Many East Bay public transit riders need to know about some big service changes this weekend. Tonight at 9 p.m, BART begins a weekend closure of the tracks between the Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill station.

On Sunday, AC Transit revamps  more than 100 bus lines from Richmond to Fremont to save money.   BART riders on the Pittsburg-Bay Point line will need to ride buses in a temporary “bus bridge”  shuttling riders between the Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek stations during a construction project this week. Read about it here.

The temporary shutdown is to add crossover tracks that will improve train service.

As for AC Transit, the bus system is cutting bus service 8.4 percent to save money in hard economic times. Read here.
