Fremont Fourth of July Parade unlikely to come to Central Park

Fremont Fourth of July Parade chief Patty Hitchcock made a little wave in Warm Springs last month when she suggested to the City Council that they look into to holding (and helping fund) the annual parade near Lake Elizabeth.
The parade currently rotates through Fremont’s districts, and next year was Warm Springs’ turn to host it. Jan Giovannini-Hill, who helped organize the last parade in Warm Springs, quickly shot off a letter opposing any changes that would take the parade away from her neighborhood.
Giovannini-Hill has nothing to worry about, Hitchcock said. As much as she thinks the parade should be centralized, she said it would never happen without the support of all five districts. Warm Springs and Mission would never give up their turn to host, Hitchcock said.
