NO–Mark Campbell 2-yard pass from Drew Brees (Taylor Mehlhaff kicks PAT), 11:04
Notes:
– Bobby McCray’s second sack of the quarter forced the Raiders to punt from their own 15 just after the two-minute warning. The Saints took over at their own 20 after Lechler’s 65-yard punt and went about the business of killing the clock with Mark Brunell at quarterback and Pierre Thomas in the backfield.
Brees final stats: 26-for-30, 320 yards, 3 TDs, no interceptions. Quarterback rating? 144.4.
– The Raiders recorded their first sack with 3:29 to play, with Tommy Kelly doing the honors against Brees on a third-and-6 play. The Saints punted the ball into the end zone.
– Russell overthrew an open Chaz Schilens in the end zone on what could have been a 36-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-6 as the Raiders turned the ball over on downs with 6:26 remaining.
Russell has 12 completions in 33 attempts.
– McCray beat Cornell Green around the corner and forced a Russell fumble which Kendrick Clancy recovered at the Oakland 42.
Moments later, Brees found Lance Moore for a 27-yard strike to the 4, getting it in a narrow window as Michael Huff closed from the opposite side. After the Raiders were called for having 12 men on the field, Brees executed a playfake and flipped to Campbell in the back of the end zone on a right roll for a 34-3 lead. Brees update: 26 of 30, 320 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions.
– Tyvon Branch made his first appearance as a kickoff return specialist and was dropped at the 15-yard line with an 11-yard return following a New Orleans field goal in the opening minute of the quarter.
– The Raiders held in the red zone to open the quarter, forcing Brees to throw incomplete on second-and-11 and flushing him from the pocket a down later for a 7-yard run, forcing New Orleans to settle for a 33-yard Mehlhaff field goal.

Jamarcus Russell gave all this hype of being the best quarterback and stood the team up last season for contract and money negotiations. He isn’t doing a damn thing for this team! He’s should be ashamed of himself for not putting in the spirit that the team needs. His greed cursed the Raiders! We all are counting on him to deliver wins and he’s not with it.

This sucks. It truly does. This is the worst thing that could’ve happened to this young team and who’s fault is it? Al Davis! This team will continue to lose and if you can’t see it then get better glasses.
They look horrible. The offense looked bad the defense looked worse. Anyone even notice how Ryan went back to his old ways again of playing Pillbury Doeboy soft D. At least Kiffin btiched enough to get that fat azz to blitz!
The offense is totally derailed. Cable/Knapp didn’t use these stellar RBs effectively all game. What happened to the substitutions to keep them fresh? What happened? DMC getting 3-4 touches in 3Qs? MBush getting ZERO? Are you kidding me?
But hey, lets appease Al and try to wing it deep. What a novel idea… Go figure.
All I can say is Cable better prepare himself for the undressing Al is going to give him when he gets fired - Al DAvis at the PC announcing Cables firing “Its all Cables fault ..I sent him a letter to prove it”

In the interest of full disclosure. In the end, given Ryan tenacity for blowing it, I did not even except the team to beat the Saints under Kiffin. But I AT LEAST expected them to make it competitive and have a shot at winning in the end. The Saints are a good team and very developed offensively - their defense is what sucks though.
3pts is all this team could’ve mustered w/out Kiffin. Another great decision by Davis.

Saints are 16th in the NFL against the run. Only giving up 107 yards per game rushing.
Saints are 27th in the NFL against the pass. Giving up 244 yards per game passing.

Don’t agree with you at all. This is a run first team. We should be running the ball 55 to 60% of our plays. Russell is a rookie with NO receiver help! Granted, Russell missed Miller on the first drive, but every throw was a contested one.

If Kiffin was worth a crap as a coach, the Raiders passing game would have been developed enough to take advantage of the 27th ranked passing defense in the NFL.
Instead, his run 90% of the time 1 dimensional offense with 76 yard FG attempts left the team unprepared.
It will take Cable and Knapp 5 or 6 more games to get this passing offense to respectability.

