The heat wave the last few days has caused problems for many people, including BART riders on train cars with malfunctioning air conditioner units. The fastest way to get the cooling units fixed, BART says,  is for riders to report the problem through the train car intercom system. BART relies heavily on rider reports to determine where to dispatch technicians to check out and repair air conditioning problems. To report hot cars, riders are advised to use the intercom system at either end of a train car to call the train operator. Be sure to give the operator the car train number, displayed near the intercom. The train operator will relay the information to BART’s central control, which can relay the word to technicians.

Don’t suffer the heat in silence, says BART spokesman Linton Johnson.
