Conspiracy? not to turn off any potential reader, but that’s what I thought after the collapse of the bridge in Minn.
I then told a friend, “watch, you’re going to see a lot of bridges that need to be repaired or updated all over the country. It’s the biggest way to sale: fear. and that is going to make some people A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY.”
Why? because I read an article in the New Yorker a couple of months ago that explained how Bridges were becomming a private company venture and governments/cities/states were either selling or leasing their bridges to private companies. Now I see that a lot of private companies will start to benefit from the money that will have to be put toward those bridges…and of course out of fear, no one will oppose putting money towad the “repairs” of these bridges…Smaller 9/11 conspiracy and $$ goes to companies in foreign countries

much as I support infrastructure maintenance as a goal, note the numbers.
we lost 13 in Mpls (5 confirmed 8 missing, presumed)) VERY sad but how many are killed by DUI drivers every week? So which investment saves more lives–if that is a presumed goal?
You are of course correct that the pols are solely interested in ribbon cutting photo ops. If they could schedule more of them with direct payments to the contractor/campaign contributors not even building anything they would be just as happy as long as the voters were fooled.