Fargas, DMac & Bush, possibly the best three player running back trio in the NFL. And what do we do with them? Pass Block - a great & imaginative offensive game plan. Obviously, AD wrote up the game plan for Cable this week.
We won’t know what kind of a parer JR is or will become until we have receivers who can get open. We currently have zero WR’s who can meet that criteria.
Someone else earlier noted correctly that the team’s heart left with Kiffin’s exodus. Polls have also noted that 81% of Raider fans responding also have lost hope with Kiffin’s firing. Just proves that AD doesn’t really give a schit what anybody thinks other than himself.
The investment made by the new minority ownership is performing worse than the stock market. And that’s nothing to write home about. they’ve gotta be kissing their dollars goodbye. Maybe Walker should send them a magnum of Dom Perignion so they can’t squirt it over AD at the next owners meeting.

The Raiders game plan under Kiffin was to establish the run and pick your spots. Why??? That’s the team’s strength. We have Fargas averaging 5 yds a carry and D<AC averaging 4.5. But you impatient people out there wanted to “air it out” I also noticed that our offense looked very “Bed & Breakfast” today. A lot of long developing routed (20+) down the field as opposed to shorter passes and screens.
Screw this garbage! Kiffin SHOULD NOT have been fired!!!!! THE ONLY REASON WE LOST THOSE GAMES WAS BECAUSE FARGAS AND MCFADDEN WAS HURT AND WE COULDN’T SUSTAIN A RUNNING GAME.

My ultimate patience is gone!!! This team is pathetic offensively we have no clue, defensively we are easily out coached, this is all from the top, I can’t sit and watch such dreadful football anymore with this crazy meglomaniac running this hopeless poorly coached team. Matt Ryan is a rookie QB who has less starts than JR and he leads a crappy team against a good Bears defense to victory …. Atlanta is 4-2.
JR had no pressure and he had NO IDEA where or who to throw the ball too. 35 passes thrown and only 159 yards … yes he has has the strongest passing arm in the NFL too bad he has the smallest brain.

This attitude exhibited in this post is why we haven’t really been successfull in 20 years. You have to develop a QB and more importantly allow a developing QB to make mistakes. You have to protect your QB and set up plays that will allow him to be successfull. The Steelers leveraged Bettis and the running game in Big Ben’s first year.
Next to head coaches, the QB position has the most turnover over the last 20 years.
You all wanted to throw…now here are some of the mistakes…will the nation be patient.

Hey fellas, get a grip, this game plan has “BIG AL’S” fingerprints all over it. AD will never learn, if you are gonna be a passing offense, you had better have some recievers who#1, catch the ball, and #2 run disaplined routes. Aside from Miller, this crew of recievers are mediocre at best, and just plain inept at their worst, which is what we saw today. The O-line gave J-mac enough time today, somebody should tell this idiot to stop waveing the ball around like a loaf of bread already. I understand this was only his 6th start, but I surley hope come the 09 season we’re not in here saying it was only his 23rd start, give him time. God-almighty for all that ability, and money it looks to me, judging from today, Russell is regressing, possibly without a sufficient cast of players around him faster then you can say 3 and out, hold-em defense, what a friggin joke this once great franchise has become. I mean really folks, the freakin “AINT’S” wolfing and running it up on our beloved Oakland Raiders, what next?

We have to agree to disagree. I think when you have a running back averaging 5 yards a carry and another running back that is explosive as all hell….you go to bat with those guys. Plus we have an O-Line that is better at run blocking than pass blocking.
Also, the Raiders should take notes on how the Saints use Reggie Bush. DMAC should be getting screens, short passes and more runs to the outside

S&B, but the is a good run defense, they should have known that. and tried to be creative. Russelll had more time this game ten any other and he still under and over threw the receivers. People complain that they are too slow, it didn’t matter today, Russell couldn’t hit simple passes that I believe Walter would of made (I do not like Walter). He needs to hit those passes, that’s not being a rookie or a second year quaterback, that’s missing your passes…period.
I do agree with you that theyneed to take note on how the Saints used Bush, but again that’s nothing new to the Saints and no secret to the rest of the people watching them. Bottom line is we are really bad, I believ worse than last year. Last year we got a pass, this year no excuses.
