The company was supposed to break ground this year on a 200+ unit condo project at State Street that was to be the big start of Fremont’s future “downtown.” The economy delayed those plans, but hasn’t killed them.
Construction is now scheduled to begin this spring. And, it looks like the project will now start off as rentals and then convert to condos. Also many of the 290 units will be smaller so they can sell for less, Head said.
Summerhill has sold out a townhouse and condo project in Fremont, but the units sold for less than the firm had expected, Head said.
