		<description><![CDATA[NO they are NOT fixing MOST of the schools in WCCUSD. WCCUSD identified 5 schools with a high risk of collapsing in 1999 and 2 of those schools, Adams and Portola Middle schools have NOT been fixed. In 2002 DASSE Design completed structural reports identifying by seismic priority 6 schools to be fixed and the same 2 schools were on this list. The school board, funded by “construction interests“ has NOT fixed TWO 3-story nonductile (no shear-wall) CONCRETE middle schools with a high probability of collapsing. They have fixed about 20 schools. In August 2006 at the WCCUSD Facilities Subcommittee discussed the earthquake danger at Portola Middle School and recognized the likelihood that children would die in the facilities under current conditions if an earthquake strikes. It seems Karen then directed the Superintendent to send a letter to the Portola area saying the school was safe based on the Field Act (of 1933)
