bullsh*t to the public and some of you guys swallowed it up. Al said he really doesnt need a coach for more than 4-5yrs and Kiffin said “when you take this job working for Al Davis you know there is no job security”. Its hard to lable Kiffin a liar when just about everything he’s said has become a visible reality. Al said he hires coaches to win games, but if I can remember, we had a coach who not only won games but turned the Raiders into a superbowl team and what did Al do? Traded him to the Bucs. still trying to figure out how you trade a coach. Somewhere Tim Brown has gota be shaking his head in disgust, and somewhere Marcus Allen is saying to himself, “thats why I retired a Chief instead of a Raider”. SAD folks really SAD.
IM IN,,,(No Longer)

October 1st, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Kirwan: Good morning Lane, before we begin, I would like to ask you how your a$$ feels?
Kiffin: Its very painful
Kirwan: Did you ever receive the letter?
Kiffin: Yes, and it was very painful.
Kirwan: How did you take the news about being fired?
Kiffin: It was very painful
Kirwan: Do you have any piercings?
Kiffin: Yes, several all over my body, and they were very painful.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:43 pm
MR, We only finish 3-13 if McFadden and Fargas are out most of the season. 7-9 is a reasonable and attainable goal. Forget about Kiffin already; he wanted out, and it’s over. That’s the business end of the matter. The fans need to support the actual GAMES. IN CABLE WE TRUST!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Fluffy, I believe what you have promised on numerous occasions was -
“If Kiffin is out, I’m out.”
Bye.
Just Win Baby.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Dan, you’re in your own world.
If Lane sues for slander, and he probably will, Al Davis will have to back up EVERY CLAIM HE MADE YESTERDAY, with proof (and his henchman Herrera’s testimony isn’t going to cut it), to absolve his claims of being slanderous.
Yes, I do think Al Davis is stupid enough to do something that he can be sued for. He’s a power monger, and power mongers do that. They dare you to do something. He knows the league doesn’t want to mess with him and that Kiffin will get drained in legal fees. But Kiffin is going to the league anyway, with the newly found coaches’ union. Hard to say what kind of pull they have, but we’ll find out. If no action is taken by the league, and Lane and his family decide to shell out whatever it takes for a lawsuit, Al’s f’d.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Chaos -
I don’t know where he contradicted himself. He held off as long as he could on going public, only to speak up when Kiff kept up the sly attacks on the team. I think he came across as a guy who was po’d that the coach he hired was such a whining liar. He took blame for the hiring of Kiff, and appropriately for the last several years of losing.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:44 pm
7-9, Raider J?
Do you watch the news?
A franchise in complete disarray doesn’t go 7-9. Put away the pipe.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:44 pm
FIRE KIFFIN - Go blow a goat.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Oakglenn, now RED-NECK is denying he was banned for trolling on Easter 08. He probably Googled how can I mask my IP address. lol that monkey cracks us all up, Oakglenn.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Plunkett’s on Espn. He’s obviously doing pr for the team.
“Just 6 years ago they were in a Super Bowl…things go up and down”.
I like Plunkett but either he’s shilling for Al, or he’s as clueless as you guys. I’m sure it’s the former.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:45 pm
I will sukk dikk for money tho. Lane I would sukk for free.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:45 pm

Kiffins Attorney: Lane I am canceling your new conference tomorrow.
Lane: Why, Johnny Cochran?
Kiff Attorney: Didn’t you just see that on T.V.? You were just rammed without lube, doesn’t it hurt now?
Lane: It was very painful. I am emberassed.
Kiff Attorney: Do you want me to call a Dr.?
Lane: No, its ok, I should be able to walk in a few days.

And he’s a hypocrite. Here he is posting as me, and then complaining when others post as him. What a dik sukking loser. Looks like MR has now hit a new low.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I wish Kiffin all the best. He was really moving things in the right direction. Getting the offense better, having the team play hard despite injuries and managing a defensive coaching staff not of his choosing.
Fortunately, Tom Cable was named coach instead of Rob Ryan. Rob is now on the clock. He can’t blame Lane Kiffin or anyone….the defensive side of the ball is ENTIRELY HIS DOMAIN., Cable will play good soldier.
Come on Ryan. This is your contract year. If you can’t get this defensive talent to come to the plate swinging week in and week out, you will be back to your old position coach duties..
Get that pass defense up
October 1st, 2008 at 3:48 pm
MR - You are right. From this point on my new name will be - LONG LIVE AL.
By the way, Cable will finish 8 - 4.

