Matt Artz

  1. There were TWO NOP processes as I recall. The first was for the original Pac Commons site. The deadline for comments on that was 12/12 (or thereabouts). The second NOP was supposed to have comments due by 3/12. So, I take it that this latter one was cancelled.

I’m assuming that the EIR process for the Pac Commons site is still on. The NOP process for that is over and that they’re now working on the EIR for that site. Matt, can you or someone else please confirm this with the City? It would also be good to know when they expect the Draft EIR for this project to be completed.

If I have it right, it should be made clear to the people of Fremont that one option for the ballpark (Warm Springs) has been temporarily pulled from the process. Another option (Pacific Commons) for the ballpark is alive and well. I’m worried that this coverage is making people think that the entire ballpark development has been called off when that’s not at all the case.

  2. WHAT? THE A’S ARE STILL GOING FORWARD WITH PC SITE!?! The PC site EIR (and completed NOP) is still moving forward?

  3. Anon,
Yes, according to the City officials, the pacific commons site NOP is completed and the EIR is in process. This is why it is important to show up on 2/24 at 6:30 and protest at the City hall, no matter what you read in the media. Go to for more information.

  4. Vinnie, No EIR work is being done at either site. If the A’s wanted to proceed with Pac Commons, the city wouldn’t have to reissue the NOP, but it would have to complete work on the Draft EIR.

  5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if the A’s come back next Wednesday and say they want the Pacific Commons EIR to continue, it could re-continue immediately. This means we could still see a completed Draft EIR by this summer.

  6. Vinnie’s right as far as I can tell. Read all the “official” statements and try to rule it out. You can not, as far as I can tell. The games go on!
