Biking on the platform is against the rules... you could have gotten a pretty hefty ticket for that, I'll bet.

Michael, you doll! I feel better already. If I didn't have a monthly pass to Richmond, I'd ride to Oakland and ride the 14 blocks to work at least once a week. It really makes the home-to-station commute easier, and it isn't really "sweating distance." I'd love to do the Richmond workout, but that would require leaving home at 6:15 a.m. and figuring out a way to keep the funeral outfit at work.

Don't feel bad, Erik! The "big lie" of Bike to Work Day is that everyone can leave their cars at home and commute by bicycle. Well, if you live 30 miles from your workplace, that's an unrealistic expectation. It might be fun to bike that distance once a year, but few people could or would do it every day. The more significant opportunity is for those people who live 2 or 3 or maybe 5 miles from work or fast regional transit ... these are the kind of bike trips that you might want to do every day... almost as fast as driving and that won't get you all sweaty and needing a shower at work.