Mr. post 60…
It goes to show how much you dont know about the raiders and Al. Al works in the litigious world. Have you not heard enough people say that. Even Silver was on KNBR this morning saying that Al sues for a living.
With all of Al’s claims, when have you ever heard Al got sued for Slandering…It has always been Al suing people…you dumba$$

Kiffin: Mr. Goodell, I would like to speak with you regarding the current situation.
Goodell: Lane, I am not a Dr. you need to call a Dr. to have your a$$ looked at. Im sure it hurts, it looked like it hurts, but I can’t do anything to help you.
Kiffin: Please Mr. Goodell, I have a solid case against the Tyrant Al Davis.
Goodell: A solid case? I need to stay as far away from you as I can, our I will be ousted as the commissioner.
Kiffin: Why?
Goodell: Because you are kind of a wimp, and you don’t represent the NFL with pride and class.
Kiffin: But my a$$ hurts, and Al won’t pay me.
Goodell: Good for him, I wouldn’t pay you either. Matter of fact, you owe the Raider organization for tarnishing their reputation. Go coach intramurals sweetheart.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Oakglenn, Johnny Cochran is dead. Kiffin’s not as rich as Al but his family has money. He’s going to the league first. If Goodell decides to not take action, the lawsuit will come next and Al Davis will then have the burden of proving every thing he said about Kiffin yesterday. I hope he has more than just his poodle Herrera’s testimony. Herrera’s tirade will be admitted as evidence of his character, and that he’s obviously insane.
Because Al will have no way of backing up his slanderous claims, he’ll likely try and settle. But after humiliating Kiffin like that on national t.v., will Kiffin accept a settlement? Hard to say. Like I said, we’ll see.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Mr. Davis at his age and in his physical and mental condition, seems to be consumed with fear and paranoia. I agree with Lane, it is hard to see.

Lane Kiffin is like Tommy from the “Martin” tv show………”you aint got no job!”
October 1st, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Raider J, what does Tom Cable wanting the Raiders to win have to do with the Raiders’ ability to win? We don’t have a team. Now, we don’t have a good coach, either. Cable will get Art Shell results out of this squad, and little more. Believe me, I’ll be here to take the heat if I’m wrong. But I’m standing by my prediction. 3-13. And, you can bet that if I’m right, you’ll hear about it.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:55 pm
In Lane you trust? He is gone like you will be if you dont shut up, just like that(snap).
October 1st, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Brien,
Let me correct you on two things;
First, I said Ryan is the Head Coach of the Defense….those are his own words.
Second, the whole Art Shell drafted Huff over that USC loser was total BS according to sources close to Art Shell. Imagine that, Al Davis lying at a press conference announcing a new HC? He lied his ass off when he hired Kiffin and said Art was the one who drafted Huff and now he is lying his ass off once again.
Are you people, deaf, dumb and blind?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
YOU THINK LANE HAS A SINGLE CHANCE AGAINST AL DAVIS IN A COURTROOM MR. YOU ARE A COMPLETE IDIOT. AL DAVIS BEAT THE NFL ONCE BEFORE. AND YOU DONT THINK HE CAN BEAT LANE KIFFIN.
YOU ARE A JACK HOLE IF YOU THINK FOR ONE MINUTE LANE EVEN WANTS TO COME CLOSE TO A COURT ROOM AGAINST AL DAVIS.
AL IS A PROFESSIONAL LITIGATOR.
AND YOU MR, ARE A PROFESSIONAL LOSER.
HAHAHAHAH, HOW YOU LIKE THEM APPLES?

Was Al responsible for keeping the two timeouts in Buffalo or throwing only 3 passes in the second half? How bout the horrible clock management before the half on Sunday? 76 yard field goal??? Are you kidding me? Bringing in McClown and Mike Williams last year. Yeah that worked out great. The absolute atrocious playing both last year and first four games of this year. I suppose Al controlled all of that? Kiffin was an ungrateful, snot nose brat who thought he was the next Jon Gruden. Dude didn’t know what the hell he was doing and was afraid to admit it. Not saying Al is doing great things, but this I gotta give it to Al. Fu*k Kiffin. At the very least Cable looks, acts and talks like a head coach and isn’t gonna take any sh*t from spoiled players. I still believe we can win at least 7 or 8 games this year if they can get healthy and stay that way.

