No new nightclubs in Fremont?

Fremont doesn’t have much in the way of nightclubs, but apparently it’s holding its own in nightclub fights.
After free cake at tonight’s City Council meeting, the council will take up an emergency law that would ban any new nightclubs until the city comes up with restrictive new laws for approving and regulating them.
That likely means that someone wants to open a new club, since the city usually doesn’t do something like this unless it knows something it doesn’t want is about to seek a permit.
According to a vague city report, there’s been an increase in drunken rowdiness, including fighting, rioting, vandalism and public urination. One recently closed nightclub produced 87 incidents over four years, including theft, robbery and rape.
