Union City braces for big cuts

Our Union City reporter tells me that at last night’s council meeting, City Manager Larry Cheeves said that he has directed department heads to prepare 10 percent budget cuts as a contingency measure. The contingency he was referring to is if voters once again reject an extension of Measure K in November and if Union City loses its last appeal on the 911 fee that an appeals court recently ruled was approved illegally.