Oakglenn, the NFL has beat Al Davis as well. Didn’t Al try to sue for the rights to Los Angeles? Lost. Didn’t he try to sue both Tampa Bay and the NFL over the similar logo? Lost.
Lane has a case. If he sues, Al has to prove everything he said yesterday, otherwise it is indeed slander. I asked you to prove some of it, and you have nothing. You’ve been ducking the question ever since.
Al’s thinking Kiffin will back out due to legal fees. That’s why he slandered him freely yesterday. It was a calling card. We’ll see what Kiffin does. So far, he’s going to the league, despite you claiming earlier he wasn’t doing anything.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:03 pm
VERY polished!
Play the family card. Throw in a cute one liner!
Theres some serious damage control going on here.
Its lovely that he won’t lower himself and answer to the allegations.
MOST of them look legit according to what Lane said himself in the press. I don’t see a huge spin on it by Al.
Up yours Lane on your way.

MR, I am talking 6-6 the rest of the way. We have the best running game in the NFL, Jamarcus is improving week to week, and our defense is getting better. Kwame Harris and our receivers scare me, but that’s it. And FYI, Art Shell went 7-5 after replacing Shanahan.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Oakglenn,
Kiffin did a good job and one of his picks, Tom Cable, was selected as his replacement. We have a team that is competitive for the first time in 5 years. The team has lost 7 games with leads into the 4th QTR, whereas before, the season was not even watchable or debatable before. Try as you might to deny this, most independent observers say the Raiders are competitive and many think this team could have been 3-1 (through the toughest part of our schedule mind you).
Let’s get behind Cable and hope that your boy Ryan can get the defense to dominate.
Also, lets hope the Managing General Partner does something to correct our receiver situation

Al Davis is a joke anyone still thinking this team will turn around with him running it is a joke and a dumb ass raider fan the ones that get drunk and cause problems at the coliseum you follow that category, i’m tired of these so called fans all on al’s nuts like he his god, he is the one and only reason we have been terrible since the super bowl, why would every player and every person that has left say the same thing no matter what or if they left with good terms they all have the same thing to say, this organization is horrible, i will still support the players of this team cause it’s not there fault and i would like to see some good raider football which kiffin was getting us close too, but oh well i really don’t want to spend another dime that will go into al’s pocket, to the raider players please don’t give up, play your hearts out and you will win, screw your owner.

Starts off posting as “Lame Sniffen”. to stir up s’t.
Then he’s been stalking me all day with these stupid questions about me being banned. (maybe he doesn’t realize that if I were banned, I wouldn’t be posting here now?)
Now, he’s posting as both me and Oakglenn, with the same intention he had this morning of stirring up s’t under his “Sniffen” moniker.
Einstein, you’re officially the ass of the day in here. Congrats. You snagged the title from Oakglenn at the last second.
I’ll be back tonight. Oakglenn, hopefully you’ll have something to back up your claim that Al Davis somehow debunked my points yesterday. You already retracted on Kiffin “retreating” from taking action, and good for you. So maybe you’ll retract on your bizarre claim that Davis debunked me, too. Hey, kid, you get fired up and say dumb things. We all do it. It’s been a rough few weeks for you, Oakglenn. You’re one of the most serious Raider fans I know and you really thought this team was good. You have to be devastated at this train wreck. So I understand it. But you’ve got to stop pulling things out of your a*s and get real.

