I’ll have an update on the Alameda Creek fish kill in tomorrow’s paper.
Still no test results on why levels of dissolved oxygen plummeted last weekend.
I’m told that on average the level of dissolved oxygen in the creek is between 9 and 11 parts per million. Fish start to stress out if levels fall below 3 parts per million.
Last week, oxygen levels were actually higher than normal, at 11 to 14 parts per million.
But, by Monday, levels had dropped below 1 part per million, which suffocated the fish.
