catwed.jpgWe’ve reported several times about Union City opening up city hall to couples looking to tie the knot without traveling all the way to Oakland for a licensed marriage commissioner.

Apparently all that free publicity people clamor for isn’t worth much at all. As of a couple of weeks ago, only three couple had gotten married at City Hall.”It’s proving to be more of a secret than we wanted it to be,” Deputy City Manager Tony Acosta said.

Every wedding adds a little money to a city scholarship program, so couples won’t be turned away. Weddings are performed Monday through Saturday. For more info, click here.