Again, I just want the Raiders to win football games.
Question: Why does Al insist on selecting coaches he can’t work with?
How does having 10 coaching changes in 19 years help win football games?
Just seems complex. Perhaps he needs to bring someone in to help him pick a coach that meets his own specifications. Maybe an executive search firm or something

Now some of you are bagging on a good coach like Cable??
Look what he has done to with the patchwork O line that he has had to work with here and when he was in Atlanta?
Cable will rally the team….
October 1st, 2008 at 4:28 pm
What college team is going to seriously go after Kiffin especially after the way he managed 3 of the last 4 games? I thought Art Shell’s clock management was bad, but jeez….
…and then that whole lack of 2 minute drill that led to the 76 yard field goal? puhleeze. No good Athletic Director in college is going to be pleased with that. My guess is Lane gets an offer to be a quarterbacks coach somewhere, no better.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:28 pm

October 1st, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I’m in total agreement with MR #3. Kiffin will be doing all his talking in depositions. I doubt this ever gets to a public trial. Al Davis can’t afford that type of exposure.
Kiffin will be getting paid a lot more than the salary he is owed. It will be paid and there will be a non-disclosure agreement in effect which by definition says AD eats the big one.
Al was ill-advised to go on public display and make unsupported slanderous accusations. Al may have worked up over the press conference and was obviously playing to the 81% of the crowd than was on Kiffin’s side. His approach was not smart. He should have just taken the high road and moved on. Kiffin instead will take the high ground and ultimately end up the victor money-wise.

MR - Al called Kiffin a liar. Do you think he lied when he said he hadn’t spoken to Al since b/f Denver game? No slander.
Larger point is, you are not really a fan of the Raiders (since Al largely created and 100% controls the team and you are so negative on him).
So why spend time on a Raider blog, just to annoy Raiders fans? That’s weak.

October 1st, 2008 at 6:48 pm
What a rediculous bunch of comments. If you cant read that and see it is genuine… then you are either ignorant or just stupid and playing games. Sure Lane wasnt exactly the most mature out there, but on the same hand he put his hear and soul into this. He knew it was a fooked situation when he came on board and anyone at that age would think they could change it around. Lane didnt clam because if he came out and truely spoke his mind, Al’s team of lawyers would be ready for that payday like in Shannahan’s case, and LA’s case, and Azuza’s case and the NFL…. Al knows how to work the system.
History repeats itself, he could give a damn about the money because he knew he would be fired and Al would rather waste the money of Javon Walker doing nothing than Lane out the door…. we saw this before, its the same thing again.
I feel bad for Lane, I wish him nothing but the best for him and his family.
Seriously, if you think Al Davis spoke 100% truth on the letter then you drink the kool-aid that from Al’s colostomy bag.
You dont think that between 5 head coaches in as many years and the last MVP in Rich Gannon that we have issues that go way past what is on the field, then seriously… take of the blinders and wake the F* UP nation!!

