Wa$$erman in the lead

The biggest difference between Steve Cho and Bob Wasserman’s mayoral campaign kick-offs? Wasserman’s guests brought checks.
The incumbent’s party at John Dutra’s house netted his campaign $20,375, Dutra said. That’s not even one-fifth of the the $125,000 Dutra said the Wasserman team hoped to raise for the campaign.
Cho, a two-term councilman with scant establishment support, had said he hoped to raise $100,000, but wasn’t sure he could do it.
How little establishment support is there for Cho, the council’s only Republican? Well, County Supervisor Scott Haggerty, the biggest Republican in town, was at Wasserman’s party. He didn’t outright endorse the mayor, but he couldn’t say enough good things about him.
Wasserman tried to return the favor, but as he was telling guests what a great Supervisor Fremont had in Haggerty, his toddler-aged grandson pressed his fingers to his mouth and let a raspberry rip. Everybody laughed … except Haggerty, who flashed a thin smile.
P.S. As for Mr. Dutra’s house? It’s nice, but it looks the same as every other one on the block.

Does it really matter how much money someone has? Does that really tell us that they are better suited to handle a position of power? Apparently there are too many who think so.
I’d like to see this City take a good look at itself and answer this question: Are our streets any safer today than they were just 5 years ago? If they were, would you be hearing about the rise in crime?
What’s happened to the voices of lawabidding citizens? A candidate running for President promises to make the voices of middle class citizens heard. What’s to make us believe in that anymore than we can believe in our voices being heard in the City of Fremont?
It’s a crime when you don’t know who to trust anymore.

Mayor Wasserman should be voted out of office. He has continually sided time and time again against California Terrace residents in favor of their powerful influential neighbor. He sees fit to put the residents in harms way and not to address their greivances. Scott Hagerty is Wasserman’s croney and also failed California Terrace residents in their fight against Mayor Wasserman, AC Transit and the neighborhood overlord. He rubber stamps AC Transit air quality passage. He too should be voted out of office.Cho is no better. For the city of Fremont its time to vote all the bums out, clean house, start over and get an impartial unbiased city council that actually cares about its residents not extremists who wield too much power and influence over the city council.
