Are high gas prices cutting into your July 4 travel plans?

I’m looking for readers to call or email me this afternoon if they are planning to cut back their Fourth of July weekend travel plans this year because of high gas prices. A new AAA survey found that 2.9 percent fewer Californians are planning to drive 50 miles or more this Fourth of July long weekend, and high gas prices are part of the reason.

Gas prices in California have dropped in recent weeks, but regular unleaded gas still costs about $3.80 per gallon, about 75 cents or so more than a year ago, AAA reports. Ouch.

So if you have a brief tale to share with me for a story I’m writing this afternoon about holiday travel plans, call Denis Cuff at 925-943-8267 or email me at Be sure and include your name and city of residence.