He’s moving - and gonna get paid, you should get a life and push away from your damn computers once in awhile and go outside and see the light of day. The PLAYERS said that HE turned this thing around and that HE took all of the heat/BS from the PATHETIC owner and kept it out of the locker room. Keep drinkin’ the Silver & Black kool-aid and call me Al Davis has croaked!
October 1st, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Good luck Kiffin!!!Al is SAD!!!!!!!!!!!
October 1st, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Glad the little cry-baby, weasel Kiffin is gone. He knew what he was getting into when he came in. This is Al’s team, he is the one that made it what it is today, good and bad. Working for Al is not a lot different than working for most other franchises where the owner has football acumen. Everyone has to answer to some one, no way Al was going to let some snot, nose kid from the college ranks have full autonomy with the Raider organization. The Key is with Al is that you have sell him your ideas, you can bull$h!t him or demand your ways because he wrote the book. Kiffin was an infant at the NFL level and it turns out he was not smart enough to sell his ideas. Its too bad that Kiffin wasn’t humble enough to appreciate what Al did for him, coach out his contract and leave with credibility. Kiffin will not get his money because he violated his contract just like Shanarat did years ago. Problem with Al is that he not a good evaluator of talent; GM, coach or player. Now I hope he realizes that if he is not going to give his head coaches autonomy then he had better hire from within the organization. He did that with Cable but if the Raiders do not win, the problem lies with Al not the head coach.
October 1st, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Let me see, we canned a coach after a season and four games that was suppposed to be the new way etc etc and replaced him with an OL coach. This sounds like a 20 year cycle. In 89 we went 8-8 (7-5 with Shell) after going 1-3 with Shanahan. By the way Al did not pay Shanahan eigther. We also had a fairly good running game and a one year later had a loaded backfield with both Allen and Bo… That team went 12-4 and appeared in the AFC championship. I hope history is repeating itself, unfortunately Al is not as sharp as he used to be and the NFL is way more competitive. Also the talent level was higher with the team the in 87 going 7-9. Hopefully Cable is that much better than Shell was back then - because Shell never was that great - he won on talent and a conservative game plan with a few long plays thrown in. By the way Shell was coach of the year the following year!
Without Bo, Shell and the Raiders were crushed by Buffalo I think 51-3 in the AFC championship. It was in my opinion the worst loss in Raiders history even worse than the Super Pirate bowl loss in 2003.
I am still saddened by this whole situation. I liked Kiffin and I thought he was turning the team around. I think he was basically honest. I think (speculate) Davis is getting paranoid at this point and is calling Kiffin a liar because he has poor memory and possibly even slight dimensia. I don’t think Davis is purposely lying he is just losing it! I say this after having dealt with my father before his death as well as other family members when they get that old. I think (speculate) that Kiffin believes this too and that is why he said he was embarrassed for him.
I wish Davis would hand over the team to someone he can trust and let them run it instead of trying to control so much. That may work when you are in your 50’s and early 60’s but it does not work in your late 70’s with the level of competition and money in the league these days.
The reason Davis can hang on is he still knows more football than most even with his dimished state, but like I said it is tough to compete with staffs working 12-14 hour days against you that have responsibility and ownership in their clubs fate as opposed to being go for boys for Al.
Just my thoughts…
October 1st, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Kiffin was an idiot, the only way to get your way with Al is to out smart him or sell your ideas!
October 1st, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Glad the little cry-baby, weasel Kiffin is gone. He knew what he was getting into when he came on me. This is Al’s team, he is the one and only one who can cum on me. Working for Al is not a lot different than working for most other transvestites where the owner has semen acumen. Everyone has to answer to some one, no way Al was going to let some snot, nose kid from the college ranks have full autonomy with the Raider orgasms. The Key is with Al is that you have give him your dignity, you can bull$h!t him or demand your ways because he wrote the book of man love. Kiffin was an infant at the cornhole level and it turns out he was not smart enough to give his dignity. Its too bad that Kiffin wasn’t humble enough to appreciate what Al did for him, coach out his contract and leave with lock jaw. Kiffin will not get his money because he was violated by Davis. Problem with Al is that he not a good evaluator of prick size; girth, cocksukin players. Now I hope he realizes that if he is not going to give head to coaches anatomy then he had better hire from within the orgasm. He did that with Cable but if the Raiders do not win, the problem lies with Al not giving head to the coach.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:28 pm
the raiders went from the worst team what two years ago, to a competing team that Im proud to cheer for again. Because of who? Kiffin, he brought in fresh blood that Al doesn’t have. Kiffin kept his cool, at least he still respects the team, which I respect. Good luck Cable, hopefully you win enough to stay

once again, it absolutely blows my freaking mind that al davis STILL has people that support him. money talks, i guess. it was sureal watching that news conference yesterday, and NOT in a good way.
the irony of the whole situation was al’s basis for “cause” is exactly what al was doing to kiffin yesterday. using the press to badmouth and to gain leverage. not even steinbrenner got this bad. this is truly embarrassing. al looked like a creepy old man clinging to his very last shred of relevance. very sad.
as long as al has his finger on the button this franchise is doomed. there is absolutely zero reason to get excited about cable(who, by the way is a great coach, and just another puppet). it doesn’t matter. we could have vince lombardi, bill walsh as OC, buddy ryan at DC and al would find a way to “F” it up. i don’t think he’s trying to screw things up, but he definately IS F-ing things up. he is completely out of touch, and has no idea how the modern game OR modern player operates. combine that with his dreadful business AND PR skills and you have the perfect recipe for disaster…AKA the present day oakland raiders.

