  1. Matt Says:

With the present Mayor and City Council at the helm, no wonder we have all kinds of problems. The issues confronting Fremont for the last 4 years are rise in burglaries, potholed roads, and run-away development. A lot of Fremont residents go to City Council meetings and raise concerns about all these issues but the City Council does not want to listen to us. They claim there is no budget for providing City Services but how are they approving pay raises for all the City Staff even when the average resident is not getting the same kind of raise at work in this economy.

Time to clean up the City Hall and elect sensible people who care for Fremont and not present City Council members who give all kinds of reasons to solve even small problems.

The rise in crime might be attributed to the the FPD’s public announcement that it will no longer respond to alarms (yet you still have to pay an alarm permit fee).

DO you there is a correlation? Another classic example of City Hall not listening to it’s citizens. The current regime is so dysfunctional and disconnected from the populous it isn’t funny.

Throw the bums and and get some new blood in our city government that cares.

  3. Coyote Bill Says:

I could not agree more with the statement, “Throw the Bums Out”. I cannot find a good reason to re elect any incumbent Fremont City Council Person or Mayor.

    WE NEED A CHANGE

I agree with Erik, except I do NOT want the Fremont Police Department to susidize “For profit Burglary Alarm Companies”. That is what private securety firms are for.

  4. Doug Says:

It would be interesting to know the time of day or night a majority of the burglaries are occurring. I read of one that happened recently at 3 p.m. in the MSJ area. It also seems like many armed robberies are taking place during the daytime.
With an increase in population and a highly mobile society comes all the associated problems.
I believe the officers on duty are doing an exemplary job given the size of our city.

  5. Lee Says:

The fact that the most recent burglary happened on a fairly visible street indicates that no one is immune and it’s just random luck that the rest of us haven’t been victimized and it’s just a matter of time…

I believe that FPD’s policy of not responding to alarms is contributing to these burglaries as the burglers know the police is too busy/short-handed in Fremont. By their actions, including the poor decision to publicize this policy, FPD has sent a clear message that burglary prevention/response is not in their priority.

Perhaps not responding to alarms saved resources but isn’t this offset by the resources needed to investgate the increase in burglary cases?

We need to send a clear message to the Police Chief, Fremont Major and the City Council with our petitions, voices, and our votes.