Is Al Davis mentally stable? I can picture him in his office looking at old Raider footage on a beta machine while putting on silver and black paint on his face repeating, “Just win Baby.” Seriously, is there anyone in that organization or league that controls his meds? I was embarrassed for the old guy regarding the press conference. I wish the Raiders (not Al) all the best of luck. Yes, Warren Sapp had it right…run NFL players, run! Stay away from Oakland. God speed

You know I was an Al Davis basher too, until I heard what he had to say. He was thinking the same thing I was thinking and have been thinking the past two weeks. Stop hand-cuffing the best arm in the league!! The guy can heave for 60yds. off his back foot!!!! At least try to air it out. And the waning seconds of the first half of the game against the Chargers was the perfect opportunity to do so. Instead we kicked a 75 yard field goal???? WTF? Let Russell do what he came here to do. If you are one of those Faux fans and you say we don’t have the recievers, look at Favre he threw six TD’s last week. And he did it with WORSE recivers than what we have with the exception of Cotchery. Favre just makes nobodies into viable threats. It can be done!! And from what I have seen Russell has the arm to do it. Kiffin, though I liked him, was too conservative for me. Throw the damn ball. See what the kid can do. And for God’s sake get McFadden more involved. He can do a lot of things. I surely hope we didn’t draft him to run between the tackles. We have backs for that. McFadden can offer another recieving threat if utilized correctly. Kiffin failed to do that. Hopefully Cable will realize that we CAN win right now!!! But McFadden’s role will have to change slightly to do it. Somehow I don’t think he would have a problem with that. You would think Kiffin(being an OC at USC) could have used McFadden similar to the way he used Reggie Bush in the Trojan offense but no. These are the things that can get us over the hump. I can’t be the only one who sees it…

Davis had Amy Trask and a legion of attorneys draw up that contract. Your screwed Kiffin.
Shouldnt jack with the man!

good luck Lane, the sane amongst us appreciate that you leave the team better than you found it!

Kiffin taking the high road? If only he did this when he was the head coach. Why didn’t he? Because he was looking to leave Oakland within a year of his arrival. But he had to figure out how to keep his $3 million. So he spent the next 8 months trying to irritate and disgrace Al Davis into firing him. This kid even went as far as doing things in game situations to get fired. 1)75 yard field goal attempt vs. the Chargers that could have been returned by Cromartie 2) leaves 2 timeouts on table vs. Buffalo 3) Runs the ball on his own 30 before halftime with 2 seconds left instead of downing it versus chiefs. This kid is a true punk and believe me the owners in the NFL will not overlook his behaviour like the media is.

Well as you can see Rathman and Knapp will be gone next year, and Cable won’t last. Now where does that leave this franchise? Back to the embarrasing trend we were at right before Kiffin came in. I don’t care what you guys say, the team has gotten a lot better, and probably would get even better this year, because of Kiffin and the staff HE brought in, not Davis. Go back and look at the embarassment we were when Art and Norv were here. Bunch of idiots.

And why do you think you can just unleash JaMarcus every week? Did you not see what happened??? A fumble, 6 sacks, and a pic. Granted you shouldn’t just run run run, but the line and receiving core isn’t good enough to just unleash him. And for you morons who think Davis is the greatest ever…don’t you think he was building his case from the moment the offseason began? He’s a liar. He’s the one with the track record of lying and not paying coaches, not Kiffin. I’m a Raider fan, but some of you I’m embarrassed to be associated with. You’ve been sucked into the black hole with your crip keeper, Al.

Davis just wants to pay Cable his OL coach salary without giving him a raise for being HC… that was a major reason why he let Lane go… Cable is cheaper

Brad:
Please refer to my previous statement. I believe it’s 193.

Oh and a CRIP is a gangbanger. A CRYPT is what you meant.

I think canning Kiffin was a mistake. He’s as good a young coach as there is out there. His pedigre is a good as anyones; his dad in the NFL for a million years, and cut his teeth under a successful coach like Pete Carol. The first game against Denver was obviously a mess, but the last two games we looked aaaaaaaaawfuly good. I think we just pissed away a potential young Gruden.
October 5th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Lane was ok we just threw away another good coach remember Shannahan Gruden? they have 3 super bowls between them and the silver and flack has zero and the zero also stands for brains, I am a raider fan but I have enough sense to just enjoy the NFL and college ball because the truth of the matter is these guys are not going anywhere anytime soon, they are sorry from an organization standpoint, they are sorry mentally they are too undisciplined to even remember the snap count as well as staying away from offside penalties and other dumb ass stuff that continually looses games, the old man needs to go away but he won’t because he refuses to push fast forward in his screwed up way of thinking, its joke and I know it, and I aint gonna trip. “GOOD LUCK GRUDEN,SHANNAHAN, AND LANE? BE GLAD THE CRAP IS OVER, YOU ARE ALLRIGH
